Its annoying how the media always says these bodies are 'unattainable'. Sure, the pressure is very bad on the mind, but these bodies are far from unattainable. They are just plain old healthy looking bodies (minus the steroids for men).
cooteyman 202 *"It's unattainable because it isn't served on a silver platter and I can't be arsed to do the work"* Don't you hear yourself? I'm sorry but that's the most shamelessly pathetic excuse for the supposed 'unattainability' of a healthy body I've ever seen. You people should stop spreading this defeatist bollocks as it may discourage people from making the decision to improve.
I believe it is attainable however I think the video was suppose to refer that if you’re not obese nor underweight and just considerably healthy then you shouldn’t have to lift weights or build muscles just to be seen as “sexy” or “hot”. You should just be you. Now if a person is obese then yeah they should work hard but their goal should be to be healthy and not “attractive”.
it is unattainable for some because of how the human body is made. Bone structure, muscle insertions, muscle bellies etc are all genetics. You cant grow 5 inches by working out now can you? The same goes for your broad shoulders or narrow waist. You cant train those
Being healthy: important Being most attractive: unimportant Not any body is okay, we should discourage unhealthy lifestyles in favor of living healthy.
ArcticAnDroid uh...considering life literally only exists to replicate...and we are sexually dimorphic...attractiveness to the opposite sex is very important
Aesthetics cannot be neglected. Aesthetic is Rhetoric both in relationships and business. Your health is a separate thing despite the overlap, and both are critical. Attractiveness is not important if you're satisfied with a difficult time finding a partner, a good job, and social status. If you work twice as hard maybe you will get the same of one or two of those things.
Something can be attainable for one person but not for another. For example, I'm tall and skinny. I'm strong but most of my muscle mass isn't particularly physically impressive. I can improve on that, and I am, but I'm not gonna try for a Chris Pratt body because I simply don't have the frame for it. And that's cool. I have other interests and I'm good-looking enough for the people I have the most fun with.
It is unattainable if you do not have the time for it. If you work from 9 to 5, you don't have time to waste 3 hours in the gym. The job of those men in the media IS to work out and be hot. That's the difference.
Andy Monserud, I too am tall and skinny. From age 16 to my early 20's I was 6'2 and weighed 145-150. Despite working out regularly I never gained much muscle. For the last 6 months I've made a change to my diet. I now force myself to eat 3000 calories a day. Since then I've gained significant muscle mass while keeping low fat. Sure I don't have the skeletal structure to look like Arnie but it still a major improvement.
Mario Sergio, you only don't have time for it if you choose to not prioritize it. I work 9 to 5, 5 day a week job and I manage to fit in my schedule perfectly fine. It doesn't even have to be 3 hours, a 45 min daily workout can make a world of difference.
It's weird, but when I was a kid, “shredded” and “cut” specifically meant having very low body fat.The idea was that you could easily see muscle fibers, and muscle separation. Now, shredded and cut mean having both low body fat AND a very large, muscular build. Shredded and cut were originally used in bodybuilding to describe the ideal state for actual bodybuilding competitions, but it was not considered ideal between contests, as it was too difficult to maintain super-low body fat at the same time you were trying to build muscle. Now it seems we have to be genetically gifted, shredded, hyper muscular,...essentially perfect, at all times. Yes, woman have had to deal with much of that all along, but the world is worse off for men joining the ranks of the objectified, and everyone should be set free to just be healthy, not “perfect”.
Squiddi no it clearly wont always be that way considering it was once undesirable. And no, hard work doesnt _deserve_ women; hard work is just attractive.
Squiddi No naturally people are attracted to those best fit for survival. In modern day, our psycchology likely adapts to what society deems attractive. If it were simply a basic natural instinct to be attracted to ripped men, fat men would never have been attractive.
Honestly nothing beats the Greek statue body physiques. Not too skinny nor fat. Just perfect insanely hard to achieve naturally but amazing and just so appealing. Thats really something to strive for.
it's true that from time to time a trend appears that puts apollonian beauty in halt, but this beauty standard is so engraved in our colective consciousness that it never goes completely away, and always comes back. Greek and Roman cultures are still the most influential in western cultures, from the way we behave, to the way we eat, to the way we look.
It was true until Americans started to dominate the culture. However Americans could never become standard in European high culture, just in the popular mass (proletarian peasant) culture.
1:19 of course not that's called overtraining, your muscles grow when they're recovering i.e during sleep not when you constantly assault them every day. Only people on PED's can annihilate their muscles in that kind of way
It's only overtraining if you do full-body workouts every single day. if you do a split routine, such as push-pull-legs, you can work out every day. Besides, even if you do go full-body, you can still split your routine between strength days and cardio days.
Ok, but you still need to give the body time to use the material from the food to repair the muscles. If you are barraging your muscles with exercise and not giving adequate rest then they will never repair and recover. Give a person all the bricks in the world, if you don't give them any time to build a house then the house will never be built.
Muscle recovery occurs during sleep. Besides, when you do a split, you're not using the same muscles every day. For instance, your arms are resting on the days you work out your legs, and vice versa. Likewise, push-pull-legs gives you two days of rest for all of your muscle groups.
Parma zyxwvu The difference between those 20 years is the act of radiation on human bodies. So no I don't think Spartans had 200x testosterone, all those bodies you see on the video are fake
Yes, men feel a great deal of pressure to have a great physique, not only to impress the opposite sex or someone, but also to somewhat keep up or "outdo their counterparts. Many women and men body shame men along with height shaming which primarily come from women.
The amount of times I’ve heard girls talk about guys and how they have “dad bods” is incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever heard one of my guy friends openly make fun of a woman’s image
The difference between men and women from what I see in this comment section, is that men don't moan about their desired body types, instead they get it if they wish to get it, and understand that a woman is more attracted to a man who has more muscle. However women, in general, always moan about how the media shows "unattainable body types" and that it's not fair when realistically, a woman is in the exact same position as a man in this scenario, they are just less likely to have the motivation to get up and do something about their unhappiness with their body and want men to accept them for who they are, but probably won't go vice versa.
There's something that you're either forgetting or overlooking. Women are built to have more fat on their bodies as they are the ones who grow another human being inside them. Because this fat is more necessary on the female form, it is more difficult for the average woman to slim down as easily as the average man. Especially considering the roles evolution originally placed the two genders in. Men were typically fighters, while women were providers. Also, keep in mind that weight doesn't always dictate your level of health. Female athletes don't tend to weigh an ideal 120 lbs. And women who are taller weigh more at a healthy weight for them than shorter women at a healthy weight. Honestly I think people obsess too much over numbers on scales. It all really depends.
No because an ideal male body these days is realistic. Everyone can achieve it. I know it's hard but definitely not impossible. A woman's body on the other hand is supposed to be slim/athletic but with curves which is just unrealistic considering the fact, that boobs and butts are basically just fat.
If your stupid your bank account won't last need to have a brain. More than one lottery winner went bankrupt so did more than one athlete, actor and singer.
Perhaps men should focus on mental and emotional strengthening instead of body strengthening right now.. though, combining the two makes you a lot better off. Stop trying to emasculate males. Stay classy, gentlemen.
It’s about first impression. A good looking guy (including having a nice body) will most likely have more opportunity to attract girls. That’s just nature.
iAMGabGab when I don’t shave people say I’m gay, but that’s mainly because I’m not a man. Almost all models are hairless (even males). I think it has become trend or something.
Panala Since when can you be gay as a woman ? xD. Yes i really think it looks way better and is smoother when its shaved, but I never saw a man with shaved legs/arms..
Women -Thin body shape - Pretty face -Long eyelashes -Hourglass bodyshape -Curves with an attractive thin body -Not too much make up but should be still attractive
Took it from the ladies and finally got up the courage to ask someone out. Apparently I am too short (5'5) and not muscular enough. Thanks for the good advice.
whatever...ive been lifting for the last two years and now I finally get attention from girls...i didn't when I was fat and happy... I've got the same personality as back then so the only reason I get more attention now is because of my new looks😑
Zoey Richardson I don't think you understand what I said. I also don't think you have good vision because my profile picture is me, yet you said I don't take care of myself...
I think the best one is the one we have today: dad bods. For me, dad bods is something like "I used to hit the gym 10 years ago but now I'm just growing fat and I don't care". it's beautiful, 'cause it says "okay, I know everybody is into this lifting weigh thing, but I'm done with it 'cause I'm wiser now" kinda of aspect to it. I don't know, it feels... mature and happier.
13.1.18.11 IsMyName Oooookay, well then. Why can't you three actually listen to each other properly? There's nothing wrong with wanting to have a healthy mind AND a healthy body.
Don't try to normalize things that aren't normal You can do calculation which shows you your ideal weight and everyone should aim for that weight But... if you wanna be fat or thin af then so be it, but that is not normal Don't promote others to be unhealthy, its not that hard to get yourself in shape trust me Its 2018, people should be smarter
How are they unattainable. They are very attainable. Go to the gym and work out more, cut out sugar. Done your on your way. The ideal male body isnt that of a body builder, its bulky but athletic. Its not unattainable by any means
Everyone can get em with a proper diet. Not quite as hard as some think. Harder when you're metabolism is slower though, but still completely possible.
Did you use the guardian as a source? Anyway I think most of these body types (like fat) are usually liked as they show that they are well fed Not because they are physically attractive
Lol what, I mean unless the person has very clear anorexia I don't think a women would be considered with how "well fed" a man is in a 1st world country.
Attraction is personal preference. Yes it is affected by many factors of our genetic makeup, but it all comes down to what the person prefers. Even more so considering body types don't really change anything in our current society.
Thank you for that ending comment, even though obecity is a rising issue now a days, guys and gals alike have self image issues that are usually propogated by TH-cam videos and most media. This was a refreshing perspective!
In my opinion most females go for the fit or not to muscular guy. We have to remember we are not going be in our 20s for ever so is best to maintain a fit healthy body to our old age.
It was interesting until the end then they pushed some all goody bull crap. No matter WHAT the body preference or ideal image is, you should always aspire to be fit; if for no aesthetic purpose, then simply to be healthy. This whole idea of "Body Shaming" is bull, if you're considerably overweight, yes it may be hard to hear, but you need to cut those pounds, not rock those heart problems. If you're incredibly skinny, you need to start being more active and athletic, don't succumb to health issues because people say it's okay and that we shouldn't shame you. PS 90s body expectations weren't unattainable if they were set by people in movies id est the rock who attained them.
Joey Likes Food Body shaming is not "bull". It's short-sighted, and also distracting from something that plagues even worse: Mental health. Obsessing over body images poisons the brain.
AMRUTA K "Be bigger than everybody else, then nobbody will mess with you" is so dumb, ppl gonna mess with u anyway, its just that u will be strong enough to defend urself.
AMRUTA K Well you could be Bruce Lee, but if a guy that outweighs him by a good 70 kilos grabbed him, he could snap him in half. Just speaking realistically, take a look at some of the World's Strongest Man competitors they're fucking huge and could crush a normal person
AMRUTA K Im doing MMA , there are lot of guys who has more skills but when we spar the bigger guys always win If someone outweights you by 30-40 kg or even more they will win 90% of the time , if they know basic fighting stance And also if Big guy cant fight he is still intimidating for people without training
My boyfriend has a beautiful body. He is on the shorter side, white pale skin and he’s covered in gorgeous freckles and beauty marks. He’s got a muscular back and arms and a tiny lil tummy chub and he is perfect to me. I wouldn’t change a thing.
when your a very young guy its ok to be thin but once we start approaching mid 20's and above, it is now time to get buff if we still want to look good. the slim cute look just ain't gonna work anymore and getting fat is NEVER acceptable.
@@davidospina7870 k pop was around before 2020🤦♂️ I think more people are all over tiktok boys more in 2020, they're practically the beauty standard now:/
I’ve never worked out in my life, (like doing ab workouts and going to the gym), but my dad always took me working ever since I was young and my mom always fed me healthy food. Also I rarely eat any chips or go to fast food to save money on useless stuff. And I’ve never noticed it until few years back I was lean ass fuck and had a 6 pack, I still do but damn it took years without even noticing.
men having issues and insecurities and general problems don't negate the problems of women and vice versa. problems are problems and they're all bad so stop with all these pissing contests of "i have it worse than you"
We would have a lot more violence and "pissing contests" as our friend above mentioned if they were all alphas. It wouldn't take much for women to get sick of that.
your definition of beta is something else probably. Like being vulnerable, being emotional all those good things. According to me, a beta human is a human who cant do shit when someone pokes him/her and just keeps hiding/crying. May sound a bit extreme and lacking empathy but it is what it is. Crying like a beta is worse than just crying.
I think healthy should be a healthy Body. If you are fit and healthy I think that is the best to be and you can decide what that looks like for you. Just take care of your body. Remember God has given us one body let's use it wisely.
I don't think the bodybuilder look of the 80s carried over so much beyond then. In the 90s and 2000s I would think a fit model or jock look was more in. Buff seems to have come back in the past decade or so, but I'm thinking superhero bod moreso than the roided out Rock look.
In ancient Greece yes the ideal body was to be muscular BUT men who were fat and had big bellys meant they were rich because they had lots of food so they were equally respected as athletes!!
I believe body image issues stem from poor reception of one's own attempt at comparing oneself with an ideal. A better way to recieve it is to set goals to acheive it until you come to realize not everything you idolize is realistic.
What stands out about this video is that outside of trends that reflect other qualities a musculature form has always been the most attractive type of man and that looking through history it isn't hard to see that.
no, being fat and unhealthy will never be attractive.. biological and evolutionary factors has made us hardwired to never find that shit attractive. Youth, fertility, being slender, feminine women will always be attractive for guys and strong, tall, masculine, dominant men will always be attractive for women.. That will never change, it never has throughout the history of mankind and never will
MrD some women don't want that kind of look as fears they will have to compete to keep their partner. Not the same for men but It does depend on the person.
Whether 200 pounds is a lot depends. For a 7 foot tall man, 200 pounds isn't a lot. For a 5'6 man, 200 pounds is a lot. For 6'3-6'5 200 pounds is not that much like you said, but it's not skinny.
I'm skinny and lean, I have a fair bit of muscle definition for that reason which I am happy about. I'm not necessarily ashamed of my body. Do I look in the mirror and feel bad about myself? No. Do I think a girl will leave me for a man with bigger muscles? Yes. Do I get jealous of men with bigger muscles? yes. Am I trying to get a body like that so that I can get rid of the jealousy and make the girl I'm with happy and not dissappointed in my body? Yes.
I’m going to go ahead and confidently assert that being evenly proportioned, well defined, and muscular has always been attractive. Just from a purely evolutionary standpoint, that never has and never will go out of style. Any woman who’s says they’d pick a dad bod over someone in shape is either kidding, not looking at the two side by side, or lacks confident in their own appearance.
It depends on the dad bod because some dad bods do look good. But I myself do prefer someone that's fit too because it shows they take care of themselves and aside from that, I'm into fitness as well.
im 6ft 175-180 lbs. never hit the gym, lean healthy athletic and an active/hard working THIS IS THE PERFECT MAN!!! a fit healthy rock star body without the excess ;p;p;p you dont need the extra muscle.. the extra weight... you dont need to do repetitive motions over and over to bulge out a specific muscle out of sync with the rest of your body..... just work hard and take care of yourself... only exercise i ever do is skipping and pushups/situps THATS IT!!! you'll be beautiful YOUR WHOLE LIFE!! not just for 5 years or so.. cuz age will always catch up to you if your not respecting your body...and that extra muscle will turn into fat... good and correct change is slow and steady, so that your body can "adapt" and always "maintain" your level of fitness... you should not aspire to getting big overnight.... and btw YOUR HEART IS A MUSCLE TO!!!! what do you think supplies all this extra muscle??... the bigger its load the more stress it is on your heart... how do you think it reacts unnecessary and quick gain?? or steroids?? or even supplements???... JUST BE NATURAL!!! FULL BODY WORKOUTS!!! WORK!!! ACTIVITY!!!! youll be stronger than any body builder!!! ;p;p;p;p you will be your "perfect" self. the way God intended you to be ;p;p;p;p;p;p!!!!!!
These are just generalizations. Assuming that every country in every region of the world believed the same thing during an era is ridiculous and quite frankly, unintelligent.
Whatever body you have IS the perfect body. So long as it's not a health issue, inflaming a health issue, or causing a health issue. Extreme standards are bad, but unhealthiness due to 'acceptance' is even worse. I'm one to talk though with a BMI in the low 40's.
It’s always been like this; get over it, both sexes. If you don’t fit a universally popular body and cannot attain it from working on yourself then there’s still always someone for you. Insecurity in relation to body “standards” shows more toward human narcissism than to a supposed society against people deemed different. People often aspire and obsess to possess these admired bodies to make others think of them more highly and to not just impress one person in there life but to make all swoon at the mere sight of said body.
Nice body n immuture mindset with a low iq / self inflicted mental retardation are not attractive .The more guys care about thier body and looks, past a point ,the more common sense and intelligence goes out the window and declines

Yes, woman have had to deal with much of that all along, but the world is worse off for men joining the ranks of the objectified, and everyone should be set free to just be healthy, not “perfect”.
honestly as a female i will never get the whole "dad bods are sexy" thing. fit/athletic men is where it's at. to each their own i suppose..
MJ X It will always be that way and it should. Men who work hard deserve women they want anyways.
as long as you don't hold a double standard with the female counterpart, that's fine by me :)
Squiddi no it clearly wont always be that way considering it was once undesirable. And no, hard work doesnt _deserve_ women; hard work is just attractive.
Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova It was never undesirable, it's what women are attracted to naturally. Simple evolutionary biology.
That can be. Explained in two words
Ricardo milos
it's true that from time to time a trend appears that puts apollonian beauty in halt, but this beauty standard is so engraved in our colective consciousness that it never goes completely away, and always comes back.
Besides, even if you do go full-body, you can still split your routine between strength days and cardio days.
liligman I'ma trainer AND a bodybuilder and im here to tell you that you're absolutely incorrect. Food, not PEDs is the determining factor.
Jason Genova is pushing the limits of physics by speeding up his molecular structure.

Annamart Van Rooyen why?
Ezio_Auditore We constantly tell women they're beautiful just the way they are, why can't we give the same love to men?
Annamart Van Rooyen Because some guys are seriously disgusting lmao
2:57 That's the kind of studliness I want to achieve.
BuyingOGNames But you’d go for a 200 pound woman?
@@Yukalitlee that's bullshit. If you eat healthy you will lose fat. It doesn't matter what gender you are
Barakudaa yes, boobs are just fat, but not the butt idk where you got that from, the butt is muscle, lol

The ideal body is one that houses a person who is kind, genuine, caring, a good parent, and who cares about their health.
Took it from the ladies and finally got up the courage to ask someone out. Apparently I am too short (5'5) and not muscular enough. Thanks for the good advice.

Myke Prior hey, you don't have to have muscles to be an alpha male!
I don't know, it feels... mature and happier.
lesson: be who you want to be and don't pay too much attention to trends. i would never talk about aesthetics on my channel, just about mindset...

Did you use the guardian as a source?
Anyway I think most of these body types (like fat) are usually liked as they show that they are well fed
Not because they are physically attractive
Lol what, I mean unless the person has very clear anorexia I don't think a women would be considered with how "well fed" a man is in a 1st world country.
Being fat meant being more wealthy and 1st world countries in the past werent so great
Exactly, fat meant good provider. And that's about it. A lean, muscular man would always be preferred by women. Lean+wealthy > fat+wealthy
What's wrong with The Guardian? It's a great outlet.
Attraction is personal preference. Yes it is affected by many factors of our genetic makeup, but it all comes down to what the person prefers. Even more so considering body types don't really change anything in our current society.

Only 1 out of the 7 capital letters in that sentence was needed.
In the 70’s it was enough to just be thin or average. In the 80’s it was about being body builder big. Nowadays it’s about lean muscle and definition.

"Be bigger than everybody else, then nobbody will mess with you" is so dumb, ppl gonna mess with u anyway, its just that u will be strong enough to defend urself.
AMRUTA K Well you could be Bruce Lee, but if a guy that outweighs him by a good 70 kilos grabbed him, he could snap him in half. Just speaking realistically, take a look at some of the World's Strongest Man competitors they're fucking huge and could crush a normal person

Im doing MMA , there are lot of guys who has more skills but when we spar the bigger guys always win
If someone outweights you by 30-40 kg or even more they will win 90% of the time , if they know basic fighting stance
And also if Big guy cant fight he is still intimidating for people without training
Yousef Sobhani no they cannot crush a human being that is physically impossible human bones are pretty durable
Sgt Virus9 I mean that they could easily kill a smaller guy, not necessarily crush them

1:36 the ideal male body
and in 2011 zyzz started the aesthetic movement fuarkkkkkkk
In ancient Greece yes the ideal body was to be muscular BUT men who were fat and had big bellys meant they were rich because they had lots of food so they were equally respected as athletes!!
not as athletes... but more as men with a high social status
And now here we are... The Unreachable Anime Protagonist Physique.

As long as the person is healthy and happy I don't even care.
It's just one big never-ending cycle. The pefect look depends on the desires of the opposite sex.
no, being fat and unhealthy will never be attractive.. biological and evolutionary factors has made us hardwired to never find that shit attractive. Youth, fertility, being slender, feminine women will always be attractive for guys and strong, tall, masculine, dominant men will always be attractive for women.. That will never change, it never has throughout the history of mankind and never will

200 pounds isn't that much if your over 6 foot tall especially if your an athlete like Muhammad Ali or Arnold Schwarzenegger.
It is a lot.
hydrolito Muscle is much heavier than fat is
Whether 200 pounds is a lot depends. For a 7 foot tall man, 200 pounds isn't a lot. For a 5'6 man, 200 pounds is a lot. For 6'3-6'5 200 pounds is not that much like you said, but it's not skinny.
Mr.BloodEyes so 10 pounds of fat weighs less than 5 pounds of muscle? Use correct wording, bitch.
isnt that much if you are an athlete like Arnold Schwarzenegger.....who took steroids...."not much"
