  • Today, in Part 2, we will look at adding some more streaks, colours, and wet effects using additional oil paints and some glossy varnish.
    In last week's video -- Part 1 -- we looked at adding some initial mud spatter and texture using some acrylics and an oil paint.

    DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to promote any specific products or brands; I just use the products I find work best for me through my experiences. There is no reason for me to promote a bad product, as then I would not enjoy using it, not like the result on my model, and not be proud of publicizing it in a video. There's also no point in me doing this to keep up relations with a company if the only benefit would be getting more of the same products that I didn't like. I have not used every product out there, but from what I have used, I keep using the products I like, and that's why I use them in my videos. You can use whatever other products you would like to and you can feel that they are better - that is your opinion, and is perfectly fine by me, thus I hope that feeling is reciprocated.

      Panzermeister36 that’s great! It’s hard to keep up the pace of a video every week. I’m going to pull a Night Shift and do a 1/100 scale tank in my next video. I need a quick and fun little project to refresh myself as well.🙂👍🏼

    I REALLY LIKE what you do and it would be REALLY HELPFUL, for me anyways, if later you could do more in depth tutorial on Panzer Gray. I've watched A LOT of other people's techniques but, in my opinion, yours are FAR SUPERIOR. The oil based weathering and modulation looks MUCH MORE realistic and you are DEFENITELY the PANZERMIESTER 😁😁👍

    Glad you took my advice about using a smaller brush rather than slapping that silly oil pen brush straight onto your model, watching that in your other video really hurt me LOL. Keep up the good work, every time I see a new video from you your skills increase...…………………..amazing

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the oilbrusher built-in applicator is only really useful for getting the paint out of the tub and onto the palette so I can then use a smaller brush to apply it to the model.

      Thank you! I am not much of a fan of modern tanks as they are very sleek and sometimes boring-looking, but I do have an M3A3 Bradley to paint soon. I will do some videos on that :)

    Beautiful work. What do you think about semi-gloss for the grease areas? It usually does not look as wet as water so I suspect that might work. Maybe I am jumping the gun and will see that on the engine deck that you mentioned.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Geezer usually directly applying the X-22 or Wilder product I use here ends up getting a little more flat once it dries, so it ends up a little more semi-gloss. After 24hr or so it is less shiny, and I filmed this video right away so it was still wet and quite shiny. I'll point that out in the next video after it has dried.

  • @brucethemodelnoob

    Coming along really nicely! Where do you get the Wilder products?

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Bruce The Model Noob I don't think you can easily get them in Canada anymore. The only Canadian distributor was Hornet Hobbies. But you might be able to order them from the US easily...I haven't tried that yet though.

    Hey Evan, have ever used AK Terrains textured pastes? Are they a good substitute for the wilder's textured earths? I live far away from the west and getting my hands on the wilder products is out of question.

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes those AK paints should be a good substitute. They're acrylic texture products.

    I'm presently weathering Dragon's 9015 Pzkpfw. III Ausf. M, I tried creating wet effects using 3 different gloss varnishes (Modelmaster Acrylic, Testor's Enamel, and Liquidtex Acrylic) and none of them appeared that glossy when dry. Do you think its just the lighting you have it in? Or what are your thoughts?

    • @Panzermeister36
      @Panzermeister36  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have two possible ideas. One, is that these varnishes are simply not very glossy, and two is that they may have been absorbed by pigments and toned down. I have found that when I apply X-22 clear varnish over some areas of heavy powdered pigment, they can be really toned down and sort of absorbed by the pigments. In this case, I just apply more varnish over top once it has dried. That might actually work for both cases, so I would recommend trying another layer of it over the areas you previously applied the varnish.
      My result here is quite glossy, so it's not just the lighting. Another option is to try X-22 since I know that works.

    • @stevendrake347
      @stevendrake347 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thanks appreciate the thoughts. I actually applied it before the pigments in a couple instances so I'm assuming maybe x-22 the way to go. I did manage to get a similar effect that was quite glossy using MIg's Fresh Engine Oil that I had on hand by the way (only caveat is of course it has a tint to it, but it worked).. cheers!

    Love your work and everything you do. But are you able to do a video just using a paint brush. No air brush. Specifically three tone camo of a German tank. So that those of us who don't have air brushes have something to aim at. Right now we know we can't get to your air brush standard.
