With Sokka freaking out about an imaginary spider for Suki, while there is a little sexism i believe he is just feeling over protective for his potential love interest after losing Yuei to the moon. Also HEAVY symbolism with that newr kiss having the moon in-between them, literally having his memories of a past relationship getting in the way of a new one.
I want to believe Aang is aware of the 7+ age rating and thats the only reason we didnt see avatar state flavoured John Wick the instant he sees the sandbenders.

This meaning that they have to fight the earth kingdom for their land and each other. The earth kingdom is falling apart as kings, like Bumi, are slowly breaking apart to make their own independent nations. And the air nomads are constantly on the run and help refugees when they can. Avatar Childhood. Abandoned as a child for being a non-bender of a noble family (which every nation) and left in the wilderness to die/survive. Animal companion, like Appa/Momo, would help keep the child alive. Past Avatars start coming to them in dreams and some time manifest to help the child live till they are found by air nomads fleeing one of the other nations. As they travel with the air nomad the child see the war and later is brought to an air temple to live. 3. Avatar Teen Years. First few years are adjusting to living with people again. Later they are playing with others when they learn that they can airbend. They start the lesson then with other airbenders and life seems fine till they start having nightmares of the war they saw as a child. Past avatars start appearing in dreams again telling them that they have to balance the world. Having heard all the tales the Avatar start to think about how they could bring peace to their world. The idea of everyone being united is the core of the Avatar's thinking, but gets twisted as they start to take over every nation to be the one ruler of everyone. 5. The End. The Avatar will die either of old age (showing the power of the Avatar and no one being a match) or killed by a loved one (spouse or child). Sorry for the long essay that I wrote down, but the idea of a dark Avatar was too cool not to. Feel free to comments any hole in my idea or add on in the comments!
I feel like the Avatar being mistaken for a nonbender does not make any sense at all. Like, the air nomads have a whole ass ritual that is guaranteed to find the Avatar, and it's pretty implied that every other nation has something similar too. Also, past Avatars just appearing in their dreams kind of destroys the previous canon that you have to be in a spiritual place to talk to your past lives. I'm not that big of a fan of the Avatar learning from their past lives, and it would probably be better if they find other people to learn from. It could be a good thing if the child knows a little bit of bending to help them in the wild. For the past Avatars I was thinking along the line of the Avatar cycle trying to keep the child alive, but I can see how the lack of spiritual energy/place would be a problem. My idea would be to have the forest the child is abandon in be inhabited by spirits (seen as cursed to the other human); I am thinking along the lines of the first Avatar being friends with the spirits and them helping him out (haven't watched Korra in forever so feel free to fact check me) and maybe have the spirits help the child live instead of the past Avatars. Please tell me you've seen the fancomic based on Sokka's cactus juice trip combined with a crazy funny convo some folks had on tumblr XD "I'M NOT FUCKING SCARED OF YOU" "SOKKA HOW THE FUCK DID YOU GET A GUN??"
Yangchen tortured the woman who murdered her bison and laughed in the woman’s face when she begged for mercy this was aang holding back bc he knows appa’s still alive
It’s crazy how katara is like 14 and knows how to help women in labor, and considering how young she was when all the men left, she helped deliver babies very young
i love that this episode has one of the most accurate depictions of a drug trip. so many shows and movies overdo it, but what sokka going through here feels so real
To answer your question about Toph and the staff, they wereunder water, but they were on the ocean floor, a.k.a. earth, so she could sense him holding out the staff.
It's kinda crazy cause Toph has been with the Gaang for all of like two days and all the shit she's been through is crazy. Especially since on rewatch I noticed that Aang never really apologizes for being a dick. I mean he was totally entitled to his reaction but a, 'Sorry for blowing up on you it wasnt you fault.' Would've been nice.
I love the fact sokka's plot in this episode was just getting stoned. Like who in the writing team decided to put an actual, full on high trip into the episode?? I cannot believe some of the shit atla got away with showing sometimes
Legend of Korra kind of threw out " the avatar brings balance instead of good" concept when it said that the Avatar is possessed by the goodest spirit in existence.
You wanna hear dark Avatar yangcheng, the Airbender avatar before anng, when she found out her air bison was killed, she captured the ones who did it and tortured them for days upon days, cause airbenders are soul bonded with they're bison
I think the concept of an avatar series focused around one of the early avatars not having a personality in line with the others and because of Rava taking more control over the avatar they slowly learn to be what the avatar is over time.
I love how the whole notion of balance not necessarily being justice or morality or personal peace gets brought up in the finale and Aang's debate over killing Ozai or letting him live.
I think a better protag for a show would be the Avatar that directly follows the Tyrant Avatar. Like still go with the whole thing where one Avatar basically just decided f- it and went full tyrant in the name of peace and balance. And the main show is the next one in line dealing with the consequences of that: generations of people who know the Avatar as nothing but a symbol of fear, people hunting them down, and trying to be a better person and find a new path while constantly fighting the temptation to just continue the legacy of tyranny.
Well, the universe doesn't care about "good" if we ignore the fact that the tail end of LoK season 2 just fully tossed out the "balance" thing and made the "Chaos and Order" Kite Spirits exclusively a Evil vs Good thing and locked away the spirit of Chaos and portrayed it as of no use and purely detrimental to the universe, the world, and society... Yeah, I'm still mad... I'mma stay mad.
Aang crying in the avatar state is truly one of the most moving moments I've seen in television. I have left so many comments on so many reactor channels about this moment because it is truly epic. Goosebumps every single fucking time.
people see the avatar as superman unlimited power and a moral alignment to good but what they dont realize is the avatar wakes up every day and chooses peace but all it takes is one bad thing and boom BATMAN with superman powers
Fun fact about sokka all the characters he plays that has to do with the avatar universe (sokka and calem) both fall in love with the moon both suki and yue mean moon while calem has reyla a moon shadow elf as his love interest lol
I don't think Sokka was being sexist with the spider bit, You gotta remember his first girlfriend died and turned into the moon I don't think he wants that to happen again
I kind of love the recurring joke that the team forgets now and then that Toph is blind. It shows how capable she usually is, and shows that they don't see her for her disability. (Hehe get it?)
Kyoshi and Yanchen both go far beyond the boundaries of what is “OK.” They both killed a lot of people. Kyoshi froze the lungs of the guy who killed her girlfriend and joined a gang of bandits. Yang Chen favored humans over spirits so badly that she sparked an era of dark spirits that tortured avatar Kuruk and caused him to die in agony in his 20’s. She also exploded a few people’s heads with her airbending scream.

Danny's transition into the pateron plug: I offer sadness, you offer money. Deal?
Legend of Korra kind of threw out " the avatar brings balance instead of good" concept when it said that the Avatar is possessed by the goodest spirit in existence.
i kept cracking up when Danny kept saying "Iroh hit Zuko" like i couldn't stop laughing
You wanna hear dark
Avatar yangcheng, the Airbender avatar before anng, when she found out her air bison was killed, she captured the ones who did it and tortured them for days upon days, cause airbenders are soul bonded with they're bison
Danny: How is sokka alive?!?!
Me an intellectual: sokka is a luck bender.

This whole scene had me dying laughing like a damn loon 😂 Danny made this so funny for no reason!
"Yue put her nicest Waning Gibbous on for you!" I hope we get more Yue jokes in the future
FANCY DANNY AND THE RETURN OF AVATAR REACTIONS ?? this is a good day
Aang crying in the avatar state is truly one of the most moving moments I've seen in television.
I've said it before, but this it Toph's first time "seeing" the Avatar. the voices of 10,000 years of benders and their rage
Fun fact about sokka all the characters he plays that has to do with the avatar universe (sokka and calem) both fall in love with the moon both suki and yue mean moon while calem has reyla a moon shadow elf as his love interest lol
7:26 imagine an avatar who becomes a villain, ends up bringing peace to a warring world by forcing the world to unite against them.
I don't think Sokka was being sexist with the spider bit, You gotta remember his first girlfriend died and turned into the moon I don't think he wants that to happen again
25:18 this sentence you said reminds me, can Toph sense internal organs, if so she might be able to sorta see childbirth
He’s fancy
13:30 iroh kindly telling his nephew to wait outside
13:32 Danny: I Choose Roasted bending
100% Avatar Yang Chen was ready to kill for all sky bison
The fact I found you because of your ATLA content and you then hooked me on hellva boss to back to ATLA just makes me love you even more
Oh Shit We're back!!!!!
“SEE LOOK, they converged between his cheeks” genuinely made me laugh
FINALLLY AFTER 84 YEARS ITS BACK
15:02 “who’s fucking voice was that?? kiyoshi?!?!?” nah homie that was yangchen you don’t fuck with an airbenders bison
I always saw this episode in the desert when the lost appa as the half way mark of the show because the tone of it changed
17:42 I always thought they converge at his tail bone 😂
love how he has a hole ass presentation on the mushroom, I just always thought the mushroom was the bc you can get high om them
25:55 right there with you. When i saw my son, i compared him to a xenomorph...😂 needless to say my wife was not pleased.😅
If looks could kill it wouldn’t be the fire nation that killed team avatar 💀 14:20
I kind of love the recurring joke that the team forgets now and then that Toph is blind. It shows how capable she usually is, and shows that they don't see her for her disability. (Hehe get it?)
Lol, Danny calling Zuko "Coffee Stain"
Kyoshi and Yanchen both go far beyond the boundaries of what is “OK.” They both killed a lot of people.
Kyoshi froze the lungs of the guy who killed her girlfriend and joined a gang of bandits.
Yang Chen favored humans over spirits so badly that she sparked an era of dark spirits that tortured avatar Kuruk and caused him to die in agony in his 20’s. She also exploded a few people’s heads with her airbending scream.
