    There is a plastic filler panel between the front bumper and grill that's supposed to be body color, but I forgot to paint that too. I didn't see any orange in the bumper turn signals. Perhaps I couldn't tell because of the body color but it looked like you forgot the side markers. The carpet on the bottom of the doors is supposed to be black/floor color, but that wasn't called out in the instructions. Only because you asked if we could find them! This is a beautiful build that I would be proud to have on my shelf!

    • @CBModelworks
      @CBModelworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good eye Doug! I didn’t even know about the filler piece. I did forget the turn signals, the wipers and doing the panel lines in the doors and trunk. I lost the brake booster. I dropped it in my under my bench and I have not been able to find it so there’s no booster or master cylinder in it right now. Thanks for checking it out!

    Tamyia tape always or use frog tape Walmart the blue painters tape is garbage course if it’s hot there will be residue I’ve never masked off a whole car to paint the trim BMF all the way but it’s shelf life is short if it’s a year or older I toss it looks awesome Chris you did a great job k.u.t.g.w.

    • @CBModelworks
      @CBModelworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jeff! Other than the blue tape it’s all different sizes of Tamiya tape and I put every piece on my skin to detack it first! I’ve been using these tapes for years and never had this happen before. I think it was the heat in the car and garage. I taped it on my lunch break and it’s triple digits here in Texas so the garage is really hot. 🤷🏻‍♂️ definitely going back to using BMF.

    • @Jeffsmodelgarage
      @Jeffsmodelgarage ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CBModelworks if you put it on your skin you got oil on the tape from your skin and being triple digits isn’t good either still looks great chis 👍

  • @theintake8961
    @theintake8961 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Awesome build! As far as the silver trim, after you tape use a clear to fill any spots that could bleed. In different situations you could spray the color you are protecting. I believe you are right about the residue that it was the heat. Anyway, the red and white really pops! Sweet build! 😎👍

    • @CBModelworks
      @CBModelworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Mike! I think you’re right and it was the heat. Lesson learned. I think I will try the painting clear over the tape edge next time.

      @@joca6282 that’s a great idea! I might have to try that on the next one. Would add that tiny bit of realism to make it look better. Would also help if I remember to paint the turn signals 🤣

      @@CBModelworks I detail quite a bit but, I only wired and lined a few of them. I use black wire for heater hoses on all of them for additional detail. When you do the chrome trim, use the tape but use a brush for it, it won't bleed through. I gave up on bare metal foil decades ago. It eventually peels off. Cut the tape into smaller strips to take the bends, curves and any radius while masking. That way you're masking a lot smaller area of the paint. Make sure the paint dries longer! Most of my kits are from 1964 to 1976. Almost all of them are built. I have bought a few of the CHINESE molded kits in the near past. Lol. I will be getting new releases that weren't ever issued before. It's about time. Some of my kit boxes aren't even dated they're so old. I bought the first 40 or so at $1.48 per kit back in those days. The ones around 1975 and 1976 issues were about $2.99 by then when I bought them too. AMT MPC ARORA LINDBERG MONOGRAM JOHAN AND REVELL kits. Now look at the price of them and the paint. Wtf! When I was younger I didn't even need the tape. A good 0 or #1 tip brush did the job. Take the good chrome paint, spray it into a baggie, cut the corner off, and drain it into a clean bottle. Keep stirring it while you use it to keep the high chrome build on it. I'm 66 and can't do it like that any more. I have over 500 cars myself. Take care good luck and keep building. You'll only get better.

  • @JHartModelworks
    @JHartModelworks ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Yep heat affected the tape adhesive most likely, or your clear wasn't fully cured. The brand new stuff fro BMF works a lot better. I bought my last sheet direct as the hobby stores still have some of the old stuff in stock. The super chrome 2 works better over a gloss black. Tip for preventing bleed through, after you mask off and make sure it's all down good, spray a very light coat of the base color first along the edges of the tape and give it 10 to 15 minutes. That way if you get a bleed it's the same color that is on the car. then your tape edges are all sealed and your next color will be less likely to bleed under the tape.
    Bummer that Murphey got ya like that. Other wise it's looking pretty good.

    • @CBModelworks
      @CBModelworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Justin! I think you’re right about the heat. You if all people know how hot it’s been around here🥵. Definitely going back to BMF. Thats a really good tip on the masking. I’ll try that next time I have to paint trim.

    This really came out looking awesome! I would have filled up the swear jar over that as well. Have you tried to “de-tack” the tape (I use my hands) prior to laying it on the paint?

    • @CBModelworks
      @CBModelworks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! The swear jar is definitely full after this one🤣. I de-tacked every single piece of tape on my arm like I always do. After talking to some other modelers I think it was the heat. It’s been triple digits here in Texas and it spent a couple hours in the car and about 4 in the garage before I took the tape off. My lesson for this week = tape right before paint or bring the stupid thing inside in the a/c😂!

    Unfortunate issue with the tape 😢 heat & humidity/ moisture will cause issues with masking tape, also looks like it etched the surface, again likely from the heat/humidity softning the surface. In the end it looks really good! Great color combo and with color match wheels looks sweet!
