    One of my mate's back in the late 70's had a simular coloured bathurst XU1 in Port Pirie, I remember going over 130mph in it, I bought a 1973 gtr torana, loved it.

    Torana XU1's certainly had the best looking engine of any Holden ever made. Chromed rocker cover and triple Strommies.
    I'd like one on display in my mancave!

    Beautiful car, i have a $100 model of this car, love Fords but the GTR XU1 nearly tempted me once years ago.

    given as 190bhp (142kW) at the flywheel for the standard car on sale at the Holden dealer at the time. Of course, "blue-printed" motors for racing had a fair bit more power than that. I have a road test mag where Harry Firth's example ran a 13.5 quarter mile..

    Relflecting our alrounder abilities as Aussies our performance cars are equally at home doing daily drives or Cairns to Melbourne for the GP. And you can look under the bonnet and if you can't fix a problem on the spot you can at least isolate it and give a mechanic the heads up ! Caste iron and happy with four wheel discs for my tech hit !😎👍

    Sounds like aluminum timing gears as my 1973 Torana S with full Bathurst pecked 186 sounded like that and yes got clocked at 133miles hour in it lol And cop pulled me over next day asking me who was driving that night and i didnt tell him as my girlfriend at time was driving it as i knew i was going to get pulled over again lol

      The webers and hotter cam. are variant opinion for the xu1. (gregorys manual or holden for information)
      You'd need a lot of paper work to prove it's Xu1 and not a S or gtr for me.

      Drove an LC with side-draught Webers on it. Pump once, put foot flat to floor and hit starter! Used to roar into life and then almost impossible NOT to lay wheelies away from rest. A beast.

    • @pub6023
      @pub6023 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brock drove a XU1 with a straight 6 to victory in 1972, Holden scraped plans for the V8 LJ torana due to government’s horsepower scare. Ford scraped plans for the phase 4 and stuck with the phase 3, no V8 GTR-XU1 in 1972 Bathurst 500, but they did have plans for it.

  • @BlowmeRoger

    Average driver, not an authentic showcar thats for sure, door gap,interior...i hope it gets priced as in need of partial resto instead of just " but its an XU1" and shiny...$150 000
