Of course he wasn't the problem but the money he would be owed next year with a new contract would have eaten a lot of the money we need to fix both the oline and dline. Also the ceiling for JF2 was 10-7 with a playoff loss. Ceiling for CW is much higher and if we are still garbage in his year 3 I will be calling for us to move on to a new QB again because it doesn't make since to pay QB1 money to a QB2.

    • @chive229

@Osmonic74 I never referenced the contract side. I'm speaking on his talent. Certain quarterbacks in the league are frowned upon if they dont do more with less even in their first year or two. And since you brought up the business side, that's their bad business practices because what happens if they win with a mediocre line and skill guys (And im sure they werent hoping to lose)? They would still be faced with the same financial woes... if not more due to Fields out playing his contract possibly (stats, wins etc;).

Nobody rooted more for Justin Fields when he was a Bear, but the fact is that he was awful in the clutch and more than often fumbled or threw the ball away when put in that position.
Caleb has plenty to clean-up and wasn’t great tonight against Seattle, but I do see flashes of elite play at times; along with throws that Justin Fields simply can’t make.
Enough of this moot argument. People are more than welcome to root for Fields next year, if he makes an NFL roster, playing somewhere next year for league minimum.

Caleb every game makes 3 to 5 types of throws that Justin Fields still has yet to make with any consistency. And don't tell me he has better weapons than Justin ever had. Have you seen Mooney play this year?? Mooney is finally being thrown open by a passer. Justin Fields had a great deep ball but couldn't layer his throws with a slow release.
