I've been a bit critical about Ariel personally of late, but this really was a masterful interview by Helwani. With Arnold Allen you literally get back from him what you give. He matches the energy of others so perfectly, you give a half arsed interview asking superficial, generic questions ... Allen will feed you "yes" "no" "Ipswich" "opposition name" and nothing else. But you interview him like this and you get a near hour long conversation that couldn't show Allen's personally better. Ariel has done a lot to help non-British fans get to know and understand people like Allen, Leon etc who don't naturally translate to other audiences by themselves
He should feel zero shame in losing to Max. It was a fairly even fight and this kid is going places if he hung in there like that with one of the greats! Imagine the improvements he will make after studying the fight. Mad respect to the kid.
Allen cemented his place at the top of the division, he proved he belongs there, that is a big deal, it's a win..He didn't get blown out of the water like so many people have when they fought Max..His stock literally went up, beyond any doubt...
This was his only lost in over 10 years. Also his first fight that ever went 5 rounds & went toe to toe with one of the greatest featherweights of all time. He put in a phenomenal effort.

Alexander is the greatest UFC Featherweight I've seen but man, Max Holloway is still my all time favorite Featherweight! Dude has fought EVERYONE from, Alexander, Aldo, McGregor, Charles, Yair, Edgar, Ortega, Pettis, Arnold, Kattar, Cub, etc

Allen gained millions of fans in that loss to max. He has nothing to be ashamed of. Honestly think he gained more fans because of how he handled the loss. You can see it means so much to him but he still is humble and just a genuine guy.
Arnold will absolutely be back, I have no doubt. He looked like a beast that night. Insane power and killer instinct. No shame in not being able to catch Max, it's what he does.
I'm from the same area as Allen and let me tell you, apart from a few exceptional beaches... we have nothing. I remember seeing the vastness of America (I have driven from Florida to New York, Georgia to Idaho) and being speechless. Beautiful country and good people.

Max's output wasn't high because of Arnold's shutting down and cutting off a lot of his game. You could see that Arnold had a chance at finishing that fight but Max rarely finishes. I have no doubt Allen will be back. Definitely one of the most exciting fighters out there
It was a good fight but Allen slowed down in the second half of the fight and never tried to get some wrestling going. I honestly think he's a tough match up for Volk if he can get used to these 5 round fights
I noticed in the 2nd round he started throwing less left hands, i thought uh oh, but then he occasionally used it so i thought maybe hes alright but not surprised at all to hear he hurt it like i thought he did.
Arnold, you should absolutely in no way feel as though you let yourself down. Here’s why: you never had any real chance of winning that fight. Not unless you caught Max on a bad night which he was not going to have after his humbling loss to Volk at 276. Max is elite. He’s not the best FW that’s clear. But he’s as close to a current champ as you can get. His resume is ridiculous. The amount of high level fighters, legends and future HOF’s he’s fought towered over your repertoire and winning streak. I take nothing away from you. You’re extremely talented and fought a great fight. Had some amazing moments there where you cracked him good. But don’t look at this as a let down. Be proud for the rounds you won. This is how you get better. God bless!
He did great, and should be proud of himself. His corner should have put that pressure on a round earlier and I imagine they are well aware of this in hindsight.
