I'm glad they added this, like the entire time Eggman didn't feel like the villain in this game and it was great imo

@@LocalTrapTV noticed how eggman said that the kocos dna corroded to the point that they transformed into a different species, and from previous info about chaos 0 was that it was a mutated chao, that could also explain the reason why chaos 0 had a brain instead of a koco inside itself

Me, I love Orbot and Cubot, but I get they’re not for everyone. My favorite Eggman lackey will always be Metal Sonic, but Sage is quickly becoming a new fave too.
Metal is at his worst when he's Eggman's "lackey." he's always more enjoyable when he makes his own decisions, but yes, I agree he is one of Eggman's best creations
In 'canon' it's probably more in reference to the Sonic Rivals series since 06's timeline got reset. BUT if you max out all of your stats speed/rings/power/defense Sonic mentions knowing a time traveler. So *technically* you could make the argument that 06 was canon.
Sonic 06 was in Generations and we know at least Sonic remembers.
This is headcanon but Eggman traveled across time and space, including the ‘erased’ 06 timeline when he used time eater so it’s possible he remembers after Generations
I really enjoyed Eggman and Sage's relationship and how it humanizes Ivo here. With that said I do wonder how natural that will feel outside of this game, considering Eggman has done some pretty horrific things and has a long history of not giving a shit about other people. This is especially true if the Tangle line actually means IDW is canon, the continuity where Eggman created a whole ass zombie apocalypse with zero remorse.
Granted Ian Flynn is a talented enough writer, and clearly understands these characters well enough, that I believe he can make it work, but it won't be an easy task.
Also this game has two whole ass Riders references which makes me pleased.
I don't think someone being a good parent or having friends really disqualifies them from being evil.
Also, let's not forget Sage was really totally ok with having Sonic murdered for the first half of the game. She clearly is capable of being as ruthless as her creator. She doesn't even turn to the good guys side so much as she does everything in her power to protect her father. Sonic only just helps her realize WHY she feels the way she does.
Yes, Eggman doesn't care for people. But he makes exceptions for the things he creates, so long as they're useful. He's been shown to be proud of Metal Sonic similarly to how proud he is of Sage. Sage however has the added bonus of having a developed personality that goes beyond Metal's mimicry, so it is more readily apparent how she reciprocates with loyalty

@@DarkCryoBlade I guess my concern has more to do with we've never seen Eggman truly care about anyone. Even in the example of Metal Sonic he matters because he's useful, but it's not really affection driven by actual love as opposed to Sage.
The challenge the writing team is presented is having this new facet of Eggmans personality mesh with what we already know about him without it feeling unnatural. It's not that it can't be done and more that it hasn't, not like this anyway, so there's a risk that "caring father" Eggman and "world conquering narcissist" Eggman will feel like two seperate character competing with each other.
Now granted they could work that into Eggman's character development. In Frontiers he has a fairly passive role, being entirely reliant on Sage, which allowed him to express a softer side without interuption. The next game could explore him trying to balance this newfound affection while having a more active antagonistic role in the plot.
Don't take my concerns the wrong way, I'm genuinely curious where they're taking this and want to see more but that doesn't mean they don't have challenges to overcome because of this shakeup.
i actully have a theory that this new side of eggman might be some part of the mister tinker personality from the comics that's might have mixed with eggman just a enough to the point that he can have those fatherly feelings for sage.

Funny enough big being a phantom/god like character is a meme in the staff. So much so that in previous sonic games you can usually find at least one instance of big being there. There's videos showing all of bigs lil cameos across all the sonic games

Eh, some of the people who work on the games seem to consider him as secretly having godlike power. I wouldn't be surprised if they flat out revealed Big to be the most powerful entity in the Sonic universe. Send him into battle against The End. He'd probably win.

My favorites of Eggman’s minions were the robots from Sonic X. They were hilarious and still are to this day. But I think it will be nice to have one for him that you can take more seriously and enjoy the presence of on the screen, aka Sage

Sage has got to be my favorite Eggman partner
She’s a bland character at the start but as the game goes on there genuine character development from her lifeless AI personality to a unique character also Sage does what Metal, Orbot, and Cubot never did show a more human side of Eggman’s character especially at the end of the game from only seeing her as a AI to legitimately someone he cares about by the end and the last cutscene show it with Eggman trying to bring her back and saying “That’s my Girl” and in the memos
And the way Mike Pollock delivered the line, you can feel that Eggman was happy to hear Sage's voice
Metal sonic did show a little of eggman's human side in the IDW comics. He even said "outta boy" to metal when he gave eggman the thumbs up after asking if he punched sonic in the face
Remember, a group of Ancients split off from the rest in case they couldn't defeat the End, taking the Chaos Emeralds with them to find the Master Emerald, which drew them to Earth in the first place. That means they devolved into the Chao, and the Master Emerald mutated one of the Chao into Chaos.

9:28 Even I know that isn’t true. SEGA originated in Japan. There, the doctor was originally named Eggman. When the western countries started working on the series, they called him Robotnik. But his true name remains, and has been canonically used since Adventure 2.

Adventure 2 was also the last time we saw the doc calling himself Robotnik in the games : during his tv announcement, we can see the words "Robotnik Empire" in the background.
