- The long box PlayStation buying continues, this time with even MORE pickups. Including a rare launch title for PS1 that is likely only going to keep going up in value. There's also a lot of new PS5 games in this one, thanks to a B2G1 from Target (although on further inspection there's some broken seals) and I got some Limited Run stuff too. I had the limited runs myself one time. Gross.

I love these game pickup videos and love to see people still collecting physical disc in the digital world
Physical forever!
I will always buy physical if it means getting a better deal, and also like having older gen stuff that companies tend to forget about over the years. Still do PS+ and Xbox Game Pass as money and time are limited and deals are sometimes (but rarely) better digitally vs physically.
I also enjoy watching those who collect build onto their collection and seeing games I've never heard of or mint games from 20+ years ago I remember playing back in the day.
@@tb1235 I used to buy a lot of stuff physically but I switched to digital library in like 2015. Purely because some games weren't available physically but after some time I noticed that the prices are quite lower than the prices stores offer (at least in my country). A lot of games drop like 10-ish bucks every 4-6 months but digital has a lot of good deals almost every week.
@@dootor-san yes, I never found myself buying disc games after ps4 because they were always available and deals come very often. The only time I would say it is worth buying disc is old games, but I never really buy those either. Now with the PS5 digital version I am now forced for digital. It's good tho.
Also, I never buy assassins creed games for full price. Ubisoft always got the deals coming.

You don't even need to do it with disks these days as most of em don't scratch. But if it's Wii 360 ps3 n before.... If they're sealed...they're scratched most likely
Don't know if somebody commented this already, but as a huge collector myself, those foam pieces in the long boxes are like gold! You use them to sandwich in between the disc and the instruction manuals to keep the disc in place. We all know what happens to the old PS1 and Sega Saturn games discs when they get loose. Those plastic teeth that hold them can possibly scratch the heck out of them if left unchecked. They can even sometimes crack the discs. I saw that one of your long boxes has the plastic indents on the left and right of the disc holder. Those are the best cases. You can put the foam in those plastic indents to hold it in place over the disc. Even back then, when the long boxes were being designed, they knew the discs could easily get loose. I wish they still used foam inserts like that in games today. Like in some of your PS5 games where the disc was loose. Sadly, though, game designers are always trying to find ways to cut costs, so they mostly stopped making the foam after the PS1 and Sega Saturn. In later years, they tried making some of the disc holders tighter, but trying to get the discs out were always a pain in the ass. The discs would bend and sometimes snap in half (happened to me once). With current cases, they make them much thinner to try to keep the discs in their holders. But that, as you've seen, doesn't work all the time. Thanks.
Not sure what it is about these videos that makes me love them so much. They are bad for my bank account tho since everytime I watch one I just wanna go to my nearest game store and expand my collection. That's not gonna stop me from always watching these.

Love these videos! I got the jewel case version of Kings Field from my local store a little over a year ago, glad I did.
I know you want your channel to be mainly about PlayStation platforms but I would love to see a video where you go through all the 3DS and Wii U eShop games that you bought or that you would recommend people to buy before they become abandonware when the stores are going to close, since you have a lot of knowledge about all the different games that exist. And I don't think people would mind the odd video every now and then about a different platform when there is an occasion like this that would warrant it. But only a suggestion of course. :)
A-Train! I love that series! I bought the PSone version day one along with the PlayStation mouse. It did not come with a Simcity disc, but it did come with a booster pack of SimCity trading cards from that card game advertised on that insert in the case.
I love these collection videos. I really wish more people did them. I just recently bought about 40-50 of the higher end vita games to knock off the list. I’m up to 90ish games and going for the whole set so it was nice to check those ones off. Spelunky being the most expensive that I bought
I know the lose disc is an annoyance it’s happened to me many a times but I’ve learned that either the disc holder is broken or it just came lose during the bumpy shipping trip and I don’t really worry about the disc anymore because it’s layered with a strong scratch resistant layer. Nice tip though with the flashlight.

In Europe we had double cases of PS1 games long boxes were never a thing over here.
There are a few other more or less odd variations though.
So no escaping the collector shelf disorder even in Europe. ;)

Fun fact, the original Kkng's Field was JP only. The two sequels are the ones we got on PS1 (our KF1 is KF2, our KF2 is KH3).

The other A-Train variant included a pack of SIM City Game Cards (per the game-rave site), and is even harder to come by! Crazy how much that game and all the longboxes have gone up in price.

Glad to finally see that someone got the complete-in-box version of Half-Life PS2. It's a great game! Especially with all the exclusives and features it has.
Man, I had a bunch of old Game Informer, Nintendo Power and Electronic Gaming Monthly magazines from when I was a kid in a box for so long. We were getting ready to move so I ended up tossing them all out and now I am kinda kicking myself for it.

The day I purchased my first PS2, all the way back in November 2021, I stopped at a game store on my way home from the FB Marketplace meetup location. There I discovered Half Life, sitting forlorn in a glass case. I bought it without a second thought, only to discover later its rarity and the wild story behind the development. So glad I picked it up! Now I can complete Half Life 1 before playing Half Life 2 from the Orange Box I've had, waiting to start the story from the beginning.

I wonder what I could have made on the old gaming magazines that I threw (literally into a donation bin) away about 5 years ago. I had more than a few Gamepro and EGM issues along with some old Game Informers from when the magazine was part of Funcoland's rewards program.
I've always wondered why some of my ps2 games had a blue disc. I always learn something cool on this channel.
There were 3 types of long boxes, the cardboard box (23:08), ridged box (18:47 / pretty rare) and jewel case (10:45 / similar to Saturn)

My first two games for PlayStation when it launched in the UK were Ridge Racer and Wipeout.I actually found the mirror track before magazines released the info on how to do it.Great channel pal.

Not a rare or expensive game but I literally found out yesterday that they re-released Fahrenheit on PS4, it's not a remaster, just a direct port with trophies but I had no idea!! Now I have a PS2 + PS4 version! Awesome video Mystic, loving the content!

King's Field FTW! North America has KF1 and KF2 which is actually Japan's KF2 and KF3. KF1 Japanese version never was released in North America.

Kingsfield is such an awesome game, I was lucky enough to get mine at a thrift store for only a dollar and it's the standard jewel case version which is even more rare than the long box version

Fantastic pickups Mystic, thanks for reminding me I still need to hunt down Half Life on PS2. Wish I got it earlier when it was decently priced. On another note, the first Ridge Racer was also released as a Greatest Hits version in a standard jewel case as well as a standard black label. The latter which is unfortunately extremely rare and expensive this day in age.
Kingfield 1 also released in a normal Jewel Case. Might be worth grabbing that too.

A-train didn't come with Sim City 2000 but it did come with some cards from the Sim City card game originally I THINK. At least mine did but that may be a coincidence. A-Train is one of my favorite city builder/Sim games. It's super fun but super complicated. The PS1 version is a bit dated but there's a version on PC called A-Train Classic that I love.

For the Legacy of Thieves collection, sure you only need one of the two games to get both digitally for $10, but you need to have each disc in the system to play the respective games.
Not sure if it was mentioned but the Wipeout disc is the Greatest Hits version
