So basically training as hard as you can is the way to get these things. What is training hard? Maintaining proper technique despite the pain of doing so and continuing to run hard even as you feel your exhaustion setting in. Just by giving your training your all and being consistent with that attitude you will notice dramatic improvement in these things.

    • @TheSprintProject_
      @TheSprintProject_  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

True, maintaining proper technique while training hard is important. Same as you would want to keep proper form while doing a heavy squat. It might be tough to do but will lead to better performance in the long run.

    • @weihuang7908

Yo whats up guys, I recently started sprinting because it is alot of fun and even though I never did it as a sport I am really fast. In December 2021 I did my first session and reached top speed of 20,07 mph measured with gps. Today I did 22 mph by doing spring workouts once a week since I started. I come from a lifting and Calisthenics background and I am seriously impressed by my speed, are those good numbers and is there room to improve? I am 21 years old 6 ft and 183 lbs. Or maybe is the gps wrong?

    • @LouisBerrett
      @LouisBerrett 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Unfortunately the GPS is unlikely to be accurate at all for top speed measuring or sprint speed. To get an actual measurement, get a friend to measure your time over 60/100m a few times with full recovery and then find an average between them (to decrease any irregular results). Or, do a FAT Electronically timed race to get an official accurate time. Sounds like you can already run pretty fast regardless though, and your build is pretty good for sprinting. The most important part is that you're enthusiastic about it, why not give it a go :) good luck.

    • @Philipp_-cp2xw

I'm 6ft4 and weigh 200 pounds and have only managed to run a 13.22 100 and 8.64 60. My training was basically just sprinting a lot. I got into lifting weights at the end of last summer and did that extensively for a few months. Lucky me I'm basically almost a non responder when it comes to building muscle so I only gained a couple pounds. I took my squat from 135 pounds for 5 reps to 285 pounds for 1 rep. I've read that it's recommended to be able to squat 2 to 2 1/2 times bodyweight for a sprinter. So I should be able to squat 400 to 500 pounds. LOL, that's not going to happen. This got me thinking about what muscles are actually important for sprint speed. I thought about which muscles actually get sore from sprinting and from doing block starts, which I've been doing a lot lately. I've never had sore quads from sprinting or block starts. This made me realize that being able to squat a whole bunch of weight is pointless. What's most important is to develop the muscles of your posterior chain and you don't have to be really strong to be really powerful. Plyometrics, practicing block starts and max effort sprinting all to develop power is more important than getting really strong. You don't need more than an intermediate level of strength to be fast. After that the rest is power which goes well beyond what you can lift.

I took the 23&Me DNA test a couple years ago. When I found that I am 96% Irish, English, and Scandinavian … I gave up attempting to sprint faster. Is there truly a “genetic factor” that I will never or ever be able to overcome?

What were your athletic aspirations? If you're healthy and under 30 you can break 11 without superhuman genetics.

    We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
    A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
    Gotta make you understand
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
    (Give you up)
(Ooh) Never gonna give, never gonna give
    (Give you up)
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
    Gotta make you understand
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
    Never gonna give you up
    Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
    Never gonna make you cry
    Never gonna say goodbye

It’s always fun to imagine the body builders traps as shoulders then they look like a skinny guy piloting muscle Mech
