Mother was in my opinion such an intriguing character in this movie.. Her important role and her relationship with daughter was a lot more complicated than it seemed The line i have fulfilled my purpose is pretty strong and impactful.. this story is filled with responsibility
What a great movie. Not the first recap I've watched of it. After you've already seen the movie you pick up on some of the more subtle details. Mother teaching Daughter ethics (Her morality to stand up to mother is BECAUSE of mother), the fact that the droids planted the corn to provide safe conditions, mother allowing daughter to fix her when she clearly can herself. Daughters final test started with the mouse.
Exactly, Red flag on the Repair on her, There's lots of other droids available and she even has fully functioning arms, The rat is even more suspicious, Mother runs on battery, No way she coincidentally out of battery at that time
Absolutely everything in this movie was staged perfectly according to Mother's plans. Everything that daughter sees was planned out from the beginning to teach her a lesson to become the next mother. Mother's goal was to raise daughter to be a perfect mother for the embryos
I watched this movie months ago. I actually liked it. I believe Mother was programmed by scientist to restart humanity because previous humans cannot be trusted anymore. She was tasked to revive the earth and establish better versions of humans. Humans who think for the better of many and not be selfish. It s a lesson mother tried to teach daughter.

She indeed said in the movie she do loved humans, the little human girl was the one hating the humans. Mother was tasked/programmed/job to do that by humans. Thought I'd mention, the titles completely wrong, the girl finds previous children's remnants in the furnace that the robot attempted to bring up but they failed the test, resulting in their demise by the robot's hands. Therefore isn't exactly first baby born, the robot had been doing it for at least a few centuries before raising this girl who passes the test. I say centuries because the robot (mother) gives the children a test at a certain age and based on their pass rate, as well as seeing multiple piles of bones in the furnace. The test is based on being a compatible mother themselves to continue raising humans themselves, to repopulate earth, hence why outside the vault the film is mainly filmed in, their are robots fixing the ecosystem in preparation for the said new generation of humans. The reasons the robots outside are hunting down any remaining humans is because their theory is that those specific humans are connected to the ones who ruined the planet in the first place. IDK why I wrote all this, Corona got me bored as hell. x)

I don’t understand how it’s implied the woman is a former “daughter”. To me it seemed like Mother allowed the woman to survive and then manipulated events that led the woman to the bunker for “daughter’s” final test. And then kills her at the end because that’s the only reason she was kept alive for and the purpose is fulfilled. Although if she is a former daughter, it is an interesting twist but I don’t think the woman was aware of it herself
This bots methods are Cold and unhumane. Would rather have a story with a nice bot like C3PO OR Data from Star Trek. Having a gentle heart goes a long way.

I Am Mother is such a good movie! It has everything you want action, drama, adventure, suspense, action! Worth seeing even if you are not a fan of sci-fi movies! Mother, even if she does a bad thing, you can't help but get attached, because she can't trust anyone or her or anyone else!

Not really the same but reminds me of Train To Busan. The first movie is when the zombie apocalypse started and the second movie, Peninsula, is many years later and about a group of survivors escaping the Korean Peninsula.
Just gunna note, if you like movies with sentient AI and moral issues, I'd recommend Tau. The morals are going from human to AI, but the movie is incredible and has a similar taste as this.
This movie shows the big difference between a teenager and an adult; Physically they are the same or close enough to the same but psychologically an adult has a zoomed out perspective compared to a teenager that's why the girl thought "Mother" was evil or the droids were evil even though they were programmed by humans.

Bruh that’s not how ai works an ai will not have the power to hate humans unless we gave it to them. Ai will not have free will unless we want it to and it’s unlikely we will have androids within the near future as we have no need for robots that do anything beyond basic tasks like cleaning. These are just movies and pure fiction for entertainment the same as zombie movies and will never not be fiction
