    Cricut just announced an exciting new product that is going to change how you make T-shirts, totebags, coasters, and more! If you’ve ever been frustrated at how iron-on vinyl (HTV) doesn’t seem to be as durable as you’d like, Cricut Infusible Ink changes all that. Cricut Infusible Ink is an all-new product that gives us commercial-level, permanent heat-transfer effects with rich color that is peel-proof, flake-proof, and wash-proof.
    So, are you ready to learn more? Let’s look more closely at how Cricut Infusible Ink actually works! This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you a penny more)! Read my full disclosure policy.
    HOW CRICUT INFUSIBLE INK WORKS:
    STEP 1: Choose a Cricut Infusible Ink-compatible blank, such as a T-shirt, baby bodysuit/onesie, tote bag, or ceramic coaster (those are the blanks I know of now-there should be more later!)
    STEP 2: Pick your Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets - there are both solid colors and patterns to choose from!
    STEP 3: Make your design in Cricut Design Space
    Cut your design out on the Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheet using a Cricut cutting machine (Explore, Joy or Maker)
    STEP 4: Use the heat from an EasyPress 2 to transfer the design on the blank - your heat source needs to get up to at least 390°F for the heat transfer to work.
    STEP 5: The ink is then infused into the surface - it is not an adhesive that melts onto the surface like iron-on vinyl (HTV). Unlike an iron-on transfer or vinyl application, where image is stuck to the top of a base material using an adhesive of some sort, an Infusible Ink heat transfer becomes one with the material itself. That’s why it works so well!
    INFUSIBLE INK TUTORIALS INCOMING!
    I just learned that Cricut is sending me a kit of Infusible Ink materials shortly so I can experiment and show you how they work in advance! So watch my blog for lots of fun and helpful tutorials and projects involving Infusible Ink! Sign up at jennifermaker....

    Some have said to bend a corner down to get it to "crack" to peel back. Not sure if that would be easier or not. Thanks for this testing Jennifer! I am anxious to see what other blanks this will work on besides Cricut blanks. Greg was an awesome helper to you as well! Can't wait to see what you do next with this Infusible ink! Thanks Jennifer! I have a gadget that measures the temperature of articles when you point it at it. I tested my small travel iron and the temperature at the highest setting was 400 degrees Fahrenheit!! It seemed to be the same all over and it would be interesting to try it on a small design. However, I have a steam press though I haven't tested the temperatures on that yet though the manufacturers say it goes up to 428 degrees! Worth a try since I can't afford an Easy Press at the moment. Brilliant experiment and I was amazed at the colour vibrancy with both tests. Thank you!

    Jennifer, thanks so much for testing using both the Easy Press 2 and the original Easy Press. I have the original and had been feeling unsure about whether to get excited about infusible ink. Now I know I'll be able to play, hurrah! Torrid has Sophie swing camis that are polyester and I'm dying to cut Anna Griffin medallion shapes to repeat in a line down the center. Just gotta wait for the ivory to come back in my size :-)

  • @lorbrn

    Thanks for the tutorial, Jennifer. Not thrilled with having to use polyester t-shirts with the infused ink. We have horrible heat & humidity in Central Texas during our overly long summer and polyester doesn’t breathe like cotton. Guess I will do winter t-shirts with this product. Disappointed with this limitation.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is because Infusible Inks are a form of sublimation ink, and sublimation inks only work with high-polyester or polymer-based products. It's just the nature of this technology. That said, I hear you about polyester -- I also prefer cotton. But we can make things besides shirts, so I'm still interested!

    • @lorbrn
      @lorbrn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Guess, I’ll forget about infusible inks, except for coasters. I knew there was a good reason for hating to wear polyester & spandex because I hate how it feels on my skin. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @swatts1195
      @swatts1195 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lorbrn I would NEVER have been interested in polyester. But please check out the Cricut blanks....the feel of the fabric is lovely. I could hardly believe it and I live in South Mississippi so humidity and heat are part of life. Maybe you could test it out. The product is fantastic.

    • @saraolivia750
      @saraolivia750 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can use it on a lower count polyester no lower than 50%... the lower the polyester the more vintage it will look after washing. Will not be as vibrant but does still keep alot of the ink.

I had a cricut imagine, but sold it just prior to the line being discontinued & when they came out with the expression 2. Jennifer that was a great tutorial. I know you didn't get a chance to use all the new tools. My question is how do the pens/markers come into play? Is it safe to assume that with all the different transfer sheets, there must be some plain white that would allow you to upload your own design and then color in with the pens/markers. This is what I would love to see in an upcoming tutorial on these fun new products.

    I am going to be purchasing a painted stainless steel travel mug from amazon. I am going to be applying some vinyl to it. Do I need to seal the vinyl in order to protect it?? The travel mug is hot/cold. Please help!!

    wow....good tip on the foil ball!!! so i have a question...can the infusible ink work on sublimation car coasters? Just trying to understand the terms infusible and sublimation. I'm thinking sublimation is the material and that infusible ink can work. ty

    I'm confused as to which butcher paper to use. Your link shows brown and white. Can you tell me which one you personally use? By the way, I love all of your tutorials. You're my go too!

      I used the white butcher paper that came with the Infusible Ink. ✨

    Thank you for this, Jennifer. I have the original EZ Press, the size you have, and I was wondering whether there would indeed be a difference in the quality of the transfer. Now, here's something interesting. We looked up on the internet butcher paper, and the description said it had wax in it. Oddly enough, the other videos on this product that I watched say to use butcher paper instead of parchment paper because the butcher paper absorbs and the pp has wax. Really? I'm going to leave that in your hands and I'll come back to see if you've had a chance to reply. I guess you can tell by the date I'm watching the replay,

    I'm little confused I see you need laser copy paper and machine draws what we want drawn my question is after it's drawn on laser paper then do we need to turn over the image to where the heat press heat seats it because it looks different when I've watched few others do this back side is blank and it looks like they don't put the image face down on the shirt so ink touches it

    Dumb question but which side of the butcher paper should be facing up? TIA

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vicki! Thanks for your question! Due to butcher paper being uncoated you can use either side.

      @@JenniferMaker the paper that comes with the ink transfer sheet seems to have a shiny coated side. I am assuming I put the uncoated side touching the fabric. Is the purpose to soak up moisture?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vickihudson4952 You could put it either way butcher paper acts as a barrier to protect your blank, Cricut EasyPress Mat, and Cricut EasyPress heat plate from unwanted transfer. The paper also helps capture any moisture that is released during the pressing process.

    Very demo, including yours, uses the Easy Press. Can you use a regular, household iron to use these Infusible Ink products?
    Thanks for the video. I always appreciate your thorough teaching.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You cannot use a regular household iron with Infusible Ink, as it needs to get hotter than what most irons can do and it needs to maintain that temperature precisely and consistently. That said, I will still experiment when I have some more transfer sheets to play with. :)

    So I’m interested if you have a 100% polyester if it would work because the bag is 100% polyester?? Seems like you could use it if it has the same content?
