In the early Empire the 501st or at least many of them including Apo were rolled into the Shocktroopers for a little while, possibly to obscure the fact that Anakin was Vader. He only "Took control" of the 501st later.
Also Vader created a new legion with some 501st peeps and some other people as well and made the 1st legion. He made both the 501st and 1st all rounders rather than "let's do some war crimes to win the battle because we are too shit to win normally!" kind of legions

“No attempt made to arrest him”- I feel like everyone ignores that Fox told Fives to stand down, more than once, and instead Fives went for a blaster. I also feel like the “defend against the enemy not become the enemy” applies to all of the clones, not just Shock Troopers.
True, though I might say that normal police protocol in a situation involving hostages, like with Fives, is to negotiate for their release first and try to end things peacefully, not touch down and run straight in waving a gun and barking orders, that's going to result likely in the suspect panicking and someone getting killed, as we saw. Agreed "made no attempt to arrest" is the wrong wording, but the attempt that was made was a bit heavy handed and abrupt, deviating from what might be considered acceptable for police.
they are still clones, subtlety isnt exactly their strong suitand they rather go in gun blazing ,most of the time clones rather blasted CIS strongholds to dust than caring to check for civilians especially seperatist civilians and honestly they mawed them down like droids if it wasnt for the jedi and their morale bs that annoyed a lot of clones and got them killed because of this weakness
Fives only grabbed the weapon because FOX and HIS MEN charged at FIVES with their guns pointing at him first, instead of calmly approaching him, ofc anyone who sees troopers running at them w guns pointed at them without slowing down is going to want to defend themselves. @@asaschuemann9545 I suppose its because it began as a hunt rather than a hostage situation. Before Fox arrived, he didnt know Fives had Rex and Anakin captive. And even then, they were behind a ray shield which would mean Fives couldnt really harm them. Fox tried to give Fives a fair chance whilst having to obey the orders he had from the Supreme Chancellor. Add the fact he now had taken two War Heroes hostage, Fives was showing too many things to just arrest. Everyone forgets as well that Fives was also an ARC Trooper, had made an attempt on Palpatine and was a clone. He wouldnt be seen as anything more than a powerful droid
Bruh, Commander Foxe gave Fives several chances to surrender before he opened fire. He literally said "stand down" multiple times, told Fives to get on his knees, and said "don't do it, soldier" when he saw that Fives was about to reach for his weapons He didn't shoot until Fives was literally pointing a blaster at him.
Thorn was an idiot. If he wanted to get into the city maybe he could've given the city people a call, or asked padme to ask them. If he wanted to slow down the droids he could've had his corvette destroy the bombers and gunships, since corvettes are anti-fighter and probably would've destroyed the whole force, or enough for the gunships to survive the attack
I’m surprised this hasn’t been expanded on with imperial shock troopers. They’ve only really appeared in the first EA battlefront game as a customization option, but I’d be cool if they had some proper lore and use in Star Wars.
Clone Shocktroopers: Complete jokes and memes with few exceptions. Exceptions like Thire, Jek, Rys, Thorn, and Thorn's men. But in truth they are far more terrifying than what most people would believe, and far more of a threat too. Imperial Shocktroopers: Death incarnate. If you see them your dead regardless of which side you're on. Also is this a new voice? This is the first I've ever heard this guy's voice. Sounds nice, he does this job really well.

This guy was added as a substitute for the video on Karnas Mor in case Geetsly has something going on. They also did a video on the hippies of Tatooine.
Okay to be fair, Fives did try to reach for a blaster while Fox was telling him not to do it. Even though Fives would only stun, that's not something that Fox would've known, so he protected himself & his squad.
In response to Fives' death. Not all the blame can be put on Fox. Since Fives was drugged, and not thinking clearly as a result, he grabbed a pistol and pointed it at Fox. Given this, Fox shot to defend himself. Would Fives have actually shot Fox? I think he probably would. His judgment was impaired by whatever the Kaminoan scientist drugged with.
@Daniil Melnik I generally think of the idea that Palpatine ordered Fox to shoot fives dead. Shock Troopers and especially Fox don’t have the same kind of connection of brotherhood the others have. Only loyalty to the Republic and Palpatine. Fox isn’t above these kinds of order’s and the Coruscant Guard (which Fox leads) turned Coruscant into a proto police state the Empire would become. The Empire was already here and the galaxy didn’t see it. Fox could have used the stun option, the DC-15S and DC-15 which the Shock troopers were using during the confrontation had stun options and Fox never implied they were to be used on Fives, And they rushed a visibly distressed Five’s who isn’t thinking clearly at the moment so they’re surprised he drew a weapon, why? This is incompetence and bad police work if I ever saw it but what do you expect from the same commander who shot at Vader not a long later and got his neck snapped for it.
Fives only grabbed the weapon because FOX and HIS MEN charged at FIVES with their guns pointing at him first, instead of calmly approaching him,ofc anyone who sees troopers running at them w guns is going to want to defend themselves. So yes, Fox AND his men, are to blame for Fives death.
@Daniil Melnik I mean if he didn't comply what would happen then? He'd likely be executed himself, and regardless of if he was punished or not Fives would still be dead either way, whether it be from a gunshot or Fox stunning him and then a Kaminoan euthanizing him. People never really look at it from his point of view. Fives, a clone that Fox has never met and most likely never heard of until now, attacked the Chancellor, was reported to be mentally unstable and/or on some kind of drugs, and has now captured two high ranking officials. Plus before that he was already reportedly sticking his nose where he shouldn't be. All of that would easily be highly treasonous, which we've already seen would easily lead to execution. When you put that all together, along with the fact that he most definitely had orders to take him out from the Chancellor himself, then I don't see how it would seem wrong in his mind to take him down. It'd seem pretty reasonable even. There's also that lack of connection the CG had between them and the Jedi, so they didn't exactly have the same opportunity to have those personalities rub off on them, or the chance to learn something new from their experiences. Regardless of all of that he still gives Fives some sort of warning, and very clearly wasn't thrilled by having to do this, nor to see the outcome of his actions.
Though I understand exactly what you mean in that _Battlestar Galactica_ line, I would like to highlight the Importance of having MPs (Military Police) in the Military…
In the case of Fives, Commander Fox didn't really have a choice. He had a gun and appeared mentally unstable. It was him or Fox's troops and possibly the only hope of saving Anakin and Rex
The death of Fives being at the hands of a Shock Trooper probably sent waves through the ranks and further divided the Shock Troopers from the other frontline troopers
0:16 I know it's an expression in this case, but the iron fist of the republic is & always has been the 501st, it's literally their nickname. 501st Clone Legion/501st Stormtroopers aka Iron Fist/Skywalker's Fist/Republic's Fist/Empire's Fist/Vader's Fist. Because it was the largest Clone Legion & had the most elite troops both from the Stormtrooper recruits & Clone recruits because they were trained by literal child soldier space Jesus himself.
Funny thing about Shocktroopers in the original timeline: they were from a batch of clones from another company. They were grown faster, less intelligent, more obedient. Which is what Palps needed during Order 66.
From a military point of view it makes no sense to put shock troopers on guard duty on loyal civilian planets. But from a with point of view, having soldiers trained to act fast and take no prisoners makes a perfect terror police, crushing all decent quickly. I think that’s why in the new canon the Strom trooper shock troops use basically light machine guns and rocket propelled grenades. Not the biggest weapons but overkill for putting a riot down.
When Fives spoke to Palpatine you can see Shock troopers present. It always makes me wonder if they willingly betrayed Fives or if Palpatine used an unknown order for these specific clones.
I have experience with police and the army. I’m no soldier or cop but I saw how both operate. You don’t need to go to an academy to know the Police and Military don’t mix up well.
To be fair to these hated Clones; Coruscant Guard still had a lot of duties. Riot Control, searching for Insurgency on Coruscant, protecting Senators off world, and other Core Defense Contingencies. Coruscant Guard had a lot of responsibility. These guys pretty much served Palpatine directly, more so than any other unit for obvious reasons, and did what the Chancellor asked of them. Commander Fox himself was basically Palpatine's Right-Hand Man, as far as Coruscant military forces go. Clone Commanders and Captains don't just fall off trees, and Fox was chosen for such a position likely because, as Geetsly mentioned, he was simply good and what he did, and was a capable leader. He didn't deserve such an unceremonious death at the hands of Vader, you guys hate Commander Fox WAY too much, and I stand by that.
5:00 hold one second. whether you like it or not, fives held 2 generals and a captain hostage fox even ordered Fives to surrender, and Fives ignored this order, instead diving for his blaster in real life he would have been shot too by swat forces even non MP ones 7:37 I'm sorry WHAT?? as a CG member on superior server CWRP, we are taught to never kill a brother, civilian, Jedi or republic personnel without them being a danger to us, or others around us. we are taught to uphold the republic constitution and republic law, first and foremost. abuse of powers is seen as a serious violation and most likely will get you blacklisted from CG. yes we perform raids, and assist the Coruscant detention center, but we arrest only if we have proof of wrong doing, and only kill if we are under direct threat. and what you have to remember as well, IT IS WARTIME. real police have not been known to act too nicely in war themselves either. just google police WW2..

Can I just mention that we NEVER see "shock troopers" act as actual shock troopers on screen? In fact, we never even see them deployed to a battlefield... Calling them "Military Police", "Enforcers" , anything similar or just sticking with "Coruscant Guard" would have made so much more sense, but I guess George Lucas wanted them to tie into Stormtroopers (who fit their decription only slightly more) and WWII...
@@Kyzen_Wrell remember that Fives was also an ARC Trooper that had made an attempt on Palpatines life, was believed to be dangerous and now had two war heroes captive. Had Fives been a droid, we sadly wouldnt be as cross at Fox as we are now
The term shock trooper actually means trooper sent in first, like us army rangers. They're elite but not really specialized. Shock troopers being military police or security is very strange with this definition. As if they became the ss or protection squadron. The atmosphere of the coruscant guard seems retconned into deeming them as mindless brutes, instead of skilled counterstrike units and emergency protection to civilians ( in case of mass invasions). The whole police brutality idea with them is perplexing, and takes away the potential of them being shown as an honor guard before imperial transformation- deploying them as heavy support units in firefights across fronts against rebel threats.
Whether you like fox or not their were good shock troopers aside from thorn, and thire, who only did any wrong because of his inhibitor chip, their was also commander stone.
I love commander thorn and it was a shame that he died in action but, I have lots and lots of hatred for Commander Fox especially since he killed Fives, and for all you people saying I'm misunderstanding of him, try saying that after you've watched the show and seen the countless amount of times he has shown annoyance and hatred towards Ahsoka to the point he has tried to get her killed several times!!! So all in all it's a good think his life came to an end when Darth Vader force choked him....(Idk if he died in canon timelines Im just going off the comic books) Edit: I also just realized in the thumbnail that the trooper on the left isn't a galactic empire shock trooper I believe that is the flamethrower trooper from the Mandalorian.
Well, if there's one good thing that can be said about Shock Troopers, it's that they have one of the best armor patterns/color schemes from the prequels. I never really understood why the Shock Corp a.k.a. the Senate Guard was never used for actual shock tactics, but eh what're you gonna do
the other way around. clone shocktroopers and literally every clone were way more ruthless against rebels rather gunning them with a bunch of civilians too because a good seperatist scum is a dead one and clones and Imperials didnt seperate between them especially clones who finally got to blast the organic seps who hid behind the droids
Why? Why not droids gunning down clone ones? Plus imp ones were actually good at their job(s), they were more popular with citizens and were better at..... being shocktroops.
Shock troopers :"elite soldiers trained in stealth and the discretion neccessary to surprise" Also shock troopers: wear bright red highly visible armor

Legends Shocktroopers got to upgrade to the Shadows of the Empire Coruscant Guard in all red armor with the really cool X-visor. Though one illustration of them just... Forgets the forearm and elbow. There's an elbow PLATE but nothing in it, so it's not supposed to be an amputee.
"Why were Shock Troopers hated?"
"Idk! *glares at Fox* Why are you hated COMMANDER!"
And when vader kills him and most clones retire they immediately become popular and good at policing and shock trooping.....
I love how the shock troopers (reds) are close to Palpatine while the 501st (blues) are close to Anakin/Vader. And seeing Anakin acting hostile towards the shock troopers in The Clone Wars during the scene in the prison Ahsoka was held in.
Fox AND his men, are to blame for Fives death.
@@asaschuemann9545 idk I mean it falls back on dispatch somewhat
These shock troopers think they're the best. Only Thorn, Stone, Thire, Jek, Rys, and their men are the best.
RIP Thorn
Thorn was an idiot. If he wanted to get into the city maybe he could've given the city people a call, or asked padme to ask them. If he wanted to slow down the droids he could've had his corvette destroy the bombers and gunships, since corvettes are anti-fighter and probably would've destroyed the whole force, or enough for the gunships to survive the attack
I’m surprised this hasn’t been expanded on with imperial shock troopers. They’ve only really appeared in the first EA battlefront game as a customization option, but I’d be cool if they had some proper lore and use in Star Wars.
thats the point, they are the Miltary/Police loyal only to the Fuhrer, or at least thats what they were supposed to be.
Sorry for my older comment, I misread yours
Clone Shocktroopers: Complete jokes and memes with few exceptions. Exceptions like Thire, Jek, Rys, Thorn, and Thorn's men. But in truth they are far more terrifying than what most people would believe, and far more of a threat too.
Imperial Shocktroopers: Death incarnate. If you see them your dead regardless of which side you're on.

Okay to be fair, Fives did try to reach for a blaster while Fox was telling him not to do it. Even though Fives would only stun, that's not something that Fox would've known, so he protected himself & his squad.
"Shock troopers?! What's the Corusant Guard doing on my TH-cam feed?!"
-Hunter, Clone force 99
@Daniil Melnik it wasn't thorn it was thire

To be fair, Fives was about to pick up a pistol and open fire, and Fox also warned him not to do it.
The death of Fives being at the hands of a Shock Trooper probably sent waves through the ranks and further divided the Shock Troopers from the other frontline troopers
If the 501st was Vader's Fist, then the Shocktroopers were the Shield of Sidious.
Funny thing about Shocktroopers in the original timeline: they were from a batch of clones from another company. They were grown faster, less intelligent, more obedient. Which is what Palps needed during Order 66.
What’s funny is that the name “shock trooper” suggests they’d be the guys to drop in with a jetpack and shoot everything in sight
Well, this has the typical ignoring context regarding Fives' death, so I assume Geetsly wrote the script. Who is the new guy?
They had no jedi general and answered directly to Palpatine so it maybe the case of them receiving orders and marking Fives as a traitor
Here's what the Shock Troopers made me think of: They were somehow harder to get than regular clone troopers in Lego sets and I don't know why.
I have experience with police and the army. I’m no soldier or cop but I saw how both operate. You don’t need to go to an academy to know the Police and Military don’t mix up well.
They are kind of like the SS of the clone era.
To be fair to these hated Clones;
Coruscant Guard still had a lot of duties.
0:24 that was uncalled for
5:00 hold one second. whether you like it or not, fives held 2 generals and a captain hostage
fox even ordered Fives to surrender, and Fives ignored this order, instead diving for his blaster
in real life he would have been shot too by swat forces even non MP ones
7:37 I'm sorry WHAT?? as a CG member on superior server CWRP, we are taught to never kill a brother, civilian, Jedi or republic personnel without them being a danger to us, or others around us.
we are taught to uphold the republic constitution and republic law, first and foremost. abuse of powers is seen as a serious violation and most likely will get you blacklisted from CG.
yes we perform raids, and assist the Coruscant detention center, but we arrest only if we have proof of wrong doing, and only kill if we are under direct threat.
and what you have to remember as well, IT IS WARTIME. real police have not been known to act too nicely in war themselves either. just google police WW2..
Small correction: thire accompanied yoda to RUGOSA. Toydaria at that stage was still a neutral system and the king of toydaria, king kutunko, felt more comfortable holding the negotiations on a third party planet so that toydaria remained neutral if he decided to not join either side.

These are my favorite clone and storm troopers. Love the color red and always loved shock/ storm tactics.
Fox didn’t just flat out kill Fives lol, he held him up, fives grabbed a pistol and made some movements and fox shot him
Yet with a hostage situation protocol is to usual negotiate and end it peacefully. Even then, Fox had a stun setting he chose not to use.

So all in all it's a good think his life came to an end when Darth Vader force choked him....(Idk if he died in canon timelines Im just going off the comic books)

"The shocking true about shock troopers" I see what you did there mhmm.
Well, if there's one good thing that can be said about Shock Troopers, it's that they have one of the best armor patterns/color schemes from the prequels. I never really understood why the Shock Corp a.k.a. the Senate Guard was never used for actual shock tactics, but eh what're you gonna do
The Empire did. It also became better at policing and soldiering. Probably because Vader kills Fox early in the Empire

I think we need more content where Rebels get to gun down Imperial shock troopers.
the other way around. clone shocktroopers and literally every clone were way more ruthless against rebels rather gunning them with a bunch of civilians too because a good seperatist scum is a dead one and clones and Imperials didnt seperate between them especially clones who finally got to blast the organic seps who hid behind the droids
Why? Why not droids gunning down clone ones? Plus imp ones were actually good at their job(s), they were more popular with citizens and were better at..... being shocktroops.
