Elon just revealed that Tesla is targeting a 0-60 MPH time of less than 1 second with for their NEW Roadster which would smash the existing production car records. In this video I discuss how SpaceX tech will help make this possible, when the roadster will be in production and more other based on what Elon recently shared.

Selfdriving is a good thing when people pass out from the G-forces!
Do you own a Tesla?
If Elon can make the Roadster go faster than a Formula 1 car for the length of a race on the track, then I will raise not one but two eyebrows.
Probably not, but it would be interesting to see what custom builds can do like the plaid dark helmet
My friend rises to new heights 🍆
Unless you have a unibrow.
How else would you stick to the wall of a tunnel.
Imagine in the future what Drag Racing will look like and how fast they will be going
Tesla is not going to unveil a roadstar only by the end of the year .we already seen this car and elon said he doesn't make concept cars. Meaning the roadstar design is not going to be far off.Im calling it right now that the one more thing off the unveiling is a Next gen car( MODEL 2)
I can see why the new Roadster is now being promoted ahead of the model 2 - the limited volumes at this price point make manufacture arguably easier. Meeting market demand for the cheaper car is going to be a huge challenge for Tesla, not least because it needs a new factory (for volume) and probably robot assembly workers.
They can't make the M2 until giga Mexico is built
So what makes you think they can’t do both?
Car in the thumbnail looks awesome
Agreed! - Thumbnail image source (used with permission): instagram.com/charlieautomotive/
it didnt occur to me tesla will use downforce to get to 60 in under a second. how would it do that without being 1/4 off the ground?
I have a deposit down on the roadster. I will probably spring for the Space X package but pricing will determine that.
Hasn't it been like almost 10 years they announced this car? I know it's been atleast 6 years. The 0-60 times that Tesla advertises are bs imo by including a foot of rollout not from a dead stop. The plaid and the p100d for instance have almost identical 0-60 times from a dead stop from the videos I watched of regular people testing them. Tesla plaid around 2.4 and p100d 2.5. The 1 foot of rollout makes a gigantic difference.
What would be even more awesome is if Tesla offers a standard roadster with at least track pack for the enthusiast.
What Tesla model do you own?
@@_nosikeuzoma1456 unfortunately I'm not that fortunate to be able to accuire a Tesla. Live in an third world country with electric utility on the brink of disaster not to talk about non-exsistant charging infrastructure. So, I will cheer on Tesla owners and enjoy their FSD rides as if I'm in the vehicle with them
@@mariusmeyer14 So no worries, my friend! This model Tesla will be in the hands of few people, and so it really doesn’t matter where you live because it’s gonna be a limited production run, and they will all the sold before the first one ever gets off the production line. Cheers 🥂
@@mariusmeyer14 Oh! BTW! What are you doing to improve the electrical grid in your country?
@@theodorehaskins3756 I've gone Solar so less load from me.
Nuts
FSD gonna be FSF, guys gonna invent the flying car
In germany we say: Das bekommt sicher kein TÜV 😂
Is it healthy to go from 0 to 60 under a second?
...I'm tired of the teasers, and @ElonMusk!!!
Are you a Tesla shareholder?
@@_nosikeuzoma1456 …an automobile enthusiast Becca!
@@maxwellmattison6224 do you own stocks with Tesla?
Going from 0 to 60 in less than one second requires how many Gs?
I think I saw 2.6!
@@johnreese3762 Thanks John.
We could just do the math ourselves if we used the metric system.
And how many 0-60 runs can you do before your tires are shredded?
SpaceX thrusters levitates
@@larryc1616More Elon nonsense
So why is it nonsense? Don’t you think you should wait to see whether or not this vehicle is even produced?
@@theodorehaskins3756 1) I suspect this is more Elon vaporware, 2) It can't really be classified as a car in the traditional sense, can it? Such a vehicle could not be licensed to operate on U.S. roads or highways. So, the 0-60 is an apples to alligators comparison.
@@ronin4580 So who’s arguing that?
I’m sure that there are some street legal cars that can go 0-60 in under 1 second, but they are highly modified. Now production car under one second. Big problem is traction. The roadster is gonna eat tires like crazy. Rubber has to be very soft.
SpaceX thrusters levitates the tires
So if you have to worry about tires, then you can’t afford the Tesla roadster with the space X package. Cheers 🥂
0-60 in under a second is going to be near impossible on untreated pavement. Maybe at a drag strip.
@@bobstanton6444 So however, they achieve it, 0 to 60 in one second is still 0 to 60 no matter what surface you happen to be driving on, but let’s be clear here, they never identified the surface area that they intend to demonstrate this on. Capeesh! Cheers 🥂
@@theodorehaskins3756 Are you trying to argue for the sake of arguing? I just merely pointed out it is going to be very difficult to achieve that in full street trim. Cannoli!!
0-60 in under 1 second if going to physically hurt.
Gone in 61 seconds.
I love the power and performance of Teslas and I have no doubt the Roadster will be impressive. However it will not go 0-60 in less than 1 second. Considering only one vehicle has done that recently that was electric and just barely so it should be obvious how difficult the ability to do so is.

What Tesla model do you own?
How long will it take Tesla to give away all the free ones it owes people. I think they owe about 100 free ones.
What Tesla model do you own?
I wish tesla would bring out a sports car on the base of the 3 .
....ahead of the roadster
Model 3 performance isn't sports car enough? 😂
I like where you’re going, but the Model 3 chassis is just too heavy to be my idea of fun in a sports car; quick and/or fast is not enough; light and nimble in feel is paramount.
Full disclosure: Even though I thoroughly enjoyed my ‘98 Boxster, I thought it was overweight at ~2,700 lb compared to my ‘73 914 2.0.
@@altosack the batteries in general will spoil it for you..
You would enjoy my 1984 fiat spider .
@@CHMichael - I’m a mechanical engineer, and I have conceptually designed many battery electric sports cars that are light, fun, and realistic. 2,200 lb, and 280-mile range is definitely doable; the market may be too small.
The Miata only exists because the design, amortization, and market were developed long ago; there are no new, similar, successful designs. The GR86 is the only attempt, and it’s not there in a number of ways.
@@theproffessional9 I'm purely going after looks .
Yea sure 😅
It’s the 60 to zero that might be more of a problem !
Any 6 caliper brakes should stop fine and without ease. It’ll probably have carbon ceramic brakes as well
Not with the SpaceX package. It will help with braking too!
Reverse thrusters
@@larryc1616 exactly ! If you go zero to 60 in under a second by the time you get your foot on the brake ( say another 3 tenths) you could be going 90 …. But I’m sure they’ll have an escape pod which can blast you out to safety
The real question is ..will we be able to afford it 😂😂😂😂😂
What Tesla model do you own?
So I’m not sure about the we aspect of your question, but I can tell you this, I can’t afford one, and even if I could, I wouldn’t buy one, and not because I wouldn’t want one, but because I’m not trying to kill myself. Cheers 🥂
@@theodorehaskins3756 have you heard about Tesla new innovation shares
@@theodorehaskins3756 we is referring to the normal household lol..I would love one but if it’s over 50k then it’s out of my league
@@user-vu2xd1fi3u So why do you think that you speak for these people? I mean, I don’t speak for anyone except myself, because I don’t represent anyone except myself, and so I let other people speak for themselves, because that’s their right to do, and they haven’t elected me to speak for them.
So I think it would be rather arrogant of me to even think that I understood what other peoples priorities are, but you seem have no problem assuming that you do. So why is that?
I don't get why Tesla is investing so much money and resources in such a just for fun project. There are more important things to develop than a car with jet engines -.-
It’s a revolutionary car which will take over the sports and hyper car market.

@@synthWizkid do you own a cyber truck
Wow… and more importantly… why?
Because he can and as a big middle finger to all the other car companies.
Why not
Math does not add up to achieve
We don't know enough about the SpaceX tech Tesla plans to use to do any math.
@jmp622 are you a mathematics professor? Just wait and see. They come through on most of what they say about their speed capabilities.
Alien tech would be required for the Tesla roadster to be able to fly and accelerate from zero to sixty in less than a second, while complying with the legal regulations for road vehicles. It might be able to do either one of those things, but not both at the same time, unless it only flies in a straight line or a curve until it touches the ground. And even if it could fly, it would surely have to stay above a certain height to avoid obstacles and collisions. Even with iron Man technology you have momentum and mass and velocity and all that working against the design of roads.
literally vaporware
Like the Cybertruck and Semi
TIL: Elon Musk doesn't use the long-in-the-making edit function on his paid account. 😆
Honestly though, at this point anything Musk says should be highly doubted. He's become an increasingly unreliable source of information, especially this yea
Everybody is building electric hyper-cars now and they all seem to exceed the Roadsters old stats. 0-60 is not the most important thing people look for in a car anymore. He should have lead with 1000 miles of range and 300mph top speed.
