Can I just say that Stella’s voice from this dub is just so iconic and the most memorable, I don’t know why but it’s the only voice I really remember

I remember the 4kids dub. Man the difference is so strong that I outright nearly cried for some reason.
And I’ve seen characters who’s voices switched between Deep as the ocean bottom to soft as cotton candy.
Stella's voice just hit different.
Hey did anyone see how Flora and Helia relationship change? What I mean is Flora and Helia were a happy couple and tried to fix there relationship problems by talking to each other. However in the Nickelodeon later seasons added more needless drama. With not just them but most of the romantic relationships in winx club.

Exactly! They ruined everything in S5 with Krystal... ugh.
It's probably 'cause they thought Flora and Helia were "too boring" because they didn't face any needless tension. Personally, the Flora-Helia-Krystal tension _could_ have worked! It'd serve to highlight how, even with the man of her dreams, Flora still feels like she's not good enough and still looks down on herself despite all of her accomplishments up to that point. But instead they botch it up, along with really every other couple in S5 (Tecna and Timmy's weird reset, Bloom acting like a clingy girlfriend to Sky when he's reasonably busy, etc).
@@tama3162 Yeah I mean there was romantic drama in the show but what I liked about the writing is that the characters learned and grew from the experience. Love is a hard thing to write but I would have liked the scenario of Flora not viewing herself as worthy to be eith Helia because its a conflict that can't be solved with a punch or a magic blast and can teach kids that talking about your issues with relationships is the way to go.
@@cardcaptor1792 Yeah! That's why I'm disappointed that that romantic subplot went nowhere and was "solved" with a dance. It'd make for a nice S4 tie-in too since Helia was openly encouraging Flora _and_ Flora was shown being more openly confident in her abilities. Her being scared of Krystal could show that she's still struggling with building and keeping up her self-confidence, even when she knows Helia's been helping her with it (and may even feel worse because she still feels bad about it).
Love _is_ a hard thing to write but it feels like Nick just dropped the ball on every romantic subplot they put in Season 5.
Musa and Riven got so stable and perfect in Season 5, then they murdered it in Season 6 for no apparent reason than Riven just receiving a reset in his character development
Aisha had her best voice in Rai English, her first voice actor. I love how it was super soft, a great contrast to her tomboy personality. I wish there were more female characters like that - soft voices, pretty faces, but tough demeanor.

Mad respect to the voice actors because voice acting deserves more credit than it deserves.
Side note: the French dub made by Dubbing Brothers is a MASTERPIECE. Belgium and France are known for their incredibly talented voice actors, and you can tell that just by watching Winx Club in French.
And Dubbing Brothers are also the ones responsible for the recent English redub of the Rebuild of Evangelion movies on Amazon Prime.
I grew up with the French dub and it’s amazing. The dialogue in the first season is a bit difficult to hear and I don’t like Bloom’s voice but other than that it’s great and it’s always been my favourite.
Ok seriously on a real note, I wish the series ended after the first movie! Though a plus, we didn't really need a fourth season. I love the fourth season, but the series could've ended perfectly with the first movie and I would've been perfectly fine with that. In addition, I wish the second movie never happened. Either they should've replaced Believix with Enchantix to fit the continuity or just didn't bother making the movie at all.

I think the fourth season, if I recall, was something they did on fan demand and because season 3 proved to be as popular as it was. If you look closely at the ending of season 4, you will see the girls over Gardenia - when they fly towards the camera, they are in Believix. Then, the camera pans over the city for a moment and when it's back on the girls, they are in Enchantix instead, flying into the sunset. So yes, Believix was supposed to be the last formed that unlocked many other transformations that were typical or to be used on certain planets and in certain places ONLY, but then they would always revert back to Enchantix. But yeah, we all know how that turned out, they just abandoned that idea for some reason until they got back at it in season 8 when it became canon that the Winx can always go back to whichever form they need in a said situation. But everything that happened AFTER season 4 was because Winx Club became Rainbow's main cash cow, that is why the quality dropped so much.
@@Erika-xm2mi It was made by fan demand (I should know I was one of the many who demanded it lol)! It's just in retrospect, new Winx content beyond season 3 and the first movie just seemed unnecessary cuz everything wrapped up so nicely with the first movie that there wasn't a huge need to continue the story. Don't get me wrong I love season four I think it's great but in the end we didn't need it. Or after season four, we could've gotten a different second movie that actually starred Roxy, didn't have any weird plot holes, and wrapped up things entirely so we wouldn't need anything more beyond it but of course Nick got its hands on the franchise and completely disrupted the continuity with season five. Oh well, it is what it is at least we still have those amazing first four seasons!
I know this comment is a year old but I'm replying anyway. I know they didn't need to make more beyond S 1-3 and the 1st movie,but the way they did S4 was IMO,the best way they could've continued the series with the Winx Club as the MCs. By focusing on maintaining the continuity and on storylines that deal with the girls dealing with new challenges as young adults and as Guardian Fairies of their own planets,it gave S4 it's own identity. Even if S4 wasn't all perfect.
I honestly feel like S4 left the series a lot of future opportunities because of that and magic coming back to Earth. If they had focused on those two things in the future seasons of WC,it wouldn't been so bad as the series wouldn't have been letting these characters be stuck in a status quo,but stlll growing as characters. And hell,you could do what Teen Titans did and just have the overarching story focus on the other girls aside from Bloom or just do what S2 did and have mainly character-focused stories again,just with the new context of them being in young adult hood.
Although I agree the whole 'magic coming back to Earth' plot point definitely should've been left for a Roxy-centric spinoff.(Seriously Rainbow,the potential interesting side characters or worldbuilding you have for spinoff shows is criminally underutilized)Unfortunately,Nick came along and not only drastically changed the tone,but also screwed up the continuity of the series.

I loved how Francine and Arthur's voice actors play two characters that date. It reminds me of American Dragon. Jake and his love interest (forgot her name, I haven't watched the show in a LONG time) are played by Katara and Zuko from ATLA.

Rai English aka Cinelume is overhated IMO. Bloom 1-3 was probably the least good actress but at least she didn't sound like pop cheerleader-ish like S7-8, and she had this insecure part in her voice unlike Nick. Her acting wasn't the best, but her voice itself fit her character mostly after 4Kids. They all improved as the series progressed, and this voice cast is basically part of the golden era, along with the old writing quality and everything else. :)
I personally liked the RAI dubbed, but because I watched it when I was younger. xd I do love the Nick voices! They truly fit the characters really well!
It's so much better than the 4kids one tbh. I don't know why people think it's that great, the strength of Winx Club is that it has fun and playful moments mixed with serious ones which makes the series enjoyable for both kids and teens, Rai had an OST that perfectly captured the emotions of each scene and sounded so original compared to the rest.
4kids basically just threw all of this out of the window, the dialogue was cheesy as hell, way too americanized and all over the place, some scenes don't need dialogue to sound emotional which is what 4kids didn't undetstand, the censorship was ridiculously dumb and cut off good character development (they even censored a swimsuit lmao) and the OST was just plain.

Heya Im a singaporeon who watched the Rai version. I never knew there was a different version until the internet. I always knew Aisha as Layla and honestly I loved the show as a whole

I grew up with Cinelume, it will always have a special place in my heart.
And it by far has the best transformation songs and opening and closing songs. Well I guess that's because they were the english version of the original Italian songs
I grew up watching winx club in spanish were I used to live since I'm cuban, so you can already guess that I grew up watching it the way it originally is without no changes. Then when I first moved here I found te cinelume dub on Netflix, and was the first english I that watched it for a long while, and thinking that was the only english version. Didn't find out about the others until a bit after I descivered its originally italian. So you could I also grew up knowing winx club with cinelume version, for in my other country in the different lenguage, and for watching it as english the first time.
You know, although credits say it's the same voice actress, Flora actually sounds much different in Season 1. Also, the best Cinelume voice actress for Musa was the one that only voiced her in episodes 2, 3, 5 and 6 IMO.
Its the fact that Cinelume got to dub Maggie and Bianca fashion friends (another show of Rainbow) but not season 7+ of Winx for me 😭😭
Oh, this is certainly the golden era of Winx Club. I used to remember it was really everywhere in merchandise, a lot more than today in fact. It used to be a really respected franchise for its story. I really do miss the glory of this dub, and it's really amazing they're extremely available to watch here on TH-cam, especially there was a time before where they were copyrighted and stricken down.

I’ll have to rewatch Magical Adventure sometime with the mindset that Believix is supposed to be Enchantix. I love Believix but it’s interesting to think about.
It's because Magical Adventure was written right after the first movie, at the same time as Season 4. The biggest time line issue this caused is Nabu not being dead in the second movie whereas the second movie is actually supposed to take place after season 4 according to Rainbow. Since the movie premiered after season 4, I understand why they ended up using Believix instead of Enchantix, but it would've made more sense storywise to use Enchantix.
I can rewatch episode 1 of Winx Club Season 1 Cinelume anytime and immediately get hooked back into the series. Thank TH-cam for easy access to these episodes.

I love Angela Galuppo so much because her mature Bloom tone fit Season 4 so perfectly. The Cinélume dub isn't my personal cup of tea for Seasons 1 and 2, but I will admit that the existence of a proper translation from the original Italian series is amazing as it rarely happens with some shows.
Also, I can't be the only one who thinks Flora had a different voice actress in S1 than she did in S2-4. I really feel like they either made a mistake in the credits, OR Holly's just super good at changing her voice around XD

To me Molly Quinn is the best Bloom we've had so far. She's has a sweetness to her voice as well as the fierceness that suits Bloom very well. I truly miss her in the role,and while the 4kids dub had many changes I love Lisa Ortiz as Musa,I think she nailed the attitude. Stella I really liked her duart voice and her 4kids va. For Flora I think 4kids nailed her voice as well cause the soft kind voice really suits her. Tecna I don't really have a favorite voice,Aisha I'd say Keke Palmer pulled off the role well.

To me it kinda seems like these dubs are fractured. 4kids and Nick has voices and vocal direction, mostly, while Cinelume, and the partially Dubbing brothers, had faithfulness to the original story. If we could somehow gather up the voice actress from 4kids, Nick and Cinelume and then try one more go to dub the series with it's original story I think we'd have a quality product. But as the reality stands it just feels that the many dubs have their strong points and glaring weakness.

I'm from Brazil and the Brazilian dub (s1-3) is based on Cinelume one. I don't know about s4 and the first movie because I'm about to watch them. Recently I watched the first two episodes of 4kids version and was shocked by the changes on the script.

Actually, RAI isn't the abbreviation for Rainbow. RAI is the name of the italian broadcasting service (like BBC in england)

Especially if they have to add CGI with wings or might have to float in air while casting spells instead of flying. I actually kind of doubt about this and don't like how this is going. Live action? If the Cinelume dub was in fact the second English dub and made because of Singapore, then I wonder how Rainbow and Cartoon Family got involved in the production of the songs (as the Italian and Cinelume songs were done by the same studio), and how Rainbow decided to make the Cinelume dub the base for all European dubs.
In Bulgaria the dub for season 1-4 is translated after Cinelume ,and for some strange reason in half of the season 5 they changed Layla to Aisha,also in the nick dub Aisha is again called Layla
I actually discovered Winx Club through the 4kids dub while I was visiting family in the US, but then watched more episodes of the Cinelume/RAI English dub when it aired in my country some time later.

I honestly grew up with the Cinalume dub and never knew about the 4kids one so when I heard high pitched Stella and british Techna and.... whatever Musa's voice was, I was honestly shocked
But for some reason I always remembered "layla" as Aisha despite only watching seasons 1-3 seasons of Winx when I was younger
I actually have the entirety of Season 1 of the Cinelume/Rai English dub on DVD. I got copies of both of the individual volumes from a Dollar Tree (which by the way, is one of those dollar [my country's currency] store chains that have been sorta inexplicably very successful in my country [the US] for years now) out of all places.
In my opinion, Rai was the best because I grew up with it. I even bought all their dvds of season 1-3. I was surprised when nickelodeon called Layla, Aisha. I remember watching Pop Pixie!

Actually the Cinélume dub was produced as a template dub for other countries to translate from. It is not a dub made especially for a Singapore or an asian audience. For example the Swedish dub for which I grew up with CLEARLY translates from that version. And a theatrical release of at least the first movie was done in several places in Europe, Italy and Sweden being two examples.

i’m probably biased because it was my introduction to the series, but the cinelume voices in the first two seasons (especially bloom and stella but really all of them) will always be the definitive voices for the characters to me

I legit wasn't aware of the RAI dub before I watched your videos. I had grown up with the German version of Winx, which was good, and when I checked the English episodes I ran into the 4Kids dub and was instantly disappointed. Now I can actually take a trip down nostalgia lane without cringing at outdated slang! Thanks, Thomas!
In my opinion if you want to watch the series, I recommend going everything till the second movie (including that as well), Pop Pixie (tbh, its actually quite enjoyable ,except if you hated the pixie initially) and WoW. All other things can just be ignored.

Have you heard about the live action version for Winx Club that is still in production?? It’s a Netflix original and it’s targeted to young adults. So the storyline is going to be a lot darker and more action packed! I think it’s amazing that Rainbow is finally starting to bounce back from the 4Kids and Nickelodeon deals! CaN YOu PLeAse Do A vIdEo AbOut ThIs?!
Honestly, I’m a little upset too but the truth is that all the fans will be mad for a while and then when it comes out everyone is going to love it. I just would rather be positive and keep an open mind. Just because it’s different doesn’t mean it’s not good. Plus we still have the original series. It’s not going away but we are getting another spin off like World of Winx or something. Just keep an open mind you know.

Dubbing brothers actually made a lot of changes to the 3rd movie. I compared the summary from the English and Italian YT channels and noted DB treated the movies similar to 4kids.
One example (from memory)
Stella makes some comment about how they have to save the universe

Actually I believe the first or/and second Winx club films where released theatrically in Italy,France,Germany,Turkey,Portugal, Belgium,Spain... (the rest are on IMDB).
The first movie grossed around 16million (us) dollars, the second one grossed around 11million dollars. The third one was released theatrically in around 5 countries only and grossed 5million.
It's funny how the vocals for the first Season of the Cinelume dub were done by someone who is still clearly Italian.

I grew up with the dutch dub, which was inspired by the german dub (as many dubs were taken over from germany) ironically these dubs were also very true to the italian version. So I grew up with the original music
The Brazilian Dub is wonderful and it's the only one that keeps the same voice actors for the past 15 years, no changes.
Just for Riven for some reason, but the main girls all the same actresses.
Including the movies.
Here Aisha is also Layla, but everything remains the same as the Italian original. (I'm really happy that my country didn't use the 4kids version to dub).

The voice for Icy, in my opinion, is one of the bests for her.
Actually, all the voices are perfectly cast in the Brazilian Dub for all the characters.

The transition of Stella's voice from season 4 to 5 was quite jarring
When I was little I watched the cinelume version on Netflix for the short time it was there, when I watched your first video saying that the 4 kids one was the main American one I thought that’s the one I had watched but wasn’t sure, due to some of the differences. When listening to the main cast for voice actors (and when you said the cinelume version was on Netflix for a short period of time) I realized I had watched the cinelume version

To be clear--the series was actually animated BASED on the English vocal track from the Cinelume version. It was created in 2003--a year before Winx ever hit television. The Italian version is technically the dub--even if it's the origin country of the show.
This is the first time I've ever heard it, I mean a few things about it would make sense considering the lack of the Stella transformation song in the Italian dub, where did you hear this from?

Yes it is true. It's industry knowledge--the same goes for shows like LoliRock and Miraculous. They're animated based on an English vocal track regardless of the origin language because it's the easiest language to translate--and it makes it so the script can be modified to match the mouths better for other regions.
Winx Club was dubbed at Atlantic Oceanic for Seasons 5-6--season 5 was animated based on the English "original recordings" done by the Nickelodeon cast, and Season 6 was done by a placeholder cast and then REDUBBED by the Nick cast.
Look up "Miraculous Placeholder Dub" if you need an example of this.

yeah i'm so glad I grew up with the dutch winx club, the dutch winx club never changed their voices or whatsoever and they suit the characters so well too! Too bad they made a mess of winx in general
The problem with some of the voices is that they don't seem to adapt their voices for the roles. Like Jodie, who just sounds like Francine. I don't think any of the other voices are good either.

I'm happy than in the french version, We Always have the same voice actor from Season 1 to World of Winx. It help a lot when the design is not the same! We just don't have the same main singer that we had from Season 1 to Season 5. Her voice was really linked to Winx universe
But I hate that we still don't have a french version of Season 8 😑😑😑
This was the Winx Club dub I grew up with. The first time I heard of the 4Kids dub is from the video games hehe
i grew up listening to the RAI/cinélume dub so im obviously biased. Stella was just SO iconic and she's my all-time favorite voice in Winx. Her voice from s4+ was really irratating for me because it made her seem more annoying. I loved Flora's season 3/2(?) voice, season 1 was good too but i liked how her voice wasn't high pitched in 3 and was rich and wholesome(?). I think Bloom's voice from s1-4 showed how she matured, her new voice in s4 made her look like an adult more and showed her growth. also the specialist voices were just 🤌. especially brandon, sky and riven's in my opinion
I distinctly remember seeing the scene between Hagen and Riven which upon recent rewatch in English was missing. Then I remembered that I watched the movie with Bulgarian dub when I was little which did not edit or cut the movie in any way. Shame cause this scene really sets up Riven's struggle throughout the story. No real reason to cut it.

Yeah it's gonna suck ass. Winx club as it is is already a train wreck and they think putting it in live action will pull in the same, if not more, ratings as it's animated counterpart?
Terribly designed outfits that look good on cartoon but awful on a real person, terrible special effects , dialogue that's corny even in the cartoon being ten times more corny actually being seen coming from a real person with no illusion of animation.
Seeing real people that don't look like the characters because the characters are unrealistically stylized so it would be impossible to find a real life match.
So on and so on.

My personal headcanon for Magical Adventure (and have always thought of it as such) is that it happens sometime during season 4 before Nabu died but after they receive their Believix powers. But now, it doesn't make much sense.

Your videos are great, however it confuses me that in several videos you've said that the RAI dubs have come better known in recent years thanks to the internet. Internet was pretty readily available by the time Winx aired, it has come a long way surely, but it was never that hard to find out about these dubs. In fact I found out about Winx Club on the internet before season 2 aired.
I think she was basically saying due to TH-cam, yes the internet was well known, but the youtube and video didn't start coming to light until around 2010 onward. I didn't know about the RAI English version until short awhile ago.
@@tswdslayer2 I don't know. I joined TH-cam in 2007 and there were already plenty of Winx Club videos being made. Granted, most were fan made music videos. The oldest dub comparison I could find doing a really quick search was 8 years ago, but TH-cam has removed a lot of old content, including my previous channel. I'm pretty sure dub comparisons were already a thing when I joined YT.
@@HaldjasHelina Yes, although in 2007 the show was brand new and near 4kids ending cycle, TH-cam had copyrights back then, the ones I'm watching were in 2013 onward and full episode not clips. I remember when I couldn't even see season 5 and 6 in full episodes. And trying to find Secret of Lost Kingdom in English.
Fun fact! Sweden adapted the cinelume dub, and dubbed it into Swedish. So most who watched the wind saga here only know that version until Nickelodeon snatched it
I’m sorry I have to stop you at RAI is short for Rainbow. It’s actually a tv channel in Italy called RAI Italia and it was a channel that was founded by the Italian government. But I do see how some assume it is short for Rainbow.

6:20 Musa sounds more like Aelita from Code Lyoko here. Also, honestly, this Cinelume dub kinda does nothing for me. I'm more used to the more lively 4Kids dub actually giving unique voices to the characters instead of the approach of trying to sound more realistic...to a fantasy series, so they all sorta sound too samey, which is a problem in the current dub for World Of Winx. They all just sound...so generic now, it's kinda frustrating.

4kids didn't make them sound more original, it stereotyped them. And the whole "they sound more unique" argument has no base as it's entirely subjective.
@@MP_Guz Yeah, they're stereotyped, but similar shows like Totally Spies and Code Lyoko had stereotype characters and no one complained. Stereotypes aren't always bad as long as they're also carefully written.
@@mesousagaby740 stereotypes are bad because they show how unoriginal certain characters are portraited like how everyone bragged about Rai aisha sounding white when her va was black, but people were so used to hear black characters with certain tones and accents that they automatically dissociate different voices with said characters, Winx always broke the stereotypes while 4kids just reinforced them, not to mention that the 4kids script is pretty bad too so I can't even say they were properly written.
The shows you mentioned have stereotypes and they aren't good either, especially Mandy in Totally spies
I just started rewatching the Winx Club the original English dub version that we all grew up with I was watching the third episode in Miss faraganda mentioned about when she first met her husband I didn't realize she had a husband???? until I just started rewatching season 1 it was the third episode when she mentioned about meeting her husband?
I thought it was called the RAI English dub because Winx Club airs on Italian Chanel Rai Due in Italy

I grew up with 4kids and teckna sounding british suited but I can easily get into cinelume for following the story.
In my opinion, it’s much better to watch the Italian or Dutch dub. The English dub is so complicated, Italian and Dutch dub have professional VA and they stay the same over the series. Italian and Dutch dub also have a theater show, were we get an explanation why the Charmix isn’t used after S2 and how the Trix get to the Omega Dimension in S3.

I had like a pretty funny experience with the dub of this show. I´m from Mexico and I grew up watching the Latinamerican dub, which is faithful to the original Italian one. But since my city is in the border next to USA, I could also watch the 4kids dub that was on Fox Box. I remember being super confused with the two versions, and sometimes I believed I was watching two different cartoons.

I grew up with the Dutch version and its still my favourite haha. Most voices never changed only techna's and icy's. Every other voice troughout all the seasons stay the same.
Icy from S1 and S2 will always be my favorite.

I like all 3 versions of winx but i will be most loyal to 4kids because of the voices.
I like the storyline of all three but having grown up with 4kids, their voices will always be better, plus they have more emotion
