Yeah, the Genshin Impact soundtrack is like a 500+ space dartboard where every throw hits a bullseye

The fact I love Liyue Harbor in Genshin Impact is mostly because of the music. I grew up on Chinese dramas and it's like a second home to me, so when I came to Liyue (after the first city being a pretty standard western fantasy town), I was almost crying. I literally could run around in the world that I've only seen on TV and just soak in the atmosphere, especially at night with all the lanterns :D And yes, the picture is indeed Liyue!

I agree, I like Sumeru's music as well but I keep coming back to Liyue to hang out/afk. My teapot uses Liyue's tracks.

Finally!! It took more than one year for another Genshin song! 😭❤️ I'm very glad it was the whole Liyue Harbor themes course and love how in point you were describing their hard work. Not saying which music it is, but there is a song that even uses the Fibonacci Sequence as rhythm. :3
I'm very curious how you'll react to other songs from other regions of the game.
Maybe in 2027 Jesse will get to Sumeru OST! 🥲😂

There are many Live symphony orchestra performances of Genshin
Such as Sumeru played by London philharmonic orchestra , Inazuma played by Tokyo philharmonic orchestra

If Genshin Impact / Hoyoverse (formerly Mihoyo) does anything right, it's 100% the music. Every track in every area is so memorable and distinct

It's an unfortunate truth that a digital slot machine simulator can get away with a lot of scummy tactics as long as it has a nice soundtrack.

some people really want to shit one everything popular huh, hoyo gave us everything free, and you don't even need to pull 5 stars to do anything, sure hoyo had its flaws, but never scam, what did they even scam you of? if you have gambling addiction then if you play any gacha games its the same :/ "nice soundtrack" they literally use all the famous orchestra and they love scaramouche boss theme so much they hire an opera singer who have sing in famous game's soundtrack to do a cover, FOR FREE

Genshin is really good at that mixing of old and new, it's doing so much groundbreaking stuff right now. Yu-Peng Chen is a mad genius, I'm always looking forward to what he comes up with next. Never expected to like Genshin's (and Star Rail, the new game) music as much as I do, and now it's one of my favourites along with Persona, Nier and FFXIV. There's some live perfomances as well with full orchestras and choirs that are definitely worth checking out.

Lee-you-eh, quickly, almost like its rolling off your tongue (tbh your attempt was better than some instances in the english voiceover 💀)
    Everything else you pronounced fine.
So just to clarify a little bit, this is track 1 on "Jade Moon Upon a Sea of Clouds," the 3rd Album for Genshin's OST. Each album is based on a specific region, in this case, it's Liyue.
The song is actually a combination of three themes, since in-game they're played separately. The first two are variations of the same track, the first one ending at about 2:11, the second at 3:20ish, which just play in Liyue Harbor, the main city of that region, and the last is a theme representative of Liyue as a whole used during the in-game equivalent of Chinese New Year, called Lantern Rite Festival. They're bundled together because they share the Liyue [Harbor] leitmotif which plays towards the end of the 2nd and 3rd iteration.
Yu-peng Chen has done a fantastic job of utilising instruments for the each of the respective regions, Liyue being based on China of course has a lot of Chinese instruments and sounds. It does a good job of subconsciously letting the player know where they are in the game. Funnily enough, I think it's no coincidence that everything you've already heard and a lot of what's coming is music from Liyue, both Rex Incognito and Azhdaha's theme are from there. Chinese instrumentation is something we arent normally exposed to so Liyue has been a nice gateway into that sound for a lot of folks I would imagine.

  • @herb2110
    @herb2110 ปีที่แล้ว +15

To give a little bit of background for this theme, Genshin's world is split up into 7 main regions, each of which represents a different real world culture. The nation of Liyue draws inspiration from China, and thus, uses several traditional Chinese instruments. This also means that the OSTs of the other regions use their respective culture's instruments as well (ie: the latest region, Sumeru, uses various Indian and Egyptian instrumentation. It all leads to a very diverse sounding OST without it sounding disparate.

One of my favorite Genshin Impact OST is called "Lovers' Oath". It's not often recommended by anyone because it's considered more of a meme among the community imo. But I really love that soundtrack, more so after I played the game and know more about the characters involved. I hope you get to listen to it one day.

genshin is an open world (gacha) game that takes inspiration on real life regions of the world for the places you travel to and the music you hear amongst each area. liyue is specifically inspired by china. one hundred percent, i'd wanna see you take a crack at scaramouche's boss theme since it has a mix of latin, japanese, and techno sounds all rolled into one.

I'd say don't worry about mispronouncing Liyue, there's like...5 different ways the voice actors pronounce it in game nobody knows how to say it right in English lol As for the theme Liyue, I'd say the best leitmotif of it comes with this festival they hold around Chinese New Year called Lantern Rite. You get used to the song "Liyue" and then the Lantern Rite comes along and it's so beautiful and bright and just brings all the feels. It adds more percussion, string instruments and wind instruments. I think the song itself is just called "Lantern Rite"

Someone else alluded to the same thing, but Liyue is where Genshin finally clicked for me.
The first region and big town of this open world game are kind of generic, and while they come off as extremely impressive for a free-to-play gacha game, it doesn't feel special
Liyue as a whole feels like, this is it. This game has an identity. It's still mired by all the trappings of free-to-play gacha, but there is love and craftsmanship at play. The flourishes of the geography, the harbour town, the music, and the obvious love for Chinese culture that is expressed through them really comes through.

I've heard lots about this game and my younger brother played it at one point with his friends. I heard music from it here and there.
This feels like a bright sunny day at 9:00 AM lol, the flute tone reminds me of a random licensed PS1 game. This gives me "start of a new day" vibe. When that bass comes in 2:16 I start to like this song, good chords and the string went crazy with that solo. The section right after is so soothing and reminds me of the past, I don't know how to feel about that since it makes me emotional. This gives me small town vibes where there's nothing but peace and happiness, parts of this give me some real film score vibes especially at the end. This was great and I really like this song, I'll have to listen to it a few more times to see if I want to add it to my collection.
