whats your grind disc grit? Try beveling edges by taping them off and using a 5000 grit and pull lines in one direction, angled at a 45 from your taped edges, you can get amazing results
Have you used or heard of PPG's DX 1791 wash primer? It is a catalyzed, transparent, (very slightly yellow) one coat primer, that promotes adhesion between sanded bare metal and Urathane paints.
@@BogDustForBreakfast Never had any issues. We use it on all bare metal before painting, and wondered what difference it might make on a candy coated panel like the one in this video. Beautiful job, btw.
@@bronzehawk3646 The PPG system we use at my shop requires it to be used on all bare metal before applying epoxy primers, primers, or topcoats. Especially galvanized metals. We warranty our paint work for the lifetime of vehicle ownership, backed by PPG. Never have any issues personally, however a painter's apprentice accidently sprayed the wrong primer over the wash and there was a problem with adhesion. Sanded off the incorrect primer and redo with the correct primer resolved the issue. If the primer you use doesn't require it, go without. A lot of primers have metal adhesion properties mixed in already, and using the two together can potentially fail. I hope that answers your question.
if someone had a paint job like this "with a few dings" he could PDR the dents out and keep the custom effect. there are some very telented PDR Techs out there!
Watching you lay that down was mesmerising, wish i had half of your gun control skills. Loving that effect looks mint 👌
Cheers man
Cool video! Thanks from Greece!
Thanks for watching!
I’ve done this on aluminum. I used Bulldog on it first but I wonder how well a clear UV primer would work? But IV primer is costly

@@Raceb8420 how long does it last compared to standard primer?

He was the king of sema 5 years back
imagine if an awesome graffitti designer created a design in the metal & put candy over it ..
that would be unreal.
I wonder what this would look like in satin ? Like if a guy had a few dings they wouldn't be so noticeable

You’ll need to ask Iwarts I’ve only tried steel and alloy
Now that it's past 6 months has any rust showed up?
Will have to pull it out and take a look mate . Haven’t looked at it since I painted it . Will film a video this week
@@BogDustForBreakfast Awesome I’ll be looking forward to it!
@@BogDustForBreakfast Checking in again, very curious on whether the part rusted or not :P
@@ljunderground sorry mate been flatout the past week with dna stuff will upload a video this week
@@BogDustForBreakfast Awesome and no worries!

Sorry what did you use in bitween base and bare metal?
Premix candy over bare steel then clear
Yep guy been doing it for over 12 years
i am not into that but i think there should be some primer on clean metal
Issue is. If you prime it you don’t get the effect
😂😂😂..u try with primer see if the effect would work..U dont need to teach a duck how to swim..just like u dont teach a painter how to paint
Can this work on plastic ??
No mate
@@BogDustForBreakfast oh… quick question what is this process called ??
Metal engraving car paint or something else ??
@@tonyromano8337 it’s similar to metal engraving but it’s not really engraving either . Your guess is as good as mine mate

What type of gun did you use
Walcom Carbonio 360 light 1.2
So it is just 2k kandy on bare metal ?
No . 2k clear over candy . Candy is a pre-mix candy with no hardner
what kind of paint is used ????
DNA paints
Finishing flat?
This was just a test panel to show an effect .
