Matthias Lehner=Arthas Menethil (anagram). And it's the model from the Warcraft games. The kid *is* his heart. Because, clearly this story just had to be *more* tragic than it already was... Only game where I've ever cried after killing a boss. The suffering he inflicted on the world was trivial compared to what he did to himself. And uh, we didn't kill the Lich King, just like we didn't kill C'Thun. We took out Arthas and replaced him with Bolvar. There is still a Lich King (and he's gonna show up in Legion!) We just knocked out C'Thun, and slaughtered his minions. If you kill an Old God, the land gets all destroyed and stuff. C'Thun could still pop up again, though he'd have a bit of a challenge. But no way did a bunch of level 60s kill him.
We did kill him. The quest from the item he drops describes him as dead. In a comic, Cho'Gall attempts to resurrect him, meaning he's dead. When the devs were asked at blizzcon 2010 about why the land hadn't been destroyed, they said "Did you play Cataclysm? You know, where the world blows up...because of the Old Gods." He's dead. So is Yogg Saron.
Blizzard keep changing their lore though. Recently it's been said the Old Gods cannot die, or at very least, not the way anything else does. They are neither alive nor dead, they literally are cancer to Azeroth. We've recently found out that Yogg-Saron isn't truly dead and his influence still lingers in Ulduar.
Tyragon Yogg is dead. He still has influence, but so does the very dead Y'Shaarj, and so does C'Thun. Even when Old Gods die, they have a level of influence.
Awkward Squirtle yogg and all the other old gods were never properly alive. This has been well-established since Wrath. It wasn't made crystal clear prior to that however thus some people thought that we'd actually killed C'Thun. But it has since been established that 1) we aren't nearly powerful enough to take down an Old God and 2) that you can't kill an Old God in the usual sense, only remove it. But Tyragon 's analogy is a good one. You can't kill the Old God, just like you can't "kill"cancer. It isn't a being unto itself: it is a corruption of the mechanisms of life. What we did in Pandaria effectively means that Y'Shaarj no longer exists. Aman'thul ripped him out of the planet: and then we cleansed his remaining influence. You can't "kill" an Old God, but you can eradicate it. Wipe it from existence: if you have the power of a titan, a huge army, and the twenty five heroes of the Alliance and Horde.
Too bad Garrosh was the shittiest Warchief any Horde could ever have. This coming from a Hordie. Hell, even the Legion wouldn't make him a leader, but Thrall did -.-
Great video, although there were a few small mistakes with the summary of the cataclysm version of the Mismantle quest. The first is that it’s actually a sequel of sorts to the original quest chain from Classic, and the second is that Stalvan was not a worgen, he was just so delusional that he tried comparing himself being a murderous psychopath to being afflicted with the worgen curse like his brother Tobias (who worgen players can meet in their starting zone before & after he gets infected) is.
Is their some sort of love connection between Cromush and Sylvanas?? He seemed genuinely devestated when she died, Fix her, FIX HER. This is totally head canon for me now. Shippin' it
+Zehta He butchers a lot of names in ALL of his videos, not just this one. It literally blows my mind how somebody who makes so many videos about WoW can pronounce so many of the names in it so blatantly wrongly, but eh, then again, I don't have dyslexia, so maybe I'm not meant to understand.
I think you misread the new version of Stalvan. He didn't suffer the worgen curse which caused the massacre. Rather, Stalvan taunts his relative with the worgen curse that he also "has a beast inside of him" like Stalvan does metaphorically. He was justifying that everyone's really a beast like he was in life, regarding his psychotic breakdown and murders.
my favorite is the dwarven wedding questline in twilight highlands. you gotta do the whole zone to get there but you end up exaulted with the wildhammer dwarves and you can buy their tabard.
Little heavy on the jokey Cata quests, but I can certainly agree on liking the Bravo Company quest despite the rambo references, it felt like you were meaningfully sabotaging an actual war effort and making a real difference. Plus I've always liked both the Dark Horde and Gnolls so the Dark Horde teaming up with two tribes of Gnolls was cool.
The Rhok'Delar quest chain is by far my favorite in WoW. Everything about it seemed so epic. A LOT of work went into even getting the quest. I recall each fight very clearly. It was almost 20 years ago, but those moments are locked into my mind. I recall "jousting" Franklin. A technique we hunters would use to run directly at an enemy, through them, and wingclip as we did so. Then proceed out to range, autoshot, scorpid sting as he got close, joust, and continue. I also recall that the demons were not always "up". So members of the guild would message things like "Simone is up in Un'Goro." I recall getting a call from a friend at 2:00 am saying, "Artorus is up in Winterspring, hurry up and get online!" Showing up for our Molten Core raid that week with Rhok'Delar felt so good.
For me the silverpine forest is the ultimate proof that sylvanas has become maybe even worse than the scourge, she is raising death against they will, enslaving them ( like with the kirin tor mage). Godfrey is a treatous and racist bastard, but he is right on this point: Something should have be done a long time ago.
None of the undead raised by the Forsaken are enslaved; they're free to go back to the grave or leave and work for another faction so long as they do not directly oppose the Forsaken. The undead working with the Argents are largely those who were raised by the Forsaken but decided that they did not belong there.
Yeah, I'm sure that's the Kirin Tor mage who fight in the silverpine forest, get kill and ressurect and are like "FOR SYLVANNAS" are not mind control scourge style at all.
''It MUST be evil! Why would someone from the Kirin Tor, which in the past included people like Kel'Thuzad who became the Lich King's most trusted advisor, ever serve someone who gives them a -choice-?''
I play a Forsaken, many actually. All Forsaken are given the choice to serve. Given the choice. Mostly, all the corpses Sylvanas brings back are willing because, lets be real here, Blizzard couldn't have you go to EVERY single new undead to help reassure them, so it was easier to just have them accept becoming Forsaken. In reality, though, probaly 2/3 actually go to becoming Forsaken, with the rest either choosing to do their own thing or go back to being dead. This all being said, Sylvanas is a massive bitch for playing the Arthas card with Crowley.
You've obviously never levelled an Undead. At the start there are resurrected people saying they'd rather be dead, and die again. Also you put down an uprising of Forsaken that didn't wanna serve Sylvanas. There's no mind control involved.
The Silverpine Forest chain-quest is one of my favorite too. Another is the one from the Stonetalon Mountains. Before Cata it was one of the most ignored area in the game, they did good with it.
I can’t believe you didn’t cover at least ONE of the quest chains in Storm Peaks: the Thorim confronting Loken quest chain, or the Alliance-only fate of Muradin quest chain. They are each individually worth the 5000g you need to get epic flight so that flight around Storm Peaks doesn’t take all day; together, it’s a bargain for lore hunters like me!
I totally agree. Silverpine Forest has my most favorite questline and is still interesting even after doing it like 5 times. Sylvanas is my favorite lore character and doing quests for her and seeing her killed at the end had me in shock the first time. Good video,
Connor Walsh - She was referring to when Arthas refused to give her a 'clean death', and instead ripped out her soul and turned her into a banshee. She had no choice in her undeath. And honestly, even if Arthas was able to just stroll into Silvermoon, it's unlikely he wouldn't have simply killed and raised the citizens.
The Silverpine questline gave me a "voice-crush" on Sylvanas... it sounds weird, but what I mean is that I really love the voice-acting done for all of Sylvanas' parts.
I love how Sylvanas never dismounts throughout Silverpine quest chain, like the Arthas sprite in WCIII. Absolutely love Silverpine and Hillsbrad quests and ambiance, two of the best written maps in WoW.
Seeing this makes me a little sad, because back in in vanilla when I started playing I just ran through the world leveling and not reading quest texts. All I wanted to achieve was getting my character to level 60. There were so much details I missed because of that. The world was so wonderfully crafted with so much love and passion to detail and me as a 14 year old just ran through it without noticing most of the worlds jokes, innuendos and lore. It was STILL one of the best games I've ever played. I think playing WoW today would be so much different, because I would love to explore areas, read quest text and watch those little scenes quite thoughtful and most certainly never reach max level because of that.
yea man if anything, I look at the Warcraft movie as being my first step into discovering more about the lore. I started when I was 11 and I'm 21 now. when I pick the game back up I'm gonna have a new perspective as this video had some awesome ass stories
+BvsedRon please don't rely too much on the movie too much, it took a lot of miberties in order to make it marketable (the movie and hearthstone lore are not canon !), Nobbel87 has great lore videos if you wanna learn morr and if you have the chance, read the official books and comics they're awesome
i would be okay if it was just occasional; everyone makes mistakes. this dude makes it his life goal to butcher words for no reason. So much to so that i have to believe it's purposeful trolling.
Tirion Fordring and his son's quest chain was great, and so was the Onyxia attunement quest chain, those were my favorites from Vanilla. Also the Level 30 Warrior Class quest chain
Great list. Some I'd add are.... They Call Him Smiling Jim. This was a neat quest BEFORE the Dustwallow Marsh revamp that ended in a dead end. After the revamp it tells a story about a guy who became the town idiot/drunk after losing his family in a fire. Alliance Onyxia Attunement. Another great, epic quest that ended with you marching along Marshall Windsor (and generally the entire zone who followed along to see what was happening) through Stormwind to unmask Lady Prestor as Onyxia. I believe these are both Alliance exclusive quests and you seem to prefer Horde so if you haven't played them, I'd recommend trying They Call Him Smiling Jim at least (sadly Onyxia attunement is gone as I'm sure you know).
animehbkscm my point was bringing attention to her blatant hypocrisy. she justifies her conquest with "lordaeron belongs to the forsaken cuz we're dead lordaeron citizens" but then tries to conquer Gilneas.
This is pretty old but I thought you might be interested in knowing Lordaeron doesn't just refer to the city itself but in fact it's also used to refer to most of the northern half of eastern kingdoms.
This was an awesome video. I love questing and this video brought back great memories of some of these quests that I have done, as well as fascinated me watching you play out the ones I haven't done. I hope you will make more questing videos. Great job and thank you!
I never liked the fact that Sylvannas simply died to a gun from a level 20. I woulda liked it better if he shot her, she looked at him, said some smartass one liner, Then goes on to shoot godfrey with an arrow. Or two. or three... or hell, cast barrage.
Rizerr96 Look at it this way. There are two kinds of battle in the Warcraft Universe. Player Battle and Lore Battle. In Player battle we can slash their face over and over but only the dmg done matters. In Lore battle everything is realistic and getting shot in the face does kill someone.
Rizerr96 In WoW, Jaina almost "destroyed" Orgrimmar, but she can die to any gun, as any Orc, Night/Blood Elves, Draenei would, because they are flesh beings. The "destructive" power is different from resilience.
+Superkol Is Cool I was always thinking that why not use highly trained snipers to kill the lich king then bam headshot or something or right in the eye
i remember the pamela quest from back in the great days i literaly had to shut down my comp and walk away to re compose myself afterwords. i explained the story to my little sister and she burst out crying. da feels man :(
If you ever do updates, definitely update the battle of darrowshire here, now that you can redo the original. The retail version of it pales. In the original one, Pamela's father commits an attrocity of some sort, and we have to Chromie to get them to try and 'fix' things. While there is not a lot CHromie can do do change these grand events, they give us the ability to allow Pamelas father to atone for his sins, which is the culmination of the quest chain with the epic raid quest Battle for Darrowshire. I am actually annoyed with myself since yesterday, I had joined a group to actually do this final step in the series. and when we go there, some alliance had just completed it which allowed us to just click on Redpath to get 'accept his forgiveness' or whatever the objective is. Then I handed it in and instant regret. I denied myself real completion of the last quest in an amazing chain. Oops.
I remember doing the original chain about a week or two before Burning Crusade first came out I kick myself in the rear every time I remember it cuz I got the epic shield from the fight and ended up ditching it a few months later when cleaning out my bank 😭
"Lillian Voss doesn't need your help." Oh, I remember the quest to that one tower and /trying/ not to aggro too many npcs at once because they would kill her and she wouldn't just reappear, so I had to abandon that quest, find the starting point without a map marker, and do it again. It wasn't just me either. Someone else had that issue, so we grouped up to try and increase our chances at getting it done. The quest line/story was neat, but that particular escort quest... reeeeeeeeeee
Dude, have you really NOT put the whole aq scepter questline? Dr. Weavil? Number2? And ofc the broken questline of Eranikus and the Moonglade raid? :/Just.... disappointed.
My new favorite spans across the entire zone, and that is the quest giver quest chain with Johnny Awesome and crew, I love that quest chain, and how the most arrogant one, was actually a really good guy, and johnny awesome was of course the carried noob that thinks he is great, and then there was dumass...yup.
My favorite quest chain was included in the intro of this video so I got super pumped, and sat here for an hour just to not see it included haha. I keep the bag for vanilla nostalgia
Just as a side note for the Epic Hunter Bow quest chain:(cause I havent seen anyone mention it between your videos that go over it.) You also got a quiver during it by needing the Ancient Black Sinew(I believe. Not on the game currently to check.) When they removed that questline and also the need for ammo during Cataclysm, they turned it into a 32 slot bag. Which was amazing at the time. I've used it up until recently with the newer bags being added are like 36 or 38 slots now. Sits as a bag in my bank now.
Probably just a bug, i remember to have my whole bar show Heroic Strike on all slots, then fixing after switching back and forth the multiples bars. Weird huh.
No "in dreams" ? The one with Tirion returning to Hearthglen, to free his son Taelen Fordring. It's the foundation of his return in WotLK. Used to love that one.
"Worgen curse made me do it, herp-dy-derp." *crying laughing* Agreed, the original was a FAR better story as it delved into the emotions of the characters.
I enjoyed this video, but is English your fist language? I only ask because there were so many mispronounced words in this video. I normally don't care about such things, but it got pretty distracting after a while DX

We just knocked out C'Thun, and slaughtered his minions. If you kill an Old God, the land gets all destroyed and stuff. C'Thun could still pop up again, though he'd have a bit of a challenge. But no way did a bunch of level 60s kill him.
I suppose. But my point remains
We did kill him. The quest from the item he drops describes him as dead. In a comic, Cho'Gall attempts to resurrect him, meaning he's dead. When the devs were asked at blizzcon 2010 about why the land hadn't been destroyed, they said "Did you play Cataclysm? You know, where the world blows up...because of the Old Gods."
He's dead.
Garrosh: "Watch your clever mouth, bitch."
Me: "OOOOH SHIIIIT."
Too bad Garrosh was the shittiest Warchief any Horde could ever have. This coming from a Hordie. Hell, even the Legion wouldn't make him a leader, but Thrall did -.-
Well Thrall is not very good at making decisions...
@@vlati18 still one of the best written characters though. he stayed true to being a dick to the very end
I can't help but tear up when I hear the story of Darrowshire. I think it's because of that one Machinima years ago
"Don Quijote de la Mancha", classical reading there...
Great video, although there were a few small mistakes with the summary of the cataclysm version of the Mismantle quest. The first is that it’s actually a sequel of sorts to the original quest chain from Classic, and the second is that Stalvan was not a worgen, he was just so delusional that he tried comparing himself being a murderous psychopath to being afflicted with the worgen curse like his brother Tobias (who worgen players can meet in their starting zone before & after he gets infected) is.
the best quest ever was the Missing Diplomat questline in vanilla.
+Chaotic Neutral mynigga mynigga
if you say so!
no
Just finished that quest, in Vanilla. That 5750 XP tho
Yes!!! Finally someone said it!
Is their some sort of love connection between Cromush and Sylvanas?? He seemed genuinely devestated when she died, Fix her, FIX HER. This is totally head canon for me now. Shippin' it
Man, I forgot about how fun the Stalvan quest was, it was so interesting to play through
"this man child", i love that line
+Kmuz Hellscream Blizzard should add that as a title
Chill, Hiru. I just watched it without pause. Some of us really enjoy long videos.
OMG say hicote one more time. It's pronounced ki ho tay.
this dude butchered a lot of the names in this video
ex: Darkmaster Gandling -> DEATHMASTER GRANDLING
hahaha agreed.
who cares
+Zehta He butchers a lot of names in ALL of his videos, not just this one. It literally blows my mind how somebody who makes so many videos about WoW can pronounce so many of the names in it so blatantly wrongly, but eh, then again, I don't have dyslexia, so maybe I'm not meant to understand.
Rico Suave or saying debyoot instead of debut
My favourite chain is the lashtail hatchling chain in Stranglethorn
Pretty sure I raged more than once trying to escape as the baby XD
It is just so sweet and fun how he pronounces "Don Quijote"
I'm latin by the way, love you Hiu
i discover your chanel a few days ago and i must say that i enjoy your videos a lot! thank you for your effort sir!
Taxima he seems to have trouble understanding some things... Like how to say words.
@@godmagnus DAWN HEEKOWTAY
The silverpine quest chain really shows how they butchered sylvannas in BfA. She went from a caring leader to a despot to a poorly written villian
my favorite is the dwarven wedding questline in twilight highlands. you gotta do the whole zone to get there but you end up exaulted with the wildhammer dwarves and you can buy their tabard.
Don Quixote is pronounced "Don Key-O-Tee" not "Don Hecotey" lol
THANK YOU
THANK YOU ! I cringed so hard every time he said "Don Hecotey" xD
Also - Chilvary?
In the original spanish it's pronounced pretty much like 'donkey-shot'.
He pronounces so many things wrong. I think its supposed to be a joke.
Who still watches his videos all over again
me
Feb 2021, still here.
Really well done video... I watch it till the end.
In love with Sylvannas and Pamela Redpath stories...
Good video,
I just noticed that Syl. says 'a choice I was never given' Arthas gave Dalaran and Silvermoon chances to surrender lmao
The Lilian Voss quest gave me goosebumps
Why?
I can still remember Stalvan quest chain reward. It's a pick among a single hand axe, a shield, and a cloth shoulders.
Lillian Voss is the back up faction leader for when Sylvanas goes rogue (more rogue).
Recklezz Too soon
Well shit...
The leader is now Calia I think.
#10 Lovely lore
#7 Amazing new tasks for a quest line. :3
#5 That little kid has always scared me.
#2 Awwww
#1 Sylvanas Fangirl :D
Was that Hazel doing the voice over for Pamela Redpath?
I came here thinking the same thing
The bravo company questchain was a BLAST for me back in the day... is to this day one of my best memories of the game
I enjoy you work a lot, except for you occasional annoying mispronunciation of several lore figures and such. Val-Keer Don Key-Ho-Tay Men-e-thil etc
i would be okay if it was just occasional; everyone makes mistakes. this dude makes it his life goal to butcher words for no reason. So much to so that i have to believe it's purposeful trolling.
Tirion Fordring and his son's quest chain was great, and so was the Onyxia attunement quest chain, those were my favorites from Vanilla. Also the Level 30 Warrior Class quest chain
I thought one would've been Tyrion's quest chain in vanilla plaguelands.
Sylvanas: Lordaeron belongs to the forsaken
*_And Gilneas belongs to the Gilneans you hypocrite_*
Of course it belongs to the Gilneans, until Sylvanas rode in and took out those flea-ridden furballs. That's what conquest is all about.
animehbkscm my point was bringing attention to her blatant hypocrisy. she justifies her conquest with "lordaeron belongs to the forsaken cuz we're dead lordaeron citizens" but then tries to conquer Gilneas.
This is pretty old but I thought you might be interested in knowing Lordaeron doesn't just refer to the city itself but in fact it's also used to refer to most of the northern half of eastern kingdoms.
Forsaken should all just kill themselves honestly. Arthas is dead, they have nothing to live for and should just die.
That's pretty... Savage.
+Blazer Ashbringer He's a lichking, meaning he has a phylactery that you need to destroy to make him mortal, which is either his heart or Frostmourne
Marius Butkus whaaat??? i never read not heard of that...
i remember the pamela quest from back in the great days i literaly had to shut down my comp and walk away to re compose myself afterwords. i explained the story to my little sister and she burst out crying. da feels man :(
That dwarf accent was just cringe inducing...
+Hak Kar yah.. it was
Should have used Jesse Cox's version :D
"Kalimdor" pronunciation was cringe
Hak Kar k
Your critique implies motives that are cringe inducing.
Yes! I was hoping Darrowshire would be on here! That quest chain is what completely sold me on warcraft lore.
49:35 Arthas wasn't Invincible but he was his horse :)))
Ever since I've done Silverpine chain, I've been doing it on all my alts. Brilliant.
Oops.
I remember doing the original chain about a week or two before Burning Crusade first came out
I kick myself in the rear every time I remember it cuz I got the epic shield from the fight and ended up ditching it a few months later when cleaning out my bank 😭
Nice list, some of my favorites are
AQ opening
T 0.5 questchain (45 min baron run)
Tirion in EPL questchain
The ancient Egg
new playable overwatch isnt gonna be doomfist its gonna be the face punching dwarf
"Lillian Voss doesn't need your help."
Oh, I remember the quest to that one tower and /trying/ not to aggro too many npcs at once because they would kill her and she wouldn't just reappear, so I had to abandon that quest, find the starting point without a map marker, and do it again.
What was the song in the Pamela Redpath quest chain again? I really ike the song but forgot what it's called.
Darude Sandstorm
most of these do not give exact starting locations, or maps, or easy to follow directions on how to get there, I find such information helpful
Love your vids but your pronunciation of some words makes me lol. No judgement here, just saying
+Joshua Ellwood thank god i wasn't the only one...
+Joshua Ellwood He meant to say eastvale logging camp and said estabaun logging camp
its an hour long video so I give slack
I would give slack if it was just this video. If you watch any of his others it's the same. Guy needs to learn to read properly.
@@wankarlos5279 LOL he couldn't even get "logging" correct. He said "lodging" instead. I have no idea where he got Estaban from?!?
My favorite quest chain was included in the intro of this video so I got super pumped, and sat here for an hour just to not see it included haha. I keep the bag for vanilla nostalgia
Did you just call Kalimdor, Kalimindor?
I heard a Kalimadoor in there as well
We all do it sometimes lol
@@buttlerubbies747 No we really don't.
What is wrong with your tool bar? why is it only chain lightning??
Probably just a bug, i remember to have my whole bar show Heroic Strike on all slots, then fixing after switching back and forth the multiples bars.
Weird huh.
he said in another video that he made that he is obsessed with lightning based abilities
He's doing low level questlines, so he can use literally any spell to go through. Chain lighting is the coolest by far.
I loved this video! Excellent montage and narration, I liked the Lillian Voss quest lines.
"chilvary"
LOL
New subscriber to your channel and got to say I am loving this kind of content. I intended to only watch 1-2 but have been enjoying everything!
I enjoyed this video, but is English your fist language? I only ask because there were so many mispronounced words in this video. I normally don't care about such things, but it got pretty distracting after a while DX
+Mike “Big Papa” L. Looked in the comments for this, so many things pronounced weirdly.
Yeah... I love this guy and have watched almost all of his videos, and have been wondering this lol
I have a feeling he does it intentionally just to get under people's skin.
He's mentioned multiple times he does it as a meme

hahaha:D haha
+Lord Vetinari Don quickscope?
Typical smug yuropoor, completely ignores the fact this guy pronounces literally everything from Onyxia to Kalimdor wrong and is quite clearly dyslexic in order to make a shitty "Murica" joke.
The legend of Stalvan Mistmantle quest chain in Duskwood was legendary , especially when did in vanilla/tbc/wrath, those hordies are missing out alot
