If you leave it just about long enough between repeat viewings of his tales, it's possible to end up in a loop of never remembering whether they are going to be true or not despite having seen it multiple times.

I've fthink I've igured Bob out. The more preposterous the story, the more it looks like he's making it up on the spot, the more likely it is to be true. He is a master of misdirection.
Bob’s stories are like a Buddhist zen koan (“They are meant to focus the mind on the central questions of Zen by creating “great doubt””). For a mind like David Mitchell’s they are positively dangerous.
Wait a minute…Bob said that wizards hate plumbing. Mary gave Bob a toilet seat to dispose of! The neighbourhood wizard must’ve just been around just the other day, probably after a good day selling fireworks to children.
I feel that if you put yourself in a ludicrously absurd situation - maybe trying to float over the Eiger on a chair tied to a load of balloons while holding two live chickens and dressed as a 19th century soldier, for example - Bob would not only mysteriously turn up, but somehow make it more ludicrous..
A lot of stories are not far from what we did as kids and teens in the 70s but he makes them hilarious whereas if we told our similar tales they would be merely silly with the odd funny bit.
I think I've only seen one clip of Bob's stories where it was a lie, and that genuinely astounds me, because he seems to have had the upbringing of a protagonist in a kid's book. I hope he writes an autobiography or something, giving us a taste of what life was like for him 🤣
