At age 13, Cline was hospitalized with a throat infection and rheumatic fever. Speaking of the incident in 1957 she said, "I developed a terrible throat infection and my heart even stopped beating. The doctor put me in an oxygen tent. You might say it was my return to the living after several days that launched me as a singer. The fever affected my throat and when I recovered I had this booming voice like Kate Smith's...
My two all-time favorite female vocalists are Patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter. The Doris Day song I like the most is Put 'Em in a Box, Tie 'Em with a Ribbon and Throw 'Em in the Deep Blue Sea. What a mouthful that is!! As far as Loretta Lynn, she and Patsy were good friends. Their relationship is explored in Loretta's biopic, Coal Miner's Daughter.
Now you MUST listen to the song BLUE sung by Leann Rimes. BLUE was written for Patsy Cline, but she died in a plane crash before she could record it. The song was shelved because NO ONE had the voice for that song like Patsy did. MANY years later the songwriter hear Leann Rimes singing the National Anthem and sent the song to her to sing. It was Leann's first #1 Song at the age of 14, I believe!
I am so glad to hear younger people enjoy the music that I grew up on. It feels good to be appreciated. She was amazing and I’m sure in heaven. She is still amazing. She probably amazes even the angels.
@Broncobill58 Don’t compare Joplin to Patsy although talented in her own right Ms Cline showed the class that went hand and hand with her music.Glad you guys did this one.
Thanks for playing Patsy Cline. I love her music. She was one in 1 million and there’s no one that can replace her. I think what happened was that when rock ‘n’ roll became the main music and then you went to hard rock and then you went to hip-hop music and then rap music the younger generation at the time just did not want songs like Patsy Cline. But it’s nice that we still go back and listen to those songs I’m 69 years old and I remember listening to them when I was young and I just that same feeling listening to her. You feel like she’s tugging at your heart, thank you for playing her music and I will be coming back to your channel.
Your voice arises from your spirit, your heart and soul. The old days were so great, we were literally a different people spiritually speaking. Love your reviews and joy. God bless you!!
Part of the issue with today's "artists" is that they don't want to put the hard work in that so many of the older artists from times past put in. They made singing an art and practiced and worked to make themselves the very best they could vs. being able to rely on electronic manipulations and also they sang live in front of audiences regularly and paid their dues early in their careers singing in small bars and venues sometimes for decades before they got a big break.
Patsy Cline's "SWEET DREAMS" is "HEAVENLY" if there ever was a song called "HEAVENLY". Cline was more than a Country and Western Singer. She definitely was one of the first Cross-Over Artists of her time. Loretta Lynn's idol was Patsy Cline. After a car crash, Cline heard someone singing "I Fall to Pieces" beneath her window in the Hospital. It was Loretta Lynn!
With your divine appreciation of voices like Dorris Day and Patsy Cline, I'm surprised you haven't done an Anne Murray song yet. She came along a little later than Dorris and Patsy (1970ish I think) but just an absolutely rich, pure and stunning voice! Snowbird is the song that first broke her into the US market (followed by many more) and it's definitely a good place to start if you decide to give her music a go. Lovely reaction as always, you two!

I think people had more patience and respect back then and this translates to everything including the music. She respects her audience and generously gives her soul in a non rushed delivery.
Patsy is a measuring stick for all female country singers to measure themselves. Just as every country band playing in any bar will know some Hank Williams and George Jones songs, most any female singer or band will know some Patsy. There is a very talented singer in Nashville who got her big break a number of years ago at Dollywood singing and portraying Patsy in a show there. She has done a lot of great music, but still does a lot of Patsy songs too and does them really well. Her name is Mandy Barnett. Worth a listen folks.

If you want a contemporary voice like Patty Cline's, listen to K.D. Lang sing "Down to My Last Cigarette". She even had the same producer as Patsy Cline, just 30 years later.
Patsy recorded "I Fall To Pieces" in November 1960. It was climbing the charts in 1961 when she had the near fatal car accident in June of that year, reaching number 1 on the Billboard country charts in August 1961. I was a small child, 4 years old in September 1961, but I remember hearing this song on the radio and loved it then, still love it now!
Love that you guys do all sorts of different types of music from different generation, people who listen to only one or two genres /times are really missing out.
Patsy’s last concert was in my hometown Kansas City Kansas. It was a benefit concert for a local DJ for a country station KCKN, “Catus”Jack Call who had been tragically killed in a car wreck. I have a copy of the ad from the Kansas City Star Newspaper from 1963 for a Benefit Show. Wish I could show it here. The cost of tickets for Adults $1.50 and 50 cents for children. The ad says there were 3 big shows, on Sunday March 3,1963. It was held in Memorial Hall in Kansas City Kansas. Tragically two days later on their way back to Nashville Patsy Cline along with country performers Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins, and manager Randy Hughes plane crashed in heavy weather on the evening of Tuesday, March 5, 1963. The wreckage was found in a forest outside of Camden, Tennessee. Others who performed at that concert included George Jones, Ralph Emery, Roy Acuff and Dottie West. Dottie had asked Patsy to join her party for a drive back to Tennessee but tragically she declined and was killed in the aforementioned crash. There were some other performers who I didn’t list. Also, back in the day KCKN radio station had an impact on country music. It was quite the market for country music.
@@kimmurrell7204 That sounds right I know I have heard that term. I was 10 at the time and would turn 11 a few months later. My dad loved the station. However, me and my sister loved WHB and Rock and Roll back then. So, I grew up hearing a mix of country and rock and roll. There are two graveyards at 39th and State Avenue. the station was located just west of the one on the south side, later there would be a Venture store nearby and Indian Springs a little further west. The tower was there and the station itself was in what to me appeared to be an old farmhouse. But they were a powerhouse country station for a number of years on the AM side at 610 now a sports talk radio outlet. And WHB is also a sports talk radio station.

In my opinion Janis Joplin and Patsy Cline had unique voices that can never be replaced or copied.
And Ella Fitzgerald
@Broncobill58 Don’t compare Joplin to Patsy although talented in her own right Ms Cline showed the class that went hand and hand with her music.Glad you guys did this one.
@@user-dq7cr3cz8zthere's only a couple of Janis Joplin songs I like but she ruined them at the end cuz she starts screaming
If you ever watched her sing you’d be amazed at how effortlessly she hit every note. And her voice was the purest voice I have heard.
Hi... I am 45 and grew up listening to Patsy thanks to my mom :) I listen to this song all the time as well as the song Walkin after Midnight :)
One of the best female voices ever. Gone too soon. ❤
Patsy paid dues!
Pure talent! She doesn't need gimmicks.
Patsy Cline was peerless... and still is.
Sweet Dreams Movie great vocals about Patsy Cline.
Patsy was peerless. Once in a lifetime voice.
Anne was influenced by those singers. They've only reacted to You Needed Me, Snowbird should be up next. So many people were fans, including Elvis.
I was literally raised on her songs. Patsy will never be forgotten.
my mom n dad would play her records an dance in our Livingroom all afternoon with the doors n windows wide open. my dad would look at my mom and my mom would have her smile that said YES
You guys are spot in assessing Ms. Cline's voice. Truly classic and one of a kind, definitely not of this generation.
Never try to analyze perfection, just listen to it.
Now this is a lady that could sing! Man I was like 7 when she died. It was a real drag. Broke mom's heart.❤❤👍👍🤘🤘💯
I was 7 too. 1963 a huge year in music and that last feeling of innocence in the songs of that era. Patsy passed in 63. My mom too I remember being upset at Patsy’s passing.
@brianherrington7226 Man how the years just gone by brother.
@@jeffreyflint6286 I thought they went quick from about 25 to 40 then my Dad said wait till after 40 then you think about the years going by then 50 up to 60 it’s the months and now it’s the days. Us mid to late boomers have seen some incredible times. God bless our parents too Americas greatest generation. Funny how music can put you and your memories right back to the year your listening. That’s why I love these two because they both seem to be old souls.

Also broke my heart when Karen Carpenter died!
Patsy Cline and Karen Carpenter were the most beautiful, female voices ever!
You are so right, Karen Carpenter's voice was magic! Another wonderful artist who died too soon.
You have excellent taste
patsy clime voice in haunting and she has a crying her voice no one can beat her.no one
Love patsy cline she was a great country singer died too soon
Doris Day was, and still is, my favorite female singer. Loved her music as well as her tv show and movies.
Patsy Cline is a Queen! Love everything she did. Gone too soon.
Patsy Cline is so iconic. Her voice is so beautiful! ❤❤
Proof that Angel's do exist...
Makes the hair on the neck stand up . Soooo wonderful to hear this voice again.
isn't that just bloody lovely. so many great hits from her. what a voice, cuts right through and makes you hear. great reaction
Hey y'all!! New subscriber who has just fallen in love with the two of you and your reactions as well as your sweet spirits! Ive noticed theres a handful of Patsys hits youve listened to and i have a suggestion for a masterpiece that is off the beaten path but one of her best recordings. From some of her last sessions before her tragic death...Patsy Cline..Bill Bailey Wont you please come home...you wont be sorry!
You HAVE to do “Faded Love”. Especially the last 10 seconds. Destroys me every time.
"Faded Love" kills me, too! I don't know how Patsy can sing perfectly while crying at the same time.
Me too 😢
So many country songs come from actual life experiences. That's what reaches our hearts.
If you want a contemporary voice like Patty Cline's, listen to K.D. Lang sing "Down to My Last Cigarette". She even had the same producer as Patsy Cline, just 30 years later.
I grew up with her music! An amazing artist!
A practical line on your playlist.Your playlist needs some help outside question mark😅😅😊😊😊😊😅😅😊😅😅
AMA and Patsy Kwan both of us.We used to go out walking after midnight.Yeah you are a pain yup while a pay yep
I think I remember that. Was their tagline “Kickin Country”?
Yes, I’m 42, I grew up with Patsey Cline. My absolute favorite artist of that time . My mom loved her so it is so close to my heart. Every one of her songs is soooo good. Love her soooo much. Her voice no other.🤷♀️🤗 I’ve known every word of of her songs since I was like 12, so happy your covering her.
Patsy Clines. "Sweet Dreams" is a beautiful song .
Old School sounds so good because its raw talent. No computers no synth no transistors. Just raw skill and talent.!!🥰
