Welcome back to another Aftershow Podcast episode with Sadot the Gamer and JayShockblast, where we dive into all the major gaming and entertainment news this week. It's been a packed week, and we’ve got a lot to talk about-starting with the ongoing issues at Ubisoft, including their record low stock price and the cancellation of Assassin's Creed Shadows press previews and Tokyo Game Show appearance. The game, which has now officially been delayed to February 2025, was set to be one of Ubisoft's biggest releases. But, with the inclusion of Yasuke, the first Black Samurai in the series, it sparked a culture war backlash, showing just how polarized the gaming community can be.
Next, we recap the recent PlayStation State of Play and the huge reveal of Ghost of Yotei-the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The reveal was massive, but unfortunately, it also met with a sexist backlash from anti-woke gamers, specifically from members of the Gamergate movement, because the game features a female lead. It’s clear the fight for inclusivity in gaming is still ongoing, but Ghost of Yotei is shaping up to be a major title for PlayStation. We also covered the PS5 Pro pre-order launch day and how difficult it was to get the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro. Scalpers are back at it again, and many fans were left frustrated as the consoles sold out almost instantly.
Speaking of ongoing issues, Xbox has been struggling internally, and their Tokyo Game Show appearance didn’t exactly calm any fears. Reports suggest there’s a real lack of direction for Xbox right now, even with a few decent showings at the event. Meanwhile, PlayStation’s presentation at Tokyo Game Show featured a bizarre yet intriguing Death Stranding 2 trailer from Hideo Kojima and some exciting Monster Hunter Wilds gameplay from Capcom. Plus, we wrapped up our week by reviewing the first three episodes of Agatha All Along, the new Disney Plus show that has everyone talking. We also talk about the surprise reveal from Rocksteady that season 3 of Suicide Squad, the Gotham DLC which will introduce Zoey Lawton, daughter of Deadshot as a DLC character launches in a few days.
