- Royal Enfield made a name for itself in the off-road riding community with the Himalayan. The capable ADV is now getting a major update in the form of the Himalayan 450. In this video, we talk about the specifications of the new avatar of the motorcycle and tell you how different it is from the outgoing model.
One of the most significant changes to the Himalayan has come in the form of a higher capacity 452 cc engine. This is still a single-cylinder unit but now gets liquid cooling. The power and torque outputs sit at 39.6 hp and 40 Nm, respectively. These figures are significantly higher than the ones produced by the older engine. The tyres, brakes and suspension have also been updated.

I wanted the old Himalayan look with new Himalayan features and specs.😢
same
😂
yup!
Same
Same😂😂
Technically new himalayan is fine... But look wise old himalayan is a gem💎
Looks really good. People say it doesn't look British or old school but RE needs a few models that break the mould of Retro. 40hp would make it finally go above 120kmph.😂
The old model also goes 125+ I know u probably have activa 5g
The point is how comfortable it will be at 120 kmph
Vibration?
Acceleration?
The danger is that it looks too much like every Japanese small single out there and loses its USP. Pity they couldn’t package the new engine in old clothes. Triumph do this quite well.
Then again, it’ll be cheap so it should be competitive
@@Pikestnt it looks like an old Japanese bike of 80s
Which its great
It's a good looking bike
And also retro
It looks just ok.
But it will be priced similar to the honda cb500x and ktm 390 and bmw gs310.
All of hose are great bikes.
Except for the curvier design, I like what I hear. The 411 had that beautiful boxy retro shape. Shame they did not keep up the legacy.
I like the curvier fuel tank, gives tiger vibes! Looks i's a personal choice
@@atsonaga5520 if you like tiger, go buy tiger. But they messed up Himalayan looks for sure.
I thought there was embargo till 7th for specs. Kudos to Akash. Hope this won’t be taken down by RE
Bro,it's been officially revealed by RE themselves first. It's just a gimmick of title for TH-cam 😂
Embargo date got changed suddenly so had to rush this one out asap. Thanks for the kind words 😃
@@aakashpaul9586 Thanks for putting this one out.
The official specs were leaked so there was no point of keeping it secret anymore
u nailed it .... the rest were so confused of telling these basic information
Thank you! I am glad you like the content 😃
RE pretty much fixed all the things we didn't like about the old. The first thing I saw with the two side by side is the seat. the old seats are narrow, and uncomfortable for both people. And the 452 front section is no longer scooped but rather flat. Looks much more comfortable. Then there is the engine, no more problems keeping up with friends riding 250cc bikes on the highway.
They will have problem keeping up with this.....lol
This is how I want the review to be. Thanks a lot to the team. Awesome Job🎉
Appreciate the kind words 🙏🏻
Fantástico esse ajusto do assento. Estava preocupado com a altura do assento, mas ao saber que pode ser ajustado fiquei mais animado.
Great overview of the new Himalayan. Like the fact that both motorcycles are actually dirty which means they have been ridden.
Pretty good model. RE has listened to it's customers and built a great motorcycle! ❤
Can't tell how happy I am
1. Booked Himalayan 411 and somehow canceled it
2. Currently booked Super Meteor 650 and going to cancel it.
3. I feel, finally this would be it ❤
😎
What would be the on - road price bro?
Book it and cancel again bhai 😅
So were you clear what kind of bike do you need ? As Himalayan is a adventure vehicle and meteor is a cruiser 🤷🏻♂️
buy a KTM 390 Adventure 25 kg lighter and a little bit more horsepower and you will be lucky..
Fantastic video. Great job.
The new Himalayan is awesome. I'm looking forward to upgrade mine.
Great video , said some key facts some other reviewers missed .Comparing the old and the new himalayan side by side gives you a clear picture , the new one looks so dope , definitely buying this one for sure
I am glad you liked the video. Thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻
These will sell like crazy. Everything everyone wanted.
I've been watching itchy boots run around the mountains with the new bike. It just seams to be so right powered in all situations of daily life. Haven't seen any bogging down while she has been riding, looks to be a fun daily driver.
What a brilliant ambassador she is for RE, and back to the roots of her journeys, the Himmy looks soooooo much better than the plastic Honda she's been riding!
thanks mate, perfectly to the point video! love it
Crisp information....no nonsense. Great video. Keep up the good work !!
Thank you for the encouragement. 😃
The new bike looks fantastic to me. I like the fact that it is very well equipped and basically ready-to-go with easy luggage (top box) facilitation etc and I think the power/torque balance of approx 40/40 is spot on. This bike should compete on very equal terms with the new Triumph 400 as well as the soon to be released and upgraded 399cc KTM 390 Adventure but with a capacity advantage to 452cc, I think RE are on a winner! Cannot wait to test ride one in Australia.
Recently sold my 411 and bought a KLR650 Adventure for 3 main reasons: lack of open road power, too low seat height (I'm 185cm) and no matter what I tried couldn't get the wind protection right(buffeting). The KLR is way better on all 3. But the 450 addresses the power and seat height seems sorted. Wind protection seems minimal. Might have to keep the KLR for longer rides and buy a 450 for everything else.😁. When I saw the early photos of the white bike, I thought it looked horrible. The black one looks way better.
Amazing one! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Well done video!
Great and very detailed video. A true comparison to everything.
Excellent video Akash. Very informative. I’ve been trying to find some details about the new Himalayan since hearing of the upcoming launch and your video, by far, has been the best I’ve seen about this bike. Many thanks and looking forward to your next instalment about this beautiful machine. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Loving the new looks and updates to this great bike. That new tank gives it real presence. And it looks fantastic in black and gold.
Thing is ugly as they come... Looks like China gave up halfway through designing a bike and let Enfield have it after they figured out it was too big for a 250cc engine to fit. DongFang looking garbage
Very nicely explained in plain language ❤
Nice informative and to the point comparison Aakash and good job RE. Keep up the good work.
I agree design is subjective! Not any hatred for the 411 but for me 452 is really upmarket and feels bigger and roomier!
best review so far good work Akash
Great one thank you!Do you think we'll be able to get a lift kit or sometging to increase the ground clearance?
Can't wait to see the bike in Brazil, it looks amazing 🤩
Great idea on the actual fuel tank location! Ingenious!
Old is gold ❤
Great side by side comparison, cheers from Down Under.
Very well-performed and informative video, thank you.
This Review is soo much Informative😊
Good Work.. Nice and Crisp review 👍
This has a massive upgrade.
Use the lower seat and down size tire to 130/80 can be perfect for short rider like me.
shrimp
@@kalnwi2023And? Did that make you feel proud and important for 1 second??
Whats your height
@@Farhan_049 Hell yeah, I came all ova !
Downsizing to 130/80 doesn't help in decreasing seat height as the side walls are still longer as the aspect ratio is 80. But you can adjust the monoshock for seat height adjustment. This is my assumption btw.
Excellent presentation, Thank you.
Noraley…..Itchy Boots on TH-cam is currently riding through India on a new Him 450 and liking the improvements over the older model which she previously rode. She puts them through a lot of mileage and wear and tear on her travels which shows that RE is a quality manufacturer with a modern outlook while still keeping the traditional character of its legacy bikes. Good show.
Superb comparative review! Seat height is adjustable which is amazingly innovative ! Full maps on a beautiful screen! Aesthetically, a rear tail light in the center is a must as providing them on both ends, which are normally brittle and more likely to be broken during sidefalls.. it may become a safety issue during long journey s..
Thanks! On the plus side, you get two tail lights 😆
Simple, useful, effective is all that I can say.. when plenty will try to make this a lengthy video for nothing...
wow RE has built a crazy offroad machine.I would like to test it against my 411 as I've also done some performance based upgrades on it.
I love the "old". Retrô model. ❤
Thanks for a good and to the point comparison! Hopefully the 450 will be as reliable as the last gen of the 411.
thank you very much for the great review. You talked about the bike in stead of your self. and also could under stand every word you said, again thanks. Was getting tired of all the videos that are titled in English, but can not understand what they say, and the ones that talk more about the people than the bike so far into the video that I just turn them off.
This is really detailed wow
Thank you!
At the first sight on the new one, it was not so appealling. But i now I like the sleek body design and overall look. Yes it look like the wild horse which is ready to run on any terrain.
Well presented brother.
Thanks for the explanation in English.
Excellent job
Thank you!
Is it just me or does the old Himalayan actually looks better? 🤔
Old Is Gold😍
Only reason I was thinking to buy Himalayan was its Rugged look. Now I lost interest. Will go for Meteor 350.
Thank you for this vid. That's the first time I've seen somebody make the effort to compare the two Himmys side by side in that way and it has done a lot to convince me to wait for the 452 to be available here in France instead of getting the 411 (which I'm told they will not be phasing out right away).
Thank you for your kind words. These types of comments keep us motivated to work hard. Glad we could provide good content.
I agree. No useless moto-journal jargons. Everything straight and to point.
The info on Seat Height is the most crucial for me personally and to many 'shorter' Indian riders waiting on the 452.
Not seen any other Reviewer mention anything on it so far. So big kudos.
Great video browser
Very comprehensive, interesting comparison. Thanks! (Though I would recommend to give a good wash to the motorcycles before recording such video.) The new Himalayan seems to be a much better motorcycle than the old one. I’ve test ridden the old one and found it to be underpowered to the point of being dangerous on roads having a 110km/h speed limit (« nationales ») here in France.
Good comparison
very good explanation by the anchor brilliant job bro keep it up
Thanks a lot! 🙏🏻
I love to see the scram version of 450
Why
Nice video, I like the new Himi, however still gonna keep using my 2019 BS4 Himalayan.
Take a look again n u know who is the OG 😎
Superb presentation 👍
Thanks a lot!
Nice presentation and communication bro
Thanks a lot!
Very nice comparison of the models. I have been riding a BS4 for two years and really like the look and specs of the 450. The seat height increase is my only concern, as I chose the Himalayan because it was the only “Adventure” type bike I could place both feet on the ground - but the lower (after-market ?) seat may be an option ?
Very professional presentation 👍🇦🇺
Hey 450 coming with adjustable height..You can adjust your bikes seat height💥
The original himalayan had a seat height of 800mm. An official accessory seat is available that is 805mm which can be adjusted up to 820mm. So 5mm shouldn’t be a huge increase. The weight has gone down by 3kg, that too with 2L of extra fuel. Also the fuel tank is now closer to the center (since the airbox is moved up) which will give a better center of gravity and easier handling.
Seat Height issue is one I noted, but since I would want to wait until a new model has been out a year or so at least it will give aftermarket suppliers (hello Hitchcocks 😀) a chance to address this and other rider issues. She does look a cracking bike ...
@@ranjithk9150hey 450 coming 825 mm seat height and you can raise upto 840 mm
I’ve had my BS4 for over 4 years and won’t be trading it in for the new one. I don’t like modes etc. Even if I wanted to, it’s a good idea to never buy the Mk1 version of anything. Remember the “production issues” of the first Himalayan?
do talk about the digital ergonomics aswell
Finally now i love RE because of 40 bhp 100% worth buying 👍🏻
Best review
The seat height is a worry for me. I found 411 was easy to ride after putting on the lowering kit that dropped it by 20mm. Unless i get same option for 450 then will be forced down the Triumph 400 road, Wish they would cater for shorter rider. Not everyone is 6 foot and above with 31 inch inside leg.... One last hope is they put that engine in the smaller 350 meteor frame.
Very nice comparison, 👍🏻
*Great comparison.*
🤩Stick a 30L tank on it and I'd be very, very interested! (from a honda xl600 lmf rider) 😍
thanks for this quick comparison, can you do the gauge cluster comparison too? a lot was changed from 411 to 450 giving only one whole gauge. What are lacking?
Hey there! Sorry, but we had a limited amount of time left so we could not do an instrument console comparison. However, that is something we would like to explore once we get the bike for road test review.
In an ideal fantasy world, a slightly more longer stroke version of this engine would become available in the bullet/classic alongwith the thump 😄 and im an instant buyer.
You are the only channel which spilled out the specs sheet of the bike thoroughly here, where as other channels are still hiding saying we will reveal it on 10th November 😂😂.
Wow!!!
the max power of new 450 liquid cooled surprisingly get much higher that almost twice than the old ones, but IMO the looks is better in old version
Please talk about the frame/chassis, it looks like a new frame and possibly a stronger one
Mejoro macizo, viendo la nueva la anterior era muy cara, me imagino que la nueva será carísima.
It will be quick and light enough for me. Is the suspension plush? Does it vibrate at 80mph indicated. That's the next hurdle. 40hp out of 450cc means it will have some low down torque. I've been watching Noraly riding it through India but can't quite judge how the forks are performing. Haven't seen any vibration in the mirrors
Going to wire spoked tubeless rims and tubeless tyres is the best news ever!
Thank you RE 😊🤗👍👏👏👏👏
Great review. Well done man. The new 450 looks less agricultural than the old 400, lighter, more powerful and modern. Toss up between this and the new Triumph 400X for me????
No I wonder how much will be the upgrade on the price. I bet it will be on par with zontes x1 bikes.
Only drawback is that new himalayan doesn't look classic like an old one
That's not a drawback, that's your opinion on it. Necessarily not everyone feels the same way...
@@ishan4269the look is the main thing.. Most of the people like the older version look qise
I think RE have taken some small steps down the road which ends with the Himalayan looking as bad as every other modern bike. Love the look of the old Himalayan.
I thought the boxy looks of the old one were a negative. This one looks more purposeful
Looks wise himalayan 411 BS6 looks awesome
hey, where is the tail lamp for the new RE Himalayan, and does RTO's Approved this vehicle spec???
Me encanta la nueva himalayan , la cambiaré por mi ktm 390
Its looks like sports byk...but we love old model Himalayan 411...
Thanks for specs. Reduction in weight is big relief. Also if they can give tubeless with launch
Since the fuel tank is low down, you'll feel it even lighter.
Good presenter.
I wonder what uk price will be tho.if it's close to the major 4 brands I can't see it selling .
The air filter has been moved below the tank which increases the Water wading capacity
It’s a game changer then
New Himalayan looking like its going for that Japanese ADV bike look. 🙂
Even after discontinuing the Himalayan 411, will parts and services be available in the future?
Where would launch event happen ? Any details on fan pass
The fuel tanks look of the old was much more better than the new, so elegance, and the total out look dimminshed for the new one
Isn't there an embargo on sharing the new bike details till 7th Nov???
if the 450 came out a year earlier I would have gotten the RE over the kawi versys 300. other wise it's seems great for my needs in the US
Old model looks better retro stuff for which RE is in market
Old one look good
Will some one from Royal Enfield Please come to Prince Edward Island, Canada and talk one of the bike dealers in to selling Royal Enfield, I want to put the new Himalayan 450 in my stable and even think of one of the 350 as well. Like the look of the classic, but the gas tank size and heal toe shifter of the Meteor.
