There was one point where you had the hugest smile on your face just listening to it, and it always makes me feel so good to hear this song, and therefore that put a big smile on my face. It's so good in the story itself is fantastic and told him just the right tone I believe. And it's emotional, I mean when this guy dies at the age of 60, the old preacher says some words and they Chuck him in the clay, nobody came to pray. He spent a lifetime playing the black man's blues, and on the day old Curtis died well that's all he had to lose. And then the lyrics shift from third person to talking directly to Curtis, basically giving him his props and flowers in memorium.
Nailed it. I absolutely still have this album at my house, and I basically have all of their albums, laugh. And what a great name for a second album, Second Helping.
I LOVE this song. How can you not love a story/ song about an innocent child seeing the beauty in music & friendship? I can just see him staring up at Curtis while he played the Blues... Beautiful ❤️
For anyone who cares, a "dobro" is a generic term for any wood-bodied, single-cone resonator guitar. Look it up if ya wanna know more. Other than that, LOVED your reaction.........
*For another great song, by a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, check out "Brickyard Road". It's by Johnny Van Zant (the brother of this singer), who took over for Ronnie, when he died.*
The Ballad Of Curtis Loew Ive heard gary Rossington say few times Curtis Loew was real life was Shorty medlock he was Rickys grand pa (was black foot indian heratage) they just thought make him an old timer black man sounds better idk
Lol I do still have the original album I bought back in the 70s you cant fake great music , not even with all the crap out there today like auto tune. If you want to hear great music check out the Rightious Brothers from the 60s . But be prepared the Rightious Brothers are white , that said there is more soul in their music than any soul singer since.
And that's a true story👍✌
Rock on. ✌️
Old school is the best school.
😊 Good blues
