    4:38 well its not a choke, its a fast iddle knob, you turn or pull that knob to increase the rpm on cold start, once the engine got to operating temperatures you can push or turn back the knob for the normal iddle, also fun fact, in Costa Rica we got the D21 with that TD27 N/A engine, my father's 1990 D21 was once own by the United States of America embassy in Costa Rica and man you can beat and beat those engines holy hell Nissan back in the day make some tough little engines

    I had this car to pull my horse trailer. In Germany, the car was called the Terrano 1. The next model was the Terrano 2. The funny thing was: The new model had the same rudimentary driving comfort. No comparison to today's SUVs. But it was a great time! Both models have rusted away from me. Thank you for this beautiful film to another time!

    When you say terrano at 0:10, you perfectly say Toronto the way a person from Toronto would say Toronto.

    Nice! There were some really neat Autech versions as well. This generation also was the Terrano in Europe.
    The things you mentioned: Don´t forget that this is still an 80s car. It was built from 1986-1995.

    I miss the trucks and SUVs of the 90s. Had one of these (US Pathfinder) and it was ahead of its time back in 87.

    I have a D21 pickup 4x2 with the TD27 NA engine (non turbo). Slow as a 🐌 but ultra reliable and easy to maintain. The engine is stupidly simple and runs like a Swiss watch. It has the sufficient power/torque ratio for a work truck.

    Great review I’m from New Zealand and we have heaps of terranos in all different configurations the factory td27 diesel engines are slower then slow however with increased fuel and boost and a few small supporting mods you can get decent power

    Damn I already love this Terrano more than the Hilux Surf!! Nah obviously I love both of them. These JDM SUVs are awesome!!

    OMG. That thing is gorgeous. So f'n cool. From a car lover at that. That gen of hardbody, pathy, terrano have always been my fave. The Toyotas get the love, but these were just as good, if not better in many ways.

    Those moonroof covers are next to impossible to find in the US for the USDM Pathfinders. They always got lost or broken. So it's rare to have that period.

  • @thirdpedalnirvana
    @thirdpedalnirvana 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    In 1992 USDM cars still used R-12. It wasn't until the mid-90's that it changed. Similar timing to OBD-2, I think OBD-2 came on to the scene a year or 2 after R-134a

    Road with 4 people in an Isuzu Rodeo from VA to Canada. The high rear floor board kept knee joints under stress and was like a torture rack. It’s best viewed as a 3-seater 2 front and a person can treat the rear seat like a couch.

    Good cars my dad bought the terrano 3 door td27 on the 90's an intercooler and a bit more Boost helps the lag of power

      That's sick! Just a question, was the td27 turbo engine relatively fuel efficient, did you need to stop at the gas station often?

    The choke is actually attached to the throttle cable.

      That is one of the things I miss about the Pathfinder. When they redesigned it to look like a bloated wagon/minivan in 2013 it lost that feature.

    It's not really a chock has nothing to do with flooding with fuel it just pulls the throttle cable to warm up without keeping foot on pedal.Big improvement put a V8 diesel air system with a snorkle the Nissan one was for to small for a turbo.

      Why?! It's a performance feature that makes an SUV more fun.

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni ปีที่แล้ว

      We've had a bad experience with ours (2003 Terrano), but it was more engine related than transmission related. I'm still.not a huge fan of manual transmissions in SUVs, especially if they're driven more on road, but I guess it's great to have one for offroading, so I can understand the appeal for them.

    Yo Zack. We need to have a quick chin wiggle. "Stereotypical" is not synonymous with "typical". "Stereotypical of (carmaker) in the (era)" makes no sense. Even just the word "stereotypical" isn't really a useful word, though it could be shorthand adjective to describe person who conforms to a stereotype. A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified impression of a particular type of person, especially relating to ethnicity, religious, or political affiliation. It does not usually apply to inanimate objects. If you only used the word occasionally, I'd not say anything, but this has become a staple of your videos and it's starting to bother me.
