    Thanks for this detailed video Angie. My husband is a realtor and I like to make personalized house warming gifts for his clients after they buy a home. Everything doesn't always have to be about money. Sometimes it's good to invest in something that you can use to bring someone else joy...a little smile, or some comfort. Cricut makes being thoughtful easier. At least for me anyway.

    I tried this on 100% Cotton. It did transfer but after I washed most of the ink is gone. I tried it on polyester cotton blend and it was okay and it didn’t wash out as much as the 100% Cotton. My best result came from a no boundaries shirt ( 92% polyester and 8% spandex) it did not wash out. It still looks as good as the Cricut blank shirt.

    Just a note: I have been working in this industry for a pretty long time now (not wanting to show my age). I have come to learn that the manufacturers of clothing design tshirts (specifically) to last for 50 washes. I KNOW I KNOW... I've got tshirts that I have had for decades (oops, age showing). HOWEVER, as with everything there is a "life expectancy" and 50 washes is the magical number. So, the "life" of a tshirt and the ink is probably 50 washes. Who will be here to show us a shirt that makes it to 100 washes??? :D This is an exciting product for the 'at home' market. I have been using large format printers and HTV for a few years and still prefer that method - it is quicker.

    Hi Angie, you just got yourself a new subscriber. I just recently got my new Cricut Maker 3 and as a beginner (even though I've been a crafter almost all my life, but in a different direction ... Miniatures and Dollhouses) it was hard to find out what I could do with my machine and especially how to use all the available materials and tools. Use material of at least 65% polyester content. The less poly content the more heathered it will look, but you need at least 65% for it to show well. Any shirt or product of high poly content that can be heat set will work. This is dye sublimation, period. Instead of dye sub ink printed onto coated paper to be transferred, you’re cutting preprinted paper or dye sub ink in marker form rather than dye sub ink in bottles to put into a bulk ink delivery system for a printer.

    Infusible products ARE available at Wal-Mart. Idk if they were not previously but they have been since I found out about infusible ink and that was a year ago. Saw it in Walmart on an end cap and had no idea why these t shirts and onsies were so special and what the ink was. Just a fyi bc although I like Michael's, a medium white woman's v neck t-shirt for infusible ink was almost $3 cheaper at Walmart.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At the time of the video, it was only at Michaels. The shirts have to be polyester but otherwise you can use any shirt.

    Late to the party, but so glad I found this video! Question: I saw a video where someone used multipurpose paper [for both laser and inkjet printers] and it looked like it came out great. Can multipurpose paper be used instead of purchasing laser printer-only paper? Many thanks!

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct. That is what I am using. It just needs to say it is okay for laser printers or copiers on the package.

  • @lisaleone2296
    @lisaleone2296 ปีที่แล้ว

    Infusible ink is EXACTLY sublimation - it impregnates dye into the material being printed using heat. The different Cricut products are for different "stages" of the process. With the pens, you make the design on the paper first, one color at a time, and then heat the paper to transfer the design to the material. The pattern sheets do the first part for you (putting the dye onto the paper) - you just need to cut out your design and heat-apply it to the material.

  • @heatercats
    @heatercats 4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Anita-rx6xe
    @Anita-rx6xe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It's still kinda like sublimation. I use sublimation and it requires a high percentage of polyester to transfer. I guess the Cricut process is a little less expensive because you don't have to purchase the Sawgrass printer and the very expensive inks that go along with the printer, and the special items that you have to use.

      The copy paper just needs to be able to withstand heat. My regular printer paper says on the back of the back that is is okay for laser printers and that is what I use.

    I have a cricut. Let me just say that I got it in may and I still havent even attempted to use it. You can now get the infusable ink at Joanne fabrics however I did not see anything to use it on. Also they have a whole isle dedicated to rolls of vinyl. Is that what it's for? To put vinyl on your shirts? That's not even cool or trendy

      Heat transfer vinyl does go on shirts, yes.

    Yes you can use a regular cotton shirt sweater whatever it don’t have to be Infuse kind it works just fine on my tank tops as well as face mask so save some money n buy regular cotton shirts
    Nothing too fancy

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This product will wash right out of cotton shirts or anything else that doesn't have polyester. You don't have to buy Cricut shirts but they do need to be at least 75% polyester content.

    Is there a cricut for guys channel? I can't be the only guy who is interested in stuff that's not revolving around mermaids, ponies, and other things that would fall under mom/daughter projects.

    Amazing video! I got infusible ink and cricut coasters for a birthday gift. Sadly, I've been too intimated to try it. I have a question, would it be okay to just use more butcher paper instead of the white cardstock? I'm worried about the cardstock burning up.Thanks for sharing!

    first of all, let me thank you for your well-explained videos. I've watched A LOT of vids recently trying to figure vinyl/ htv and infusible ink out and yours are very watchable. My question is this- can I layer HTV on top of infusible ink? I want to make / draw an icon onto a canvas tote w the ink and add a name over the icon in HTV. Is that possible? Ty

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have done it. You do run the risk of the Infusible Ink fading once heated a second time. Usually with HTV it does not. Be sure to use protective paper though as you might get ink on your press.

    I like that the tote designs were on one tote bag lol. Nice video though, I keep seeing invisible ink ads but lno description of what it is/capable of. It’s really neat. Hopefully some companies will put out cheaper products of it all because as others have said, you can spend a lot more making a shirt than just buying one.

    I want to put a design on a 4x4 canvas bag. I was going to use a mini press but what should I do to prevent the ink from going to the back. Will putting butcher paper on the inside resolve that?

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would put a piece of white cardstock on the inside.

    I have a question regarding where you moved the "waves"...if you didn't get it exactly right when placing it on the infusible ink transfer, can you move it again, or is it just "stuck" at that point (as in...be careful when placing...LOL)

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can move it around before pressing.

  • @lindabradford9591

    My cricut is cutting all the way through (only some places tho) the infusible ink sheets on default cut. Why is that? Thanks Angie in advance and for the video.

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  ปีที่แล้ว

      Infusible Ink can be tough. Each color is slightly different in thickness because of the way they apply the ink. This can lead to cuts that don't go all the way through and cuts that cut all the way through the backing. I would recommend doing a test cut.

    New to Cricut, love your videos. Bought it to make stained glass patterns, but see endless possibilities. Regarding infusible ink. I've been asked to make a couple of T-shirts for a breast cancer golf outing auction. I've got the design I want. My question is: I have an older dry mount (heat) press with an analog temperature setting, going only to 350 degrees. The infusible ink videos I've seen use 400 degrees. Can I use infusible ink at a lower setting for a longer period of time? If so is there a magic number or way to determine how long (say at 350 degrees)? Thanks for any help!

    • @AngieHolden
      @AngieHolden  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You really need 400 degrees for Infusible Ink.

    Polyster/cotton blend shirts work. Polyester needs to be higher than 90% though
