Would love to see you cover Remura's Soundtrack, as, to me, it feels almost like a love letter to classical music, with Requiem Resonatia being another Hoyo OST inspired by Vivaldi IMO, specifically to me feeling similar to Violin Concerto in A Minor Also, in case you do check it out, one of the favorites, Year of Tribulation, was used for just a single 3 minute or so mini-game that can't be replayed, which is a crime IMO Also also, not sure if calling the right genre but i think Consolation of Many Waters might be the first LoFi OST for genshin, unless i forgot some
I remember hearing Jade Chimes for the first time during the main quest walking up the mountain and it instantly made me stop to just listen. It's my absolute favorite Genshin ost together with Shade of Flowers.
One thing to be take notes is that, after yu peng's departure from hoyo mix, the music of genshin got diversified in terms of musical inspiration. music got a mix of,well everything. That's why Chenyu vale sounds a bit different from typical liyue since the inspiration for chenyu vale is taken from a particular region of china.
18:57 FYI... this was the track that played during the cutscene of the most recent Lantern Rite. The battle theme you think you heard is actual part of Gaming's dance routine.
If you've not seen the Inazuma 2.0 livestream, Yu Peng Chen performed the two major Inazuma themes purely on piano at the start and end of the stream and man...I still go back and listen to them time to time.
There are a few different instruments here, 古筝(guzheng),葫芦丝(hulusi),二胡(erhu),琵琶(pipa),and possibly, 笛(di),芦笙(lusheng),if you are interested, you can look it up.
About "Jade Chimes", the main instrument was called "Bianzhong '編鐘'(Set Chimes)", which has at least 2700 years history (known as the Eastern Zhou dynasty) and this instrument was an important instrument in China's ritual and court. The scale was also based on the Pentatonic Scale which was invented by the ancient Chinese at that time. Number of players needed was depended by how big the set was. And there's a funny fact, beside the Bianzhong, there's another set instrument called "Bianqing(編磐)" (a set of L-shaped flat stone/jade chimes, invented at the same era) which used to play together with the Bianzhong. It can play 12 pitches (ancient Chinese pitches). Confucius was a talented maker of this. The sound that so clear but not from the metal maybe come from the Bianqing. Actually, the title came from this instrument rather than the Bianzhong. If you are interested, you may search the wikipedia with keywords "Bianzhong" and "Bianqing" to know more about these ancient instruments.
I so love genshin music, especially chenyu vale music, fontaine leitmotif, Arlechino and all devouring narvall battle themes, but varukasha oasis and every music from 3.6 desert will always be my favorite, just like this 2 locations;) 😅
Always love to hear people enjoying music I grew up listening to. Chenyu Vale definitely has one of my favorite soundtracks and I'm ashamed I haven't spent more time in that little village. I particularly love the Pleasure of Rural Life track for how playful it is (it was also used as the mainline co-op event bgm during Lantern Rite). Which reminds me, I went back to rewatch the 2024 Lantern Rite cutscene and I cried
I genuinely thought Fontaine's OST could not be beaten, but I was proven wrong as soon as I heard Springtide of Qiaoying when I arrived at Qiaoying Village! Traveling in Chenyu Vale feels incredibly refreshing compared to other areas in the game.
For Riddles, For Wonder is still my #1 top track, and I'd put the top few Sumeru tracks number 1 as far as regions go, but maaaaan Liyue was already close and 4.5 made it even closer.
For all of the Chenyu Vale tracks, the woodwind instrument used is likely a Hulusi 葫芦丝 (pronounced as Hoo-loo-sss, the sss is like a snake hissing sound), or a Bawu 巴乌 (pronounced as Ba-ooh, but don’t pronounce the h). They are Chinese traditional woodwind instruments. I recommend Googling them to see what they look like. The Bawu is similar to a flute 🪈, while the Hulusi looks like a pan-flute crossed with a gourd. For Jade Chimes, the bells used is called Bianzhong 编钟 (Bee-an-jong, pronounce the “Bee-an” really quickly). It is essentially a giant rack of bronze bells, and they look like massive chimes. In fact, Ancient China was the first country to use musical chimes all the way back in the Zhou dynasty in 1046-256 BCE according to Wikipedia. As for Moonlit Lanterns, the loud “Trumpet-like” instrument is called a Suona 唢呐 (Swo-na, it sounds similar to Sona, but just add an extra “uo” in front). It originated in Ancient Iran, and was called Sorna (hence why the Chinese name sounds similar). The shape of a Suona resembles that of a Trumpet 🎺 Hopefully this helps!
18:18 The answer is simply No. Chenyu Vale is released in 2024, but Yu-peng Chen almost stopped composing for Genshin in early 2023. You can hardly see his name after the Sumeru desert album.
Which is great, his compositions were amazing, I’m excited for his next career step. It’s wonderful to have different very talented composers now involved. Great for all
I was really hoping for a reaction of Garden Of Jade. Takes a little bit to get to the point, but it hits harder for me than Jade Chimes melodically (even though that's more about resonance).
Erhu is so unique that its sound quality almost sounds like human voice in a way that when it plays it always be like someone telling / singing a story with heart.
Which regional soundtrack from Genshin should we cover next?

Sea of bygone eras is so beautiful
Simulanka, the limited area that's out right now. They already released the tracks.
SEA OF BYGONE ERAS

I'm so glad that people love Jade Chimes too. It's just that heavenly that I stopped and soaked it in when I first heard it.
Jade chimes is unlocked after a world quest, and when i first heard it, in so beautiful and atmospheric area... 😍😅😍

Erhu was the instrument that stopped on the track he first time I explored Liyue, it's so calming~

BGMs of Chenyu Vale and Vourukasha Oasis are my favorites.
Absolutely the same, and this are my favorite locations too ;) 😅
Especially 3.6 desert, and every music there

the pari music is PEAK
The oasis song is in my teapot, I sometimes just hang out and let it play.

Moonlit Lanterns is an lantern rite festival event cutscene soundtrack
A mild tale untold❤
please listen to remuria & petrichor's album too :D
13:40 it's something similar to marana from sumeru, btw geo traveler's "e" glows purple instead of yellow in these zones
Music of Chenyu Vale is very good.
8:01 the beginning sounds like lover's oath
Lantern rite music gets me all the time, it’s my favorite time of year in Genshin.
fyi, Moonlit Lanterns was from lantern rite cutscene

I love Night's Whispering Breath

You forgot the boatmen hehehehe
You miss “ Creek of Nostalgia “ 🥲
If I heard correctly Yu Peng left around Sumeru
jade chimes reminds me of spyro, but not the jump n run, the original story, still miss it
we can complained on everything in genshin but the OST is definitely not one of them
No, Yu-Peng Chen wasn't involved in this album. At least he's nowhere in the credits. Mountainborn Gale is composed by Yang Lee.
I hardly recommend to listen to Distant Gleam of Lingshu if you like OST of Chenyu Vale
👀 could you please react to the cover of Samuradrath by Alejandro Sabb and Nicholas Leung, Jing Yuan's Va and Dan Heng's Va
It’s really good but imo Sumeru’s soundtrack is still unbeaten
please react to "dust" from prg
Erhu is so unique that its sound quality almost sounds like human voice in a way that when it plays it always be like someone telling / singing a story with heart.
