While I love this film and have seen it more times than you'd imagine, it still wrecks me near the end... He opted for hope and survival for a sole reason. Then he succeeded and that reason is gone. Can't even imagine the anguish...
I always cry at the end…
This was a regular blockbuster rental in the early days of DVD.
"This was a regular Blockbuster rental."
Ngl I miss the blockbuster experience. I'd always pick up a bag of the coke bottle gummies to eat during the movie
Wilson got robbed for best supporting actor
No range 😂
Better than Jenny. 🤦
Lol😂😂😂😂
From Forrest Gump saving his buddies in Vietnam to surviving on an Island in Castaway, a two + year production, to landing on the Hudson and so many other films, Tom Hanks is the best actor EVER!
Big. He played a child so well. Bosom buddies still makes me laugh.
Who you never want to travel with. Don’t forget Captain Phillips…..😂
The Terminal is amazing too
Those movies all suck compared to the Burbs, the Man With One Red Shoe, and Bachelor Party
“He was a goddam war hero”
As a grown man now, seeing this scene... Damn Tom Hanks grows a fantastic beard! 👌
Most ships won't go anywhere near deserted Islands unless someone was stranded.
Poor guy left on a deserted island to riot.
Riot?
@@bedford4383he meant rot. The i and o keys are right next to each other on the keyboard. It was a mistroke. Get better at deductive reasoning and reading.

Quiet Riot.
Mama, he’s all crazee now. 🤪
One day someone is going to find this cave and be like “ok, how the hell did this get in here? How long ago?!”
Chuck fishing, I always a fish dinner every time I watch this scene. 0:00-1:22 🎣🎣
Wilson: "It wasn't me."
The long pan Zemeckis uses to look at the calendar and the cave is very similar to the long pan he uses to look at the clocks and Doc's place in BTTF.
Definitely one of my top 10 movies. And Tom stars in two of the others as well, Forrest Gump and the Green Mile.
Captain Phillips 😢
Bridge of Spies.
That fish had no idea what hit em…
i've gotta be honest. I've felt the same way chuck did during the pandemic. down in my basement, eating all by myself knowing that there were troubling times out there, but deep down, I had a desire to keep going.
Same here dude, and it was glorious! That was like the best year ever! No work, no forced social interactions, steady income from the government, living like a teenager again playing video games with friends all day, no sleep schedule, no obligations…damn I miss it🥹
My girlfriend already worked from home before the pandemic hit, and my daughter is an adult living on her own so no big change there either.
After working full time for almost 30 years at various jobs, it was nice to have some paid time off.
And yes, before you say it, I’m fully aware that I am in the minority with my opinion.
@@norcodaevwe are all paying for it now…..in spades. This was not really something that couldn’t be forseen. I knew there was going to be massive inflation as soon as the government mentioned it was going to pay people not to work. It was all a horrible mistake
@norcodaev couldn't agree more!! I felt exactly the same😊
@@Kittysoftpaws377 Right!! And now that I’ve/we’ve been back in the daily grind for a few years, I/we miss it even more.
I’m not saying I necessarily want another pandemic, but if one happened, and I was forced to stay at home for a year again, I wouldn’t be disappointed🤣
Hope you’re having a nice day, Kittysoftpaws.🥂
@@norcodaev i often joke that I could do with another lockdown 😉
Wilson: uh chuck?
Chuck: Shut up!
Wilson no I was about to say did you hear that.
Are you telling me that his girlfriend moved on got married and had a kid in 4 years?
yeah, most women can do that in weeks. 4 years is plenty of time
That’s the underlying story in this movie. She was already cheating on Hanks’ character with the guy she ended up with.
Yes… that’s why she’s the villain…
@@gogosupinsky7534 I missed that. Where was this in the movie?
@@bbk2601 The clues are there. Someone did a video pointing them all out.
He should have taken the controls of the FedEx plane and landed it safely. He's done it before with a different airline.
Very amusing.
Once on the island he was unlucky that almost all the parcels 📦 were duds. Couldn’t someone have sent a pair of spectacles 👓 (making fire 🔥), or a Swiss army knife 🔪 with saw 🪚 attachment to a nephew? A windup radio 📻 would have been nice, too. At night, where he was, he probably could get New Zealand or the Hawaii on the AM band.
Helen Hunt betrayed him after 4 short years. At least his truck had a fresh battery tho 😂
it's not betrayal if everyone thinks you fucking died
@@DaveDexterMusic But she didn't think he died. She said she knew he was alive and she had a plan to search for him.
@@RideAcrossTheRiverMaybe, but all her family and friends wore her down in the finish.
On the law of averages, she made the most practical decision. She moved on like 99 % of us would. 4 years is actually a goodly part of your life and in her 30s her bio clock ⏰ would have been ringing, if not screaming 🙀.
@@penguinvic9892 Maybe like she orchestrated the whole thing, eh.
I hope I will❤
Me when there’s no smoke about.
I forgot, John Miller in Saving Private Ryan.
I think this is an example of a movie ruined by the preview. It is a great movie, but imagine going into it not knowing if he made it off the island or not.
The title is "Castaway."
@MariaMartinez-researcher maybe elaborate on that?
@@MariaMartinez-researcherIt's actually Cast Away. Two words.
Did he cook the fish before eating?
Nope
Sushi
Not shown and maybe not known, is that he could of used half coconut shells 🥥 to cook things in, like soup, or boiling water. The shells 🥥 won’t burn provided there is liquid in them. Water need not be stirred, but soup or stew has to be.
In real life he’d of also eaten the migrating bird life 🦅.
I remember the gasps in the audience when the caption appeared onscreen.
I would expect that in four years his beard and hair would be much much longer
GOD LOVES YOU✝️❤️👑
It took him four years to get the fish .
He was better off on the island with wilson
If one of the packages had a windup radio 📻, Chuck probably would have stayed with Wilson after hearing the political news from America.
Chances are he may have had trouble getting a station during the day, but where he was at night on the AM band he probably could have gotten New Zealand or even Hawaii, etc.
In four years he couldn’t make a chair or table or hammock or start on a boat?
No sail yet. He found out the hard way trying to paddle that little inflatable raft over the surf.
With what tools?
@@RideAcrossTheRiverYou’re correct about the tools. If only he found a Swiss Army knife 🔪 with saw 🪚 attachment, in one of the packets. He’d have to be careful with it but I use mine all the time for all manner of things.
As to fire 🔥, he eventually made one but a pair of glasses 👓 may have made the job easier.
Most of the contents of the packets and parcels 📦 were useless to him, but he made the most of them.
@@penguinvic9892 And a gift certificate to Home Depot cause, like, they're everywhere eh.
way to wake up sassy in the morning there, woody. 2:46
Yo hubiese hecho fuego en las noches cuando pasará un buque cerca. Y de día mucho humo.
really sad , what happened here, I mean wilson didn't stand a chance :)
Tom's familiar with a few islands lately it seems...
Is he now? Do you have actual evidence of that, as in, his name on the flight logs instead of a meme?
@@KarnakActualCan you believe how people were so incredibly quick to believe that crap?
@@joewhitehead3 Unfortunately, yes I can. People tend to be more than willing to check their brains at the door when it comes to politically motivated conspiracies that fit their paradigm .
@@KarnakActual Too juicy for them to deny, right?
Why does he eat raw fish when he has fire????
Maybe he fancied a Japanese takeaway
Sushi
Y después de 4 años, seguía comiendo pescado crudo?.
You would think after four years he would have a better setup for fire, cooking, etc. Instead he is just ripping a raw fish apart and eating it.
I think it was just him giving up slowly but surely. He had lost all hope at that point and was just doing the same thing day after day.
@@willhull1735 Probably right. It would just seem after four years he would have had a little more "Infrastructure" set up. But after I while, I guess it would seem hopeless.
It’s more realistic
@@willhull1735 He had more of a drive to stay alive at the beginning, because he probably thought he would get rescued so made more effort to make fire but after being on an island for so long he probably thought "What's the point in bothering".
It was a healthy diet except for the absence of vitamin A.
Fish liver.
Is he on Epstein island?
No, he's actually on Mounoriki island on Fiji.
You’re not suggesting Wilson was not legal are you?
@@penguinvic9892 no, why?
It was interesting to me when he got saved. they say we got this huge homecoming party for you. so later he goes and all the food at the party was seafood. he just came home after eating nothing but seafood for four years .out of everything they could have got they get all seafood. people have no brains I swear.
That part is probably realistically insensitive, however the dietitian may of had a hand in this. i.e. he us used to high seafood diet, 🍔 & 🍟 just might kill him …
Looks like he gained weight on the island.
All the fat mutton birds maybe?
Raw fresh fish it is delicious wife at home America teacher
Πουτααααναααααα!!!
Cee yeah yes tweet A WAY😂😂😂😂
Tom Hanks, a man that likes petting young kitties!
What??
000000000000000000
My mum found a new man within a year after divorce you’d be surprised
He didn't get much done in 4 years. Did he sit on his butt the whole time crying for his woman? My cave would have at least had a door.
This movie is so f'n stupid.
Don't project yourself on this film please
Your taste in movies must suck then, because this movie is fucking amazing Hanks is incredible in this masterpiece.
