- Welcome to our home! Come step inside our 1901 home and take a tour. We show you around our beautiful old house and you get to see all the good and all the bad, from our fridge to our dingy basement. We love our new house and all the charm and character. It definitely needs some TLC but it's livable and we enjoy living here and all the things the property has to offer.
Thanks for stopping by and hopefully the basement wasn't too scary!
Join us on our new adventure of moving our entire life and starting a brand new homestead from scratch. We will still be using our off-grid cabin to do the things we love, which include, splitting wood, hunting, maple syrup, and a whole lot more.
Follow along with us as we show you how to build a homestead from scratch!
We hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

What a dream of a beautiful home!! 😍 There is not a “modern home” around that can beat the beauty of a historic home…. ENJOY!!
Thanks for watching!
Great old house. Thanks for the tour.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Usually the older houses had a parlor. Which I think was the other room. It is a beautiful house and I am with you on why people paint over woodwork.
Oh yes, a parlour makes sense! We didn’t think of that
Historically wood was painted, often with a brown wood paint, this was so cheaper wood could be used and nobody was any the wiser, white paint was used for trims and ceilings, walls in public rooms would have paper and be very showy private rooms ie upstairs was just painted with a distemper, bit like paint. ❤
@@lesleyharris525 this white paint was put on right before we bought the house 🎨
the light fixture in your washroom is made of Uranium glass therefore it glows!
It is an amazing house just waiting for love and a family. Looks like it found the right people to bring love back into by bringing it back to life.
We hope to be able to bring it back to life and give it what it’s been missing for so long!
Our house was built in 1920,about half as big as yours. We have the ceiling vents and the marks, on the floor where walls were, we just left them sanded it down and stained it. Looks great. I replaced all the windows twenty years ago. It helps in the winter. We heat with wood also. You have alot of projects ahead of you, be patient, and have fun. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome, good for you guys. Your house sounds lovely 😀
Amazing find. Lots of new memories to be made.
Thank you for sharing your story 🌸
We are excited to see what this new place brings! 🏡
Your house is beautiful, I love the old ones better than the new ones, better made and way more character to them!
I think they’re much better built , too! 😀
A wonderful old home.
It’s got a lot of character!
OMG!!! What a beautiful Home
Thank you! 😀
That house is absolutely beautiful! Please restore that front door, don’t replace it.
If the door is replaced , it will be replaced with one from the same time period 🙂
You sure cannot judge a book by it's cover!
Good luck with your Reno's!
Lots of work to be done!
I am a plumber first time i saw the big cement tanks in the basements was in selkirk ontario
They are pretty neat! We will clean it up but leave it there as a piece of the house 😊
thank you for the video
Glad you enjoyed it!
House has good bones! Looking forward to the transformation.
We’re looking forward to it, too! 🏡
Inspiring! Love your style and the house!
Thanks! 😀
Beautiful home guys don’t get discouraged by all the work, I looked at this way in Port Hope with my Victorian fix and restore something every year even if it’s just one room.
What you guys have accomplished so far in the short amount of time you have been there is amazing.
The cellar in my Victorian had the same stone foundation work as there was a bay window from the cellar all the way to the third floor bedroom in the attic.
Speaking of the attic make sure you bring us along with you when you go up there bring the camera 😊
Loved the fridge footage lol
I didn’t know if I should ask this but any signs of ghosts? There might be just listen for them!
That’s what we were thinking too, one room at a time and eventually it will get done! We will bring you along for the attic !
No signs of ghosts yet 👻
Beautiful house. Thank you for the real life tour. Your refrigerator looks like everyone else no shame. It was actually neater than mine. lol. Nice video thank you. I also love your cabin so much I became a subscriber today. Can’t wait to see all you do with your homestead.
Glad you’ve joined the channel and are enjoying the videos 😀
Just saw this one--very nice. Thanks for showing............m
Thanks for watching!
Oh what fun you’ll have making it your home!💗
Lots of work to do!
Це точно.
Гарне відео
Thank for the BONUS fridge tour!
nice house didnt here one car drive by,good luck on the home guys.
A lot less traffic here than at the old house!
I love your new(old) house, your plans to restore and replace eg windows is beautiful, keep the vids coming ❤️and respect as always from the uk ( ps I bet the kids are loving it 👍
We will definitely keep making content, no shortage of stuff to film around here!
Your home is vinyl sided, which unfortunately has removed all the detail & flattened the façade of the house. If you want an original 1900 home, remove the vinyl siding and get to the beautiful wood clad siding under the vinyl. Oh, & restore the original front door.
We are going to remove the siding 🙂
Just discovered your channel in the last couple of days… love your off grid cabin. Now I discover that we are in the same community. I know a local contractor that can restore and modernize your front door. Cheers and Welcome!
Very beautiful house!!!
We love it too!
Beautiful
Thank you
I love your home! I would to have an older home like that, so much history to figure out!
Lots of history! That’s the best part 😀
I bet your room didn’t know what it was is probably the living room and the part where the stove was a Fourier my grandma had a house somewhat like that it that what her was it was the walk in room to put coats hats and stuff like that
Awesome place! Looking forward to seeing your journey.
Thanks! We are excited 😀
Just found your channel. What province are you from? I'm in BC. Gonna be binge watching your videos this week lol
Glad you found us! We are in Ontario 🇨🇦
that vent pipe is likely cast iron, be careful with it
Way cool house:)
Thanks!
you guys have to be careful with cooking on the wood stove the heat and steam dosent warp the tin ceiling ,
I think it will be ok 🙂
Love the tour of the house. What brand of wood stove did you go with?
Energy pacific 🔥
@@living.different haven’t ever heard of that brand. Looks really neat with the pivot tops. We for sure use ours to cook on when the power goes out
@@bjhunt4ever we had a jotal at the other house but couldn’t find that stove again once we moved , unfortunately

Love The Show!!!! I Think That Smile Can Save The World!!!!
J'aimais beaucoup votre maison hors réseaux.
Vos animaux, vos plantations cela me paraît gigantesque.
You talked light getting to all your canned veggies, etc. Why not just get some dark fabric to cover your shelves?
Qu'avait vous fait de votre maison hors réseaux dans les bois. ?
Nous l'avons toujours, c'est juste notre "cabane dans les bois".
Will you be able to renovate without historical society approval?
It’s on a heritage home list but it is not registered , so we don’t have restrictions!
