I don’t see this as a negative video. I think it’s important to share info. You didn’t rant, you didn’t harsh on whole brands, you just said what didn’t work for you. There’s too little of this middle ground between toxic positivity/positivity so people keep getting PR and harsh ranting yelling negativity. Reasonable polite criticism is important.

Love a good "what not to buy" video. It's rough when you purchase a bunch of products thinking they're going to be great and they don't work for you.

I completely agree, using something around your mouth and then on your eyes is an open invitation for an eye infection. I can't believe companies are even allowed to promote a product that way. It seems like there would be a similar problem to pressed pigments vs eyeshadows.

For the NYX foundation, I have extremely dry skin so I use the elf sunscreen, and the elf powergrip or the NYX marshmallow primer and then I mix the foundation with my It cosmetics cc cream and it looks very smooth and not overly dry. I always need to prep my skin properly before any foundation. And I generally mix my cc cream with foundations to help get a thinner formula with better coverage and staying power.
I like the NYX Blur foundation with the NYX plump right back primer and ELF Halo Glow mixed in with the foundation. For reference I have normal skin.
I like that you say you really wanted to love some of these products. I’ve had some, too, that I just kept re-trying because I liked how they initially looked. Thank you for a great, honest review!
Also as clumsy as I am, I would avoid a glass tube mascara like the plague lol
That’s the same thing I was thinking! Who’s great idea was to put some that rolls around so easily in glass 🧐? That would roll right off my counter, onto the tile floor, and shatter the first time I use it.
I got the la girl liner at Ulta..it's best on a bare eye to me, making it work bc I am not close to an Ulta to return-- not the pop of color I had hoped for, but it will get the job done on a light makeup day..
I agree with you about the Nyx foundation. I first loved it so much but now I don’t know. Its one you have to watch what primer you use. I do have oily skin during warmer mths.
Sharing what you don't love is very helpful, don't see it as negative!
For me, I was a bit disappointed with the Revlon Colorstay for normal to oily skin. It is quite hard to blend out, although it does last very well. Just not the easiest to use. And I feel sad to say that I don't really love the Hella palette from Oden's eye, the collab with Angelica. I was so excited to get that one, but I rarely use it and I don't really love it. The shimmers swatch beautiful, but on the eyes they are not as impactful as I wanted, and the mattes are fine, but there's something about the shades that don't really go great with my skintone.
My worst fail ever was the Essence Hydro Hero. What a disaster that was. It was patchy, and wherever I put my sponge down, it would lift the product back up. Tossed that one after the first use, and I never do that.
Most def yes about newer mascaras being hard to take off! I usually always buy water proof cause my eyes water so much but these new ones are so much harder to take off even with 2 different kinds of cleaner
Use an oil based remover. Almay Long Wear and Waterproof Gentle Eye Makeup Remover on a cotton round works best for me. I've used it for years and love it.
It's so true! I don't remember this being the case in the past. It's nice that they have longevity but some of them are impossible to remove.
Nothing works better than vaseline for removing mascara.

I LOVE the wand of the Believe Beauty Lengthening mascara. I will apply my Essence Lash Princess mascara (I like this formula better) then go through my lashes with the BB wand! It basically works like a lash comb.I do have to wash it after using!
Those la girl liners were very disappointing. But recently I picked up the hard candy stroke of gorgeous liners, they have been working really well. I have three of them, and while they're not bulletproof they do stay all day and are a really good alternative.
Best line of the video “if you like heavy cakey makeup..but who wants that?” 😂😂 dying Girl you test ALOT of products. WAY more than any of us. This is not negative. This is informative. And the best thing is it starts a conversation here in the comments if someone really does like it and why?? So don’t sweat it , we certainly don’t take it as you ranting or anything. Also, you always say why and if you say it’s a bad formula and not just a preference thing then that holds weight for me personally.
I love the Tower28 lip liners. I have already repurchased the middle shade twice; it’s the only liner besides Lawless that looks good when I overline. I’ve not tried on my eyes because I wouldn’t wear those colors as eyeliners. For cheeks, color a small circle on the back of your hand, dab with a moisturizer or balm and then on your cheeks! I wouldn’t use over an actual blush at home but if it’s all I have in my bag I can totally refresh my face.
I tried the new Wet N Wild 5 - In 1 Essence Primer + Finish Powder and this worked really well. I would recommend using it before complexion products and then layer the foundation over it. It gives it the most full coverage look when you do it that way. The powder lasted on my skin all day long.
The Sydney Grace cream shadows make awesome liquid metallic liners if you use a liner brush with them! Also, I'm so happy you mentioned that kaja mascara! I tried it through the octoly campaign and hated it, but it seemed like nobody else was saying anything negative. It does make a great fidget toy, I guess.
I was thinking the same thing when u said u liked the formula of the Essence mascara to switch out the wands, but then I thought to u could buy the disposable wands from Amazon to try it that way if like the other wand doesn't fit the component. Products that are supposed to be for lips and cheeks usually work better as one or the other, but not both. OMG I have thar pacifica hair product in my Ulta cart, REMOVING NOW!!
That's a good idea! I actually have some disposable wands from back when I had eyelash extensions so I should use them for this now! Definitely agree with you on the lip/cheek products. I find they rarely work super well for both purposes. Ahhh I had high hopes for the hair product because it sounded so nice but it really did damage. 😭 Thank you so so much for taking the time to watch!
I came here to say this :) I bought a kit of 300 for maybe $12 on Amazon. I also stick them in my lash serum and use to coat my eyebrows and eyelashes without it dripping in my eyes.
And they are great when you need to comb out brows or lashes but don’t want to add any additional product.
I would Sharpen before using a multi liner for eyes- but agree that a pencil makes zero sense for cheeks!
You are so so so right. Every time I try a mascara I want to take my lash princess brush to it because that seems to be the main reason I only use lash princess is because the brush is perfect ❤

If anyone is looking for a good drugstore loose powder I definitely recommend the Rimmel stay matte loose powder, it’s translucent and not cakey and keeps you matte but not dry it’s 5 dollars on Amazon if you can’t find it at your local drugstore

It's absolutely important that we know what doesn't work or is poor value for money. I don't only buy what YT Content Creators recommend, I also buy other products that I've not heard anyone talk about.
Obviously, not all beauty products can be tried/tested by Content Creators (let alone reviewed and recorded) but, for those that have been tried/tested that don't get talked about on a vid, it's great to hear which were "fails" in a comprehensive vid .... like this one 😊👍👍👍

Shopmissa has so great metallic liner/shadows in a pot BUT the container sucks so they dry out quickly. They’re only $1 tho so I buy a couple at time.

The nyx blur foundation also didn’t work for me! I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t love it.
That NYX foundation didn't work for me either. The shade range is super weird and the formula was SO thick - I only used the tiniest drop and it was still too much for my face. And it just didn't look flattering. I have been loving the L'Oreal True Match Serum foundation so I'll just stick with that 😁 thanks for your honesty, that's what keeps us all coming back 💜
IF U haven't tried it, I LOVE the Hard Candy Sheer Envy Translucent Loose Powder!! I'm more of a combo/dry complexion FYI.
I have the unicorn glow dazzling liquid eyeliner in the shade forest and i like the formula! It’s opaque and metallic and I definitely think it pops. The brush itself is kinda crap but I think if you have your own separate detail brush that would probably work better. Sadly there’s only 3 shades but worth trying out if you want a colorful drugstore liquid liner option

I regret buying the Nyx Blur foundation. I was hoping it would be good and I tried it for about a week but I just can’t anymore.
I really love the essence cream blush stick. I struggle with cream blush but this one works for me. I use the Elf putty primer brush to apply it and it works perfect. Maybe give it one more try with the putty brush. Just a suggestion since you still own it.

Your description of problems with the LA Girl liner pen is exactly how I feel about the Colourpop eyeliner pen. It dries, skips, and barely comes out as a top eyeliner. :(
I haven't really bought many disappointing products. I think that's because of videos like this! I've been more disapointed with high end products especially because of the price. You pay so much you expect the performance. Drugstore has become very expensive as well. If I'm paying a lot , I want quality

I tried that Ilia sample lip oil too, it's just not good, It feels like a separated product. Like you said streaky, bad formulation.
I thought I was the only one having that issue with the NYX Bare with Me Blur. I’m oily and actually can’t wear a mattifying primer with it. I can only use a couple of primers with it, and I love it on those data, but it is so finicky.

I can't stand the nyx blur foundation &i have dry skin. This looks so cakey on the skin. Lately i been going with makeup that is only recommended for dry skin from sephora and so far I have been very satisfied. I still enjoy buying my colourpop makeup because those supershock blushes &eyeshadows are everything.

Hi, I was hoping you might try the maybelline dream matte mouse foundation. Its and oldie and known to be cakey but its from way back in the 90"s. Perhaps you could revisit it now that pot/balm foundations seem to be getting popular. It seems to be a totally different foundation than memeory when applied with modern techniques.
I tried this and used a damp sponge to apply it; I love it! I have normal to combo skin.

I want to like Pacifica as a brand but I tried one of their other mascaras which also wasn’t cheap and it did nothing for my lashes. Also used one of their eye creams and it irritated my skin. The packaging is pretty but I think I’m done trying them!
I'm trying to finish up the Covergirl Loose Powder this year, but I will not repurchase it when I'm done. It looks very cakey under my eyes and often oxidizes over my concealer. It's not translucent like it claims to be and it's super dry & heavy. :(

The reason the Nyx Blur foundation doesn't work with the Elf power grip primer is because the foundation is dimethicone based, and the Elf primer is water based. You have to pair like formulations or the results will be catastrophic. 😂😭

With the pencil blush product, maybe apply a good amount on the back of your hand and warm it up with your finger by swirling it on your hand. Then dab it on your cheeks with your fingers? IDK, that product just doesn't pull me in.
Oh that's a good idea! I think I'll have to try that since I do have them and I would love to be able to make them work in one way.
Not beating up on the band, but I've never purchased a single Pacifica product that was any good for me. I've completely stopped buying anything from the brand. I've heard they have some ok fragrances, but at this point I'm apprehensive to try them. 🤷♀️
I’m trying one of the new Pacifica hair leave-ins and I’m noticing it seems to leave a film on my hair too?! My hair is medium/coarse texture and wavy. So it tends to be dry, I just want something that isn’t heavy but detangles and protects (I blow dry my hair usually). :(

I get sucked in by Pacificas pretty packaging, but I rarely like their things. Their lotions, leave a weird greasy cast, their vitamin c, does nothing. I stopped getting that brand.
I feel like their marketing gets me for reason. Their products always sound like they are going to be so nice but I really haven't fallen in love with anything from the brand. It's good to hear from someone who has had a similar experience!
I am always in awe of their products but have never bought into the brand since there are other products I love for the same price point. It may be sad but I am proud of myself for not buying into the hype 😅😂
Girl, there is zero chance i'd pay $16 for a drugstore mascara. Hard pass. I actually really like several of the Pacifica fragrances but I've not been overly impressed with the makeup products I've tried. My hair hates anything with coconut. Dries out my hair too. I wonder what that's all about? I've never really researched why but there's something about coconut products that my hair doesn't like. I really appreciate these types of videos. It's beneficial to hear reviews, both good and bad. Even though i completely understand that everyone is different but the way you explain why a product didn't work is really helpful for our decision making 🙂
Coconut oil gives me the worst breakouts ever- deep painful red bumps that don’t come to a head -they feel and looks like a cross of a rash and pimples! 😂 coconut oil hair products gave me breakouts on my neck chest and under my chin! Took too long for me to discover the culprit! And so many ‘natural’ skin products -cosmetics have it! Coconut Byproducts seem alright so far.
@@hallievanoutryve3109 I've never been brave enough to try any coconut products on my face since I've seen what it does to my hair 🙂 I'll stick to drinking coconut water 🙂 i did find that my skin loves sweet almond oil. I don't normally use oil in my hair. I had nice results with argon oil and i would buy it again but it's a bit pricey. The beauty journey is so much trial and error and I'm on a fairly tight budget so when i find something that works i tend to stick with it.

The vitamin c cleaner and moisturizer work! But the serum isn’t great
ILia needs to fix their packaging/tube design. From their skin tint to the lip gloss. They all leak. They can easily ruin your makeup bag or purse. Its a pity. I like the skin tint a lot.
What was Tower 28 thinking?! 50‐80% of people get cold sores!
It seems like a poor marketing decision. It would have more sense to just release separate eyeliners and lip liners!

Right? This is such a good idea! I vaguely remember Buxom doing something like this bag in the day but honestly I feel like a brand like essence could benefit from this because they have so many different options. It would be nice to able to choose which wand you want with which formula.

And then you could release "new" wand styles and give them cutesy names and whatever like Angel or Mystic depending on the "shape". A def game changer. If any makeup companies hear this, hook me up

I purchased that same Covergirl powder and had such high hope, but I agree with everything you said about it! It initially looks very natural and smooth but just doesn't last through the day and ends up patchy (꒦_꒦)
