Another great vid, Omar. Thanks for all the info, every time I come on to this channel I always learn something new. Your random general knowledge is one of the reasons I hit that notification bell :)!!
Beautiful art from this era. Such a trip reading through it in the claremont/lee 1 omni. Claremont really had free reign and was experimenting like crazy. So much fun
This is a great jumping on point , were basically starting off with a new team . Claremont was good at juggling characters & fineding ways to concentrate on 4 or 5 players & develop them then sideline them & concentrate on another, rinse & repeat
"After this" X collection is the stuff that Marvel seems hesitant to reprint / collect (like OG Secret Wars). I.e. _UXM 268_ (that iconic cover), _Extinction Agenda UXM 270-273_ (plus NM & XF ishs); but *Mainly "Savage Land Rogue"* _UXM 269, 274-277_ (Mags ❤ Rogue) Which would/ should be _X-men Epic collection 18._ Although said material can be found in A _Jim Lee X-men: Visionaries_ tpb. That I never come across at stores anyhow.
Have this one pre-ordered. I’m a major fan of the Epic line. It’s the best way I’ve seen to get entire runs of all the great Marvel series. It’s exciting to see how much is already out there. I’m not a fan of the chunky hardcovers. Epics are portable and the perfect size to hold in your hands.
Yeah I love it. It shows Omar's passion and knowledge of the medium. He's an aficionado and that's the type of person I want to listen to talk about this stuff.
I’m still waiting for the Lee / Claremont omnibuses to come back. I have the three Uncanny omnis by Claremont, but I really, really hope Marvel brings back the Lee and Claremont omnis.
I really enjoy your first look at these epic collection. I love the X-men but I’m not so knowledgeable on their comics. So hearing you talk more in-depth about a particular storyline is awesome to me. It get me interested into reading this book. I feel like you should do some reviews on certain epics you really enjoy or didn’t. That would also be a must watch for me. Keep up the great work Omar 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
read this for the first time over the weekend and have to say it was the first epic collection where i had no idea what was going on 😅 seige perilous what?! that said i gobbled it up and enjoyed slowly piecing it together. Loved the Jim Lee issues!
I’ll be ordering mine and other Marvel Epics on the next IST loyalty sale. I’m years behind in reading but I look forward to eventually getting caught up to the good X-Men comics. (I’m almost finished with the 2nd x-men Epic, ha!)
Awesome video! I'm definitely getting this wonderful book! your review convinced me to get it!! I have another question, though: Is there any TPB that collects the "outback" years? It's not on any of the epic collection TPBs, right?
Omar and Marvel, once again, make me open my wallet. The stories and art (especially the art) in these issues are so great and bring back so many great memories. I REALLY need Marvel to reprint the Claremont/Lee X-Men omni's. I mean, like, having hallucinations of bugs crawling up my arms, I'm sweating, and I need my Claremont/Lee fix NOW, need!!! Thank you for your insights, Omar. Also, since I consider you my brother from another mother I'll let the Bon Jovi thing go for now. For now. #OmarRules #JimLeeBackToMarvelDrawingTheXMenPlease
Hey Omar! Will this be a good first Claremont X-Men book or will I be completely lost? I've been wanting to get into that whole run for a while, but there's so much of it and I really can't afford buying a lot of omnis of a run I'm not too familiar with, so Epics seem like a better choice. If it's not the best jumping on point, what other Epics or different editions would you suggest to get a taste of Claremont?
Honestly, I think it's a great run. It's the X-men in the outback and how they are about to change again. I think it's a great point to jump on as Claremont always does an amazing job of reintroducing everyone to these characters.
I collected issues 93-203 of Claremont uncanny X men in marvel pocket pooks which are super cheap. Then I collected 204- 243 in essentials and this will almost complete the run
Instant buy... JUST TAKE MY MONEY Marvel!! Geeking out x1000. Gambit 1st appearance too. This Epic will sell out quick or be out of print. Basically replaces the Jim Lee X-men omnibus 1. Bummer they couldn't do a vol.17 & 18 on the same day - as a celebration thing. I'm looking forward to a reprint of the omnibus but I enjoy the readability of the epics. I paid a lot for x-men essentials vol 9 (the non-colored, newspaper quality) book. Reliving the stories from the early 90s!
usedbymyusername it will have X-Tinction Agenda, Days of Future Present, Savage Land, Shiar. The Muir Island Saga has been already collected in volume 19.
Off topic, what are your thoughts on the Marvel Noir universe? I just read Spider-Man Noir, and I enjoyed it. Then googled the Marvel Noir Universe and they have several titles. I must now include Marvel Noir in my most wanted Omnibus list! Sorry for the lengthy comment.
Classic artwork, though I don't think a lot of these are Claremont's best X-Men work. It got better when jim lee became the regular artist. I'd still take this over modern day x-men in a second though.
Omar's mutant ability is being able to obtain early copies of Marvel products
HAHAHAHA Sometimes. :)
Glad to see these stories back in print. I would have preferred a reprint of the Claremont/Lee Vol 1 Omni, but what can you do...?
Totally agree!!! Here's hoping that a reprint will come in the near future.
I'm sure those will be reprinted sometime.
Another great vid, Omar. Thanks for all the info, every time I come on to this channel I always learn something new. Your random general knowledge is one of the reasons I hit that notification bell :)!!
Thank you so much for the kind words, brother. :) and for hitting that bell!
This was my first contact with X-Men in comics after the cartoon. I remmeber to think that was very confuse at that time, but I really enjoyed it.
Lots different than the cartoon. That's for sure.
Beautiful art from this era. Such a trip reading through it in the claremont/lee 1 omni. Claremont really had free reign and was experimenting like crazy. So much fun
Claremont was killing it then. I loved all these stories.
Can't wait to get it! Thanks for previewing this ^^
Thank you for watching.
This is a great jumping on point , were basically starting off with a new team . Claremont was good at juggling characters & fineding ways to concentrate on 4 or 5 players & develop them then sideline them & concentrate on another, rinse & repeat
The entire team was disbanded and we got a whole new blood in there. I'm fond of this era.
This was such a amazing run. Brings back so many memories. Tell me something. Is there a epic collection after this?
There are a couple after this.
"After this" X collection is the stuff that Marvel seems hesitant to reprint / collect (like OG Secret Wars). I completely agree. These can be taken places unlike omnis.
Do people complain when the overviews edge on reviews? I actually enjoy when you go on a bit about the book.
Thanks, brother. You know people, some complain about everything. :)

I'm sure they will, but it might be a while since we are getting the Jim Lee XXL book.

Lol it’s in the middle of a story and transition period for the X-men.
@@NearMintCondition XD bring on epics volume 16 and 18!
There's a lot of great art in that book. I can't wait to pick this up!
Fantastic art! For sure.
I’ll be ordering mine and other Marvel Epics on the next IST loyalty sale.
I’m years behind in reading but I look forward to eventually getting caught up to the good X-Men comics.
(I’m almost finished with the 2nd x-men Epic, ha!)
ohh you started with the Silver Age. I tend to think they get so much better in Claremont's first Epic.
This is some darn good comics! Really though I want those Omni reprints.....if only I knew of someone with ties to Marvel to suggest that. 😅
LOL It's ben suggested.
I really just need the X-Men vol. 1 and 2 Claremont and Lee omnibuses
Give it some time.
Great video! Can’t wait for this volume! I’m getting it only in Epics.
That's awesome to hear that you are getting the Epics.
Awesome video! I'm definitely getting this wonderful book! your review convinced me to get it!! I have another question, though: Is there any TPB that collects the "outback" years? It's not on any of the epic collection TPBs, right?
Nothing yet as far as epics or tpb.

No one should haveto be forgiving for the Bon Jovi love!! :) I would love to see Jim Lee drawing X-men again.

That is just about his complete run. All the way to 280.
Finally got the reprint
i have some Epic Collection digital, but i cant get into digital comics,i dont know why
I like physical. :)
Do you think we’ll get a j m Dematteis Spider-man Omnibus?
I hope we do one day.

YES!! these stories are awesome. I absolutely love them.
What would be the Epic that follows this? Start with 268 and then through the Muir Island Saga?
usedbymyusername it will have X-Tinction Agenda, Days of Future Present, Savage Land, Shiar. The Muir Island Saga has been already collected in volume 19.
Most of Muir Island is in volume 19 Second Genesis.

I discovered x-men a few issues after gambits first appearance, in 3rd grade i belive then in 5th the cartoon debuted & it was a wrap
Yeah man that cartoon brought so many people into X-men.
If I buy this Epic Volume, will I be double dipping in any omnibuses?
Yes of course
Always
This is in the first Claremont/Lee omnibus.
How’re you liking Hixman, Omar?
Really digging it. We are reviewing it every other week on the channel on Wednesdays Live at 8pm.
I would rather get the omnibus. But this can be a possible alternative for me. These epics are good.
The Epics are solid.
I've only read a couple like Spidey and DD, they were pretty good.
Why is this one sold out everywhere already?
Because its in high demand, more people buying Epics and the Jim Lee omnibus is sold out.
@@NearMintCondition I found it after all at another comic book store in my city. Whew.
Classic artwork, though I don't think a lot of these are Claremont's best X-Men work. It got better when jim lee became the regular artist. I'd still take this over modern day x-men in a second though.
I agree. Although Hixmen has been really good so far.
😊😊
Missed issue 268! Ugh.
It'll be in the next collection. Volume 19.
"only us costumers" :(
Can this not be bought over seas?
Its Jim Lee. I have to have it.
Hell yeah!
