In 5 hours I saw 4 people! It's a terrific climb and certainly up there with Tryfan for me, short of attaching yourself to ropes! I don't pretend to be brilliant at these things but I think it's one of the best adventures you can have around here. Plus the solitude of the place is very moving. I hope I can show somewhere not many people go. Apologies for pronunciations again as I wasn’t aware of how to say certain words and places and frankly only filmed this for a few people I knew. So thanks for coming along! If you enjoyed this please try the mountain of Cnicht nearby. It’s fabulous!

A pleasure to come along Paul. I thunk you're a very helpful chap to have on the slopes - great step by step commentary. It's a tidy looking mountain and the views are almost alpine. Very enjoyable. Take care and all the best. Mark.

Thanks my friend. Great video. I did this today (21/7/19) as it was the only major summit in Wales I'd never climbed. Low cloud base obscured vis to approx. 50 meters at the top, so I appreciate the views you enjoyed !
Also a sound reminder than I'm losing my athletic abilities as my knees and lower back made for a tough descent. (I'm 63)
….Not unlike a car that still runs pretty well, but with no shock-absorbers !
    Enjoy your mountain-days !

Hi Paul I watched your video before doing this hike a couple of days ago. I can't thank you enough as this helped us enormously. You are right its not to be underestimated and there are a lot of scramble sections near the top. It was steeper and harder than I thought it would be from Beddgelert. The tip about following the lightly coloured stone was a life saver! The OS maps don't tell you these things. I loved the 'end of the world cliff face' and we only saw 2 people in 5 hours! Its a very Alpine feel with the forest leading onto the mountain. Weather was clear and we had great summit views. Thanks for sharing what an amazing hike! Adam

Adam Radford Thank you very much for those kind comments. It’s why I do these films. Happy hiking for the future bud. Paul

It's a very fine mountain. but I would suggest a circular walk. Hide the bike somewhere in the north Beddgelert Forest (eg 53.033734, -4.158900), return to Beddgelert and then have a long walk along the ridges to the north. Views are breathtaking, and the downhill "via ferrates" at the end can give you a lot of fun (quite steep, but safe)

Thanks for the film, Paul. My mate, Tom and I are aiming to do the walk this week. I got a tip off a local that there are Peregrine's and Merlin's up there, so fingers crossed, although I'll be keeping any actual locations secret! We're from Bootle/Liverpool, so we can't be that far away from your neck of the woods, by the sounds of it! Take care and thanks again (especially for the tips, which we'll be heeding.)
