When I was young, I absolutely did not understand Aisha’s powers at all. She was called The Fairy of Waves yet she rarely ever used waves or water based magic lmao
@@calicomarker actually she was the fairy of fluid based on the italian version, but when the english dub came out they don't think fluid is a good choice of word that kids could understand so they made her a fairy of waves instead cause her home planet is surrounded by water

@Will N I agree. I mean, she would have figured it out in the first episode anyways. Seriously, she found out that she is a fairy but her parents are not. So it made sense that she would know that she was adopted. But what parents would tell a kid that she was found in a fire.
@Will N most of the parents don't reveal to their kids they were adopted until they reach a certain age, when your parents tell you you're adopted it's a shook and you need to be ready.
@Will N just because you have witnessed similar case doesn't mean it's more fair, I acutally knew more people that weren't aware of being adopted, that depends from the approach of their parents. If the kids were adopted as babies, parents usually prefer not telling them they are adopted until they are ready.

i actually love the 4kidz dub of winx club. all of the voices are really unique and match their characters well. tecna’s british accent was a bit jarring but it helped set her apart from the other girls
Yeah I prefer it as well, the voice actors were the best. The RAI and Nick English dubs voice actors were not very good, their voices were so flat and only on one level, there was just no emotion. (Though the RAI starting in season 4 had better voice actors) I will admit, there were some things 4kids should have kept, like keeping Daphne as Bloom’s older sister instead of her just being her mentor. If they had kept somethings the same they might have been able to dub the movie.
One small detail that really made me appreciate 4Kids dub is the Miss Magix ep in season 1. In the original the Trix “sabotaged” a black contestants hair into an afro. And the contestant was upset at how “unruly” it looked and even other people made fun of her hair. But 4Kids made it into a voice issue not a hair issue. The contestant had a very high pitched voice rather than the supposedly “unflattering unruly” hair. So good job on them for being inclusive and not racist.
The ironic part about 4K!DS changing Valtor's name to Baltor was that kid me couldn't figure out if they were actually saying Baltor or Valtor. But I did always think his symbol was supposed to be a monster face and not a V.
I watched the 4kids dub growing up and it never even crossed by mind that they were saying baltor and not valtor, I never realised the V in the symbol either. He was always just valtor to me and his symbol was a cool looking thing 😂😂
Let's not forget Season 1 episode 13. Where Bloom finds out about her being adopted. The 4kids version made it more heartwarming compared to the other dubs.
I will defend the 4kids dub until my fucking death It’s cheesy and silly in so many parts but that’s what makes it so loveable. Also the voices were better than any of the Rai ones and the songs were absolute bops.

The thing I remember the most about Darkar is actually not something that was in the show. 4Kids had these weird commercials of the characters talking about random shit over clips from the show, and in one of them the girls are talking about how lame Darkar is and one of them said something like "Poor guy! I bet he's so mean because he doesnt have a girlfriend!" And Darkar said "HEY! I have a girlfriend, she's just REALLY FAR AWAY." I don't know why but that stupid line makes me laugh even years later. XD Does anyone else remember that??
I understand that 4kids changed a lot of stuff and was cheesy, but I prefer this version as I grew up with it and also the voice acting is amazing and gave each character their unique personality and charm. Other versions such as the Rai dub was too boring for me to watch as the voice acting felt too boring and bland, and felt that the voice actors didn’t give much effort to it. I couldn’t get past S1 with the cringy and boring voice acting. Also the soundtrack 4Kids did was a solid 10/10
Rai dub... You mean the original italian version? I hope not. The original voices in the italian dub are definitively the best. Italian voice actor generally put more effort than the ones in other countries, especially when dubbing anime. I have no idea why, but I ain't complaining.
I think that enchantix being the quote on quote 'final transformation', is referring to it being the last 'natural' transformation of the franchise, in comparison to sirenix which had to be gained through a quest and believix by actively trying to make humans believe in fairies. Which would explain it being called the 'final transformation'.
kathrine pedersen I agree but also originally in season 4, Believix was supposed to kinda be like Charmix in which like right after they use they go back to their Enchantix forms
I’m pretty sure it just means the final transformations for most fairies. Given that pretty much all the others are for a special use, it wouldn’t make sense for a generic fairy to use Cosmix
I actually like the 4kids explanation for the word "winx" better. It gives the basic fairy form a name, which it should have when you concider that every other transformation has one and its in line with all the other names afterwards ending with "ix". It honestly just makes alot more sense
@Marcoxfenty It made sense to me because Winx is your inner or true self, and what guides you. I thought it summed up the club well. A group of girls who embrace their true inner selves, fight evil, and are guided by their hearts. It's more about what it means to them that made it special, a sort of code that they adopted as an identity.
I LOVED the voice acting of 4kids. I loved how each girl really had their own voice that helped tell you who they are. I wish the other English dub kept there writing but with the 4kids vocies.
I love the 4Kids version! Yeah, the voices sound much better, they have personalities and you can tell what the characters are like, I love the 4Kids version!
Ah i grew up with the 4kids version and it will always have a special place in my heart. Im kind of sad they lost the rights and went bankrupt, it would have been cool to see a season 4 dub from 4kids. Bloom and Icy's voices are my favorite, but my fav is Icy's voice haha. I tried watching the original english dub but i cant get past the cringey voices of the characters. I dont know why i find it so hard to get past that but i guess it's becuase i grew up with this dub and cant imagine their voices sounding like something else haha. Plus i had no idea Sky's voice from 4kids was Dan Green. After hearing his voice recently I was like OMG that Yugi's voice haha.
I grew up with the RAI English version so the voices weren't cringey to me. It's just serious in tone and is faithful to the original (the script, they kept the music background, the opening and ending themes, which were iconic to me). They also didn't butchered any scenes there so I was able to understand the characters better (esp Riven dealing with his monster self at the prison...that wasn't in the 4Kids dub for some reason). When I watched this version however, it was just...hilarious and really Americanized I can't remember an episode where I didn't laugh even a bit.
i grew up with the 4kids one too. the other dub, their voices sound too much alike. i really wished 4kids voice actors were able to finish the show entirely. loved them so much.
I honestly can't watch any other dub but the 4Kids dub because the other dubs just make me cringe with the bland and indistinguishable voices. I mean, the characters all sound pretty interchangeable. The Winx and even the Trix sounded so overly girly. The 4Kids version gave them all individual sounding voices that suited their character and helped them stand out. When a character is speaking off-screen in the other dubs, I can't tell who it is that is talking. With 4Kids, I am able to tell right off the bat. 4Kids is the best dub due to that.
The only thing with 4kids, was that they reused the same voice actors for everything. Which isn't always bad, it's just when I watch the 4Kids dub I only can hear Sonic X characters.
4kids definitely gave the characters more personality then any other dub. And I've watched both dubs and I dont remember rai being dark or anymore mature then the 4 kids. Yeah some of the dialogue is different but I feel 4kids still kept its serious parts. I mean 4kids made the nightmare episode more scary as the original had no dialogue and was very awkward.
4kids cut a lot of serious parts, like when Bloom found out she was adopted, the Sky and Brandon swap caused by terrorism and the parallelism between Flora & Miele and the willows
4Kids cut out the scene where Riven deals with his monster self created by Darcy and Stormy at the prison and instead made him look like an idiot talking to himself about how to confront Darcy.
Something I've always found annoying is, in season 1, the witches would call the Winx Club "pixies" as an an insult. When the pixies were introduced in season 2, however, the insult stopped.
I binged winx on TH-cam when I was twelve and it’s now I realize how I watch some episode with the 4kids dub and some in the cinelum dub without ever realizing.
When I was about 11 or so, I recall watching this show on Nickelodeon, mainly in the 4kids dub but I must've seen one of the other dubs because I recall hearing both Layla/Aisha (and remembering the latter), Sparks/Domino (same case) and I remember me hearing and singing Enchantix lyrics.
Growing up I only remember watching seasons 1 and 2 on 4kids. It wasn't until the live action Netflix version was so gross that I had to go back and watch the cartoon. Now I have no clue what version I'm watching whats the orginal or whats going on.
Not gonna lie. The 4kids voice actors one liners were awesome, and ALL the songs were *BANGERS* . Feels like magic, Mean girls, We are the winx these are all iconic. I also love how every character had so much identity. The other dubs every character seems alike....
I can see why you would call Bloom's Enchantix bs, but I'm actually a fan of it. It makes sense after all. She can't make a sacrifice for someone of her home planet since Domino was destroyed years ago. The only one left would have been Daphne and, well, you can't make much of a sacrifice for a phantom. Also it added nice details and reasons for the first movie, giving her the chance to finally come into her full Enchantix powers without any problems or drawbacks. Actually, giving her drawbacks and problems of control makes more sense considering that she forced her powers to activate/power up as compared to a natural progression.
Also it was said that the little pouch she got, was the essence of Pyros. So by implication Faragonda send Bloom to bond with a Planet fitting for her powers so she could have her Enchantix. Hell the Pouch of Pyros LITTERALLY became her Fairydust Bottle. Yes she kinda willed it by sheer force of anger, but aside from that she choose to protect a Planet by principle. And it was incomplete because it wasn't really her true Home - just a substitute. I don't know why people never talk about that fact, when talking about Blooms Enchantix..
I saw 4Kids Darkar's draw and obsession with Bloom as having to do with the fact the Shadow Fire/Phoenix and the Great Dragon/Dragon Fire are kind of born of the same source at the beginning of the universe, and are inevitably drawn towards each other. The Shadow Phoenix is evil, but it also sees the Dragon as a peer.
@@dilaraharris2078 She was always Layla in Germany. Aisha was standard in Italy. SO that's her original name. However I don't think they should have changed it. In the German dub of World of Winx she was Aisha for 1 episode. Then they went back to Layla. THe poor children 🤣
in portuguese there was also only one dub but they did change her name halfway through without explanation and i never understood that as a kid. i was so confused learning that there are so many english dubs like wtf was going on back then
Thank god I grew up with the German dub, which had the exact same storyline and dialogue as the Italian original. I never even knew you could "rewrite" the story with a different dub, so when I found out about the 4kids dub a few years ago, I was actually shocked that not everybody saw the same Winx as I did.

Where the f**k is the reference to "Stop misbehaving or we might have to spank you" from Bloom in S3 that I think was the best line in the 4kids dub.. It was something Nick never would have done. 4kids is like a parody but its also just an actual dub meant for many viewers and I enjoy it. Regardless this was a good video discussing how it changed with 4kids dub! I enjoyed all 4 videos bout Winx Club so far and hope to see some new stuff later on.
If I were to make any assumptions, I think it was because the name Aisha was more of less trademarked by Neopets (since they had a pet called the Aisha), and 4kids probably heard about some rumors about Neopets being bought by Viacom in the future and wanting to avoid getting involved with Viacom over a dispute, just changed the name to Layla. It would also explain why Aisha's name stayed the same in the Nick dubs, cause Viacom owns Nick and Neopets so there wouldn't be an issue regardless
The name Aisha is important in the Muslim religion, according to my googling. So, speculation back in the day was that her name was changed to Aisha to not hurt people watching the show that practice the Muslim religion, or that it was to erase that meaning all together.
I grew up with the 4kids dub and it's still my favourite. I get that they changed parts of the story but it just felt like the authentic one for me. The voice acting was incredible from actors like Veronica Taylor, Rachel Lillis and Eric Stuart all from Pokemon as well. Also, Lisa Ortiz will ALWAYS be the perfect Icy imo! The personalities genuinely stood out in this dub and I loved them.
When season 3 of the 4Kids dub ended I was like "ok time for season 4. Man it sure is taking a while" When it never came I was sad because I felt like I was missing out. I still wish 4kids dubbed season 4 and just ended it there.
I think 4kids nailed the voice casting, and that's the main reason I've never been able to get into the original dub (they all kinda sound the same to me). I also grew up with 4kids, but maybe I'll give it another shot.

I'm like 99% sure that they changed Aisha's name because it was thought to be too hard for little kids to say since many kids have a lisp or struggle with stop-gap vowels. Same with the change from Valtor to Baltor. Baltor is easier for kids to say. NOW that said that's not really a concern for kids over the age of like 8 so like..........what age group did 4KIDS THINK they were in?
Probably a bit more mature, but not entirely. I mean, I used to hate a lot on the Nick dub (still do though, but not as hard), but Nick is made more into a monster than they were. They did not have complete creativity control over the series and nor over the dialogue. Yes, they had their own writers involved (who had previously worked on shows like Blue's Clues which gives you an idea as to why it became so childish), but Rainbow also contributed. And from what I heard, Rainbow was the one who had the idea to merge the two seasons into specials and their own animators worked on it, not Nick. I theorize that Rainbow had already planned on aiming at a younger audience than what we were used to for the Winx because they were already working on WoW at that time, and WoW was actually aimed at the same age demographic that the original three seasons were. So I think it's a bit more safe to assume that Winx would have taken a similar turn had Nick not got involved. Or worse, it could have ended entirely. I mean, while the seasons were bad and Nick mistreated the series with the airtimes it was given, they did give it some exposure and brought new fans to the fandom.

@@BratzRockAngels Season 7's plot was good, executed badly though. Season 8 hasn't been that bad thus far, certainly much better than seasons 5-7. I think that a lot of fans also give season 8 a lot of slack because of the new style - had they kept the original character design and animation, maybe fans would have been more accepting of this season.
I like both reasons for the winx name. If i had my way I'd make it so some ancient fairy came up with the pun and over time other magic creatures named the first form after that.

It's so weird to see how different and... tame the 4kids version was. I grew up with a Dutch dub following the RAI-dub, so lots of different names, songs and lore confused me when I first played a Winx game for my DS. I watched both the Cinelume and 4Kids dubs to see how it compares to the one I was used to, and 4Kids was super weird to watch. The only thing they changed in the dub I saw was the name Layla.
Winx club, ojamajo doremi, Tokyo mew New, it's sad to see shows that could have been remembered fondly not get a proper redub (a quality dub in terms of writing, no cutting of scenes, and with the tone and context of the show similar to the original, or better)
Personally, I grow up with the French dub which is from the original Italian dub... and also with the Winx Club video games made by Konami! And when I was young, I noticed that the storyline are kind of different in the video games but I liked it because it was add something new to the Winx universe. Then I discover that first video games are made from the 4Kids version. I was surprised to discover that they changed so many things. But I really like the 4Kids version because of the dialogues which are... (I don't know which word use)... more dynamic and clash(?). And some changes made the show is more fun. Oh, and the OST is really cool! The only thing that I never aproved is the fact they made of Musa a princess!
I always get underwhelmed when i hear the "not Enchantix" song. I've always loved the original Enchantix song, I get goosbumps when I hear it because i think it's so perfect and beautifull and fits perfectly with the transformation. I grew up on Norwegian Winx.
When I watched this scene as a kid, I always thought high school was just like kids go to "colleges" or "academies". And I too loved the voice actors. My favourite character was Musa- even in season 1. Layla/Aisha was well written. My sister and I watched season 3 and enjoyed the story
4kids dub will always be special to me. I first saw it when cartoon network aired it on the meguzi block. I did find out about the changes made when just looking stuff up around the same time the nick dub was about to come out. Couple years ago I did sit down and watch seasons 1-3 in rai english though and did like it,both dubs have a special charm to them.
I personally love darkar. I think him just being plain scary would be just kinda boring as thats all too common. I was still kinda scared of him as a kid because his actions are so horrible and he looks scary still.

With the 4kids dub you could feel the emotions of all the characters. They also just...fit. Bloom’s actor was AMAZING and fit her the BEST. I personally can’t watch past season 3 because they don’t have this voice cast
I didn’t like any of the English dubs. The rai dub was the closest to the Italian and had everything that made Winx Club Winx club including the music and story. But the voice acting was horrendous.
you're not alone, I feel the same way and others do too. now that I'm an adult I'd really like to appreciate the Rai dub more, particularly due to the fact it displays the show as unchanged as possible compared to the other two, but being an ex voice actor I've always loved the more dynamic voice casts for the nick and 4kids dubs. Rai has had good moments which I won't deny, but I always personally preferred watching the 4kids and Nick versions for the same reasons as you. They may have flaws but all dubs do. sorry for the rant 😅
About that relationship thingy with Bloom and Darkar, in the German version he literally called her his wife. I remember my six year old self being like... What now?
I like the 4kids version because that is how I was introduced to Winx Club but I like the Nick dub too however I'm not used to the rai version since it's too different and the voices can be often quiet sometimes.
Idk about ya'll but I adore the 4kids dub. I remember seeing two episodes of Winx as kid and it was "The Day Of The Rose" and "Spelled" so vividly and never saw the show again until recently, but Lisa Ortiz deserves an award for voicing Icy because she made her so sound wicked and it was iconic 👏🏾 along with Darcy's and Stormy's (I'm a trix enthusiast can you tell?) Plus I'm used to the fairies sounding like this but when I heard another dub I'm like um...especially when Techa talks 👁👄👁

I did watch the 4kids dub when it was out and I liked it at the time but watching the Rai English and eventually full on Italian, it ranks lower on my list of dubs. The changes are understandable in some aspects but not in others. The transformation sequences constantly repeating every single time and taking out the music didn’t help me. They had great voices so it’s not incredibly terrible
The way you explained that 4Kids changed so much of the Rai version which resulted into them cutting the episode down to 16 minutes, instantly made me realize the purpose of the winx club sing along songs WHICH I LOVED. Like the "Just Us Girls" song and etc.. 😭
I actually really loved the 4Kids Dub as it was the first one I watched along with Mew Mew Power. Lol they were like my favorite magical girl shows. Now that I am in my mid 20’s, I can see why people would dislike it (stereotypes, cheesiness and censorship). However, I have to admit it will always have a special place in my heart. At least with Mew Mew Power I managed to find its original version few years later. I think I found and watched Winx Club season 4 way later. I do wonder if it’s worth watching season 5,6 and 7 since the plots for me didn’t really seem that interesting. Season 8 I actually started watching and now am waiting for the second half of the season to air since I feel the season does a great job in going back to its original roots when it comes to story telling. Pearll I loved it! The dialogue might have been different for the 4Kids version and the original version slightly, but I thought Tokyo Mew Mew was great! I even have all the Tokyo Mew Mew volumes including the A La Mode featuring Berry. I think what I really enjoyed about the original is it had a lot of moments that gave spotlight to the rest of the Mew Mews, not just Zoey (or Ichigo in the original version).
British Tecna was one of my favorite things about the 4kids dub that I was so disappointed when I found out she didn’t have it in the other versions lol

I grew up with 4Kids version and refuse to watch the S1-3 of the others (can't stand the voice changes), but I didn't realise 4Kids changed the plot lines sometimes too. This channel is fabulous, so fascinating doing a deep dive on Winx instead of just my usual rewatching it all simply.
Nah, I think all the dubs are missing some things that the other dubs have. 4kids is missing somthing that Rai/Cinelume and Nickelodeon has, Nickelodeon is missing something that 4kids and Rai/Cinelume has and Rai is (in my opinion) missing the most. (Rai is still personally my favourite due to nostalgia.)

While I do prefer the faithful dub, the Cinelume dub, the 4Kids version will always have a special place in my heart. One tiny detail you forgot to mention was how in the original, Bloom had no idea she was adopted which 4kids changed to her having always known, just not that she was found in a fire
@Will N I agree. I mean, she would have figured it out in the first episode anyways. Seriously, she found out that she is a fairy but her parents are not. So it made sense that she would know that she was adopted. But what parents would tell a kid that she was found in a fire.
@Will N most of the parents don't reveal to their kids they were adopted until they reach a certain age, when your parents tell you you're adopted it's a shook and you need to be ready.
@Will N just because you have witnessed similar case doesn't mean it's more fair, I acutally knew more people that weren't aware of being adopted, that depends from the approach of their parents. If the kids were adopted as babies, parents usually prefer not telling them they are adopted until they are ready.

i actually love the 4kidz dub of winx club. all of the voices are really unique and match their characters well. tecna’s british accent was a bit jarring but it helped set her apart from the other girls

Yeah I prefer it as well, the voice actors were the best. The RAI and Nick English dubs voice actors were not very good, their voices were so flat and only on one level, there was just no emotion. (Though the RAI starting in season 4 had better voice actors) I will admit, there were some things 4kids should have kept, like keeping Daphne as Bloom’s older sister instead of her just being her mentor. If they had kept somethings the same they might have been able to dub the movie.
One small detail that really made me appreciate 4Kids dub is the Miss Magix ep in season 1. In the original the Trix “sabotaged” a black contestants hair into an afro. And the contestant was upset at how “unruly” it looked and even other people made fun of her hair. But 4Kids made it into a voice issue not a hair issue. The contestant had a very high pitched voice rather than the supposedly “unflattering unruly” hair. So good job on them for being inclusive and not racist.

The thing I remember the most about Darkar is actually not something that was in the show. 4Kids had these weird commercials of the characters talking about random shit over clips from the show, and in one of them the girls are talking about how lame Darkar is and one of them said something like "Poor guy! I bet he's so mean because he doesnt have a girlfriend!"
And Darkar said "HEY! I have a girlfriend, she's just REALLY FAR AWAY."
I don't know why but that stupid line makes me laugh even years later. XD Does anyone else remember that??
I understand that 4kids changed a lot of stuff and was cheesy, but I prefer this version as I grew up with it and also the voice acting is amazing and gave each character their unique personality and charm. Other versions such as the Rai dub was too boring for me to watch as the voice acting felt too boring and bland, and felt that the voice actors didn’t give much effort to it. I couldn’t get past S1 with the cringy and boring voice acting.
Also the soundtrack 4Kids did was a solid 10/10

I think that enchantix being the quote on quote 'final transformation', is referring to it being the last 'natural' transformation of the franchise, in comparison to sirenix which had to be gained through a quest and believix by actively trying to make humans believe in fairies. Which would explain it being called the 'final transformation'.

I actually like the 4kids explanation for the word "winx" better. It gives the basic fairy form a name, which it should have when you concider that every other transformation has one and its in line with all the other names afterwards ending with "ix". It honestly just makes alot more sense

@Marcoxfenty It made sense to me because Winx is your inner or true self, and what guides you. I thought it summed up the club well. A group of girls who embrace their true inner selves, fight evil, and are guided by their hearts. It's more about what it means to them that made it special, a sort of code that they adopted as an identity.

I LOVED the voice acting of 4kids. I loved how each girl really had their own voice that helped tell you who they are. I wish the other English dub kept there writing but with the 4kids vocies.
I find the 4Kids one more entertaining and engaging. I don’t like the other version, the actors sound bored for 90% of the time.
I also like the fact that in 4kids the witches voices are more raspy and it sounds more authentic

Ah i grew up with the 4kids version and it will always have a special place in my heart. Im kind of sad they lost the rights and went bankrupt, it would have been cool to see a season 4 dub from 4kids. Bloom and Icy's voices are my favorite, but my fav is Icy's voice haha. I tried watching the original english dub but i cant get past the cringey voices of the characters. I dont know why i find it so hard to get past that but i guess it's becuase i grew up with this dub and cant imagine their voices sounding like something else haha. Plus i had no idea Sky's voice from 4kids was Dan Green. After hearing his voice recently I was like OMG that Yugi's voice haha.

I grew up with the RAI English version so the voices weren't cringey to me. It's just serious in tone and is faithful to the original (the script, they kept the music background, the opening and ending themes, which were iconic to me). They also didn't butchered any scenes there so I was able to understand the characters better (esp Riven dealing with his monster self at the prison...that wasn't in the 4Kids dub for some reason). When I watched this version however, it was just...hilarious and really Americanized I can't remember an episode where I didn't laugh even a bit.

I honestly can't watch any other dub but the 4Kids dub because the other dubs just make me cringe with the bland and indistinguishable voices. I mean, the characters all sound pretty interchangeable. The Winx and even the Trix sounded so overly girly. The 4Kids version gave them all individual sounding voices that suited their character and helped them stand out. When a character is speaking off-screen in the other dubs, I can't tell who it is that is talking. With 4Kids, I am able to tell right off the bat. 4Kids is the best dub due to that.

And I've watched both dubs and I dont remember rai being dark or anymore mature then the 4 kids. Yeah some of the dialogue is different but I feel 4kids still kept its serious parts. I mean 4kids made the nightmare episode more scary as the original had no dialogue and was very awkward.
4kids cut a lot of serious parts, like when Bloom found out she was adopted, the Sky and Brandon swap caused by terrorism and the parallelism between Flora & Miele and the willows
4Kids cut out the scene where Riven deals with his monster self created by Darcy and Stormy at the prison and instead made him look like an idiot talking to himself about how to confront Darcy.

Something I've always found annoying is, in season 1, the witches would call the Winx Club "pixies" as an an insult. When the pixies were introduced in season 2, however, the insult stopped.
I binged winx on TH-cam when I was twelve and it’s now I realize how I watch some episode with the 4kids dub and some in the cinelum dub without ever realizing.
When I was about 11 or so, I recall watching this show on Nickelodeon, mainly in the 4kids dub but I must've seen one of the other dubs because I recall hearing both Layla/Aisha (and remembering the latter), Sparks/Domino (same case) and I remember me hearing and singing Enchantix lyrics.
Growing up I only remember watching seasons 1 and 2 on 4kids. It wasn't until the live action Netflix version was so gross that I had to go back and watch the cartoon. Now I have no clue what version I'm watching whats the orginal or whats going on.

Not gonna lie. The 4kids voice actors one liners were awesome, and ALL the songs were *BANGERS* . Feels like magic, Mean girls, We are the winx these are all iconic. I also love how every character had so much identity. The other dubs every character seems alike....

I can see why you would call Bloom's Enchantix bs, but I'm actually a fan of it. It makes sense after all. She can't make a sacrifice for someone of her home planet since Domino was destroyed years ago. The only one left would have been Daphne and, well, you can't make much of a sacrifice for a phantom. Also it added nice details and reasons for the first movie, giving her the chance to finally come into her full Enchantix powers without any problems or drawbacks.
Actually, giving her drawbacks and problems of control makes more sense considering that she forced her powers to activate/power up as compared to a natural progression.
Also it was said that the little pouch she got, was the essence of Pyros.
So by implication Faragonda send Bloom to bond with a Planet fitting for her powers so she could have her Enchantix. Hell the Pouch of Pyros LITTERALLY became her Fairydust Bottle.
Yes she kinda willed it by sheer force of anger, but aside from that she choose to protect a Planet by principle. And it was incomplete because it wasn't really her true Home - just a substitute.
I don't know why people never talk about that fact, when talking about Blooms Enchantix..

I saw 4Kids Darkar's draw and obsession with Bloom as having to do with the fact the Shadow Fire/Phoenix and the Great Dragon/Dragon Fire are kind of born of the same source at the beginning of the universe, and are inevitably drawn towards each other. The Shadow Phoenix is evil, but it also sees the Dragon as a peer.
In Germany everything is simple. We just had one dub and Aisha was always called Layla.

Thank god I grew up with the German dub, which had the exact same storyline and dialogue as the Italian original. I never even knew you could "rewrite" the story with a different dub, so when I found out about the 4kids dub a few years ago, I was actually shocked that not everybody saw the same Winx as I did.

If I were to make any assumptions, I think it was because the name Aisha was more of less trademarked by Neopets (since they had a pet called the Aisha), and 4kids probably heard about some rumors about Neopets being bought by Viacom in the future and wanting to avoid getting involved with Viacom over a dispute, just changed the name to Layla.
It would also explain why Aisha's name stayed the same in the Nick dubs, cause Viacom owns Nick and Neopets so there wouldn't be an issue regardless
The name Aisha is important in the Muslim religion, according to my googling. So, speculation back in the day was that her name was changed to Aisha to not hurt people watching the show that practice the Muslim religion, or that it was to erase that meaning all together.

I grew up with the 4kids dub and it's still my favourite. I get that they changed parts of the story but it just felt like the authentic one for me. The voice acting was incredible from actors like Veronica Taylor, Rachel Lillis and Eric Stuart all from Pokemon as well. Also, Lisa Ortiz will ALWAYS be the perfect Icy imo! The personalities genuinely stood out in this dub and I loved them.

When season 3 of the 4Kids dub ended I was like "ok time for season 4. Man it sure is taking a while" When it never came I was sad because I felt like I was missing out. I still wish 4kids dubbed season 4 and just ended it there.

I think 4kids nailed the voice casting, and that's the main reason I've never been able to get into the original dub (they all kinda sound the same to me). I also grew up with 4kids, but maybe I'll give it another shot.

I'm like 99% sure that they changed Aisha's name because it was thought to be too hard for little kids to say since many kids have a lisp or struggle with stop-gap vowels. Same with the change from Valtor to Baltor. Baltor is easier for kids to say. NOW that said that's not really a concern for kids over the age of like 8 so like..........what age group did 4KIDS THINK they were in?

Probably a bit more mature, but not entirely. I mean, I used to hate a lot on the Nick dub (still do though, but not as hard), but Nick is made more into a monster than they were. They did not have complete creativity control over the series and nor over the dialogue. Yes, they had their own writers involved (who had previously worked on shows like Blue's Clues which gives you an idea as to why it became so childish), but Rainbow also contributed. And from what I heard, Rainbow was the one who had the idea to merge the two seasons into specials and their own animators worked on it, not Nick.
I theorize that Rainbow had already planned on aiming at a younger audience than what we were used to for the Winx because they were already working on WoW at that time, and WoW was actually aimed at the same age demographic that the original three seasons were. So I think it's a bit more safe to assume that Winx would have taken a similar turn had Nick not got involved. Or worse, it could have ended entirely. I mean, while the seasons were bad and Nick mistreated the series with the airtimes it was given, they did give it some exposure and brought new fans to the fandom.

@@BratzRockAngels Season 7's plot was good, executed badly though. Season 8 hasn't been that bad thus far, certainly much better than seasons 5-7. I think that a lot of fans also give season 8 a lot of slack because of the new style - had they kept the original character design and animation, maybe fans would have been more accepting of this season.

Good, i grew up with Nick but I got the first two seasons on Netflix (with Nick smushed together together into 4 specials, so it was very a good coincidence
It's so weird to see how different and... tame the 4kids version was. I grew up with a Dutch dub following the RAI-dub, so lots of different names, songs and lore confused me when I first played a Winx game for my DS.
I watched both the Cinelume and 4Kids dubs to see how it compares to the one I was used to, and 4Kids was super weird to watch. The only thing they changed in the dub I saw was the name Layla.

Winx club, ojamajo doremi, Tokyo mew New, it's sad to see shows that could have been remembered fondly not get a proper redub (a quality dub in terms of writing, no cutting of scenes, and with the tone and context of the show similar to the original, or better)

Personally, I grow up with the French dub which is from the original Italian dub... and also with the Winx Club video games made by Konami! And when I was young, I noticed that the storyline are kind of different in the video games but I liked it because it was add something new to the Winx universe. Then I discover that first video games are made from the 4Kids version. I was surprised to discover that they changed so many things.
But I really like the 4Kids version because of the dialogues which are... (I don't know which word use)... more dynamic and clash(?). And some changes made the show is more fun. Oh, and the OST is really cool! The only thing that I never aproved is the fact they made of Musa a princess!
I always get underwhelmed when i hear the "not Enchantix" song.
I've always loved the original Enchantix song, I get goosbumps when I hear it because i think it's so perfect and beautifull and fits perfectly with the transformation. I grew up on Norwegian Winx.
When I watched this scene as a kid, I always thought high school was just like kids go to "colleges" or "academies". And I too loved the voice actors.
My favourite character was Musa- even in season 1. Layla/Aisha was well written.

4kids dub will always be special to me. I first saw it when cartoon network aired it on the meguzi block. I did find out about the changes made when just looking stuff up around the same time the nick dub was about to come out. Couple years ago I did sit down and watch seasons 1-3 in rai english though and did like it,both dubs have a special charm to them.

I personally love darkar. I think him just being plain scary would be just kinda boring as thats all too common. I was still kinda scared of him as a kid because his actions are so horrible and he looks scary still.
The 4kids dub I remember watching seasons 1 & 2 growing up but never seeing the third season ( at the time I think 4kids stop airing on hawaii around the time I'm guessing) but yeah I loved 4kids' blooms voice actor

I’ll never understand why people hate on the 4kids dub. I love it WAY more than any others. The original is eh, all the actors are just not even trying, and Nickelodeon just made me MAD. With the 4kids dub you could feel the emotions of all the characters. They also just...fit. Bloom’s actor was AMAZING and fit her the BEST. I personally can’t watch past season 3 because they don’t have this voice cast

I didn’t like any of the English dubs. The rai dub was the closest to the Italian and had everything that made Winx Club Winx club including the music and story. But the voice acting was horrendous.

you're not alone, I feel the same way and others do too. now that I'm an adult I'd really like to appreciate the Rai dub more, particularly due to the fact it displays the show as unchanged as possible compared to the other two, but being an ex voice actor I've always loved the more dynamic voice casts for the nick and 4kids dubs. Rai has had good moments which I won't deny, but I always personally preferred watching the 4kids and Nick versions for the same reasons as you. They may have flaws but all dubs do. sorry for the rant 😅

I like the 4kids version because that is how I was introduced to Winx Club but I like the Nick dub too however I'm not used to the rai version since it's too different and the voices can be often quiet sometimes.
Idk about ya'll but I adore the 4kids dub. I remember seeing two episodes of Winx as kid and it was "The Day Of The Rose" and "Spelled" so vividly and never saw the show again until recently, but Lisa Ortiz deserves an award for voicing Icy because she made her so sound wicked and it was iconic 👏🏾 along with Darcy's and Stormy's (I'm a trix enthusiast can you tell?) Plus I'm used to the fairies sounding like this but when I heard another dub I'm like um...especially when Techa talks 👁👄👁

I did watch the 4kids dub when it was out and I liked it at the time but watching the Rai English and eventually full on Italian, it ranks lower on my list of dubs. The changes are understandable in some aspects but not in others. The transformation sequences constantly repeating every single time and taking out the music didn’t help me. They had great voices so it’s not incredibly terrible
The way you explained that 4Kids changed so much of the Rai version which resulted into them cutting the episode down to 16 minutes, instantly made me realize the purpose of the winx club sing along songs WHICH I LOVED. Like the "Just Us Girls" song and etc.. 😭
I actually really loved the 4Kids Dub as it was the first one I watched along with Mew Mew Power. Lol they were like my favorite magical girl shows. Now that I am in my mid 20’s, I can see why people would dislike it (stereotypes, cheesiness and censorship). However, I have to admit it will always have a special place in my heart.
At least with Mew Mew Power I managed to find its original version few years later. I think I found and watched Winx Club season 4 way later. I do wonder if it’s worth watching season 5,6 and 7 since the plots for me didn’t really seem that interesting. Season 8 I actually started watching and now am waiting for the second half of the season to air since I feel the season does a great job in going back to its original roots when it comes to story telling.

Pearll I loved it! The dialogue might have been different for the 4Kids version and the original version slightly, but I thought Tokyo Mew Mew was great! I even have all the Tokyo Mew Mew volumes including the A La Mode featuring Berry. I think what I really enjoyed about the original is it had a lot of moments that gave spotlight to the rest of the Mew Mews, not just Zoey (or Ichigo in the original version).
British Tecna was one of my favorite things about the 4kids dub that I was so disappointed when I found out she didn’t have it in the other versions lol

I grew up with 4Kids version and refuse to watch the S1-3 of the others (can't stand the voice changes), but I didn't realise 4Kids changed the plot lines sometimes too. This channel is fabulous, so fascinating doing a deep dive on Winx instead of just my usual rewatching it all simply.
They MADE the show amazing!!!!! The 4kids dub was 100000% better then the Nickelodeon dub

Nah, I think all the dubs are missing some things that the other dubs have. 4kids is missing somthing that Rai/Cinelume and Nickelodeon has, Nickelodeon is missing something that 4kids and Rai/Cinelume has and Rai is (in my opinion) missing the most. (Rai is still personally my favourite due to nostalgia.)

Great video, Tom. I’ve watched Winx Club myself a long time ago, every morning before I had to go to school, that show was once of my cherished childhood memories. While I do prefer the faithful dub, the Cinelume dub, the 4Kids version will always have a special place in my heart.
Edit: Also, since you've mentioned earlier in the video that you enjoyed Jason Griffith as a voice actor, are you in any way associated with a certain blue hedgehog?
