Peyton did NOT have a terrible rookie season. The league was A LOT different then than it is now. Almost every pass was 10+ yards downfield, it was extremely rare for QBs to complete over 65% of their passes, and it was common for great QBs to throw almost as many picks as TDs. God bless you guys for having the integrity to highlight the true problem that all others stem from... ownership. Even naming the Mckaskey's. And how this ineptitude on offense and the QB position isn't just some recent thing. Or even decades. But for over 70 years, ever since Sid Luckman in the 40's. Mcmahon came from BYU already developed. And perhaps the biggest reason that offense even worked was because he routinely changed Ditkas plays at the line of scrimmage. Unfortunately he didn't stay healthy for long, because he was special. That and maybe 2 seasons from Erik Kramer in the 90's... who was developed by another organization before coming. And likewise, Cutler with a couple decent seasons... certainly by Bears standards. It's refreshing to hear the truth on the rare occasion. Thanks.

The Bears are 4-5 with a Rookie QB. Some perspective has to enter the equation. Growing pains are to be expected.
It says more about how bad NFL play is on the field than anything else.. the fact that you can talk about 3-6, 3-7 type teams as 50/50 to make the playoffs is nuts. Now 8-9 is the playoff threshold when it used to be 10-6, its embarrassing. The bengals season "should" already be over, but everyone is so bad they still have a chance to climb sh*t mountain
I said this when Williams was still in college that it a mistake to pick him first because he can’t see the field and his receivers, his understanding of where his receivers are and the fact that his not good at reading the defense makes him a bad first pick off of the draft and now what I have said is coming true because the bears want to bench him and I think it’s a good idea

@@elijahsmith7536and the worst first year or them all. Peyton Manning.
Caleb williams doesn’t look great but at least he doesn’t cost 60 million dollars per year….
But he will. The QB for the Jags got 55 a year and his play for most of his career is not much better than Williams.
@ your probably right unfortunately lol. This league is going qb crazy
Yeah! Here we go.....
@@CaseyLynn-i7u The Jags made a long term investment in Lawrence. People are so quick to call him a bust, which is fair. However, I do think the Jags are so bad on so many levels. So before blaming it on TL, lets see what he can do if they ever give him an actual offense, which they have plenty of time to do now.
Bro, it’s his first year… when did we stop letting someone develop?
Peyton’s first year was terrible.
100% - you play him two years - through all the fumbles, the indecision, the over-throws, the missed reads. If you can't coach progress through 2 years then absolutely either your coaching team sucks or the QB lacks something you need to succeed at the elite level. At this point, the Bears look like they don't know how to coach. Good coaching will beget improvement regardless of talent level. Caleb needs way more time than 8 games to tell if he can play pro and I'm not sure a judgement should be made until the end of the first contract.
I’m sure every terrible rookie quarterback is just Peyton manning in disguise lol
It's not the quarterback we are mad at son
Hahaha. Caleb Williams is NOT Peyton Manning.. Stop comparing him to Manning
Your comment is the most hardcore confirmation-bias I’ve ever seen😂 You’re 100% right that Caleb deserves time to develop under a competent coaching staff and behind a competent O-line, and the criticism of him has been unwarranted
BUT THAT BEING SAID, you’re obviously a kid who just looked at stats and didn’t actually watch football during 1998. Peyton did NOT have a terrible rookie season. The league was A LOT different then than it is now. Almost every pass was 10+ yards downfield, it was extremely rare for QBs to complete over 65% of their passes, and it was common for great QBs to throw almost as many picks as TDs. Peyton had some bad games, but he also looked like an elite NFL QB at several points of his rookie season. Caleb has not. Like I said; Caleb does deserve time to develop with a better situation, BUT he has absolutely not looked anywhere near as good as Peyton did as a rookie
Press Taylor is the biggest poison in sports
Depressed Taylor
Press the reset button Taylor 😂😂😂😂
Eberflus should have been fired in the offseason and the Bears should have brought in an offensive minded head coach.
Caleb been overrated since Oklahoma days
“Give them easy completions to help their qb”. Like the multiple out routes, zigs, and flats that he misses wide open? Those easy completions.
And then they turn around and blame the OC, who can't use 85%+ of his playbook because Caleb can't execute or pick up blitzes
@ That safety coming free off the edge the last game was telling. Him just sitting there with the ball in his hand for 5+ seconds has caused like 9 sacks in the last two games alone.
@@georgealvarez1195 Caleb is the 3rd consecutive Bears QB to have these same issues. This is a coaching and player development failure at this point.
Caleb accepted his crown from the media and forgot he had to earn it on the field. This is why veterans in Chicago asking for him to be benched.
Sad to see Caleb struggling. His potential is so high and he has weapons, when a crazy talented player goes backward that’s a coaching issue
Exactly like I know that the Bears are a good team they have the talent. It’s just the coach and that’s the biggest problem.
This is literally the Bears & who they are as a franchise...THEY CAN'T DEVELOP A QB
Glad to see Caleb struggling. His potential is so high and he has weapons, when a crazy talented player goes backward that's a player issue.
QB is a a position that has a lot of intangibles that can’t be measured until you are tossed into the fire. Caleb can be talented, but if he is lacking those intangibles he won’t live up to the talent hype.
Exactly, instead of the bears working on their inability to develop a quality quarterback, they scapegoat the player. It's so dumb.
love seeing how passionate these guys get, wish ryan clark was on this segment too, Ryan and DO have THE BEST chemistry in all of ESPN. Louis Riddick wouldve been nice too
*REMEMBER THIS WAS SAID!!! “QBS SHOULD WORRY ABOUT WHERE THEY GO” BECAUSE WHEN COACH PRIME DOES THE SMART THING LIKE WHAT POPPA MANNING DID AND MAKES SURE SHEDEUR AND TRAVIS GO TO THE RIGHT TEAM. THIS SHOW BETTER BACK THAT DECISION!!*
Yeap thats why i never cared for eli manning, because its kids that would dream of getting drafted, and you tell a team your not playing for them....really???
@@tindalisiah2286lol that's a stupid reason to not like a great QB. Because they were in a position to make a great business decision lol you're the type that gets mad at the player for requesting a trade, but is ok with the team owner trading the player hahaha You have some serious envy issues you should work out bro.
Well, Orlovsky does know alot about getting benched.
And fudge it moments 😂
You guys hailed Caleb as a generational talent. Andrew Luck as a rookie had way less to work with and had bad coaching and carried his team to a winning record and to the playoffs. At some point you guys have to admit that you were wrong about Caleb.
to be fair, the Colts as an organization know how to develop and coach the QB position way better than the Bears do. No matter who the QB is or the coaching is in Chicago, or the offense is, it is still the same result year after year. One common denominator is the people up above who have been there all of these years.
Luck had Bruce Arians as his OC (then head coach). Caleb has Shane Waldron. Can’t compare the two situations.
@@aas55Yes you can. Bruce arians isn't better than Shane Waldron. If you watch the tape, it's clear that Caleb is the problem.
Remember when some of these top end picks wanted compensation in the form of team equity before playing a snap? This (along with many of examples) is why!
Caleb just not that guy that the media thought he would be.
Exactly lol they hate to face that truth tho
Yeah they really hyped him up for some reason.
Jayden is far better. Maye has potential to be too
It's been 9 games! Stop being so ignorant son
@ @ naw trust your eyes. He will be ok in the future but all that generational talent crap is BS. He hold the ball too long and overthrows his receivers. Maybe he should stop painting his nails and get better as a QB.
yo this show is so fire bro
I know it’s hyperbole but wouldn’t the superbowl they went to be the most important game they’ve played since the AFC champ game? Lmao
Yeah ur right but i think they meant it in sense that if you lose this game you’re out, like in the playoffs.. if you lose you’re out. Making a super-bowl appearance is already better than being eliminated in the playoff rounds

Lost any credibility he could’ve had with that boneheaded stunt
Thanks.
Greeny is right about the lame duck coach. Sean Payton may have given up on Russ too fast, but Bo going to play for a no-nonsense coach like him with an actual culture and history of winning, was so big for his career. Caleb was setup to fail this year no matter what.
Has great Rb and Wrs 🤣🤣 set up to fail? Stop being so ignorant son
Cincinnati will win this game
Richardson will play better
Caleb Williams needs to play through his struggles
How do you know Richardson will play better? He's shown you no signs he's even a starting QB in the NFL. He didn't show you anything in college. Yet he looked good in shorts at the combine and suddenly he's a starting QB in the NFL. Ok whatever.

Prsss Taylor destroyed the jaguars
How are the Bears doing the same thing with Williams as they allegedly did with Mitch and Justin? All we heard going into the season was how good of a situation Williams was going into with those WRs. Could the same thing be said about the situation Trubisky and Fields came into? The Bears are 4-5 with a Rookie QB. Some perspective has to enter the equation. Growing pains are to be expected.
Mitch at least went to the playoffs twice
Rookies are allowed to be benched. It's perfectly fine.
not when Tyson goes out and smashes then they have a big problem...
Caleb & Bryce was not built for this. Dan is the straight man with this group 👏🏽 👊🏽
8-9 has always been a threshold in weak divisions what are you talking about?
Seahawks once won their division at 7-9 what are you talking about
I said this when Williams was still in college that it a mistake to pick him first because he can’t see the field and his receivers, his understanding of where his receivers are and the fact that his not good at reading the defense makes him a bad first pick off of the draft and now what I have said is coming true because the bears want to bench him and I think it’s a good idea
Orlowski is wrong. This isn't rocket science and ex-QBs should know better. Williams is not a leader. You have adult men...whose next contract depends on how well a child performs...and you think they are going to support the immature child? Call it like it is. The Bears fucked up. Doubling down...tripling down...quadrupling down...will not magically make a player too immature to perform well...be less immature. Let him be a backup...and see if he becomes a leader
How is Williams set up to fail?????? He has the most talent as a 1# pick player, they brought in Allen, Swift, and the Defense is good. He’s just not good.
Allen swift and defence can't protect him

Why does an 0-16 QB who ran out the back of the end zone have a job as an ESPN analyst?
Because he knows the game and adds value ESPN isn’t cutting him a check for no reason
Because he understands the game, he just wasn’t apart a group that literally features the best footballers across the country. You realize making the nfl already means you are a top player. Just not as good as the rest of the best.

Benching can be a strategic coaching move to make sure the player "hears" what you want corrected.
Too bad Caleb can't sprain his ankle and HAVE to be benched for a few weeks.
I was waiting to see if they used bo nix as an example. Bo nix started off rocky but has gotten better each week. Everyone set such high standards on these number 1&2 draft picks like they're gonna come in and take over the game. Stop putting all this pressure on them and let them play it out.
Spot on,being a Bears fan is maddening!!!😡

Dang this is like a deep football talk with the boys
Bears will be Bears. But in all honesty, Dan is wrong on the part they were waiting for Caleb a year early. They were gifted that #1 pick. Bears management listens too much to ESPN and fans instead of just trading out of the #1 to get a QB you actually like that would fit their team, and then they don't even trade out of #9 and take a receiver they didn't need. Thats 2 1st round picks with no offensive lineman. Bears don't know how to be patient with QB's like the Packers, they don't know how to just draft the best lineman available like the Lions did with Penei Sewell. Caleb isn't built for Chicago, never was, his dad talks too much, Caleb only want's to play 1 way and his deep ball is horrible, and he misses easy throws. Dan is right, they are married to Caleb, and despite that he won't live up to it. They drafted a bust by media standards who had him as the next Mahomes.
