I love this channel. No "torque specs" or nitty gritty things. Just fixing it the way most people would in their driveway. Wish I had the money to fix up trucks like this because despite the annoying parts its a fun experience
Glad you're still taking time to make content. I hope your workspace situation gets resolved quickly and as pain free as possible. Merry Christmas to you Scott and your family brother!
I have done many rebuilds in my garage but I have never tackled the complicated jobs you have. You are my hero!! Oh FYI I am 76 years old and am not afraid of any project. Keep doing what you are doing and we will just keep sitting here with awe of your work.
Even the Shadow Gnome laughed at the "Afternoon Crew" scream! Scott, I guess you are glad this Duramax didn't get roasted in the shop fire 🔥I know it must be annoying when Vehcor fans are chomping at the bit to buy your restorations - but hey, take it as the ultimate compliment! We dig what you do. We will be happy when you get a shop again, even with trains/planes/whatever. Merry Christmas to you, Pizza Girl, Afternoon Crew - and the Supervisor...
Stop coming and getting all of our rust free trucks! You were only just a few miles from my house. If I would have known you were down this way would have invited you over and cooked you a Cajun meal. Well good luck with the truck. Enjoy your videos.
I’m anxious for you to get a good shop. If it means anything, I’d consider you one of the top TH-camrs on here. You’re very thorough and do awesome work. To get to see you rebuilding cars and the bodywork gnome doing the other work would be great.
I run a tow company, have worked at a body shop, and concord many unknown projects. Love to see you doing the same. Love the videos and keep up the great work.
5:19 I kept my 30' boat at a marina that had 3 yacht clubs surrounding it. A buddy kept his boat at 1 of them. He said "we're having a boater's flea market come on over" there was a guy selling a zodiac, with a wood floor, and a 2 hp suzuki for $150. At the time, a new zodiac was $1500 WITHOUT a motor, and this held air, floor recently finished, and the motor was a non runner. I bought it on the spot, threw it in the back of my truck, drove over to my marina. I had a shore slip so I could park right behind my boat. I got the motor took it to the dock. Ok, motors don't run if there's no fuel or no spark. Checked, had a nice strong spark. carb was dry as a popcorn fart. The "throttle" was a twist knob. Spin it out to go fast, turn it in to go slow. As I was turning it out, it got easier and easier, spun it right out and what did I find? A brass screen/filter completely clogged with rust. Cleaned it with carb cleaner, filled the little tank on top with fresh gas/oil. Pulled the cord ONE fired right up. I mounted it on the inflatable, got in, drove back over to the yacht club. Total time: 20 mins. The guy who sold it saw me and I waved at him lol My buddy told me that night he WAS PISSED. "your friend RIPPED ME OFF he's a THIEF" All summer he wouldn't let it go and gave it to my buddy at every opportunity lol
56:03 I got a tip from South Main Auto LLC! When working around a radiator, tape a piece of cardboard over the radiator fins, to avoid any accidents to the radiator!
When building g project cars I have always used a used real estate for sale sign , some duct tape, and leave the protection on " until the carcis ready to start"
I hope you do show the follow-up video to see what was actually wrong with that motor. If it was like you said a water pump bolt and you snapped the chain or whatever else it could have been
I drove from Oklahoma through the entire state of Illinois to northern Michigan with a bed turned upside down just like this! I used four 1x1 stakes to line up the stake pockets and crossed the ratchet straps.
Accidentally had the captions on and the train horns were listed as applause and laughter. Maybe the train thought you were amusing and liked your work. Another great episode. Thanks and Peace!!
Hey man .. big fan. Hey, an old-timer taught me a trick wayyy back when I got started wrenching . When you get ready to install the trans, look at the bolt holes in the flywheel. Most(not all) have one bolt hole that's oblong and longer vertically. Turn the engine until that bolt hole is the first one to get a torque converter bolt. Then you can just go around and crank em down. That hole like locates the torque converter so all the other holes line up.
If the DEF and SCR system is working it does actually convert the NO and NO3 into nitrogen, water, and oxygen. But that's if the injector hasn't turned into a fun crystallized science experiment. There's also an argument for if NO and NO2 are a problem as a pollutant everywhere in the country. In breezy Chicago, probably not, since it breaks down fairly quickly in sunlight. If all the modern diesel emissions equipment wasn't made out of a combination of paper mache and brittle plastic it would be a lot easier to be an advocate to keep it all working.
I don’t enjoy making these long videos but viewers seem to like them so I’ll do it. I didn’t think people would want to watch the long ones but the stats don’t lie. Thanks for the support!
Scott.... The flex plate as one hole that's narrower then the rest. That should be your first bolt into the torque converter and tighten to spec. All the other bolts will line up perfectly
Bought a 1954 Plymouth that was at a junkyard that couldn't get it running (crank, no start). Paid $200 for it and threw the driver 50 to tow it to my place. I knew what was wrong and had it running before the driver left. It was a complete rot box but the frame and drivetrain was good. Ended up swapping a wagon body on it and sold it.
Brilliant video Scott, and yes it would be good to see you do a strip down video of the engine, and explain if it is as you think a wrong bolt from the water pump replacement caused the fault,
We once lived a half mile from the end of the airport runway. It felt and sounded like I could go up on the chimney and shake hands with the pilot. Of course they came in during an important part of any TV program. We did have great seats when the Blue Angels came to town.
I still think you would fit right in down here Louisiana and you are welcome any time I’d bet you would even like grits and crawfish and as usual I like your videos thanks again
Nice truck, and you made the engine swap look effortless. It’s going to be very interesting to see what the issue was with the original engine. I’d have no hesitation purchasing that truck, or any of the vehicles I’ve seen you repair/rebuild. The problem that I often see when I look at used vehicles is the evidence that someone has worked on the vehicle. Broken clips, clamps ,plugs, wires, it’s so easy to spot when whoever worked on it didn’t give a sht.
Scott--I really HATE to have to correct you, but since Mr. Spotty is on sabbatical, I must. Freon is a resisted trade name by DuPont for R-12 (dichlorodifluoromethane) which has been banned for years. Most newer systems use HFC-134a refrigerant. I;m really not your typical hater but learning A/C systems in the early 1970's by teacher whom was a stickler for details...by the way I really like your videos and sense of humor.
I am well aware. Add that to the list with sawzall, Kleenex and all the others companies that did a bang up job marketing. If you really hated it, you wouldn’t have done it. Just own your comments and show your superiority or stay humble. Just because your teachers hadn’t learned that doesn’t mean you can’t. Since we are correcting people, most new systems are the government mandated 1234yf. Honestly, that didn’t need to be said but, you know, stickler for details….
The flywheel has one oval hole that’s the one you start with (alignment hole) and you can torque that first bolt right away all the others will align no problem one time around (gas motors) I’m sure diesel to are the same good job 👍
28:53 I'm thinking dropped valve. 2 mins later "water pump bolt" Imagine if that was all it was, and all you had to do was remove the bolt and the engine was fine.
I think this is an old video that’s just getting edited now that was filmed in the old shop. That extra bed was strapped on the truck like that in the RCSB Silverado rebuild from a while ago.
Nice job Scott. The Pizza girl is definitely prettier than the shadow gnome. The bent extension reminded me I need to replace one of mine. I think the bend on mine is on the opposite side. Have a good weekend.
Getting it off the trailer, when your front tires got to the back lip of the trailer should have put it in park to lock the rear wheels and then drove the trailer forward a foot.
Liked it, instead of sweeping the dirt underneath the carpet or whatever, just add another piece of carpet or flooring, and to think some say you dun't thunk..
My brother's friend lived in a house that was right beside train tracks. When he was over there one day. A train went by. My brother said he jumped. His friend and his family just got used to the train, and it didn't bother them.
Maybe if the trains made less noise for crossing people wouldn't 'tune out' the noise as you said and there would be fewer smashes on rail crossings. Here in the UK trains do not blare horns for crossings and we have very few smashes on crossings. When I worked in the USA it was train noise that really got to me. it was like ALL the time! But on more important issues the cab lift was the right way to do the engine swop and of course it all worked out well. To me access is more important than time. Brits don't do 'real quick' 🤣🤣
There’s a lot of industry in Louisiana it was probably a fleet truck that idled for eternity in the middle of nowhere and never got maintenance 1:02:17
It's great to see that you now have a shop. No doubt, it makes the work a little more pleasant. Another great video, Scott. Thanks.

Yes, a Duramax engine swap. Waiting for the old engine diagnosis 😊😊😊😊😊😊

Hope you get your own place soon buddy you deserve it that is some fine work
Your videos, never get boring.

Love the Chevy truck rebuilds!

I recognized Gerry Lane, not far from me, he is too funny
Loving these hr long vids keep em coming
Scott really awesome to see the new shop.
I am always impressed with your skills, the jobs you tackle are beyond most guys.
Thanks Scott for a great Friday!
Any time! Hope you are having a good one, too!
I love the truck videos and how you effortlessly take them apart and put them together.

56:03 I got a tip from South Main Auto LLC! When working around a radiator, tape a piece of cardboard over the radiator fins, to avoid any accidents to the radiator!
Now you tell me. This was the first time I ever lost the gamble. Probably one of the more expensive radiators I could have ruined. Just my luck! 😂
@@vehcor I thought for sure that you had one at Scott's Chevy Pickup Emporium!
When building g project cars I have always used a used real estate for sale sign , some duct tape, and leave the protection on " until the carcis ready to start"
You did the whole job with the bent extension! Kudos to you!
Absolutely keep the trains!
Fantastic video Scott!!!
I hope you do show the follow-up video to see what was actually wrong with that motor. If it was like you said a water pump bolt and you snapped the chain or whatever else it could have been
Great video. Happy to see you're back in a shop. Always look forward to new vehcor content!
Waiting for the trailer scream😲 Brilliant!
Thanks!
You need to copyright it similar to the Wilhelm. Scream often heard in movies since the 30s😮😮
Great job like always 👏
What a great show. Changing this truck from nada to Prada was exciting to watch.
Still raises a smile taking the truck off the trailer, great post Scott 😊
Great video as always!
I always enjoy the truck builds!
Glad to have a full length video again.
I drove from Oklahoma through the entire state of Illinois to northern Michigan with a bed turned upside down just like this! I used four 1x1 stakes to line up the stake pockets and crossed the ratchet straps.

Yes, but even that method has failed me enough to just do it the way that has 100% successful outcomes all the time.
Thanks for the video Scott.

That Blue 72Chevy in the background looks interesting. Took my driving test in 1 of those.
I enjoyed watching that bent extension attempt to fly all over the place tightening motor mounts. 😂
You make it look easy.
Dam you make it look easy I know it's not keep up the good work 👍
Awesome Truck.
Sweet video glad to see more dismantle videos
I do love myself an hour long Scott special
I don’t enjoy making these long videos but viewers seem to like them so I’ll do it. I didn’t think people would want to watch the long ones but the stats don’t lie. Thanks for the support!
I enjoy the longer videos thank for them@@vehcor
Scott.... The flex plate as one hole that's narrower then the rest. That should be your first bolt into the torque converter and tighten to spec. All the other bolts will line up perfectly
Every flex plate has that. Good theory, has failed more than a few times. Enough that I don’t waste time and just start every bolt first.
Take us to the auction. Great rebuild
I like this project!
Looks like a nice truck. Man you weren't kiddin about that second train were you! Thx
I'll be telling my sons to check the timing on spring clamps quite often going forward!
Bought a 1954 Plymouth that was at a junkyard that couldn't get it running (crank, no start). Paid $200 for it and threw the driver 50 to tow it to my place. Most excellent adventure Scott!😊
Damn right you did all that in no time 💪🏽
Cordless electric hammer, I love it 🤣👍
We once lived a half mile from the end of the airport runway. It felt and sounded like I could go up on the chimney and shake hands with the pilot. Of course they came in during an important part of any TV program. We did have great seats when the Blue Angels came to town.
Excellent presentation & editting 👍👌🌹
Damn good work truck. Call your detail guy
With how slow and careful you were unloading it off the trailer, I thought you weren’t going to do the scream. 4:14 ahhh, there it is!
Snazzy yellow car back there. Dang, you make that look easy.
Happy Friday, Scott🍻
Same to you! 🍻
Whoa, is this a new shop?
the unloading of the truck was awesome. best ever
trains are cool don't worry about them. Just ask Jaw tooth
I wondered why I was having issues after working on my truck, I didn’t get the timing right on my spring clamps! 😂
Have a great weekend Scott
Commonly overlooked detail! 😂
I still think you would fit right in down here Louisiana and you are welcome any time I’d bet you would even like grits and crawfish and as usual I like your videos thanks again
I’ll take it over snow and cold any day!
Great video enjoy watching keep up the great work
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Great video Scott I wish I had the means to do something like this
Nice truck, and you made the engine swap look effortless.
It’s going to be very interesting to see what the issue was with the original engine.

Don't think I've ever been this early to one of these videos
For you efforts, you get a personalized thanks! Thanks for the support!
I like that Impala off in the corner That was our family car same color too. I put a few starters on that with my step dad .

Compared to my Iowa truck, that's showroom perfect😂😂😂😂
Is that wobbly extension available in your amazon store?
No, but the kit to make it is…. 12” extension and a big hammer! 😂
The flywheel has one oval hole that’s the one you start with (alignment hole) and you can torque that first bolt right away all the others will align no problem one time around (gas motors) I’m sure diesel to are the same good job 👍
That extension.. 😆
49:22 the step ladder slipped which causes the hind end to pucker
that truck was marking it spot coming of the trailer. nice wet puddle of fluid in the middle.
28:53 I'm thinking dropped valve. 2 mins later "water pump bolt" Imagine if that was all it was, and all you had to do was remove the bolt and the engine was fine.
Who's workshop are you working in is that your new workshop
I think this is an old video that’s just getting edited now that was filmed in the old shop. That extra bed was strapped on the truck like that in the RCSB Silverado rebuild from a while ago.
Somebody didn't watch the full video
They are all good, this one is no different.
Nice job Scott. The Pizza girl is definitely prettier than the shadow gnome. The bent extension reminded me I need to replace one of mine. I think the bend on mine is on the opposite side. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Man, I got frustrated doing a Honda civic. Great job. Must have done a few if u got that far in 1hr.
Getting it off the trailer, when your front tires got to the back lip of the trailer should have put it in park to lock the rear wheels and then drove the trailer forward a foot.
Any updates on the mustang????
You need to be more specific, with 10, I don’t know which one you mean.
@ the orange one. The old mustang that is going to go on the new one. I don’t think you have posted a video on it in nearly 2-3 years
Ratchet straps always hold as long as you say the magic words-“that’s not going anywhere”
Liked it, instead of sweeping the dirt underneath the carpet or whatever, just add another piece of carpet or flooring, and to think some say you dun't thunk..
Man, what a project. After a job like this working on a Toyota would probably seem like tinkering with a toy.
My brother's friend lived in a house that was right beside train tracks. When he was over there one day. A train went by. My brother said he jumped. His friend and his family just got used to the train, and it didn't bother them.
Heh... didnt trust the "gnome" for doing the screaming properly. Thats why you had to swap! XD
That too! 😂
Is it just me or does the shadow gnome have enough hair for the 2 of them? lol
He has more than enough for both of us! 😂
Maybe if the trains made less noise for crossing people wouldn't 'tune out' the noise as you said and there would be fewer smashes on rail crossings. Seeing the driveshaft go back in the transmission looks familiar.
Did I miss the post mortem on the engine? Or will that be in a future video?
I’m sure the train noise is annoying while you’re editing but as viewer, it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s just life. Hope you find a new spot soon.
Didn't catched 2 things. Mileage and price. The truck is perfect as it is
damn, that's a lot of wires going into and out of the fuse box. what about the muffler bearings? All interchangeable?🤣
Scott.. new shop?? Or just new to you..😆 🤣 😂
Been a while since we've heard the AAAAHHH!😂
