Hi Bernth. I have been playing for about three or four years, and then I quit for over five years believing that I could never correct certain issues or mistakes that I have had since I started. A few months ago (during the pandemic) I took up again and by chance I found your channel. I have progressed more in these 6 months than in all the other years playing. I just wanted to thank you and send you a big greeting from Argentina!
I found that a cool sounding scale for making harmonies is to take lydian, and lower the second and seventh scale degrees. I don't know if it has a name (though it probably does). I haven't tried it out on guitar yet, but I have written a really cool melody with it. Example: (key of E) E F G# A# B C# D E
Fantastic lesson Bernth!, I love the sound of exotic scales especially the Hungarian, Byzantine and the Phyrigian scale...very helpful, best TH-cam guitar teacher!.🤘 🔥
To make life a bit easier, phrygian dominant is the 2nd mode of romanian scale (both are modes of harmonic minor, 4th and 5th respectively). Hirajoshi scale is the 3rd mode of asavari scale. Oriental scale is the 2nd mode of hungarian scale, and byzantine scale is its 5th mode. All scales are so awesome and cool to jamm with.
The 4th degree of the double harmonic major scale is the Hungarian minor that has a sharpened 4th which is the only difference between this scale and the harmonic minor scale.
Hey bernth! How do I get started on playing such sclaes with fast alternate picking up and down? In your older videos you would add such scales here and there in the videos as fills. Those fast rudnwons are my favorite! Could you pls instruct on how to get started on that? If you have a video already, could you pls link me up? Thanks

Just subbed your channel. This was a cool video but I would have really appreciated seeing you make up some more music or at least a different riff or two with each scale. Sometimes it helps to see the different techniques used for each scale. I liked the Hungarian & Phrygian Dominant the most, btw. 👍
I like the 2nd japanes scale, the last scale was a little bit too sick for my taste. But in case the right sick song comes it can provide a sick solo part as well 🙃
Sir Asavari is natural minor scale! In south Asia.. overall it's good lesson... But you are showing one position.. how do we apply on full fretboard..?
If you Google "exotic guitar scales", I believe there's a list with diagrams and the notes of these scales on jazzguitar.com. I used the site a while ago and learned some of these scales.
I tried to play as flamenco, but according to a couple of friends, it sounded as arabic, persian, or some of these scales shown in the video. I really don't know what it is.
And how you harmonize these scales? Where do you find the chords? Wie kann man diese Skalen harmonisieren? Wo findet man die Akkorde? Danke für das Video.
hi Bernth this is Jeff from Philippines 1 of your student here in your channel ... if you don't mind me asking ... how to apply those scales with a music ... and those exotic scales are Major or Minor ? ... thank you ...
I have tried to study music so many times and I always feel like I'm looking at a book written in chinese.. idk if I'm just stupid, but all of these literally sound exactly the same plus or minus a note here and there:/
@@j-monk3063 well, i need some search for that, because it's 100% that there is some hungarian music, that's using this scale...but i think its not in folk, its in classical rock, or rock and roll😂

Romanian scale это же просто лидийский лад с повышенной шестой? Чем всё это отличается от ладов, они же "modes"?
👍🙏🤘
that's a lot of countries
How many scales are there?
@@ErebosGR There is a limit to how many scales there are.
Because unlike colours, you have to work with only 12 notes.
When using colours, we just assign a name to each colour.
But, in Western music, we only divide the octave into 12 equal temperament tones.
If we use microtones, there will be infinite scales.
Makasi anjir scale nya banyak banget tulung
