      @Mrs B I think I had a similar issue. I had a retrosigmoid surgery done to remove a brain tumor (acoustic neuroma) that was pressing against my brain stem. I lost my hearing and balance nerve on my right side making me continuously dizzy and completely deaf on the right. Along with that, when I woke from surgery I couldn’t eat solid food and choked on everything. It’s been a little over a year now but still having problems with my throat where it’s dry and I have problems speaking for long periods of time. Trying these exercises to see if it helps. My ENT thinks I had damage done to my vagus nerve during the operation. My neurosurgeon denies this and thinks it was just from the intubation.

      Me ☹️. Choked on some food a couple of weeks ago. And ever since I noticed little by little it was harder to get food and drinks down. And in the last 3 days its so hard to even get pureed baby food and yogurt and super easy stuff like that to get down. Even drinking is a challenge. It so scary and upsetting. Worried I'll be like this forever ☹️. Waiting to get a call from the doctor to do the barium test to see what's going on

      @@CelesLovee10 I'm so sorry your going through this too 😭. It's been over a week of struggling to get anything down even liquids. I'm trying so hard to get something down, the Dr has me freaked out about choking now so now it's triggered my anxiety I had really really bad last year that took so long to work through and I finally was in a good place and now this has triggered it back. I went to the Dr and was told I most likely have gerd and have been out on medication for that which I have to break open and still takes me a while to get down. I have a barium swallow dye test this Monday I'm not looking forward to, hoping I can get that down. And then on the 24th I have to go to the hospital for an endoscopy to check and make sure nothing serious is going on so very nervous but hoping soon I can go back to eating and drinking like normal again. I hope you can go back to eating and drinking soon to. It's so scary and really hard to go through

    Can you show how to do side lying technique for dysphagia, neck extension techniques, laryngeal elevation, resistive laryngeal isometric exercise, super supraglottic swallow

      Working on a second swallow exercise video now to focus on laryngeal elevation and base of tongue. Side lying technique I do not have much personal experience with but seems like it only applies for severe dysphagia. Any exercises for the infrahyoids?

    • @SpeechSecrets
      @SpeechSecrets  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! So the infrahyoid muscles depress the hyoid and I'm not sure what exercise would isolate this movement. But the submandibular push exercise, chin tuck against resistance (swallow exercises 1) and Shaker exercise (see swallow exercises 2) would address both supra and infrahyoids.
