Just started collecting Epic Collections they have got me back in to reading comics again. And found your channel great overview of the volumes and really helpful thank you.
Just wanted to let you know as a new collector of epics your videos have been super helpful in how to collect and what to expect. I’ve been a fan of Marvel and DC comics all my life growing up. But I always read stories through hand me downs from my uncles and have been looking for a way to collect stories I may have missed out on reading or don’t have completed and these seemed like the best way outside of omnibuses. Thank you for being super informative and passionate about these as it has greatly helped me in finding what I’m missing and where to look/ what to expect moving forward.
I love the new presentation style & methodology, with the inclusion of cinematic side by sides, B-roll, voiceovers, & all the facts 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 great work, dude!

Love these overviews, clear and concise. The world of Epics can be daunting with over 300 volumes available, but these videos are a big help. Looking forward to that volume 9 later this year, and also the reprints of volumes 6 and 7! 🫶
Do you think volume 10 will have the Wolverine miniseries by Claremont and Frank Miller in it (the series where he goes to Japan and fights the Hand)? It was in the uncanny X-Men Omni 3, and they never collected it in the Wolverine epics
I’m thinking that X-Men Epic will only include Generation Next and Final Sanction. Life Signs doesn’t really have to do with the X-Men team so it can be skipped. (It will show up in the Excalibur/X-Factor/X-Force Epics).

Great overview. I was wondering about the logo, mainly the colour change but the style change is interesting. Does the old printing also have a misprint for the contents on the back? There’s an extra v spelling vand and they miss off foom?
even though I'm really late to comment this, but I would advise to not purchase this book (#22) if you don't want a cliff hanger. if you're buying all X-Men epics, then go ahead. I own Uncanny 300 & 315 and X-Men 25. I would purchase a Collection that had those issues in the same book.
Uh oh, is this the first time that a significant change has been made to an Epic? Outside of minor changes to the back copy or slight touch ups on the interior? Completist sense, tingling...
I was going to skip the X-Men Second Genesis since I already have it. But if the pages of the old volume are prone to yellowing then I'm going to buy the newer volume since I will always go back and reread these issues as this is the version of X-Men I grew up reading. Have you notice any of the older Epics also yellowing, Kurtis?

Literally all of the rest of the X-Men Epics are covered in omnis up to the end of Claremont, and then in oversize hardcover after Claremont. Vol 4 is the only volume that doesn’t appear in hardcover!

Do You know why in modern collections they clean the covers (only the image) without titles, the number of the issue, etc? I love yo see the covers as they were published. What do You think? Regards.

DC has started and stopped things like this over the years. DC Archives, Chronicles, Showcase, and the Golden, Silver, Bronze Age omnis and trades. But they bailed on all of them.
Valiant has “Valiant Classics” and “Valiant Masters” lines that seem to be a bit similar, but I don’t keep track of them enough to know how complete they are.
Great content, Curtis! Would you be willing to do a video highlighting which X-men Epic Collections have additional issues mapped in as opposed to the Omnis? I believe the first 3 Epics and the first 2 Omnis are the same, but starting with the Claremont ones there’s extra content like the Marvel Team-Ups, right? The Mutant Massacre thru Inferno Omnis are beautifully mapped (do you have those, or do you stick exclusively to Epics?), but the Epics before and after stick in extra issues, I think? I’m not someone who minds my bookshelf having different formats, I just want the best mapped and most complete reading experience - while avoiding as much double-dipping as possible. Also: have you read Byrne’s Hidden Years? Does that take place BEFORE, DURING, and/or AFTER Epic vol 4? Thanks!!!
Beast is in his human form throughout the Hidden Years so it would have to take place before the Amazing Adventures issues in Epic 4. Interesting thought on the comparison video. I never bought into the Omnis, but it is easy enough to research.

That would be great. But I don’t think they would go more than two volumes a year.

Assuming Morrison's run would be the cut off point - how many more classic epic volumes would come after Legaciec vol 22?

People want to see all the art. The only reason they don’t do it in the old Epics is because the logo and trade dress is built into the original art.
I got into the epic collections to replace my Essential X-Men volumes. Still waiting on them to finish, hurry up Marvel!

Would X-cutioners song, Legacies, or Fatal Attractions be the best stopping point in x-men epics?
Personally, I like X-Men all through to Age of Apocalypse and even after that.

No, other companies don’t do this to the extent that the Epics are doing. It is really a remarkable thing that Marvel has done here!

Are these printed on archival/acid free paper? Or are these pages going to turn yellow?
I can’t say for sure. I don’t know exactly which paper they are using, but the printer of these newer volumes seems to be using better stuff.
Does Legacies contain the issue with passing of Illyana? That one really affected me as a youngster.
No, that will be in vol. 23.
