As always, excellent reaction. Some back story which I don’t believe I’ve given you: Raye was under contract with a record label for many, many years. She wrote songs for artists like Beyoncé, John Legend, Charlie xcx and David Guetta. Her label wouldn’t allow her to release an album of her own though, and they tightly controlled her artistic creativity. She made the call to leave her label and released her first album, ‘My 21st Century Blues’ independently. She has a song called ‘Hard Out Here’ which talks about dumping her label. Her album went on to win 6 Brit Awards (a record for any artist).. and she performed the entire album live at Royal Albert Hall. The entire thing is available as a separate audio album. Each song is performed in a different way to on the main album. Changes of genres.. all kinds of goodness. So often worth checking out both studio and multiple lives as they will all be a bit different. She’s also been nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy. Although she has less than 900k subscribers which is RIDICULOUS. Anyway, hope the back story helps!! ❤❤❤
You will soon understand that you cannot box RAYE into a certain type of music she does styles on top of styles and no performance is the same. Simply Phenomenal
Great reaction again! Rana already gave you all the info you need for a start. RAYE has no style or genre, she is the style and genre. Unique, extremely versatile, sophisticated vocals, incredible musicianship and writing, basically she can do whatever she wants and never misses to deliver, I've been following her for half a year now and am still discovering completely surprising great songs and performances, some recorded as much as eight years ago... Including the songs she wrote to feed other singers she must have written several hundreds during the last ten years... bottomless rabbithole, Escapism possible, but no real escape... Peace and love from BavaRAYEa!
For me, Raye is like the love child of Any Winehouse and Sarah Vaughn, 2 of the greatest singers of all time. Yet Raye manages to also be entirely original and modern. Her similarities to any other artist feel purely as inspiration because she’s so original too. She is my favorite artist right now. I’m so heartened that artists like her are out there blessing the world with their talents 💙
He is the one crying the tears. They were dating.. he drugged her drink and took advantage of her (described further in ‘Black Mascara’).. then cried some Oscar Winning Tears when she broke it off with him.

This is the most accurate description I’ve seen so far. Sarah Vaughn and Amy Winehouse.
Royal Albert Hall can accommodate nearly 6 thousand people if they use all the standing room.🥰
it looked like she had a packed house :)
He is the one crying the tears.
They were dating.. he drugged her drink and took advantage of her (described further in ‘Black Mascara’).. then cried some Oscar Winning Tears when she broke it off with him.
Definitely Amy Winehouse vibes at times!! Wait til you hear her song ‘Mary Jane’. That one really brings Amy out.
An EDM song on the album could be performed live as a jazz/blues song. ❤
