That build world for a limber youth and it looks perfect for you. I confess I really liked the NV 200 with pop top. Vans are how I like to live. Cheers from the road.
If that were my build, I'd create a cabover and use it for storage. Depending upon how it was built, it could be made to be less of a windsail than what you currently have.
@@CMF_1 If it were aesthetic and at least somewhat aerodynamic, of course. the point is that is wasted space above the cab and the way the camper is now it's a massive windsail.
just realized that I've been following your journey for 4 years now, and we don't even know each other :-). Love the simplicity of your lifestyle, thanks for sharing.
Wrong so wrong. Camping is still mostly in tents and for tent campers there is tons of free camping. Goofballs in trucks living this "van life" isn't actually camping and with the impact these rigs have on the environment and resources they should have to pay. Reality is there is lots of free camping in New York all the way to Maine (state land very similar to BLM). It's just not all accessible with these giant home on wheels rigs which are largely stupid polluters and not actually camping.
I'm renting a Promaster campervan this fall for a trip through New England and I will be going to Bennington! Thanks for the sneak peek Nate! That just got me even more excited for my journey if that's even possible.
I am east and south and no problems. Love the National Forest, Good Rivers and Lakes for fishing and camping. Do not care for the east or north parts of usa. Wish you the best and keep up the good work.
I think that paying for a campsite is fine if the fee, facility is respectable. Yes, the reservation system can often be a PIA unless planned well in advance. Summer, most open campgrounds, are full Friday through Sunday. Being itinerant has blessings and requires compromise and adjustment. Arrange your travels accordingly.
You're truck should be getting 16 mpg on the low and 20 on the high, *with the 8.1L*. When you show clips of is starting, it starts slow (I'm not saying battery issue), the truck gets poor fuel mileage, overhead when hauling and its hot out *but it should have handled that no problem* and has one of the most unique chevy ticks I've heard when under normal operation. All of these behaviors leads me to believe there's something up with the engine timing. On older vehicles you can adjust engine timing on the fly. With a modern truck like yours the computer has a pre set rang "sea level" (a safe mode when engine light is on) and when the engine light is off, the computer uses all the sensors *if there not bad* for active data read back, it will automatically adapt to the climate around it for peak emissions from mountain to sea. What I'm saying is that your truck probably has one of the following bad sensors, cam position, crank position, or 1 of the 2 knock sensors. Some others that can contribute sometimes is, oil pressure, up stream or downstream o2 sensors or a clogged fuel filter / fuel pump slowly giving out. Sometimes a dirty mass air flow sensor or fuel pressure sensor. It should be easier to pin point the problem with a OBD2 reader and the info I gave you, you just have too look up the sensors intended value and compare it too what the scanner says. Or hopefully this comment makes it easier for you to go too a shop, now having an idea of the problems and remedies. Get back that mileage (especially wnen driving all the time) and tons of power, it will fell like a new truck!!!
Happy travels and be SAFE. O how I miss the days watching your ELEMENT VAN. Not sure I like the idea where you have to exit the truck to get into the Camper for Safety reasons leaves you vulnerable 💪😎💪
As a surfer, next time just stop off in the shore communities at the Jersey Shore. You can street park in many of them, grab some surf, some boardwalk tacos/pizza… it’s great.
That is a beautiful area of the country, I love the wild life and the beautiful trees. I noticed that the gate on your truck closes on the camper door. Can you drop the gate from inside the camper? I'd be paranoid that some joker would lock me in.
MY BROTHER, HOW DID YOU TRAVEL FROM UP NORTH ON EAST COAST AND NOT STOP OFF IN NEW.JERSEY DOR SOME OF THE BEST WAVES ON THE EAST COAST, THATS NOT COOL YOU MISSED OUT. I KNOW NEXT TIME LOL STAY SAFE GOD BLESS ✌️🌅🏄🏖️😎
I live in Boston and I have to go to RV parks because I have a class c hard to boondock that. The rv parks are always busy and crowded its sucks actually.
Was just thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you were. Nice to see this video pop up. So much beautiful green footage. Wishing you success on the shoot.✌️🤗
Aren't you worried about some goofball coming along and closing your tailgate with you inside? Also, diminished cell coverage in a National Forest is largely due to the fact that no cell towers are allowed in National Forests.
Try changing your PCV valve. If it's old, it contributes to oil consumption. I learned this tip from Scotty Kilmer. Changing the valve helped in my 98 Jeep Cherokee
I know someone who sets up a tent in the bed of his truck when he parks somewhere. Works great for him. A lot lighter and less expensive.
I watch too many these solo, travel-life videos but this is the first time I've seen some break up a day with a round of golf. Hilarious!
"Angel From Montgomery" is one of my absolute favorites...
Been watching you since the beginning, Nate. Loved the guitar playing!
Loved your song ❤
So great to see you living life on your own terms. Enjoying your adventures as much as when you started in your Honda Element. God Bless.
Looks like you created a neat, uncluttered, efficient travel/camping operation. Congrats
👋 Beautiful campground you found to stay. I also enjoyed the musical interlude with the drone footage. 😊👍 Safe travels, Nate.
Like the guitar playing and drone footage!
Good to see you again

Would you consider a roof box as an option to avoid the cab over build ?

Nice to hear you banging out some Prine!
It's a beautiful life.
WOW thanks for those majestic views. Very beautiful ❤️
Once you hit Maryland going north, the free camping is done. Pennsylvania made everything pay last year

The view from the top of the monument today was fantastic!
Lucas Oil Stabilizer added to your oil every time you change can help reduce oil consumption. It will also help decrease startup wear.
does that help on a 20 year old engine that leaks a bit of oil due to loose gaskets
@@StevenJeffrey-h2g its more of a viscosity agent it sticks to the metal better than oil itself
I live near Bennington, VT. Such a pretty area of the country ❤.
Great video safe travels looking forward to the next episode
I just bought a slide in camper today. Gotta fix er up before winter up in Northern Wisconsin
I recognize that Chevy knock on cold start up. Haha
Beautiful sites. Thanks for sharing!
Bennington, VT is one of my favorite places, especially in the fall. Great song, Nate!
Always bustin out the John Prine! Love it!!

You might ought to go down the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway.
You driving down the highway with all the green around you reminded me of Matt Damon driving off at the end of Goodwill Hunting!

Awesome video
Rock on brother🎸 living the dream
Hope you don't tangle with Debby remnants
Still here Nate even though the stupid notifications doesn't work.
Great drone footage.
Thanks for explaining I was wondering what the rush to get back to Florida was.
Sleeping in 78 percent humidity how in the world do you do it 😅
It's definitely more expensive to camp in the eastern half of the USA.
Great video! Just curious about something though, if somebody closed your tailgate while you were inside could you get out?
Nate did you stop in R.I. ? I know you surf in Little Compton. Im on the West bay sid3 in R.I. Good to see you on TH-cam again.
I spent a few days in RI! Actually scored a nice summer wind swell day with a friend of mine in LC :)
If you ever get to Dayton Ohio area I can show ya around.
Love your travel videos! What App do you use to find places like the one in Virginia? Ioverlander?
I want to build a camper just like yours! Any video that could help me? Thanks

What year model is your truck? I have a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado that looks kinda like yours. I'm thinking about building my own camper on it also.
Go for it! My truck is a 2001 2500hd with the 6.0
Think I recognize that PF in NC (if it was NC)
Don't know if you want to say, but where is the Virginia site? I live in VA and am always looking for nice spots like that.
What golf course was that?

Do you carry leveling blocks for the times where the site is less than level?
this case is not bad, but lack of glancing the interior configuration(sense of involvement).
Hey.😊
What happens when someone closes the tailgate with you in the box?
He has said before. He can reach out and unlock it.
@@slapstickdome9797yes many times he has explained.
Did you get rid of the rogue camper?.... If you already answered this in a video then please forgive me.
What will you do if somebody close the tailgate you will be trapped how you get out

Should someone close your tailgate while you're inside the camper, how can you get out? Thanks.
He's shown this and answered the question many times. You must be new here.
