That volleyball is a better actor than 98% of Hollywood
🏐
You’re so clever!!
Underated comment
volleyball ball
@@vladzignus2069 it’s a boy ball. So, volleyball ball balls
I genuinely don't understand why we don't see Wilson in more movies, such an underrated actor.
He was SO good in Top Gun!!!
He did make a cameo wirh Tom years later when Elton John hosted SNL.
This role left him quite deflated
He wasn't paid well enough ($) for this movie, and decided to go with a career in sports instead ..
@@waynecombs506 We are talking about the volleyball, yes?...
Movies centred on the human spirit are timeless.
Humans spirit as collective not individual…we are the most successful species to ever walked on this planet.
@@213kilacalisays you. i think the most successful title belongs to roaches/ants/reptiles/conifers
That's why most films today don't work. Cause they seek to destroy the human spirit.
Wilson's line at 4:37 really does make this scene. Underrated actor.
He do with .. 😮
lol
I always figured Wilson’s line in that moment was something to the effect: “Ha! That was what you used to say all the time back when you were an uptight, fat-ass FedEx manager.”
A true masterpiece that has stood the test of time and always will forever.
Indeed, the Port a Potty is a legend.
Wilson is a well-rounded actor.
Tom hanks is a pdf file
for a moment i forgot i was watching a clip of the movie. time to go watch the whole thing
This scene is the best thing to ever happen to bakersfield
"I'm not going back up there."
*goes back up there*
30 feet of extra rope.
I'm sure he was up there a lot trying to motivate himself to go through with his suicide. I'm sure there were a lot of horrible things he was thinking of
@@talkaboutwacky Yeah isolation fucks with your mind.
Wilson got him to lol
All the things we take for granted every day, he had to adapt to not having
Definitely the best updating/adaptation of Robinson Crusoe ever done.
Fun fact: the family in The Swiss family Robinson was not named Robinson. That is hardly a Swiss name. When Robinson Crusoe was published, it was a runaway international best seller. It, naturally, inspired other lost on a desert island books. These were called, as a group, "Robinsons". Thus, The Swiss Family Robinson is not the story about a Swiss family named Robinson but, rather, the Robinson about a Swiss family. The family is actually never named.
IIRC he had german roots and his ancestors were called "Kreuzner"
I like how he wakes up pissed off to tell the volleyball 🏐 to Shut Up! 😂
Tom hanks couldn't get a better best friend than a volleyball Wilson. Volleyball never lets tom hanks lay down... :)
When the rope turned into hope.

Nope
What a dope
John Bender was a dopehead.

This is watching Woody trying to figure out how to get back to Buzz and the rest of the Toys in Toy Story 5 😂
Chuck Noland was on the right flight.
One of my favorite movies 🎥 ❤
The volleyball should have been nominated for an Oscar
It's ironic that it was Wilson that kept him sane being alone on that island
How is it ironic?
We all need somebody.
I like this movie so much. Do you guys know any other movies Wilson played in? He is such a great actor! He sure knows how to make use of silence.
Castaway should of won every oscar golden globe AFI Hollywood land books
this movie deserves oscar tom hanks good actor
🏆
This was an amazing movie, gripping thoughout. I think the Academy awards made a huge mistake not giving this the credit it deserved. Wilson should have won an Oscar for his performance.
Genius
What’s truly lonelier … on an island alone or out at sea alone? I’d say sea

Guess Wilson didn’t have the balls too go up there
Anybody know if Wilson has acted in other films besides Cast Away ?
He acted in all 8 seasons of house m.d
When the wind knocked the thing over Chuck realised it could serve as a sail.
I think with one simple adjustment, the audio could become completely silent.
How Wilson didn't win best supporting actor I'll never understand
My sister was 5 when she first saw this movie and she didn't like when Chuck broke the video at 4:59
With everything going on in the US I would have stayed on the island lol
This was in 2000, life was much better back then. Before 9/11.
0:15 *”SHUT UP!!”*
Wilson, the kind of guy that would never push his political views like the rest of Hollywood.
3:02 The raft bounces and is suddenly assembled as the sticks hit it.
When he made Wilson, how come he imagines Wilson talking to him and he and Wilson have conversations?
But there was a major flaw in Cast Away…When Chuck found one of Pilots who washed ashore…Chuck Buried The Dead Pilot..But What I would have done..that would have provided and been truly helpful..to Chuck,..was The Dead Pilot’s Belt! It was 100% a Useful Tool in Aiding Chuck’s Survival…I was screaming at the screen..on why didn’t Director Robert Zemeckis or Tom Hanks think of that True Fact!
True then chuck’s loin cloth would have had less chance of awkwardly slipping off.
It was early in his stay at the island. Perhaps he overlooked the importance of a belt.
Not just his belt, but pretty much everything he was wearing. Fabric, in general, is an extremely useful thing to have in a survival situation. Wallet, coins, even plastic credit cards - all of it would've been useful.
Plastic card can scrape scales off fish..can cut small things, the pants could have been cut down to size, the pants and shirt and tshirt could have been used as tools also. When I seen the film many years ago..I wondered why Tom Hanks Character never thought of those helpful items. @@0megacron
Plus the shoestrings on the shoes, and on and on. ,
This isn't the only island Tom spent time on.... ;}

Wilson was so judgmental
If Chuck is alone on the island why did he bother wearing pants 😅
He didn't want those parts to get sunburned.
You don't want your family jewels catching on all that jungle vegetation or scraping the rocks on the shore... 😁
Because he’s a civilised man
I think I'll agree with the previous replies.
Not an area you skin cancer in
The way society has become, why would you ever want to leave an island that you have all to yourself.
Yeah 😊
As someone who has to routinely talk herself out of going to live in the mountains or on a tropical island, this is what stops me:
- Animal mites and possibly lice
- In the mountains I’d need a renewable source of clothing that isn’t animal skins.
That’s it. When my pets die, if I solve these two problems I’m out of here!
Steak? Lol
@@just_a_soul242 be sure you take plenty of medicine, bleach, Lysol & hydrogen peroxide.😊
What if it was Spalding?
In all reality there would have been human garbage all over every beach on the island. Much stuff would have been useful surviving and escaping the island. The film crew probably cleaned up the beaches for filming.
lmaoo
It probably washed away eventually in storms & high tides.
❤️
💔
Why could he not go up there, was this a missing scene?
He went there but found ur mom
He didn't want to go back up there because that is where he was going to commit suicide. But he tested if the log would hold first and it didn't. You learn that near the end of the movie.
POWER OVER NOTHING; keep breathing.

I heard that they are planning on making a reboot of Castaway.
Yeah, and apparently, in the reboot, Wilson will be a black lesbian.

He also said, "Life is like a box of chocolates." He's said a lot of stuff.
Yes, because the entire world and everything in it, including cinema entertainment, exists to be considered and viewed from only a partisan standpoint./s
How could he survive that long without proper food and equipment tho? Like, I know it's a movie but still it doesn't make much sense.
By the grace of God and Wilson's help of course.
He’s a smart guy, the island has coconut tress, frequent storms which means fresh water, there are crabs and fish, he has shelter, useful tools for chopping wood and feeding fires and also he has kept himself sane because of Wilson.
I’d say it makes pretty good sense that he’s lived this long. For the entirety of the rest of his life though? Doubtful.
You do realise it was based on a true story
I don't know if you noticed, but humanity did this 100,000 years ago... And the Neanderthals didn't even have Wilson 😂
How did humanity survive before supplies and equipment were a thing?
I was ambush divored recently. She filed for an order of protection first to get me ejected. A month later, all she had to do was sob in court, so I was ejected for 1 year.
In my apartment, the first thing I bought was a scottish croft sex doll.
She's my Wilson.
She saved my life.
Looked like somebody that was once stuck on that island like him thought about hanging there self cause he found some kind of log with a rope around it's neck
Chuck should’ve worked out a bit more while he was on the island. He had access to lots of protein.
But not fats.
@@Bigrignohio Protein builds muscle.
@@haroldkreye8770 Lack of fats means the body BURNS muscle for energy.
@@Bigrignohio You’re right, he should have eaten more coconut.
@@haroldkreye8770 Didn't you watch the movie? "Nature's laxative". Also TOTALLY unhealthy. Unfortunately he would not have had enough animals to eat. Veganism is a privilege of more developed food production systems.
Why has he turned caveman. The film was a good idea but really didnt make a lot of sense in parts.and why does he look so dirty when hes in and put of the sea every day. So many flaws.
🪨
Beacause he don't need to impress anyone
Chuck had nobody to impress, especially while being stranded ashore in complete isolation.
He was stranded there, alone, for four years. Most people tend to lose their minds in such situations, as Chuck did. As for looking so dirty, in situations like this, you quickly learn that being 100% clean is pointless and a waste of time and resources. Vanity has no place in isolation. Except for maybe narcissists.
Thats not dirt. Thats sunburn and salt rash.
The movie is based on Tom Hanks seeing how children lived on, and tried to escape from Epstein Island when he visited there.
When a movie makes you dumber for having watched it.
When a comment is snarky and doesn't explain the point it is trying to make.
@@strategicsage7694,
I suggest getting out more. You might learn something.
