Dont really care about the voice actress, ig it triggers people who actively take people's thoughts to heart like you can just ignore what some people have to say, game is still being made by the cheese burger samurai enthusiasts, its like people would say infamous was going to be a bad game if troy baker had said some dumb shit before the release of infamous second son, which was a good game. Like revealing va shouldn't be a deciding factor in saying a game's going to be bad or good. Personally I am willing to bet on suckerpunch knowing their history.

About the VA controversy, as long as her activisim doesn't affect the game then I think it's fine. She's just acting in it, it's not like she's developing the game and there are plenty of actors with bad stances on both sides of the field that put their professionalisms as actors first before their political opinions. The same thing can't be said for AC Shadows though, that one is beyond reasoning...
Yeah I totally see both sides of the argument, but it's still early to say much about it. We'll see when we they show us more on the game, but if they DID allow for that mentality to change their entire studio it would make for some hilarious content

I just figure if the game is good it wasn't woke. Because if it was really woke there is no way it could be good.
Too early to tell, just gotta wait for more to be shown but it is a red flag at the very least so keep it in mind for down the road. ^^

確かに日本の歴史には、女侍とか女武将と呼ばれた女性がごく僅かに存在しましたが、それはあくまで戦争に巻き込まれた武家の娘が、家を守るために男と一緒に戦ったみたいな特殊事例だし、そもそも武家では娘が武芸を習うことは変なことではないからね。
この羊蹄のトレーラーにあるような、1603年の北海道という、江戸幕府の松前藩が設置される一年前の、未開の地と言っても過言ではない土地に、侍の格好をした女性が一人で旅をするというのは、仮に時代劇だったとしてもトンデモ設定なので、その違和感を覆すほどのすごい設定が明かされることを期待します。

確かに誾千代やら、巴御前の例がありますからね。女性が主人公で違和感というほどではないと思います。ただ現在のゲーム業界の流れからアレルギーのように反応してしまうのも致し方ないですよね。
ポリコレ業界からの圧力があったとしても、納得できるようなストーリであればいいのですが。

The clan emblem / crest you pointed out at 15:30 in your video (3 minutes in the actual video) looks to me like the Tokugawa. It's also seen at the 12:07 mark in your video / the 2:13 mark in the trailer. She's always messing with people near a Tokugawa crest so I have to wonder if she was sent by him.
Also interesting that she seems to have a bear skin cloak, as the Ainu really liked bears... at least for a bit until.... well you know.
I Agree with the wait and see approach because this is one of my most anticipated games of next year I loved the first one and I think sucker punch will be able to make an amazing story with a well written character that is my hope for this game

The biggest mistake Ubisoft did was to go with "this is authentic hidden history". If they had simply claimed that they are using a historical character that is shrouded in mystery due to the lack of records and we thought this might be true they would have gotten a lot of leeway. Even if something is proven to be false, it still falls under what the game company who are not experts thought might be true.
But when you start making statements that something is factual history you will be judged the same as real experts. You brought it upon yourself by taking a mantle of a historian.
they still would have gotten criticism for the inaccuracy of Japanese culture and tradition. Sometimes the smallest detail can say alot.
Just be glad Ubisoft didn't have their way with this one. Both of you would turn into alcoholics.

I quite liked the game on the first day of the trailer, but after learning about the main character's voice actress, I am preparing for the worst.

I would love to have you guys review Blue Eyed Samuria. That would be an amazing series.
I think its best to ask you guys this but Miyamoto Mushashi was alive during this period, don't know why they didn't go with a famous samurai or Continue Jin's story as it was left with a lot setup for a sequel, Every Sony First title for a New IP has Male lead & if its successful, the execs & devs subrvert it with A female lead or Blatant DEI propaganda.
I feel disappointed from talking with some devs in the industry & what the internal direction of these studios as only activism is put front & center, Im not going to support SuckerPunch or buy this game when i was a big fan of the First one, Im sure more stuff will come out as marketing ramps up, Like the VA being a raging leftist & Shawn Layden saying if u don't like it don't but it, which is not a good business practice.

Here within the first half-hour, and even before finishing the vid, I have to say that you and your wife add so very much depth to these trailers, and happily here it is adding exciting depths. As someone whose main exposure to Japan is popular culture and carpentry (heh, you should see my kumiko... well, perhaps not), your videos never fail to both amuse and educate me. A very different set of emotions from watching the latest Ubislop droppings...
Just to check, the Voice Actress that is the center of controversy at the moment, is she the English VA only, or does she do the English and Japanese VO work?

Ill keep repeating it. If the workmanship is actually good i dont mind "woke" stuff. If its not ovbiously pushed on me with all might, its okay. The va is just a tiny part of the whole thing. Also: can somebody explain to me good vs bad activism? I am getting more and more confused by the use of that word by people. (Every body realises the become activits for or against a cause, right?)
IMO, having an activist VA doesn’t really bother me, as long as the game itself doesn’t inherently have agenda in it. I mean, it’s not like a VA can force anything in the game, they’re just actors. we literally only saw snippets of the game, nothing really stands out as DEI yet. Plus Suckerpunch still has a lot of good will from GOT that im willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

as long the VA dont chime in " DONT LIKE IT DONT BUY" the whole game will be sell, but once sales, the schitbabyinc will use this as win, so its gonna be hella annoying. recently sony being doing bait and switch on every ip, not going to buy this game, becuase this VA is ticking time bomb.
GoT had online controversy on it's opening. Maybe online controversy is going to be a "thing" with the ghost franchise. But Sucker Punch exceeded expectations with Tsushima. I don't see why they won't do the same for Yotei. As for the VA and her politics and whatnot; I'm only interested in whether or not I can play as her for 300+ hours and be immersed. So long as she wasn't at a Diddy party or Epstein's island or whatnot, I truly do not care about political/activists stances. It's entertainment. Just keep it at that.
ok i never noticed but the trailers for Ghost of Yotei already did more than what Ubi did, they gave Japanese Voice for Japan trailer. 😂
Another irony is that Ubi claims for historical accuracy while getting alot of details wrong meanwhile Sucker Punch never claimed accuracy yet got alot of the details right. 🤣
Honestly, about the VA thing maybe it will or it won't affect things much since VAs don't usually have a say in how the game should go, also there are VAs for other languages too, am just keeping an open mind here so only time will tell whether am right or wrong.
Even though this game looks good. I will not buy this due to the voice actor non sense in recent news. I do not support activism in my game. Don't like it, I won't buy it.
I have two possible theories, that she's a survivor of Sekigahara on the Western side who fled to Hokkaido or she's a hunting dog of Tokugawa casing down survivors who fled. I didn't know they were names so now I'm leaning towards the latter.

The casting of the voice actor ruined alot of hype for me. Imma try to give sucker punch the benefit of the doubt but im alert now. If more dei infested things come to light, imma have to pass on this one. No one hires an activist by mistake and yes, there are times voice actors have an impact on what goes in the game. Activist have beliefs and agendas so its not a stretch the voice actor suggested some unwanted things to be in the game. Only time will tell. The use of guns is dope, giving rise of ronin vibes and the duel wielding swords is sick af…. Please dont sucker punch us Sucker Punch…. Im trusting you

This game will be amazing regardless of the VA. All she does is read a script and all of that other stuff is just mush mouth crap. The same people complaining about this game are gonna buy it so just breathe and go outside to touch the grass because this isnt even that deep 😒.
Unless they replace the voice actress and All evidence of her involvement in this, it won't be getting my support. Loved the first one. They've made a Major misstep with this one.
