I was in high school in the late 80's and used to day dream about owning a GT. Finally bought a 93 GT in 2004 and it still puts a smile on my face every time I walk up to it or start it up. The only car I've ever owned that is a conversation piece every time I drive it. Can't tell you how many people have asked me to call them first if I ever decide to sell it (which I won't).
@KASLCustoms I BOUGHT MY VIBRANT RED 93 COBRA BACK IN 05 WITH 19 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES AND ALL ORIGINAL FOR 17GRAND AND TODAY I HAVE 22 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES AND ALL ORIGINAL AND I THINK THE PRICES WILL CONTINUE TO GO UP.
Just bought a garage kept 1990 Mustang GT convertible. It had 187,000 miles but it was only one car owner and the lady said it was just sitting. It was an honor to buy it from her.
Bought my 5th Fox last month. 1992 54k orig. mile, 2 owner, Calypso hatch 5.0 5spd, orig. paint/orig. gray interior. I guess I fall into the SOL category since I paid $22,500, BUT, It's mine and I'm happy. :)
Glad to see 10 to 15 I just did a full dash, carpet, remove and deep clean sanded any thing scary and painted the internals. I owned it 8 years and put more than 10k into it but need money back now. The build was gt40 build with all the bolt ons and brand new racing shocks ,struts, springs, black interior. I had bought a on3 turbo kit, trick flow hci kit, mega squirt pcm, and alot more. I hate to see it go since my dad and I built the engine together, but I experienced the greatest mustang ever made.
If new high horsepower ones are 50k+ and all the other associated costs with new ones like insurance taxes and such I think that interest will prevail as even older 200hp versions can be just as much fun to own and drive and leave enough funds to modify as you might like.
Right on the money, I looked for a while for mine and really wanted a Capri so in one sense, yes I paid a bit too much but on the other hand I got what I wanted (for the most part) and I certainly won't loose any money if I for some reason loose my mind and decide to sell it. I suspect there will be some good deals out there for those who have patience and know what they're looking for.
I'm looking for an 87-93 gt or lx hatch, auto, no mods, 70-100k mile range. Had 2 5.0 foxes in my life, I'm 46, looking for a 3rd! Still waiting for the right deal. Great video as always!
One problem is that a lot of these cars are not surviving the decades well. Most people did not garage them/ not drive them in salt. And so they are rotted and having major issues. You just dont see them anymore. Mine(88 lx vert heads cam intake race chip dyno tuned) is between a bubble wrap and sunday driver. I put like 1000km a year give or take and its very well maintained. Not sure what its worth but I wouldn't even entertain anything under 35k. The curb appeal is massive. Best bang for your buck car maybe ever.
Not going to lie I'm of the latter group, bought mine in 2020 after helping a buddy do a full resto sold it to me when money got tight(priced well below market) and I'm now shopping for a vert just to piss the misses off.

Stuck with me when I got into stances cars that couldn't go anywhere, now it's lowered trucks with cams and built foxbodies so she's trooper. Investors, auto brokers, and auto auctions ruined them... I agree what you said though.. 10 to 15k is what these cars should go for.. and that being a really really nice one.... more affordable prices keep the hobby alive... not crazy prices for a cheap car...
Crazy prices for the Foxbody is good as long as it doesn’t stay that way it makes them sought after and valued A foxbdy that was probably going to the junkyard is going to be restored now
The 3-4 minute mark is dead on. I literally wrote that up in a more lengthy way, a couple weeks ago in a fox FB group. HOWEVER, I don't think prices will go down, because I don't think most folks grasp the true prices. Everyone on FB loves to comment. A fox is posted, 45 replies and the post is deleted by the seller 48 hours later. Did it sell? What did it sell for? No one really knows except two people. :) You have way too many people stuck in 2002 and don't know actual prices. I also don't think anyone really overpaid in 2022. I mean there's a lot of variables. Stock, modded, full out race car? Hatch, notch, vert? Color? MIleage? If someone wants to relive their HS days and finder a white 87-89 GT with grey interior, with mild boltons within 4 hours of their house.. how many more like that would they find if they passed on that one because they think the seller wants about a grand more than it should be? Maybe zero. When you want specifics, you'll have to pay. That's one factor that can push a value up to a single buyer, and that's all it takes. You'll still get Joe Doe say he got a GT just like that for 4K cheaper... but a different color, it's a 92, airbag wheel thus, red interior, and has a carbed 306.
Also what added to the problem was the chip shortage which caused the used car market to go up in value. Newer cars were harder to come by so people held on to their older cars longer.
I bought a 93 vert off this old gent in Sarasota Florida. He bought it for his wife who use it to go to the beach, play tennis, grocery shopping…… Old boy was mortified for me to drive the car 3 hours south. He says it never once been on the highway let alone 8 miles outside of Sarasota…..
@@KASLCustoms sooo unfortunately it cost a fortune to repair a new vehicle if something goes say a ABS module. I have a beautiful gmc terrain and they want a mint to replace it and reprogram it…. Just for an ABS module. It’s easier for me to rebuild my mustang considering half the BS that’s on cars today were not on a fox 30 years ago. What’s the difficulty level on rebuilding an engine for a beginner?
Foxes, Irocs, GTAs are the new muscle cars of Gen X. At this point a classic 60s/70s Mustang like I’d like is out of my budget. It’s what we used to call a mid life crisis car. It’s exactly like you said and a car I could only dream of in high school.
@@KASLCustoms one thing I’ve tended to use as my gauge of the market it 93 Cobras. I’ve noticed as of late that prices are finally coming down on them. I agree in the fact that the flippers had their fun. I also think with a possible bad market coming the fair weather buyers my be looking to unload to free up some cash. I still have a hard time seeing $60k+ Cobras. There are to many on the market to justify the prices..
I had a bunch of foxbodies and never would have imagined they would be hard to find but they kinda are in stock shape at least. You for got to mention cars for clunkers in the early 2000’s in the USA. I’m not sure if Canada had this but the government was giving everyone $5k for their junkers to buy new cars and the junkyards were full of foxbodies going to the crusher. I tried buying some but the junkyards were not aloud to sell them after the paycheck was sent out. Love my 91 strawberry gt and will never get rid of it. It’s a time machine just sitting in it and reminiscing the late 90’s
Thanks for sharing! I don’t remember Canada doing anything along those lines but I also grew up in a very small town so it may have missed us. It was a big day when subway sandwiches moved to town 😂. Yup, I agree 💯
Great video Brother! I agree with your view point 💯👊🏾 Back in 1987 after graduating high school I bought my first Fox… Mustang LX 5.0, No AC, No rear defroster, 5-Speed and basic radio for just under 10k brand new! Wish I would have kept it. 🥲 But as you know I am back in the Fox Game deep and I am here to stay! 💯👊🏾
I just bought a 91 convertible fox 5.0 5speed a week ago for 2500 dollars. It needs some things but overall is in good condition. Sat a year, still runs and drives good. Only needs brakes(pads and a front line piece on passenger wheel) and I’m replacing convertible top right now. Good purchase I think?
I feel like at one point during the pandemic, every market was valued at an all time high, and then as inflation started to kick in, The economy shifted in such a way where you now have less people spending money on toys. Foxbodies may not be as cheap as they used to be, but the reality hobby cars in general have become more expensive
On the short term, the prices on Fox Body mustangs may slide down a bit. But, on the long term (15-20 years) the price on the Fox Mustangs is going to go through the roof. And here's why, go to any Cruise Nite and most of the classic car owners (Chevelle's, '69 Z 28 Camaros, GTO's, and Mopars) are over 55 years old. In 15-20 years these same car owners will be pushing 70 years old and will not be buying classic cars. In fact, most will put their cars up for sale. In 20 years, most of the current classic cars from the 1960-70's willbe worth only a fraction of what they are worth today. In other words, the Classic Car market will be flooded with way more cars than there will be buyers. And they keep restoring more every year! Now, as you mentioned in this video, your age group always wanted the Fox Mustang. And they will get to a point in their life (very shortly) where they can afford an extra week-end car. And I also believe that the prices on the convertible Fox Bodies will take off and surpass the GT and the NotchBack. And here is why- The same thing happened with the 1963-67 Corvette and many other Muscle Cars from the 1960's-70's. When those cars were new, everyone wanted a hardtop for better performance. But, fast forward to now, all those senior classic car owners want an open air roadster. So, my prediction is that the convertible Fox Body Mustangs in GT or at least 5.0 trim, will be the most collectible Fox Body in the future. nts and
Shit dood, we bought these car NEW, back in the day for high teens, low 20s. It's nuts now. My friends and I all bought these things back in the day and modified the shit out of them. The car was a blank slate to make anything you wanted out of it. In 2018, I pulled a stripper Sand Beige coupe 1986 out of a JY, a rusty 1988 GT 5 speed with lots of aftermarket parts and built a whole car, running and driving, for $4650....Canadian.
I’m only 23, bought mine right as covid happened. I just like older cars and mustangs in general though, so I combined the two and ended up with a Fox. Look way better than any modern mustang, less electronics to go wrong, straight forward to work on yourself, think I was born in the wrong generation honestly. 😅
This is a very good video. I do think the foxbody prices are going to drop. Alot of the cars that are out there now people think because "its a notch" that it automatically makes it worth some crazy amount, when in reality its some hacked up shitbox ls swap junk or clapped out carb swapped shitbox. I think everyone is tired of seeing this and the market will show.
Great video and articulation as always!....and I do agree with all valid points including the kooling off of prices in 2023. Sounds like were on the same page. Have a great day!! 🦊🏁
I'm still happy I got my 89 LX hatchback last year for $3,000 USD. I'm seeing 4 cylinder cars for that much these days. But I do see those cars listed for longer and longer... They're not selling as fast for those prices.
This video defines exactly what I went through. Bought a clean built 86 Notch. Added lots of time and money. Nobody in my family likes it and wife wants it out of the basement. Thinking about selling.
Prices drop but when ya gotta go threw the motor or do bunches of work to these cars ya gotta get paid before you unload the car.... or it's not worth it..always been my frame of mind....
As a builder and fox fan I am happy. The prices from facebook fake fox guys were insane. Ive been saving them since the 90s. No douche who drives a Prius needs to swindle guys on facebook for a roller notch that costs 8k. FING IGNORANT. Fake interest guys ruined the scene. Notches shouldn't be 15k clean and Cobras shouldn't be 25k plus. Its disgusting. Some idiots are paying 25k plus for my feature. Its a 5k car all day. I want to buy heads, and cams, and parts for normal prices. Guys want 2500 for a cobra intake with a shitty paint job now. They pay to change their oil.
Can’t get a 20 year old rusty Civic where I’m from, let alone a clean classic fox for 5k. A car is going to be worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Some dudes are definitely overhyping the prices while others are still trying to live in the past. Everything has skyrocketed in price these past few years. Including clean foxbody mustangs. People shouldn’t be bothered one way or the other. We can’t control inflation and prices. Only what we spend our money on. $2500 for a cobra intake though 😆
Great video ... I had like five foxbodys since 2001 1st 88 gt 89 gt 92 notchback 91 SSP notchback F.B.I car. Sold a 91 SSP notchback Florida police interceptor two months before covid for really no money ....... So I recently bought my first four eyes 86 convertible for $7k I love it..... My question is I'm looking for another four eyes hatchback or another 90s notchback for investment purposes you're wearing that the prices are going to be way out of my league like I'm seeing right now lol. .... Is now a good time to buy .. or should I wait ? .... And what is a good price point and what is the good car to buy that will go up are the four eyes cars .? Are most likely to notchback cars but lot of them were V8 swap ...... Any info would be great ty
This market I'm in, Vancouver BC. Lots for sale for big money but we're not seeing any changing hands. Guys are just fishing for $$. GT's are still available under 10K, coupes should come back down to earth soon. With 9.9% lease rates on new sports cars, crazy inflation and mortgage rates. It's all going to trickle down, everyone will put the brakes on spending. There is a chance fox body prices will come back to 2019 prices, back to $1000 4 eyed coupes. Oh ya.
Excellent video, points and well thought out explanations. I enjoy watching your videos since I first subscribed a few days ago. We are close in age and can relate to the high school days. Had a couple of sweet fox bodies and sold my last ‘93 LX for $7k back about 17 years ago and regret it now. Hope you’re right about the prices cooling off and hoping to get a clean turn key car with some tasteful upgrades for about $15k. Thanks again and keep making these great ti watch videos 👍
Thanks buddy! I really appreciate it. Your story is a very common one. I’m sure glad I held onto mine. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you that one pops up 🤞🤞🤞
hey there so need an opinion, goodyear doesn't make 245 45 17R any longer , trying to keep original or the same tire thread, any suggestions which tires to get?
By the way I'm in West Florida and the market here is ridiculous this past year... For me not only is it hard to get a nice one not all hacked up.. what the prices are unrealistic to me this year
Good day Gary, hope you’re doing well I agree with you in some but do not forget those cars are in deman worldwide I can’t count how many foxbody I imported to Middle East since 2005 till now still we have high demand in Middle East for clean foxbody
Hello sir! Yes that is a very good point. I wish I had more information on the Middle East market. We have been trying to get someone to come on our podcast and discuss it with us. Maybe you are interested? Please let me know as I would really appreciate it 🙏
Social media hype, anyone one that owned one since the 90s know its only sentimental value and there cheap tin cans in real life. Going to be alot of people holding the bag on a a lot of spit shined cars... All ready seeing flippers crying and dropping there prices little by little by me. I'd like to pick up another coupe but flippers still list rot boxes for 10k still lol.
It would be nice to see these cars come back down to Earth... in 2004 I bought a nice '89 LX 5.0 5-speed notch for $4000... mostly stock with the usual Flowmasters and 3.73 Trac-Loc upgrades, as well as a set of Pony wheels and GT seats. It was a great car for $4000, but at today's asking prices? Hmm...
The only way im ever getting rid of mine is if im offered some crazy trade like an 03/04 cobra or a low mileage 98 cobra or like a early 2000s ws6. Im only 21 and have already put too much time, money and effort into it lol. Way more than what most people my age would put into their first car. But in all seriousness, I love my car way too much to just up and sell it.
If my mugen wasn’t a 4 door I’d sell it to buy another mustang. I enjoy the high rpm collector Honda with 4 doors but the 2021 Mach 1 and the gt350 are so sick. I just wish I had the room.
I’d be happy just to be able to afford a 79-82 straight six or V8 hatchback without rust issues and isn’t heavily modified. Darn Lyme disease has really messed up my life.
@@KASLCustoms thank you! I am out of my league and trying to not get swindled. Used to work on cars 2 decades ago and hoping to do the same with my kids now. Foxbody seems like a great way to go
Good analysis, basically to sum up there is a simple reason Fox Body Mustangs became overpriced: "A fool and his money are soon parted." 1.) The FB was treated as a commodity to be flipped by price speculators looking to make a quick buck. 2.) Impatient buyers didn't recognize the inflated pricing bubble, kept throwing more money at them and paid more than they should. 3.) Some people bought extra FB to store as a future investment, parts car to supply the market, making even 4 cylinder rollers worth more than they should be. It became like a feeding frenzy, buyers were traveling around searching everywhere to get in on the craze. That created a hype train along with the proliferation of TH-cam channels about it. Some people made good money off of people's naivety.
"A fool and his money are soon parted." No. Way. That's a Chevy or Dodge buyer. Nobody loses money on a Fox as long as they keep it in good condition. I bought My 1991 'vert GT for 5K 15 years ago. What's it worth today? I bought my 1993 Cobra for 14K in 2001. What's it worth today? Both cars are in great condition, though the Cobra is now a 347 stroker with other tasteful mods. Now, how much would any Dodge or Crapmaro of the same era be worth?
Someone PLEASE message me when these cheap ones start showing up on the market. I'm watching Fourbanger Autos go for 5k. Here's a big question for my Fox family. If convertibles are made from coups. why can't I just change one of my convertibles to a coupe? which one would you guys convert? 91 medium red with scarlet interior GT vert or 90 strawberry over titanium with gray interior GT vert?
I’m still waiting to finish the deal, but have had a 1988 LX 5.0 convertible in our driveway for a month now. Total price when the deal is done is cheap to me lol
There going to go down but not by much there goin to be in the middle still going to be somewhat pricey but I don't see them being a steal anymore and finding one for 500 to 1000 bucks
I sold a really clean 89 GT with lots of tasteful mods in 2006 for 4k. Bought a clapped out 89 GT that needed EVERYTHING in 2022 for 4k. My how the turn tables....
Gary I agree with some of what you’re talking about but some of it is like you’re calling your car a piece of s!@t… Keep in mind when the buyers market goes up it makes your beautiful green notch more valuable to others… for you it’s definitely valuable but to others a Fox body is a what if…. In my book Gary , I hope people get these cars and enjoy them like the old 68 and 69 Camaro and Chevy chevelle and old fast back mustangs that was 4000 dollars brand new and now look how much they bring… I was that guy in high school with a 93 Fox body GT And to me I say yes finally everyone sees how fun these cars are. That’s why I follow you and subscribed to your channel… but when you bash talking them I don’t really agree. These Fox body in my opinion is the best platform to make go fast with the new coyote engines and LS engines also with Hemi engines… These cars are bad ass and the new generation are making them more impressive and faster than our generation could ever. I also own a black notch and a white hatch and to me they are not for sale but it makes us Fox body lovers proud to see others appreciate what we grew up with,
Hey Rob. Sorry you took it that way, I wasn't trying to bash them at all! In all honesty I'm not sure what I said to make you think that? At any rate, I agree with you 100%. Thank you for taking the time to write up such a good summary! Take care my friend!
Prices can do what they will but when I have to go threw a motor or do a buncha work and spend money on a Fox then can't take a bath on the car when it's for sale... gotta get paid and it is what it is... as with any other muscle car or 4x4.. its all the same deal.... not losing money on this stuff.... i won't do it.... 😉
I appreciate the video, that said, I think there is a federal law somewhere about NOT putting spoilers on notchbacks..... You are clearly in violation.
Yo where do I get a roll bar for my 93 Lx conv/ that I can fully recline my seat ( absolute necessity ) I figure I ask here... 😎 🤙 PS: don't so much feal for em...
@@florimshala1 Thanks bro, it is an absolute goal of mine to obtain that exact model fox. It is a beauty my friend. One day I’ll join you. For now I’m on the path on finding one in good shape.

Here's the thing; todays cars are too refined and fat. Even the GT's of today are too heavy, and you feel that. Driving a Fox is just that... driving. Driving a modern muscle car is like sitting in your comfy couch and being sling-shot. There's just no instant "OMG the world is coming to an end!" like there is when you hit the throttle on a Fox. I mean, could you imagine, Ford comes out with a < 3,500LB 2 seater that has no nanny features and just raw power and balance? Nope, we get a GT that weighs as much as an F150 pickup truck and has an engine that has to spin to the moon to make enough power to get it moving...
@@KASLCustoms Same thing the real estate couch qb's who have priced themselves out of the market waiting for that pop since about 2015. He says it never once been on the highway let alone 8 miles outside of Sarasota…..
LOL thats awesome!
True. It’s not too bad?

Yup, I agree 💯
firebird trans am missing at 3:10 lol just having fun nice video!!!
Hahaha well said bud 😉👊
I believe the value still will creep up, So may of these cars still getting hacked up for racing and LS swapped.
I agree, I think they will just slow down for the next little bit however I think the craze is far from over!
I believe you are correct on this. I feel lucky to have bought my notchback this year, 2022, for under 5k 😊🙏🏼
Thanks buddy! Wow thats a good deal!!!
10 all day in Canada and that’s if your lucky . Seen some at 15-20 k with tasteless body mods

Hahaha yessir! Thx buddy!
Yes that sounds like a heck of a deal!
I feel like at one point during the pandemic, every market was valued at an all time high, and then as inflation started to kick in, The economy shifted in such a way where you now have less people spending money on toys. Foxbodies may not be as cheap as they used to be, but the reality hobby cars in general have become more expensive
Yes good point
You nailed it…. Everything you said is fact
Thanks buddy!
So, my prediction is that the convertible Fox Body Mustangs in GT or at least 5.0 trim, will be the most collectible Fox Body in the future.

well said
Shit dood, we bought these car NEW, back in the day for high teens, low 20s.
Hahahaha I know right!?
I’m only 23, bought mine right as covid happened. I just like older cars and mustangs in general though, so I combined the two and ended up with a Fox. Look way better than any modern mustang, less electronics to go wrong, straight forward to work on yourself, think I was born in the wrong generation honestly. 😅
😂👊👊👊
This is a very good video. I do think the foxbody prices are going to drop. Alot of the cars that are out there now people think because "its a notch" that it automatically makes it worth some crazy amount, when in reality its some hacked up shitbox ls swap junk or clapped out carb swapped shitbox. I think everyone is tired of seeing this and the market will show.
Thx buddy!!
Not selling my 1993 LX convertible. Got it a few years ago ($14000) but its nice to know the numbers 💪🏾💪🏾. LOVE YOUR CARS BRO 💯💯
Thank you!!
Great video and articulation as always!....and I do agree with all valid points including the kooling off of prices in 2023. Sounds like were on the same page. Have a great day!! 🦊🏁
Thx so much buddy! Same to you 🙏👊
I'm 36 and finally got the 86 gt t top I've always wanted haha
I'm still happy I got my 89 LX hatchback last year for $3,000 USD. I'm seeing 4 cylinder cars for that much these days. But I do see those cars listed for longer and longer... They're not selling as fast for those prices.
Good find! Yes its so true
This video defines exactly what I went through. Bought a clean built 86 Notch. Added lots of time and money. Nobody in my family likes it and wife wants it out of the basement. Thinking about selling.
Oh no…. That sucks buddy!
😮
I definitely see the prices dropping and the high priced ones lingering unfortunately
Yeah I think that will be the case for a little longer. Hang tight 😉
I think you should hang tight for the next 12 months and see what happens. I think you’ll be glad you did 😉
This market I'm in, Vancouver BC. Oh ya.
hahahaha we can all hope 😉. Well said and thanks for weighing in buddy 👍
I don’t think
It’s going down a new generation of kids are coming up and more people are retiring and both sides want to spend
Hope they start dropping to 5k-7k for a solid daily
Gez, I’m not sure bud. It’s been a long time since I ordered tires…
By the way I'm in West Florida and the market here is ridiculous this past year... For me not only is it hard to get a nice one not all hacked up.. what the prices are unrealistic to me this year
Good day Gary, hope you’re doing well
I agree with you in some but do not forget those cars are in deman worldwide I can’t count how many foxbody I imported to Middle East since 2005 till now still we have high demand in Middle East for clean foxbody

Good luck! I have one, and it ain't going down in price brother! It just gets to be more, and more fun!
Hmm...
Yeah it’s true! Especially for those of us that want to buy more 😉
Demands growing and supply is dwindling. Prices won’t come down.
The only way im ever getting rid of mine is if im offered some crazy trade like an 03/04 cobra or a low mileage 98 cobra or like a early 2000s ws6. Im only 21 and have already put too much time, money and effort into it lol. Way more than what most people my age would put into their first car. But in all seriousness, I love my car way too much to just up and sell it.
well said!
If my mugen wasn’t a 4 door I’d sell it to buy another mustang. I enjoy the high rpm collector Honda with 4 doors but the 2021 Mach 1 and the gt350 are so sick. I just wish I had the room.
Where are you from cause not in Cali....prices have doubled for buckets
I’d be happy just to be able to afford a 79-82 straight six or V8 hatchback without rust issues and isn’t heavily modified. Darn Lyme disease has really messed up my life.
Where is a good place to buy one?
local classifieds - you need to keep your eye peeled all the time as you never know when a good one will pop up
@@KASLCustoms thank you! I am out of my league and trying to not get swindled. Used to work on cars 2 decades ago and hoping to do the same with my kids now. Foxbody seems like a great way to go
I think they will sit at their current state for a while, perhaps come down a bit. But they won't stay there. They will go up again.
I agree 👍

Thanks buddy! LOL I couldn't agree more!
Gary
I agree with some of what you’re talking about but some of it is like you’re calling your car a piece of s!@t… Keep in mind when the buyers market goes up it makes your beautiful green notch more valuable to others… for you it’s definitely valuable but to others a Fox body is a what if….
