At the beginning of the year, I bought a silhouette cameo after doing some research. Mainly because of the software, it’s similar to design software that I’m familiar with. But I had no idea that the cricut was so limited. I’m glad I didn’t end up getting one. I feel like cricut has better marketing and its “flashier,” it comes in a lot of colors and it looks “prettier,” so I think it appeals to more people because of that.
I’ve also had some issues with registration lately. It’s frustrating. Last time I calibrated it and it’s seemed to work after that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Right!? I feel like there's not a lot of info out there about the differences between them so I wanted to make this :) you're definitely right about their marketing and colors being better which gives that appeal to people!

Damn, looking at all these comments and watching this video, I’m so happy I bought the silhouette. I wasn’t sure whether the silhouette or cricut would be better. I recommend using clear tape around the borders to help the silhouette from not picking up the registration marks because the tape stops it from detecting outside of the marks if that makes sense?

  • @OrianaSewell

Ty!!!!! Ok so I’m having HELL with my cricut doing this. And I want to open my shop but I keep running into a problem where when I print cut my stickers they are fine on the 1st half of the machine. I mean they are always perfect. Then the bottom half is so off it’s unusable. I’ve configured it millions of times. So it’s not that. It’s not how I put the sticker paper in it’s just... it’s just how it is. But since I waste so much sticker paper and ink... it makes me absolutely nuts. I don’t have the time or money to always waste. And it’s been a significant problem since buying the machine 2 years ago. Was thinking that I’d try silhouette but I was worried I’d just be wasting more money on something that doesn’t pan out. Ty ty ty for this. You have helped me tremendously!

What I learned about the cricut is that it cuts better in a well lit up room so that might help with cutting. So if it's in a place with a lot of shade it might not pick up where it needs to cut.

I got a Cricut Explore Air 2 for my birthday a year ago, and I was lucky enough to win the cutting machine of my choice a few months ago (I went for the Cameo 4 Plus... it's fantastic!). The software is phenomenal... I've worked in digital graphics for decades, and I absolutely love the software. I upgraded to the full version and couldn't be happier.
My biggest problem is that I can't get the picscan mat to register correctly. I still need to talk to customer support for that, but I'll get to it eventually.
One good thing to know: anyone can download the silhouette studio software. You just have to save your project once you're done and open it with the cricut software to cut. 😀

    • @dubblejei
      @dubblejei 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

They've retracted the software update... but only until Dec 31st 2021. If they come out with a new machine in 2022, you'll need to pay if you upload more than 20 designs/patterns per calendar month.
People are saying that if the cricut community stand together, the software update might even be completely revoked, but, I wouldn't take that chance (it's a 50/50).
Personally, I'd just return the Cricut and get me a Cameo 4. Sure the software is intimidating, but it has so many options that design space lacks. Cricut without a design space payed subscription is basically worthless.

I choose Cricut and I would choose it a million times again. Precision is impecable and loss of material due to machine mistakes is almost none, for me that's the most important thing. Also, in my country it's cheaper than silhouette machines cause they got so popular the price went to the clouds, so cricut was a win/win for me ahhahahahah
Just watch lots of videos and see which one you'd like to take the risk with, cause in the end, personal experiences will be a lot different from person to person.

Sarah Eliz awwwww ok thank you so much I am trying to think of more sustainable packaging and this is definitely an option. I feel so bad when I think about packaging hahaha I am just going to start my little shop so I am constantly researching and thinking of anything possible to reduce any material hahaha

I looked at both the cricut and the silhouette on Amazon and the reviews for both of them are bad idk what to believe! They're both expensive so this makes me nervous...

Same here! I have been reading reviews as well and I am nervous about both products because who wants to waste money for a cutter that doesn’t cut?

@@islandofthesun exactly. Im gonna wait for black Friday that way I won't feel as frustrated if it ends up not working out 😩

It’s so frustrating because I’ll peek at both communities and see the Cricut community and Silhouette community both complaining about a huge list of things

You need to update this video Cricut has offset now, and if you calibrate your Cricut it can cut precise

  • @veronicajuarez3684

With a iPad and a Apple Pencil you can make your own stikers including the white silhouette to print on Cricut and that is so much easier

Um ya I love your thoughts on your machines so I think I’d rather do the old fashion way: print, manually cut, manually glue.

Have you ever thought that maybe it was because your cricut is 2 years old?

  • @ryansbasscovers4413

I absolutely hate circuts. The software sucks, the machine is so inaccurate, and most of all their customer support is borderline useless.
I was having accuracy issues and it took them over a month to respond and when they got back to me they basically told me that’s I’m out of luck. I’m going to buy a silhouette tomorrow and I’m hoping that works much better
Oh and the circut program doesn’t all for editing the print quality so I was always stuck with bad prints. Overall it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had buying a machine
