      Exactly my thoughts. But it could also be a grounding or shielding-issure. When you next get to the state try to shield the cartrige before soft-resetting it. If this solves the problem, you will need to take a look at shielding.

    About the IS splash screen thing, I've read somewhere that it happens if you tilt the wideboy cartridge in a certain way and it's actually always displayed, just rendered under the visuals from the GB(A) hardware on board the wideboy. Supposedly what happens is that if you tilt the cartridge some bit that says "do not render gb" gets flipped and because it depends on cartridge tilt, it can happen randomly if it gets knocked too much.

  • @alinayossimouse
    @alinayossimouse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My theory is that the intelligent systems splash screen is actually the backdrop behind the rectangle the game screen gets drawn to and it is visible when ever the GBA hardware is unable to provide a screen buffer, which would explain the phenomena you described in my opinion

    I love seeing Sigma Star Saga getting some appreciation.
    It's weird that we never got a GBA Shantae game, there was going to be Shantae 2 Risky Revolution but due to lack of publisher interest it never came out and was far from finished, but otherwise, Sigma Star Saga is a reasonable replacement for a GBA Shantae game.

    Well, the purpose wasn’t purely visual, right? If the press wanted specific screen shots - not just whatever was around the beginning of the game or close to a save file, they’d have to actively play and review the game on that unit. So, the sound would have to be bearable.

  • @LocalAitch

    My guess is the IS logo is on the base graphic that is loaded into VRAM, but then the Wideboy overlays the image from the GBA CPU, so the IS logo only appears when that overlay disappears for whatever reason. Also would explain why you see a frame or two of it on GBA reset. Perhaps connected to the display enable bit?

    This WideBoy64 Accessory for the Nintendo 64 that could play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. You would use the handheld itself as a controller. It was for developers to make games for the Game Boy and Game Boy Color. Much rarer then the AGB version that could also play Game Boy Advance games, and it released after the CGB version. It was supposed to be an adapter similar to the Super Game Boy in the Super Nintendo allowing us to play Game Boy Advance games and also Game Boy and Gameboy Color Games on a TV screen. Or you can connect to a GBA Via Wide-boy Cable. it also allows you to take screenshots and compatible with the Gameboy camera. Made by Intelligent Systems. I like the WideBoy64.

  • @Pixelmusement

    Just a thought but having the splash screen come up might be a heat issue. I know with my N64 it often creaks as it heats up from extended use and on very rare occasions I'll get a minor glitch or crash on a game after playing for over an hour or two straight. Dunno if that's what's happening but just a thought I had.

    • @chikato7106
      @chikato7106 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@crashoveride879 the wideboy has the same hardware check. I'd copy a wideboy by going to pcbway and making my own pcb that takes a gameboy cart and either reverse engineer the wideboy or understand how it's emulating it. Someone can probably write a GB emulator as an N64 rom. Animal Forest plays NES games. The wideboy doesn't add any additional memory or fancy on-board chips like the save flash components on different carts. So you can get an EverDrive and run a GB emulator. Not sure if that's already out there or not.

    Does the IS-AGB-CAPTURE's multi-av out support RGB?
    Or is it built using/based on N64 or NTSC-Cube hardware so it only supports up to S-video?
    Also, is that IDE-like cable thar connects to the GBA connected to a cartridge which you can put into any GBA? Or is the GBA modified in some way?

    • @tuberbuba1942

    @allenwaters2975 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm just wondering have you ever been able to sit down and play through an entire GameBoy game on that device? The reason I ask this is because maybe they're not really set up for like a long play sessions the same way the Gameboy player on the GameCube would be and Maybe can be a tad buggy because their intended purposes were just to capture screens and you maybe occasionally encounter errors from time to time because it really didn't take the time to work out all the bugs because of the fact that it was never meant to be a way to actually play the video games more than just getting a few screenshots or capturing footage. That would be kind of my guess is why you would get the splash screen occasionally and why it might of froze your son's game while he was playing. That it's not be set up for long-term play sessions just a guess since I never even knew these things existed until you video and from what you said. so I'm just guessing you may encounter various memory errors from time to time but then again I don't really know that was just a thought I had when watching the video

If not, then I think someone should try one day so that more people can play those games on their consoles. And before anyone says anything, I know the Game Boy Player for the GameCube exists which does do what those do. But it would still be pretty cool if someone did reverse engineer them & make cheaper, more consumer-friendly versions so that everyone can play Game Boy games on their N64.

      The post office would have some service that gives you compensation if the item is lost/damaged. In the UK, Royal Mail have "Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed": www.royalmail.com/sending/uk/special-delivery-guaranteed-9am
      To be fair, to prevent it from being damaged, you just have to pack the item well and ensure it is protected from being damaged (like using bubble wrap).
      If it gets lost, you are kinda stuffed. Although it would rarely happen.

      @@RadioTails In the U.S., there is no such insurance, unless someone buys insurance for a package. It is done this way, because you have to remember, ALL of England is the size of one state. There is so much terrain to cross, that a national insurance for mail, is not economically feasible. Plus, having people pay each time they need insurance, is more profitable.

    The second one came out the same year as Windows XP... at the very least, they knew it was coming out, so why didn’t they make a version that was compatible or at least a way to update it later?

    I wish I could play the Wide Boy 64 CGB so I can play Game Boy and Game Boy Color Games on an Emulator, but all I get was a Black Screen. I'm using an Nintendo 64 Emulator called Project64.
