Great update video. I can relate to the feeling of relief when selling something you're not using enough. I bought a funky little teardrop camper in May and used it twice before selling it last month. It was just too much of a hassle and was more than I needed. Having it in the driveway was weighing on me. I'd rather just sleep in my car. There's more freedom in that. Good to see you guys doing well!
I'm 60 and during my peak years, having more was the lifestyle. In the 80s there was a saying...he who dies with the most toys wins. How utterly stupid is that? I'm so glad I've lived long enough to get past that Era and embrace a more minimalist lifestyle.
@lifehunter6426 😂 we said that too, but it was always a joke. We have been purging and going more minimal, but still have a long way to go. It took realizing our children don't want to deal with our stuff when we leave this earth, to really get us moving forward to live with less. I have given away decorative pieces that have been here so long they just blended it and we stopped seeing them years ago. The nieces and nephews that got them were thrilled and happy to have them. Millennials prefer experiences to things, if only they had less anxiety about life...
Nate, this video and your message on minimalism are truly inspiring. I wholeheartedly share your sentiments. It's heartwarming to witness the beautiful life that you and Shannon are creating together. Seeing two extraordinary individuals like you come together brings immense joy.
Nate I've been watching you since the beginning of your youtube adventure and very happy for you. So excited for you to have Shannon to share the adventure of life with. Enjoyed and thanks!
EXCELLENT! CONGRATS ON THE NEW AND GOODBYE TO THE OLD FRIEND. Sometimes we hv to try before we know, and now u know ❤ I'm doing the same, in the "trying" stage at the moment living on the road in my minimalist small dry trk camper n small cargo. Sometimes it STILL feels like too much😢
Great surprise to see you pop up on here so soon. Some beautiful photography and night skies. Smart move letting go of things you aren't using, change through life is inevitable, we might as well embrace it. ✌️
Funny - TH-cam hides your videos a lot but this came up and I jumped on watching it - when my son came in to suggest we add a tiny house to our back yard. We only have half an acre, but there would be room for it with a yard and even a carport. Timing, eh? Congrats on selling the camper - may the new owner get lots of cool trips. Good to see you and Shannon again.
Thank you for sharing, Nate! You guys have been very busy! Life is all about taking chances. Sometimes you don’t know until you try! Amazing astrophotography!
Fantastic shot took my breath away….Nate you have always had that quiet calm presence all these years from the beginning. I lived your solo and now to have someone like minded to share life and adventure with is just amazing to see. Travel on safe happy lovingly minimally ❤❤❤❤
Nate, you’ve grown so immensely since I started watching you in 2015. Keep doing you and inspiring all of us to continue to chase our dreams and freedom. Thank you!
I make my astronomy/cockpit flashlights with a 3 volt LED and a normal flashlight. I have a Sky Watcher. Minimal. You hit the nail on the head. I'd want a Kurbmaster if i was up to heavy car camping. You need a barn. It would likely help to learn 12 volt DC solar, right, with all the appertinences.
Your life adventure is informative as well as entertaining 'Element Life' Nate & Shannon, So good to be able to do and see that in life is so surreal that taking that chance to see it all is just delightful and quite enthralling at the same time - so travel well and do it in safety. Cheers
Wow Nate you have made a lot of changes in a short time, can’t wait to see that new tiny house all done. Congratulations 👍🏻 Great video and some awesome pictures.
Agreed that selling the Camper was Best.... It's not what is needed at this time.... You're very comfortable in the back of the truck... & It gives you more parking options..... You & sometimes Shannon will enjoy it....
It's so tough to let go of things but you're inspiring me to do the same. Even if I just bought it with good intentions, even if I think it's going to come in handy "some day," even if I spent a lot on it... it's better it go to a home where it will get used instead of cluttering up my space. Looking forward to seeing what work you do on the home base!
Great video! Any tips on how to start living minimally? I wanna do it so next time I move I don’t have so much stuff, and maybe one day travel or live for a season in something like a truck camper.
Hi. One tip that I've heard from those wanting to adjust to tiny house living is to tape off a portion of your house (example 8'x16', 8x18, etc) and trying to live within that space. Try also to cook using minimal appliances, like a butane/ propane stove, instapot, etc (ask yourself if you really need a microwave, since it will consume power). I don't do vanlife but watch a lot of vanlife & tiny house vids. The apartment I live in is not much bigger than a tiny house, so I think I can adjust to tiny house living. Can't do vanlife yet because of job. You could do your trucklife & rent a storage space for your other stuff / ask to put it at a friend's place (if possible). Good luck in your future plans & happy Thanksgiving!
I was so excited when I found your channel. I've lived in Albuquerque NM my whole life, and based on the landscape of your property, I have a rough idea of what area you're living in. I'm not gonna disclose it here though so people don't go looking for your homestead. BUT the reason I got excited is because I've been wanting to move off grid in NM. May I ask how you found your land and how much it cost? I've tried finding a few acres in the area your in and I haven't found anything available. Also what permits if any, did you need before moving onto your property? Thanks! Btw, welcome to NM! It's nice seeing new people fall in love with the beauty of our state.
Hi Nate! Beautiful nebula from the desert sky✨ Wonderful video, I had to stop in and wish you guys a Happy New Year. Great new tiny home addition on the property. Hearing your ending words in your video gave me peace knowing that me and my daughter will do just fine moving from our home of 13 years in a little dust town of Arizona to our off grid parcel in the remote desert of Mohave County Arizona where we will take very little with us and start from scratch on a leap of faith 🏜️ Thank you Nate for sharing😊
Really enjoy your content. Always feels very real who you are. Would you possibly be able to share where you bought that tiny house. I decided to buy vs build and that unit looked perfect for what I need. Thanks and contiinued success.
great film! That was a huge snake! One tip: The new visitors to your channel will get a good connection if you put your faces front & center early in the vid.
No browns hat today? The truck camper is great as you get older. For stealthy not so much. Just about what you are looking for. The soft side is very loud in anything over 10 MPH winds and out west that can be a lot of the time. The truck camper shell is very nimble for sure.
So great to see you both again Shannon and Nate! Wow, what a busy time you've had! So looking forward to your tiny home 'village' 😊 comings and goings! Awesome choice! You can now relax, feel free to just pack up and go, as the feelings hit you. Love that you have had exciting times photog wise Nate. My eldest son has had an interest in everything 'space' since a very early age, traveling from NZ to the US for experiences within SpaceX these past months and has been following everything to do with that for years. My eldest brother held those same interests his whole life and I understand totally why. Changes are constant in our lives, some good, some not so much, but am thrilled for you both there, that you are happy with yours and all seems to be on your exact track. May it continue. Take care. From my bed in 'Charleigh, my Sprinter van, in little old New Zealand 💌 💌 🙋♀️🚐🌏
Liked your mini-house add-on. Do a video on It? I'm curious where you got it and general cost and such? I will be going off-grid close to Madrid area or just outside of Santa Fe. Good call on selling un-needed items that decay over time, we can all use more savings. Suggestion: I would acquire some precious metals with your available $$$ as we all know inflation eats your fiat based money and we are in the middle of a financial collapse! Yikes!
I wish I could find minimalistic content for parents. Having 2 kids recently and depending largely on pediatric faculty for information on how to keep my kids safe I realize things have gotten out of control as what should be recommendations is too strongly pushed upon parents. I am in the desert as well and was told my children need to sleep without blankets in temps of 68 to 75 degrees. My family is afraid to let them play outside since it’s rare to be cooler than 80 Fahrenheit and it is sad

You are wise
You guys made a great move! Less is ,for sure , a lot more! Thanks for sharing, and love the tiny home!!🤗🏠🏜
You should do a video on astrophotography and the equipment you use.
Wow Nate you have made a lot of changes in a short time, can’t wait to see that new tiny house all done. Congratulations 👍🏻 Great video and some awesome pictures.
Let's goooooo ✌️
The Nebula was breathtaking!
Great Video. I was scared you were going to completely give up van life for a sec! Was the right choice to sell. 👍
Congrats and great vid. Mind sharing the tiny home you added?

We’ll need a tour of the new home!
Hopefully once it's all moved into and organized! We did put a small Murphy bed in to help save space, it's pretty neat!

Bonco bench style seating is so uncomfortable in a tiny house, I had to replace mine.
beautiful astral photography . That equipment must be super expensive

Just used your surf shark code. I hope it helps.

What tripod/mount are you using for astro photography? How do you like it?
Dude…you are so lucky to have her…geez
Grrr that’s the one thing I don’t like living in the high desert- snakes. 😮
Where in CA is Hana from
Seal that bottom of tiny house, for snakes and mice
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

So when is next time….leaving TH-cam like all others?
