Thanks for checking out my video. And yeah a lot commented on this issue, and said by undervolting the GPU, it lowered the load temperatures to the low to mid 70's while still maintaining good core clock speeds.
Yea it hard to dissipate the heat on a 400 watts plus card but with an undervolt you can even gain some performance and run in the low to mid 70’s. But it also depends on your case and ambient temperature. But I have to say coming from a strix 2080ti i was a little let down by the ftw3’s temps.
I have the Evga XC3 3080TI and thermals were even worse! 86c after 40 minutes playing Hitman 3, Cyberpunk or RE3 everything stock, had to set fan curve to 80% at 70c also setting my case fans steady at 75% to keep it steady at around 80c. It's a bit ridiculous, thought the ftw would be better due to larger heatsink and fans. After tinkering with undervolting I was able to cut the Temps down another 7c setting it to 786mv at 1750mhz

It only does that if you modify the fan profile, I left mine on the auto factory settings, and I can assure you all 3 fans were spinning at the same speed. But I know for sure on the auto fan profile, which is what I using, it was spinning all the fans. The fix for the higher temperatures though seems to be unvolting, which lowers the load temperatures to around 69-73c, and yeah I wasn't the only one experiencing the higher than normal temperatures, if you read some of the other comments posted on this video.
I did use 3 separate cables, but on an EVGA power supply every other additional cable after the 2nd has an separate portion for a 6 pin, that I just don't use, and tuck away. It has never given me any issues though, and for the past 7 months I've been running an Asus Strix RTX 3090 with zero issues with power. Not sure why EVGA does that, but like I said seems to not be an issue, but I much prefer 3 dedicated pcie 8 pins with no additional cables added.
Well, if EVGA was still making graphics cards, I would go for them, but because they are not, and I'm not sure if they would still warranty prior cards, I would just get the MSI card. But in my opinion, the EVGA card is definitely the better of the two.

I am also running the card at higher power consumption with the oc switch on the card on, and on performance power setting in the software. If I take a small fast moving fan, and blow it at the card, I anticipate that I can get it a good 5-10 degrees cooler, as I have with my old 1060 when I over clocked it to be able to run on 4k. I'm now regretting that I didn't buy the water cooler version of this card, but there may be after market coolers? But if I over clock, I will be blowing my external fan on it.

Las temperaturas de esas tarjetas son elevadas verdad. Algún dia podrías hacer un tutorial de como hacer undervoltin a este modelo de gráfica específicamente.
Well, that's definitely the first time I've ever seen anyone say that before. Just because MSI Afterburner has MSI in its name, it doesn't mean you have to use it with MSI cards, and same for EVGA Precision X, it's a matter of personal preference really, they have all the same functions, but I do think MSI Afterburner is a lot easier to setup for on screen display stats, and I'm more accustomed to using it. I still do use precision X during the first install of an evga card to update the bios for them though. But in all honesty it is just simply a matter of personal preference to use program rather than the other.
@@LousWRX that makes sense. I typically match manufacturer to manufacturer for parity, but you're right about function and comfort. I simply assumed that calibration between the two would be off, as they'd gear their software to their respective cards. I was curious, so I asked. You definitely provided a robust answer. Thanks for responding
@@LousWRX oh ok, i purchased the ftw3 ultra yesterday and it will arrive on monday, do u think its a good card? im upgrading from a geforce 980, i have a i9 10850k aswell
I personally wasn't too impressed by the cooler for the EVGA RTX 3080 Ti. It is not enough cooler for this card, and same goes for 3090 which uses the same cooler. I ended up exchanging for an Asus ROG Strix Model 3080 Ti and had significantly lower load temperatures compared to the EVGA model. Evga is still an excellent brand, with one of the best warranties available, I just think they cut some corners in the size of the cooler so fan noise and cooling isn't exactly what I was expecting. I'm not very familiar with the card you are mentioning though, but Asus( Strix or TUF) MSI (Suprim X model) and Evga (last option due to cooler, unless you go with the Hybrid cooler) are some of the more reputable brands I'm most familiar with.
Ah i see. because the price of gpu is very expensive here, So I don't have much choice. 1. Asus RTX 3080 Ti Strix OC for $2379 2. Evga RTX 3080 Ti Ftw3 Ultra for $2034 3. Colorful igame RTX 3080 Ti Vulcan for $1924 Overprice gpu 😞
@@msuryt.h9364 Yeah, that is certainly a lot of money for those cards. Assuming the reviews for the Colorful model are good, it is worth a try I guess. Just make sure the seller your purchase from allows returns, just in case you don't like the card. Otherwise the only thing you can do is wait until the prices come down more, but even that seems like an endless wait with any of these high end GPU's.
@@LousWRX looks like the price has started to rise again since it fell in the middle of the year. folks on the forums are discussing how to get a higher hashrate on the RTX 3080 Ti. and now, they managed to get a higher hashrate. so it looks like there will be another increase in gpu prices next year.
Yeah, the temperatures were a lot higher than I was expecting. I'm running a Main Gear Vybe case with plenty of balanced intake and exhaust fans, but for some reason this card was really hot. I ended up returning it and exchanged it for an Asus ROG Strix RTX 3080 Ti and my load temperatures on that card were between 66C- 73C OCed to same amount. So I'm guessing I just got a bad card or something, but the cooler on the Strix model is a lot larger and thicker, a much better cooler in every way.
Hi, would undervolting the EVGA 3080ti help with maintaining performance but get lower temps? Seen few videos of it going around..maintaining the 1920mhz clock speed maintaining temps of 70-75c. I just got this card for about 2000USD here in Malaysia, and have been researching about it. I wasn't able to buy the ROG STRIX 3080ti as shops only allow bundle builds and not sell the cards individually. Bummer 😅 So i've managed to get my hands on the EVGA 3080ti FTW3 instead. 🤷♂️
Yeah, you should be able to undervolt this card and still maintain good performance, while lowering load temperatures. I never did experiment with undervolting it though. But low to mid 70C should certainly be attainable with an undervolt. I ended switching to the Asus Strix 3080 Ti, and then later found the Asus Strix 3090 for only $200 more then the 3080 Ti, so I totally jumped on that right away.
Do you think if I plugged mine with 2 6+2 cables with a splitter (not sure if that's how call it, just the ones that came with my PSU) on both leaving one unplugged can be a good reason for high temps? I still reach 83-85c on 100% loads with an undervolt and just lower in other games like CoD.
I don't think that would be the reasoning for the high temperatures. It just a hot running card in general, it needs a lot of cool air from the case to breath properly, as well as the as you mentioned undervolting.
Nice to hear. Yeah after all these years they are finally getting a lot more attainable then they were in the past. My local Microcenter has been getting tons of high-end GPU'S from Asus Strix 3090's and all the other major ones like 3080Ti, 3070, 3070 Ti, 3060 Ti, every week. I have no reason to purchase them anymore as my main rig has the 3090 Strix but I'm happy people are finally able to buy them without all the past struggles. I'm going to wait out until September and the RTX 40 series, but who knows it may all just repeat again, but I'm hoping it wont.
@@LousWRX i figure since i got it below even EVGA's websites price, if the 40 series comes out widely available i'll just sell the card I just purchased for 500$ less. Get my worth of use for it, and jump on the new
Nice. Yeah, I hear Time Spy benefits a lot from higher memory overclocks. I'll have to try it again with a higher memory OC. But very nice score indeed.
Nice, did your OC your card further I presume? This was just a baseline run to test an OC any card should do. But nearly 20k is impressive, I'm now on the 3090 Strix and that's about what I get with it.
I recently got this card as well and I haven't messed with anything so it's completely factory settings and it is hitting 85c - 86c while gaming on a 1440p ultra wide. Is that normal?
Yeah, I was having the same issue. When I played Flight Simulator 2020 in this video review you can see the load temperatures reach 84C (overclocked) and I was also surprised it was getting that hot. When not OCed at at factory default clocks it was getting still to the lower 80's which I still think is a little more hot than normal. I also noticed the fans were getting very loud under load. I think they should of put a larger and beefier cooler on this card, the one on there is not enough IMO. I switched over to an Asus ROG Strix 3080 Ti, and my load temperatures OCed were no higher then 75C, which I think is much more reasonable.
@@ShadowEmpyrean Okay, then yeah you'll be able to return it for sure then. Just keep in mind it will probably difficult to find another model to replace it with. I got lucky and returned mine to Microcenter when they had the Asus ROG Strix 3080 Ti, so I just did an exchange. But normally in most cases the Strix model is nearly impossible to find, also the price for it is a lot ($2k) definitely not worth that kind of money IMO.
Perhaps, but previously I had the Asus 3090 (with same case) and that card only got to like 65C under full OC load. My current case is now Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super tower case, if anything it literally one of the largest and expensive cases to can buy today. Link; th-cam.com/video/QW4O8VUwWPQ/w-d-xo.html
All the 3070's 3080's 3090's use micron memory. They are the only manufacturer that makes gddr6x memory modules. It is no longer faulty though like the days of the 2070 2080's and 2080 Ti's of the past. So it no longer an issue, and Samsung does not make gddr6x memory modules for graphics cards.

Las temperaturas de esas tarjetas son elevadas verdad. Algún dia podrías hacer un tutorial de como hacer undervoltin a este modelo de gráfica específicamente.
Why are you using MSI Afterburner with an EVGA card?
@@LousWRX one more thing, I just recently received this card in the mail. Will I be happy with this card as an upgrade over my overclocked 2080 super?
@@ChristovBelmont Most definitely! That is a great upgrade over the 2080 Super.
what is the difference between ftw3 ultra gaming and ftw3 ultra?
The FTW3 Ultra has a higher core overclock speed compared to the Gaming model.
@@LousWRX oh ok, i purchased the ftw3 ultra yesterday and it will arrive on monday, do u think its a good card? im upgrading from a geforce 980, i have a i9 10850k aswell
@@LillenAPL Oh definitely yeah, it is a very solid card. It will certainly be a huge upgrade from your previous card.
So, i wanted to buy evga rtx 3080 ti ftw3 ultra.. but i heard so many issue with that. Should i better buy colorful igame rtx 3080 ti vulcan oc-v?
1. Asus RTX 3080 Ti Strix OC for $2379
2. Evga RTX 3080 Ti Ftw3 Ultra for $2034
3. Colorful igame RTX 3080 Ti Vulcan for $1924
Overprice gpu 😞
@@LousWRX because of this, the price of gpu here in one day increased by about $41 to $137.99
What is your case ? So hot temps.
Bummer 😅
So i've managed to get my hands on the EVGA 3080ti FTW3 instead.
@@erisium6988 Yes the Strix model cards has a load temperatures of between 70C-73C.
It just a hot running card in general, it needs a lot of cool air from the case to breath properly, as well as the as you mentioned undervolting.
scored one today for 1400$ :D on amazon
Get my worth of use for it, and jump on the new
@@Symbiotespider5 Sounds fair enough to me. 👌
What price you payed?
$1399 ar Microcenter, about $1,540 after tax.
@@LousWRX Damn man, that’s a nice deal. My local PC store wants $1599 for this 3080 TI.
@@Will-ki7us Yeah its basically the lowest prices custom card you can get, besides the Nvidia founders edition.
I got 21500 on mine +145 core +1200 mem
Nice. Yeah, I hear Time Spy benefits a lot from higher memory overclocks. I'll have to try it again with a higher memory OC. But very nice score indeed.
@@LousWRX hit me up on discord Mystery#3629
Damn I scared 19972 on time spy with evga 3080 ti and a ryzen 9 3900x
@@LousWRX So I should contact EVGA about a refund?
@@ShadowEmpyrean Well it depends, did you buy it within 30 days? If it has been more than 30 days then I'm not sure if you can still get a refund.
@@LousWRX I bought is about a week ago
@@ShadowEmpyrean Okay, then yeah you'll be able to return it for sure then. Just keep in mind it will probably difficult to find another model to replace it with. I got lucky and returned mine to Microcenter when they had the Asus ROG Strix 3080 Ti, so I just did an exchange. But normally in most cases the Strix model is nearly impossible to find, also the price for it is a lot ($2k) definitely not worth that kind of money IMO.
Your case is causing the high temperatures. Way too small for a GPU like that.
Perhaps, but previously I had the Asus 3090 (with same case) and that card only got to like 65C under full OC load. My current case is now Corsair Obsidian 1000D Super tower case, if anything it literally one of the largest and expensive cases to can buy today. Link; th-cam.com/video/QW4O8VUwWPQ/w-d-xo.html
oh no, you got Micron memory...YUCK!
@@LousWRX did not know that...that is good to know....had to exchange my Asus Strix 2080 ti due to faulty micron...they sent me one with samsung
@@LousWRX yo, did you have issues with the fans ramping to 100% with no way to control them? I have a hybrid 3080 ti FTW 3 and the fans ramp up and can't be controlled...I think it is software related....
@@Hakeem597 No, I never that come up for the time I owned it. It did run pretty hot though, with the fans getting pretty loud, but never 100%, more like 85-90%. I later exchanged it for an Asus Strix 3090.
Have you tried installing evga precision x? Any time you install it, it will download the latest bios for the card, which may help the issue assuming you haven't tried already.
