I swear you are the Bob Ross of RC... I can listen to you go on and on for days enjoying it the whole time! Thanks for the build, thanks for the entertainment and especially thanks for all you do for the hobby!!!!!
Can't say enough good things about the SHV500 servo. Ran multiple Altra Ultra's with it, and has never let me down. Fantastic product. And this was a very entertaining video John. Thank you!
I'm doing the exact same build, but using as much stock parts as i can in the beginning. Traxxas makes longer rod link ends. Put them on the top links and they align on the chassis with a 12.3 wheelbase. I have your crawlmaster sport powered by a 1080. I'm super impressed with your work. Its inspired me to start my own stuff. I really like gears and math. One day I may have some stuff that will be of use to you
John, CONGRATS on SWEEPING the Podium with Brushed Motors!!! 😎👋👋👋👋👋👋 Speaks volumes about HH Products. But then I've been a loyal customer for nearly a Decade!! Quite the cool Chassis! THAT'S going to be sold under the Holmes Hobbies name? The thing that really got my attention is that TRANSMISSION!! 😳😊 Nice low profile and I'm SURE damn nearly bulletproof. This is going to be so awesome, seeing you do a full-on Custom Comp build! Best of luck. I wish you and your Family a very Happy and prosperous New Year!! 🎉🍻🎉🍺🍹🍻 Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Just about finished with my custom built rig. CCW Battle Axe with a forward transmission and transfer case from InTheWorksRC. It’s also got SSD Diamond axles and Egressor Shocks from RCBros. ShiftRC servo, Reefs Servo Winch and CCW titanium wheels with Team Brood magnesium hub/hex combos. It’s also running a V2 Snubnose with Mamba MicroX. Can’t wait to drive it!
I use mostly stainless, I order them by the hundreds from McMaster Carr. If I have trouble finding the size screw I need, it's an excuse for another stock up order. I also use their hex drivers. great tools, and alot better prices than "RC" specific screws. Some of these companies probably get their screws from Mcmaster Carr, and repackage with big profit that we are paying for.
Very cool custom build. I have redcat portal axels that i am custom mounting on to a scx10 Chassis. Links were a pain to figure out but, I did manage to figure it out. Looking forward to seeing ur build out on rocks👍🏼🤙🏼
I use knk screws. Depending on wat look im goin for whether i use stainless or black oxide. Those frame rails are pretty sweet, really like the gear n hh integration to the rails
Sounds like you got in when I got out. Only heard stories of people building crawlers. I lived in the Boondocks which would have been perfect for these things, but I was young and inexperienced and no local mentoring hindered my growth. My Traxxas Rustler had a mechanical speed control! And the 10-15 runtime slowed my interest. Wish I had lasted a little longer might have kept up with the game. Just acquired 2 of the Axial scx10ii 2017 jeeps. Mind boggling how much has changed in over 20 years. But I seem to be picking it back up pretty quick. Been loving the videos you have and some other enthusiasts. Wish we had had this back then. Greatly appreciate the information and entertainment. Good luck on future endeavors.
Oh man, when he mentioned traveling less because of reasons, but they weren't going to stop him next year, I'm thinking ,"he was just out here @ Proline by the Fire! Good to see he's able to stick to those plans!" Then I checked the date of the video: December 2019. Ooph.
Since there's an angle, I'd have thought you would want the high side of the skid to the front of the rig to allow for moving over rocks with less chance of high centering. Did I miss something?
John with your new esc and the new revolvers would you still pick a brushed motor over your new setups? Also, do you know how many motors were brushed vs brushless at scale nationals this year?
Hey John, just ordered a Sherpa Expert kit from Super Shafty last night. I already own a Axial Capra 1.9, and was wondering if I could use the axles with the Sherpa? Only asking because it’s a 4 link and I see your using 3 link with pan hard rod on your build.
i have just built up my ftx mauler with scx10 cnc axles ,boom racing high mass wheels ,husler tyres ,a hobby wing 1080 esc ,a 46 kilo waterproof jx digtal servo and a hh crawl master pro 550 12 turn motor which is fanastic only tried it around my house and back garden as am still fine tunning also changing the body out to what i want and i want something different
Hey John, thanks for sharing all the awesome videos. I'm new at this hobby. I just build the capra, awesome, fun build. I have a hobbiewing 10/80 brushed esc, and axial 27 t.in it . Would like to upgrade to one of your motors. I was thinking 16t pro crawler. Not sure how to order (motor rotation, timing, and leads) 4mm bullet leads on esc now. I did watch you capra videos. Thanks again. W.A.
I like this build alot, keep us posted for sure. I've got 3 of your v2 servos now, got the 1st one with an extra set of replacement gears it did so well I purchased 2 more and haven't used the extra gears yet! I use black oxide from Fastenal, great company. I hope you guys will be selling the hh chassis or chassis kit maybe? That would be great. Luck to you and yours in 2020.🤠🇺🇸☝️
You made it seem that you could easily choose what side to put the motor on, but doesn’t that trans have built-in overdrive, making installation work only in one direction?
I consider the chassis as the main name. I have my SCX10 II on a Rock Pirates Interceptor chassis, but wouldn't consider it an SCX10 II, but I'll call an "SCX10 II based Interceptor"
Have you ever looked at polymagnets? Saw them on smarter every day episode 153. Think it was titled magic magnets. But when you said you got the mags figured out, I thought about it again. You just might find a whole new level of madness with them. Check out that vid
I've designed and tested multisegment polymagnet layouts. Not really needed for most motor design since we can tweak airgap, strength, and magnet coverage to do what we want.
Great stuff coming out from Holmes and TGH for sure. I will definitely be building one of these when the product hits the market. John, is that prototype motor the "lil tugger" or something else? I would definitely be interested in running one in the 2020 comp season. Great video as always 👌
Hi John - remember me? You talked me into resubscribing. I just watched this release and I get it, now. You just have a different way of presenting your build and it's pretty neat listening to a person talk about a motor design like '...I think I nailed this one...' Those frame rails look like something I've always wanted and just didn't know it. I'm very tempted to buy a couple for my first scratch build, but if I do, I promise I'll put one of your motors in it. (And then put an RCSparks sticker on the hood HAHA naw, I couldn't be that mean). Here's a question I'm sure you've been asked a zillion times: Does your company make a waterproof, sensored, brushless motor?
All our brushless is technically waterproof. We call them water resistant so people aren't inclined to leave them wet to rust though. Sensor boards are always conformally coated
When you mould anything out of NYLON you MUST SOAK THEM for at least 24 hours or a steam cupboard for 8. Nylon is so brittle when new it pays to soak anything you buy or make out of Nylon. When I worked for days on 2of us had to stay in Germany for a month changing all the European stock of the dc05 hose collars just because they hadn’t been treated properly. Not even a thank you, just redundancy.

Why do you think he has "Rob Rocks" skits?
@@OpSic66 I hadn't seen them yet. Just got back into RC and getting caught up with what's going on.

Great video, can’t wait for the next one already 🤙

..... You were speaking of Torque Twist - but that Chassis has built-in RULRs. I don't see that being an issue. 😉
we will be selling the chassis
This may be my favorite build yet. Can't wait till the next video.
Very nice & what a away to throw the new motor can't wait would never run another aftermarket can unless it's a Holmes!!! Your awesome John thank you.
The motor layout and explanation was great and much appreciated 🤘. I'm stupid when it comes to choosing motors. This really helped. Thank you.
McMaster is my go to for all my hardware.
i love my 540 13 t 5 poll hand wrapped . thanks Holmes Hobbies

That brown 13t motor is amazing loved mine. Even on a stock esc it’s so quiet all you heard was the gears in the transmission
Super cool build.. I look forward to the finished product just as much as I look forward to magnum crawlmaster motors comming back in stock.
Excellent video! Love all the motor analysis 👍
I've only got an allotted amount to spend on my Capra. I also have food, rent, gas etc. to buy. But I will build my Capra. Thank you.

you can pick it back up at any time though! Its been fun watching the segment go from 100% home fabbing to pretty sweet RTRs

I am building to mattzilla chassis. One Jeep scx10 ii and a tundra scx10 . For a trail cup in Denmark 👍
Epic.
Pat on the back Mr H 👍

So far so good 👍
Are you going to produce, and sell those chassis rails?
yes
I call it based on the chassis. My Capra axles are under a Brazin Team, so I call it a Brazin
How would someone get to test run or review motors and stuff that u would send and then run and review?
Is that new motor available yet?
Hey John, just ordered a Sherpa Expert kit from Super Shafty last night. I already own a Axial Capra 1.9, and was wondering if I could use the axles with the Sherpa? Only asking because it’s a 4 link and I see your using 3 link with pan hard rod on your build.
Do you have a video explaining the skewed poles?
not specifically. I may talk about it in the brushed puller vid
I have the BLS SHV5OOv2 servo in my hpi venture I have had it for a while I like it another guy told me about it
What esc did you use with that motor?
i have just built up my ftx mauler with scx10 cnc axles ,boom racing high mass wheels ,husler tyres ,a hobby wing 1080 esc ,a 46 kilo waterproof jx digtal servo and a hh crawl master pro 550 12 turn motor which is fanastic only tried it around my house and back garden as am still fine tunning also changing the body out to what i want and i want something different

Using 3s lipo
motor leads would make it plug and play. Capra uses reverse rotation. Timing at zero is fine
Is there a release date for the v3 of so we just need to stayed tuned
just a few weeks
"Wrong hole, fool." lmao
I bout fell the fuk over laughing. I can see yall have seen "Dont be a menace to society while drinking your juice in the hood"

It can be rebuilt with outputs on either side. As it sits, yes there would be a correct install.
Do you use stainless or black oxide screws
Need an update on this build Jon
I need a follow up to this video!
wow!!!! instant stiffy when you said v3, i've been waiting for months for this servo to come out, when will it be available???? soon i hope;)
and a new motor......jesus are you tryin to give me a stroke here ........oh i'm droolin
a few weeks now
Always stainless steel because or rust and they look great imo

Is C2/C3 2.2 or 1.9?
The Capra links don't work.
month ago I buy a TRX intending to be a casual hobbyist in RC.. today here i am....

its a magnum stubby, or something along those lines.
@@HolmesHobbies I would love to run one at nationals if I may purchase one
I'm building a similar rig called the rock machine using mostly holmes hobbies parts
Send me one of those new motors for my c1 build for scale nationals..
Good luck with the build. See you at scale nationals.
where can we get the file for the frame sliders? stl
not mine to give away. If I design my own I'll release it
I use black oxide from Ali Express. Bags of 100 of various sizes
This is gunna be really cool.
I'm assuming Class 1?
It says c2/c3 in the title lol
class 1 as well on the chassis, but this build is class 2
@@lawrenceshields8791 That was a typo....I meant to say C2
Lol I love this
Maybe you said it and I missed it, four wheel steering?
not right now.

Some of us younger guys just wanna wear our beards even though it makes us look a little more...distinguished lol
Has anyone upgraded their rig so much that the only things left stock are the chassis and some other parts?
I get my stainless steel screws from Rc screewz
I bought one of your motors before I watched you Or heard of you
You should sale those chassis. I need one bad
will have some soon
I purchase my hardware from ebay, just some cheap stuff, but they do the job
💪💪👌👍👍
How dare 2 people give this a thumbs down!
I would buy a Holmes hobbies lcg chassis for my Trx4 sport hint hint🤩🤩🤩
I get all my bulk hardware from Fastenal 🤘 by bulk, I mean I buy about 200 off everything I need lol
