I am 6'3" 340lbs and can tell you how hard it was for me to remove the clip from the pedal on our work truck! Always fun to try and fit my arm, hands and body in places on vehicles and machines! Thanks for another great video Kenny!
This is on of those 'better you than me' repairs. I'd have to pay someone like you to do this repair. Tanks for a great video Kenny.
That is why he makes these videos. It show that you can do it.
@@jthonn Yes with a lift so I could stand outside the car with the truck 5 feet up on it.
A good size pair of channel locks would have been my go to on. That big nut ..
Gotta reset the button on ABS manifold next to master cylinder to get brake light to go off.
One method is to smash brake pedal as hard as you can several times. Some guys hit with lump hammer .
I just reset mine doing that.
Sounds crazy but it works .
Recenters piston in manifold to turn switch off for brake warning light .
THANKS KENNY!! I am literally about to do this job. And was worried about breaking down the brake system! Thanks for your help !
Well Mr Kenny, I'm late but I watched lol.Found out replacing a motor mount on an 07 Silverado,on the ground mind you lol is quite a task. Aleast it was the easy side lol. Dang I needed a lift 😢😢😢😅😂🎉
I saw those clips that you found on the brake pedal connection,in the early 70 on carburetor connections we cussed them back then too.
My dad bought his '82 Chevy 1500 4 years old from a dealer. It had a 6.2L diesel engine and came with a Vacuum Booster and a vacuum pump where the distributor would be. At around 65, 000 miles it started getting hard to stop. The vacuum pump had worn out. He ended up putting 2 vacuum pumps in that engine before he sold the truck. You don't have that problem with a hydro-boost. It was also around the late '80s when they started going to electrical A/C controls removing the need for auxiliary vacuum. 🤓
@@Kcwomack Not on a desiel of those years ,you had no vacume ,you needed a vacume pump.
I like to see that magnetic tray saves a lot of looking for bolts lol
Enjoyed the video Kenny, thanks for all the effort in making informative videos for us DIY guys.
I believe the hydro booster was with the towing option.
Thanks Kenny!!!
Sounds like a real fun job 😮 no not at all.
Why was the brake light still on?
Use the box end of the wrench on the big nut
Dennis Taylor Racing just did a video on how to use an ac vacuum pump to pull air out of those systems.
You're not going to film under the dashboard? WAAAHHHHH!!!! But seriously, I've messed around under dashboards a few times, and hated every millisecond of it. If you did film it, I would travel from Canada to shake your hand! That would be an impressive feat on your part.
That's the part I wanted to see too.
He could of at least put the camera in the passenger side and we could of listened to him grunt.
My truck has rhe abs hitched to it too.And I needed to have a scanner good enough to bleed the abs.
Another nice job Kenny.
Why wouldn't the box end fit over that nut?
You just don't want to film under the dash because of the language we may hear! 😂😂
Do not forget the snap ring
Oh my back, how do you contort under the dash.I would use the lift and stand outside the truck and work from there.
Those dewalts generally dont get weak. However our osolating saw slowed in half. Take to get repaired or buy parts and do it yourself.
Not much has changed on those boosters. Did one a few years back on my Versailles.
Kenny, will you tear down the old one and see if the O-rings could have been replaced? Messy job, good going, Glad I have a Ford.
Do you just eyeball it or do you consult shop manuals before work
I could be wrong (I am not a GM guy) and the gang here is sure to correct me... I think the HD version of the GM trucks had a heavier rear axle (full floating) where the non-HD's did not.
Curious that the shop is so quiet. Do you film your videos after hours?
Hey Kenny Wheres thebrake cleaner for the clean up of the job???
Thankyou
I like it.
What about a chain wrench???????
Why the wide screen can't see what you are doing
PS, good job on not mangling that pedal clip! I don't think your customers appreciate how difficult and the physical gyrations it takes to work under the dash.
I have never changed one and my body doesnt move well at my age under a dash. LOL
Do not lose that clip too,a $20.00 to $25.00 clip from GM only
If the brake lights and the dome lights kill the battery in the short amount of time it takes to do that job, then it's not much of a battery
No battery will last for long.
@peterwill3699 mine will run my headlights for 7 hours and still start my truck. It happened 6 weeks ago
@donames6941 well you must have a fork lift battery in the bed of your truck, hahaha.
Instructions don't say anything, you have to read them. Did we pass Kenny?
Looks like fun! Not😮
