This was absolutely the best Sonic game of all time in my opinion. The story was incredible, the characters were great and memorable, the graphics were awesome, the controls were seamless, and it had by far the best, most epic music in any Sonic game ever made. This is the standard that I hold all Sonic games (and most video games of any kind) to even until this day.

TheWraithOfMooCow People can have opinions, but that doesn't mean they're correct. The game has stayed the same while game development hasn't. What was once considered great before is know archaic and frustrating.
Looking back at it now, the boss battle mechanics were not good. But, just the idea; the very concept alone of this battle is what made it so fucking epic. Just thinking about the fact that that's progression of the same Hedgehog that was once running through Emerald Hills rescuing animals and running fast to blazing at hyper sonic speeds through outer space to save the Earth from a falling space station and before they, _Super Sonic_ and _Super Shadow_ (and the ship!), burn up in the atmosphere. Heroically, they use all their remaining power to make a MASSIVE _Chaos Control_ to teleport it away from earth... plus that song. The very idea of this fight _ascended_ what I imagined was possible for the characters Sonic and Shadow. I sat there in 2001, awestruck, motionless, with my mind blown the fuck out and the Dreamcast controller vibrating in my hands...
Try explaining this ending to a friend who's never played the game. Sonic and Rouge’s little talk really gets me. It speaks volumes more of shadow’s character development and even Rouge’s development as she is now more calm and gentle instead of being a grumpy thief. Not to mention shadow saved rouge from the island explosion and became great friends. So it must hurt for rouge to see this. Same even goes for sonic. Him and shadow had fights but in the end they learned each other’s way and became friends and sonic saw shadow’s motivations and started to understand him. I agree, definitely the best ending. On a side note i can see why that despite its great success, Sonic mania gets so much flak from the adventure era fans. Devlinjustus sonic mania is great and Sonic Forces should of been better but it’s still a decent game
Gaming_Is_Art88 i at least want a remake 5:06 this is one of the bigger reasons why
Sonic 06 would have been a worthy successor IF IT WASN'T SO BUGGY
@Tal Ken uhhh, is it possible I can take that back after seeing Forces lol
I really hope the Sonic 3 movie will be as good as this.
I remember playing this over and over again because I love the song! Good times (:
4:55 the moment that everyone is celebrating around the world that the ark is saved. Very nice
I need Sonic 3 to end like this
Damn that ending still destroys me 💔
don't start, I already feel myself about to fall on floor again crying..
fUCK I JIST GOT FEELS I FUCKIGN FORGOT SHADOW DIES
gp'16 he dosent when shadow the hedgehog the game was made he was a live but lost his memories
No his original organic body was incinerated. What you see now is his soul in an android body.
No it's the real shadow body and all
Zachary Kenniston Eggman saved him after he fell. They show this in Sonic Heroes and Shadow The Hedgehog.
If this is not played in the movie someone is gonna pay
This will be the cherry on top😊
Live and Learn, what a awesome song. Nintendo could never do this, I miss Sega
why sega does what nintendont. gotta love sonic/Sega are u pateiently waiting on 2016 movie
voutespancar they did....
Actually sega sucks now lol
Mohammad M yeah, they really forgot what made sonic good. I wouldn't mind the nostalgia factor if it wasn't all that they were relying on
As epic as metriod and zelda can be sonic is more so.
This should of been the ending of the whole franchise with a masterpiece ending of the antagonist joining the good side Brilliant.
I think that was the intention initially…
I miss those moments...in actual Sonic Games...because Sonic Boom will never be epic as this...
did sonic mania meet expectations
@@omarpikm2101and Shadow Generations
When this story gets retold, Shadow's death should really be made permanent.
Or atleast not bring him back the NEXT game lol
That last shot of Shadow infront of earth still gives me goosebumps remembering how it felt completing this game and thinking he was dead before there was any mention of bringing him back
The subtitles are in comic sans...
This was the late 90's dude !
Mrnicknick02 it came out in the early 2000's.
2001 to be exact
HAH! You think that's bad? The entire kingdom hearts SERIES is in comic sans, and it's still a great game. Admit it, you probably didn't even NOTICE until I pointed it out.
Neil Wilson coming out in the 2000’s or not, it’s not like it just poofed into mid air. It had to be developed. So yes, this was the late 90’s.
4:38 I cried so hard over this as a kid forever the best sonic game
This is so Badass
Younger me lost his shit when Sonic and Shadow both turned Super. Then that boss battle and boss music. Memories.
Gotta go Fast!!!
Don't tell me you've got a catchphrase
That's right new hedgehog. And everyone loves it!!
Imagine this in sonic 3 (2024)
We Got It After Sonic 3🔥🔥🔥
The best ending in the entire series imo
I agree, definitely the best ending. On a side note i can see why that despite its great success, Sonic mania gets so much flak from the adventure era fans. Christian whitehead made sonic mania to remind the classic era fans of the good times, As a hybrid fan( Im a fan of all 3 eras of Sonic the hedgehog), i wish that he makes sonic adventure 3, and do the same with the adventure era fans.
Best ending in any game, ever.
Sonic & Shadow transforming into Super Sonic & Super Shadow, joining forces with Dr Robotnik to defeat Dr. Robotnik's grandfather's masterplan and save the promise Shadow made to Maria Robotnik, Shadow making the ultimate sacrifice. All that while listening to the soundtrack from the Japanese rock band Crush40.
BEST. EVER.
UNBEATEN SINCE 2001.
This ending is f****** incredible. Such a huge part of my childhood :,). I don’t think it will ever be topped in a sonic game. The music made you feel like you were a complete badass
It's been 21 years, and I'm still crying to this very day... for real though... it was.. beautiful!! It really truly was... the rarest of the rare jewels..
This is how Sonic 3 NEEDS to End.
Fax
It probably will
And then shadow spin off series (based off from the game)
@@LightIsPersonagreed
Well we got our wish 💯
Nostalgia.
This game is so epic.
One of the Best Games ever made
This is my favorite boss and ending in the franchise. It had great music, great delivery, lots of adrenaline, and a good final ending. Best finale
At least they did not spoil shadow dying in the sonic 3 movie. Because we clearly know that will be based off of this game.
0:25
"Sonic, do you like getting peed on?"
*"yes I do"*
Just wait till you see them “pee” on the moon in sonic 3. 😂😂😂
I hope the third Sonic film will take on this story
Who's here after the ending of Sonic Frontiers, it's been like 2 decades but I haven't felt like this since this game's ending, glad to finally have this level of depth and epicness into the mainline Sonic game.
Can we just appreciate how Sonic was making sure if Shadow was ok?
I can't even
I love this game, but the beginning looks like a Shake Weight commercial.
*”Sayōnara, Shadow the Hedgehog…”*
😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭
10 years old: I cry
20 years old: I cry
30 years old:...... Still cry 🤣
One of the BEST endings if not THEE best ending I have experienced
Damn I remember when I used to take turns with my big bro on this part! I used to play shadow, and him sonic and we'd just pass the controller lol good times #nostalgia
I teared up back then and I am watching it now,. many years later.
The Sonic series peaked with this entry. Afterwards it's been hit or miss
Shadow: I Must Destroy all the evil the professor has created
Just finished this game at 22:45 today. I loved it so much. Even though the last stage took me FOREVER, I am so happy I got to play it. Best Sonic game ever.
No video game boss battle was ever this epic I could be wrong but this one I felt it
SAME
7:02 Come on! Let's go home! (So nostalgic)
They need to remake this game for modern times. Beautiful new visuals and improved controls and level design would be a win-win for everyone.
Chills. Every. Single. Time.
One of my greatest childhood memories captured in one video. Not to mention one of the most epic gaming moments in history imo.
I thought this stage was SO cool as a kid. So dramatic, so tense! I remember having a snow day at school and spending the entire day playing this game on my Gamecube. Ah, memories!
Who else got goosebumps as a kid at this part? 0:36
I wish Sonic games were still like this 😞
This makes me so damn emotional everytime. The nostalgia may as well be taking a chainsaw to me.
same man.. My heart.. is bleeding.. from inside.. that's how I feel.. right now.. it's melted/melting.. like a Chemical Plant gone bad..
The last epic Sonic ending... 😢
my childhood so many damn memories this is still my all time favorite video game
0:13 When me and the homie find that one girl's pornstar name
This felt like a actual serious attempt at a 3d sonic ending
I love it
5:29/5:30 Reminds me of John Lennon, that. I just watched a documentary about his death and at one point, after the hospital staff failed to revive John, one of the members of staff gave John Lennon's ring to his wife, Yoko Ono. I wonder if Sonic Team/SEGA took inspiration from that same documentary?
