What did you think of this build? I ran out of time for the scabbard, but if you're going to be at Blade show in June, it will be complete for that. Come by and take a look!
@@TyrellKnifeworks it is amazing very cool idea, sometimes if it is just hand sketched in the beinggining it is difficult to follow, super approachable
That is the first time I've ever seen someone show how much steel you lose to scale, etc. That's bloody amazing how much waste there is! Appreciate those little things! Thank you.
Well consider that damascus forging make a lot of scales. This was a kind of tldamascudls that left even a lot more due to the many steps needed, also since he had do do more heat than "needed" (due to him having a relatively small forge) it led to even more scales.
@@andreacapani2170 the scale that came off during the last step from multiple heats is pretty inconsequential to the total volume of scale. The vast majority was from forging the Damascus itself, not from drawing out the sword.
If i would just see a picture of it, i would never believe the sword is handmade! Man, this is stunning and it was beyond my imagination of possible craftmanship. Congratulations!
That is a really cool mosaic pattern. The Damascus hilt pieces were a nice touch, although the pommel is a little small compared to other historical pieces but the shape is quite accurate. Overall I like it. Great job on this one.
Well 10:37 That's a clever way of surfacing something long. I need to keep this trick in mind for when I'll have one! 🤣 Epic pattern. On such a long blade too, real impressive! The star on the pommel nut is also sick. Congratulations!
As I've said on the past, I love the fact that you put the pattern formation during the steps during the build. It makes the whole process of watching what you do and the outcome so much better. So please never stop putting in that extra effort that makes the video so much more informational
Explaining the patterns and using diagrams on the side is very helpful. I can visualize what is actually going on rather than just seeing a bright yellow molten block of metal. Thank you, sir.

When you have the right tools it makes everything that much better!!! Imagine Way back in the dark ages when there wasn't any electricity or power hammer's and grinder's???. And they still made awesome weapon's !!!
Beautiful damascus sword. Really enjoy your videos and watching your very quick progress over a short period. You have gift. One thing that I think would be great to know about these competition builds is the approximate cost in materials, abrasives and time? Seems to be a perspective that isn't often discussed for some reason.
This one is about $500 in materials. It's about $200 just in the steel, plus the gold, sharkskin, consumables like propane, electricity, abrasives, wax, oil, wood, etc. The biggest cost of course is the labor. At about 80 hours of labor or more (and that's not minimum wage labor), that's where the majority of the cost comes from. Thanks for watching.
I am so in awe of what you can do with Damascus. You make it look so easy, but I have seen enough forging on TH-cam to have some indication of how much skill this requires. I hope you will have this sword at Blade Show Atlanta because it is even better in person.
wow, that came out nice! great job. The contrast between the blade and handle work matched awesome. Good luck! I almost feel sorry for your competition! I haven't seen their work yet, but it was awesome that you took the time to make sure everyone is known.
